'A minute' turned into at least ten as the girls got themselves dressed and ready. Sasha spent her time trying to comb the sex out of her hair, while Doe ran around and opened every window possible to air out the room so it didn't smell like prime-time wrestling. "(Sorry for the wait!)" Sasha called out, rushing over to the door when they figured all was ready and opening it. "(Please, come in.)"
In stepped an elder man of some stature. He was a good deal taller than Sasha, and wore a fitted black suit with red accents, topped off with a black bowtie. A gold chain dangled from his right pocket. His hair was pure white from root to tip, and flowed down into a finely trimmed beard and mustache. His facial hair hid most of the expression on his face, leaving a good deal of it to his piercing eyes, which stood out on his wrinkled face. He looked across the room at Doe, who froze like her namesake in a pair of bright lights.
"Bishop!" Sasha cheered, throwing her arms around the man, whose entire face curled as he warm smiled, instantly transforming him into an adorable old man. Doe let out a sigh of relief at the change, silently telling her heart it was okay to start beating again.
"(Your room service will be up momentarily, miss. I had to make sure they made your favorite.)" Bishop said, instinctively looking over the girl's clothing. "(What happened to your clothes? It is unlike you to wear them to rags.)"
"(Oh these?)" Sasha said, tugging at her shirt. "(You're telling me that you kept a perfect wardrobe when you were a trainer?)" she smiled, deflecting the question. "(But please. Come in.)" She lead Bishop out of the doorway and into the room.
"Hello, sir." Doe said meekly. Bishop bowed his head to the girl.
"Good morning, mademoiselle." he said in a gentle tone. "I trust you enjoyed your stay at Hotel du Beauchamp?"
"Oh, I sure did! Slept like a rock!" Doe replied, laughing nervously, looking over at Sasha.
"You two shared a bed?" Bishop inquired after looking around the room, noticing that one of them was untouched. Sasha had a habit of never making her bed. "Funny you should ask z'hat, actually." Sasha replied. "Hilarious, really." Doe added. "She had to stay in my bed because she has..." "Night terrors." "Z'he most crippling case of night terrors. It's tragic, really." "Bugs everywhere." "Look, she even has lots of small bug bites on her neck." "I think I feel them crawling on me now, ahhh!" Doe threw her hands onto her face and tried to let out a convincing scream. "It's okay." Sasha said, reaching over and pawing at Doe's face, not breaking eye contact with Bishop. "You're safe now." "My hero!" "So yes, Bishop. This is my friend...my friend...she has z'he most beautiful name." "Oh, it's the most beautiful name." "You should tell him your beautiful name." "Natalie is my name." "Z'hat is absolutely her name. It is one hundred percent z'hat." she coughed. "So, Bishop! Not to change the subject," she lied. "But what brings you here?"
The old man took one more look at Natalie before turning to face Sasha. "(Your father wants you home.)"
"(You knowww I can't do that.)" Sasha said, trying her best to mask her tone. "(We can talk about this later, okay? Let me at least eat some food first.)"
"(As you wish, miss.)" Bishop said with a sigh. "(I will go wait downstairs in the cafe for you.)" He turned back to Natalie. "It was a pleasure meeting you."
"You too, sir!" she said, her voice cracking slightly. The two girls waited until the door closed behind him before letting out a collective exhale.

After replacing the two now-empty Pokeballs onto her belt, Kasiya took up two others as she started a slow walk towards the front doors of the gym, keeping her breathing steady as the threshold drew nearer and nearer. She walked right up to the grand, stylish front doors, glanced around a few times and then pressed the buzzer on the side. And then she waited, her next pair of Pokeballs ready.
"What do you want!?" a gravely voice growled over the intercom.
Kasiya looked up at the speaker expectantly, and smiled despite the fact that there was no camera. "I'm here to see Giovanni," she stated quickly, her voice carrying an air of authority that made her feel larger than life. She could feel the ground beneath her tremble a bit as Adamantine shifted her tremendous weight. "Right away," she added as though it would help. It didn't.
There was a pause from the other side, and Kasiya narrowed her eyes and frowned. "H-he's not here," the voice said finally. "And even if he was, you'd need to make an appointment if you want to challenge the gym. Leave."
