Sarviur continued. He hoped it wasn't the Goddess, casting judgment upon him...but no - the fog was ghost-filled. And the ghosts were harmless; they'd been vanquished quite easily before. So he continued.

He tripped, again, and was glad that he did not fall. The fog was unfriendly here, so much more unfriendly than it was in the rest of the world.
It didn't matter. All he had to do was get to the end of the stairs, to the checkerboard island...

Hands grabbed at Sarviur's ankles and he kept dashing, ignoring them this time. None of them had enough force to stop him. It was a pity he wasn't the step-counting sort, or he'd know how long it had taken him before, and how far he was from the end.

Which was not in sight. Nothing was; the fog was far too thick for that. Down, down, down - oh.
He tripped again, and waved at the crumbling bits of stair as they went. He felt strange today - perhaps it was the shock of the new memory and new ghost.

He knew he should have expected, gotten used to it maybe, but even as the fog pulled him, dragging him down, he couldn't help but sense fear. Even as it caught him and placed him on the ground, he was still shaking, core pulsing as he reached out to touch one of the orbs.
