I get the impression that if Ertai were ever subjected to some psychotropic effect that made someone fall in love, he'd turn into a creeper rapist and/or try to dissect someone to find out exactly WHY he is so interested in them.

Tres Ecstuffuan The Great Absolute My opponent needs to get on and figure out how she is going to work around the lack of effectiveness of her pheromones. I want to Bane the s**t out of her and it will happen... Ertai. Your not gonna agree with this. but why not give the girl a break and play along with the pheromones. Make it interesting. Do you really think she is as experienced with the Logical Reaction Stack style of play? I think pheremones is her only gimmick. Without that, she is just kinda there with a sword...and I mean that can be fine but...ya know? Oh I am more than willing to play along if she posts something more than that pheromones are in the air. I need effects, duration DETAILS so I can build my post accordingly and not have a NO U match later on. It isn't my prerogative that she doesn't know what she is doing. Rookies need to get smacked just like everyone else. I am being cordial and nice to her so it shouldn't be an issue if I didn't have to grasp at air with her abilities. Not to mention it isn't an effective form of combat. Ertai isn't even the same specie as her, so pheromones should have 0 effect.

He's got a point, fellas. He knows like eight different martial arts forms and can spew magical black smoke from his body IRL. Yes, I said IRL. If you can't shoot lightning from your actual d**k then who the <********> are you to be in this thing, trying to have your pansy a** little fun pretending that you can fight!?

The Great Absolute I'll call bullshit on this ^ It isn't even anything like that. I'd love for you to explain why it would be like reading a manual? I don't expect someone to count the number of dirt particles on their pants or how far their toes are apart. I do expect from the people here to post proper mechanics and if they're using a weapon or a martial form to know how to describe transitions from one attack to another and proper technique and form. Any of the scrubs can grab a rapier and swing it around and act as if they're a fencer. I'd like to at least know you're read on the subject so when it comes time for you to argue I just lololol all the way to the rage bank and deposit their crying a**, bitching about something I did because it was lost in the text they should have read. The reason is because in order to convey, let's say, a 'single counter' in the sixte position, I have to explain in non-roleplay subtext what the hell a single counter is and why/how its a single motion, explain wtf 'sixte' even means, detail why the leverage of my blade is capable of shunting a heavier sword due to positioning, describe all the various shifts of weight and position in my stance (more if I'm wielding an offhand like I am now), the attacking position on the counter and why it's fast and effective, and then describe the disengage. It took me three paragraphs just to accurately describe a blade disengage. That's a lot of non-roleplay text in an ostensibly roleplaying tournament.

That is what leads to a fun and rewarding match. Hopefully she will read this and know that if she puts some flavor into her post, some detail, some imagery and make it an exciting read that you are willing to play along. and thats all you can ask.

Clearly that was what I said. Now that you're looking stupid trying to argue an invalid point you turn to personalizing it about what I can or cannot do IRL. Because I've claimed to be an astute fighter. I love the nerd logic "LOOK AT U IN AN RPZ TOURNAMENTSZ FIGHTZINZ" Pot callin the kettle black. At least when I pretend, I know what I'm talking about. Didn't you know? I'm a ******** magician?

I'll stop being facetious for a moment to say there are mainly two schools of thought here that can be summarized as competition vs. cooperation. Neither's wrong.
In fact, the only guideline for this tournament I've seen is simply, "Use common sense." Follow the AMP. I don't think Hero has posted his guidelines for what is or is not acceptable in a profile.
At the end of the day, it will be up to Hero and the judges to decide what they want to "reward." I mean, we have a grading rubric, sure, but I think ultimately the ethos behind Hero's ideal for this tournament will be the deciding factor.
So it could be that being the best fighter trumps being the best roleplayer, and that's fine. If that's the case I'll still enjoy my fights as much as I can doing it my way, and if I lose I'll just go ******** off somewhere else. So I'm not going to push my ideal on anyone else for what a roleplay tournament, tournament roleplay should be.
I'll save that this Summer for...
COMING THIS SUMMER!
BLOOD!
ON ICE!
ICECAPADES: THE TOURNAMENT
-DEADLIEST SKATER-
(Basically a fighting tournament where competitors are ice skating around the rink.)
Obligatory Edit: I am SO ******** pissed off, Ertai! >.<

I believe it's the judges place to tell people they aren't posting properly. It's the fighter's place to treat their opponent with respect, partially by respecting the powers they present unless your character has something that can presumably defend against it.
I for one am about to lose a limb. I can see it coming a mile away. My opponent is charging an ability that can cut through most anything. Maybe I'll think of a way to resist it. Maybe not. But whether he's presented it correctly or whether he's used it fairly isn't for me to decide.

I don't think Hero has posted his guidelines for what is or is not acceptable in a profile. There are effectively no real rules to this, as such you should basically treat it as you would any non-tournament RP fight aside from the fact that you're operating out of an accepted profile. And I do mean effectively no real rules, since as much as people love to say "we use AMP rules here" the thing is literally 'baby's first rulebook' when it comes to RPing. I was definitely a part of it back in the day, in like... 2003. Hung out in the thread, answered questions, the whole lot. But it's basically a bulleted list of terms referring to common sense things.

I'm glad I am a good RPer and a good fighter so I shouldn't have to worry about faltering on a rubric. I make sure I am detailed and have plenty of flare and action in my posts.

Well, per Hero's rules the fighters are to resolve their own issues and if they do not come to an agreement, their option is to leave. So I don't think there has been or will be much in the way of a judge intervening in the middle of a round. But there's the split. You could play your character and take a severed limb, or play the competition and find the best possible solution. You're not wrong, but I think there's still going to be an impressive amount of violations of the baby rulebook. That sweet little baby book with its little baby pages.

It took me three paragraphs just to accurately describe a blade disengage. That's a lot of non-roleplay text in an ostensibly roleplaying tournament. Each post I make is effectively leading up to a singular action and once the fight engaged I respect the logical reaction stack of events in a fight so really you will take an entire post to describe your counter / defense and transition to the next attack. Any movement or subsequent action after the attack is implying an autohit. Hence why I stop right after I attack unless it is dialogue in concurring actions, internalizing thoughts or background s**t. So the notion that too much detail is stupid, is just ******** dumb in itself. I won't point fingers but when I read a post that is like 2-3 sentences I laugh. I cannot in good faith take that serious. All I want to do is link them to some stupid vampire in the woods RP in BT.