The little bond tapped her foot impatiently. "I'm not here to challenge the gym," she said, looking back at her two Pokemon. Well, not quite yet at least. "Fine, if your boss isn't here, then I wanna talk to the next best thing. Where's Mai?"
"She's unavailable," the voice answered almost immediately this time, which Kasiya interpreted as "she's not here right now, but we probably shouldn't tell anyone that our two head honchos are on vacation".
The voice had continued, but Kasiya was done listening. "That's a real shame," was all she said as she took a step back and released her next two Pokemon, Sirrus and Fang, and then followed them up with Leviathan and, of course, Ariel. "I trust you all remember the plan?" There was a quiet murmur of agreement, and the blonde stepped back, now with Levi standing directly at her side. Kasiya raised her arm. The Tyranitar, Flygon and Crobat all began to charge up their Hyper Beams while the Arcanine prepared his Overheat. Just for good measure, Ariel readied her Hydro Pump. "DO IT!" The five attacks were all released at the same time, and at almost the exact same moment, Leviathan crouched down protectively over her trainer, calling up a shimmering green barrier - Protect. Smoke, dust and flying, flaming debris filled the air, with a chunk of what was once the front doors smashing harmlessly off the top of Leviathan's shield. The dust had barely started to settle as Kasiya stood up, marching toward the now gaping hole in the front of the gym, her six Pokemon eagerly following along with her, though Ariel did take point. She was fully expecting to be swarmed by Rockets, but she really didn't care. "Shocker!" she shouted. "We're coming for you!!
=-=-=-=-= Erika was more than happy to see the Muk collapse and quickly be recalled, though not before releasing a weak cloud of poisonous gasses. "Confusion," was all the gym leader said, knowing her Exeggutor would know what to do. It summoned its psychic energy once again, this time using it to turn back and disperse the cloud in the opposite direction. In the meantime, however, Crenu released his next Pokemon, and Erika was't surprised to see that it was a Flying-type. There was something unnatural about the Fearow's sheen though, as she was certain they weren't all gold-coloured like that. Regardless of its colouring, Crenu had commanded it to Leer at her Exeggutor, which wasn't a waste considering how bulky the grass type could be. "In the meantime, use Reflect," the gym leader called out, and the Coconut Pokemon gave an odd-sounding cry as it called up a barrier of shiny, reflective light.

It took a moment for the awkwardness to pass, and when it had, Keegan was back at the window, looking out over the yard. He wasn't sure if he felt relieved by his father's revelation, or if it had only made him feel worse. "Well, was it worth it, then?" he asked, turning the badge case over in his hands. "I mean, you've got a pretty successful business on your hands, here. It must have been worth it."
Todd shook his head. "It hasn't always been," he sighed, sitting down at his desk and wheeling the chair around. "In fact, when I first took over this place, I almost ran it right into the ground. I had no idea what I was doing. It was just a matter of time before I'd have to shut it down."
Keegan listened attentively, settling himself on a dark leather ottoman. He'd known the center had financial trouble way back when, but he never knew it'd come that close to being shut down. "What happened?" he asked, placing the badge case on the edge of the desk. "Did you win the lottery?"
Todd raised an eyebrow, still not overly impressed with his son's natural talent at sarcasm. "I met your mother," he said finally.
"Ooh," Keegan said, nodding. "Yeah, that makes sense." The two Summers' men chuckled, as it was no secret that Maggie was the brains behind pretty much their entire operation. While she looked the part of the loving, cheerful, doting wife and mother, all of that covered up a seriously shrewd businesswoman.
Another silence then settled upon them, but this one wasn't as awkward as the others had been. Keegan couldn't help but think of everything that had been said, and how he'd been handling everything. In the grand scheme of things, everything that was bothering him seemed very small and almost petty. He took up the badge case again and opened it, running his fingertips along the crushed velvet. It wasn't completely unthinkable for him to continue winning badges, even if he didn't have any interest in being the champion. He wasn't really one for the spotlight, after all.
As though reading his son's mind, Todd opened up one of the drawers and pulled something out of it, and handed it to Keegan. "Here," he said. "I haven't looked at them in years, but perhaps they'll inspire you."
Keegan accepted the item, noticing quickly that it was like a thick picture frame, but beneath the glass were seven badges. Keegan wiped the dust from the glass, staring intently. He couldn't even begin to guess how old these badges were, but they were still in excellent condition even if he didn't recognize most of them. Lavaridge Town's signature Heat Badge was among them, though over the years it had adopted a more modernized style to it. "Dad, these are incredible," he said finally, looking up at his father. "I can't believe that you managed to get seven of them."
"It wasn't without effort," Todd agreed, a nostalgic smile spreading across his face. "Each badge has a story to tell, namely of the brave Pokemon that fought for them. Your badges do too."
Keegan nodded. "Yeah, I know." He thought of the ones he had earned so far, unable to keep from smiling as he thought of those battles. He hated to admit it, but he had come along way since he and Helios had first left home. "I'm still not sure I see the point, though."
Todd shrugged. "There's only a point to everything if you want there to be." He stood up and headed for the door. "Come along, son," he said.
Obediently, Keegan rose. "Where are we going?" he asked, setting the glass case back on the desk.
"Outside," the elder Summers said. "I'm challenging you to a battle."

As Kasiya stepped over a smoldering hunk of wood she looked around, already knowing that if Shocker was here, there were two places that Giovanni would likely be keeping her. Of course, there was the off-chance that he had taken her with him or she was elsewhere, but Kasiya refused to let those thoughts settle in her mind. The interior of the gym was just as she remembered it, as the front door (or now, the severe lack of one) opened into a foyer which then opened again into the arena. It was hard not to notice that some of the debris had been blown back all the way to the other side of the arena. An alarm of sorts had started and she looked up at the balcony that hung over the far side of the gym, as it was the place where Giovanni did all of his battling from. She frowned at the thought, hating the fact that he felt so above everyone else, and her fury rose over the fact that he wasn't even here to defend his gym.
As predicted, Rocket grunts began to appear, though their numbers were far fewer than she'd anticipated. "Hey, you! Stop right....there?" the nearest grunt had started to shout, though his voice trailed off into a terrified sort of squeak as he found himself in the shadow of Kasiya's Tyranitar. The fact that Ada then proceeded to roar at him did nothing to help him and he turned and fled, deciding that letting some blonde chick rampaging around the gym was much better than having his body torn limb from limb by a large, angry rage monster. Many of the other grunts decided to cut their losses and flee as well, but a fair few had chosen to stand their ground. There were several flashes as Pokemon were released, and without being told, Kasiya's Pokemon moved forward, save for Levi who had remained by her side as she'd been assigned the role of bodyguard since she was the only one in the group that could use Protect.
Among the Pokemon to be released were Primeape, Golbat and Graveler, and soon a Houndoom and Sneasel had joined the fray as well. Kasiya had little interest in the Pokemon, though she did grin at the sight of Hiro unleashing his newly-learned Dragon Pulse on the Graveler. Ariel was keeping the Houndoom at bay with a Water Gun, which was pretty considerate of the Vaporeon until she grew tired of the game and launched it into the wall with another Hydro Pump. Kasiya knew her Pokemon could handle themselves, especially if Giovanni's best and brightest weren't here, and though she'd initially charged in here feeling like she could take them all, she was actually a little glad that he and Mai were not here. Again she wondered what would happen if she tore the entire gym apart and didn't find Shocker, and she felt a tug of anxiety as she once again turned her attention to the balcony. There was supposed to be a staircase somewhere, but there was currently no way to get up there, unless one utilized their Pokemon. Kasiya glanced first to Fang who was busy beating the smaller Golbat senseless with his wings and then to Sirrus.
The Flygon chirped almost excitedly as the Sneasel had rushed at him, but the dragon had much better plans for it and easily swatted away the smaller Pokemon with a mighty Dragon Tail. Meanwhile the Primeape had attempted to pose a threat to the Tyranitar, but Ada was also having none of it and simply picked the angry puffball up off the ground and roared in its face before spinning and hurling it away from her. The Pig Monkey Pokemon's eyes were wide with fear as it soared out of the arena, bounced once in the foyer and then out the expansive new front door. The grunts quickly realized they were outmatched even if the girl hadn't given a single order since she'd gotten in here and they recalled their battered Pokemon (or chased after them in the event they'd been thrown like a football) before fleeing. There really weren't that many Rockets at the base today, which was probably lucky for them.

Kasiya didn't even notice that the alarm had been shut off as she pointed at the balcony. "I need to get up there!" she nearly screamed. Behind her, Ada unleashed a Hyper Beam into the far wall, creating a brand-new window. Sirrus gave a chirp, admiring his teammate's handiwork (even if their alliance was only temporary, or until Kasiya gave him back to Mai) before he flittered over to Kasiya and landed in front of her. He trilled and the girl climbed onto his back along with Ariel, and he brought the pair up to the balcony. "If Shocker is here, either she is in his office, or in the laboratory," she said, hopping down from the Flygon's back. She knew by now that the door in front of her lead to a small hallway, and if she turned the right way, she'd find herself at the entrance to the Rocket boss' office. Hiro had made it up to the balcony in a mighty leap, and even Leviathan managed to climb up the side of it. Fang was busy chasing off the last few Rockets with wild Air Slashes, though in actuality he was attempting to mimic Adamantine and apparently couldn't seem to remember that he could use Hyper Beam too, but except for when Kasiya told him he could.
Kasiya glanced around quickly, realizing that she was minus one Pokemon and she quickly looked back at the massive Tyranitar that was now in the process of destroying the arena. Kasiya decided that Ada would be fine on her own and could easily tear through the entire complex as though it were made of paper if she needed to, so she looked back at her party, all awaiting her next move atop the balcony. Staircases be damned! She pointed at the door, and looked to Hiro, who gave a fierce growl and charged at the door, his body becoming wreathed in crackling flames as he did so. Yet another door was defeated, now with only a vaguely-Arcanine shaped hole in its wake, and the girl pressed on, now looking up and down the hallway. "This way," she said, ignoring the voices she could hear coming from either way. She'd already made it a lot further than she thought she would, and there was no way she was turning back now. Kasiya and her entourage continued along down the hall, which was only a bit of a tight squeeze for some and it wasn't long before they encountered some more resistance - this time the Rockets that were brave (or foolish) enough to go after her had enclosed her in a pincer attack.
"You're not going any further!" one of the Rockets in front shouted, reaching for a Pokeball, but he wouldn't get a chance to throw it as Levi had unleashed a Mud Shot, causing him to fumble the sphere. Hiro let out a loud roar before shooting off a jet of flames that made the Rocket flee on the spot, as well as the others that had been with him. Ariel, who'd been leading the charge until this point, fell back beside Leviathan, giving a soft cry. The Swampert seemed to know what the Vaporeon wanted and they unleashed twin Ice Beams, creating a solid and thick wall of ice that would slow the Rockets down, at least for now. Kasiya gave a cheer at the sight of her Pokemon working together, and she knew without a doubt that without them, there was no way she'd be able to get Shocker back on her own. Just hang on, Shocker! We're almost there, she thought almost desperately. She would have no issues with reducing the entire gym to rubble if it turned out that her beloved Raichu wasn't here.

As the boy and his Pokemon raced through the forest, they heard a loud explosion. "I certainly hope that's a good sound." Mike said to Portabello as they reached the end of the woods and came across the scene. The gym door had been completely blasted off, along with a good portion of the wall. Smoke rose from the wreckage, and Mike couldn't help but smile as he felt his heart flutter in his chest. "Ohh mercy! A girl after my own heart." he said with a chuckle, fanning himself. Portabello rolled his eyes.
You do appear to be rubbing off on her. The mushroom commented. I'm not entirely sure if that is a good thing yet.
"Time will tell, my fungal friend!" said the boy, climbing over the log separating the city from the forest and making his way to the newly ventilated gym. He slowed down and inspected the area, admiring Kasiya's work. "She really did a number on this, huh?" He danced around the wreckage as he peered into the door. Sure enough, far down the hall he could see her raising hell with all sorts of Pokemon. He smiled, cheering under his breath. "Go get, em, baby."
"Hey!" a chainsaw of a voice called out from behind him. "Did you do this?"
Mike turned around to see two Rockets glaring at him. "This?" he shook his head. "Oh no. If this was me it would look a lot more...orange. And a great deal warmer."
The more vocal Rocket narrowed his eyes. "Wait a minute. I know you!" he buzzed. "You're that punk kid from a few weeks ago who broke our floor with his stupid friends!"
"Oh hey!" Mike smiled. You're that guy! The guy who called Beacon retarded! I knew your voice sounded familiar! How've you been?"
"Better than you it seems!" the Rocket said with an awful laugh. "What happen, get hugged by a Scyther?"
"Basically." he said, looking at his still tender looking hands, deciding against the whole story.
Master. Portabello chimed in. You should duck. Mike squat to the ground, and soon felt something rush past him and collide into the other Rocket, knocking him to the ground. It was a large ball of mangled white fur that had little brown legs. Whatever it was, both it and the Rocket were out cold. The remaining Rocket looked at his unconscious friend, then at Mike, then down the hallway where the flying Pokemon came from.
"So." the boy said, pulling out an Ultra Ball and wearing a dark smile. "Still have that wimpy Hitmonchan?"

Keegan paused in mid-stride half way to the door, wobbling a little on the spot before he set his food back down. "Wait, what? You're kidding, right?"
Todd had already left the study and was heading down the hall at a fairly serious pace. "Do I look like I'm kidding?" he called without even glancing back.
"Oh, s**t," Keegan mumbled, quite sure that he actually felt the blood drain from his face. Having his own father challenge him to a battle had been pretty much the last thing he'd been expecting, namely because he'd never actually seen him battle, or even training with a Pokemon for that matter. "I'm so screwed," he muttered, knowing that there was absolutely no way he could back down. He could always just run, but he knew he'd never live it down, and not only did he not want to disappoint his father any further, he was tired of disappointing himself. The redhead sighed, and took in a deep, cleansing breath. "All right," he said, running a hand through his messy hair. "Let's do this. Yeah, we got this."
The idea that his father was capable in a Pokemon battle was still relatively new and mind-blowing thought for Keegan, and as he passed through the kitchen, he spotted his parents, standing by the stove. Apparently, Maggie was trying to convince her husband to try her gruesome concoction, but Todd was having none of it. "Neither of you want to try it? That's so strange," she said sadly, looking at the floor. "I thought you boys loved this dish."
Keegan smirked, and decided he didn't really have anything to lose considering he was likely about to get his a** handed to him in a very unexpected and possibly one-sided match. "Mom, no offense, but we've both hate that stuff. Whenever you're not looking, we try to get rid of it, and then we'd go back to the garage and order a pizza."
Maggie's green eyes flashed wide, and she looked to her husband. "Todd? Is this true?" she asked sternly.
The elder Summers looked just a little more embarrassed than his son for once, as he shifted uneasily on his feet and refused to make eye contact until absolutely necessary. "Yes, Maggie. Your eggplant dish is, well, it's vile. We didn't have the heart to tell you, but even the Grumpig won't touch the stuff."
"I don't think my friend's Weezing would, either," Keegan added. After all, even garbage-eating Poison-types had standards.
Maggie sighed, then looked to Keegan, who could only offer an apologetic shrug. "Oh. Thank. Arceus. I can't stand it either. I only made it because I thought you two loved it." Father and son watched with amusement as their mother/wife then dumped the entire contents into the trash can.

Hey P.B., don't lose track of her. He thought. I'll take care of this clown. The Breloom nodded, turning towards the building and closing his eyes to focus.
"I'll show you wimpy!" the Rocket growled, releasing the Pokemon in question. Mike paused to look at the Hitmonchan for a moment.
They're so strange. said a shadow, who rose from the ground beside it. Where do they get this skirt thing? Is it cloth or fur? Several shadowy question marks floated above the shade's head.
"Not sure." Mike said with a shrug. "Oh well. Not like it'll last long enough for me to care." He flicked his wrist, sending his Ultra Ball to the ground, where it popped open and revealed his delightfully defunct Ampharos. Beacon looked around, taking in his surroundings as intently as he could, which wasn't much. With a simple sounding honk, it seemed to affirm that yes, he was in fact aware he was outside of his ball.
The Rocket's frown nearly hit the floor, as did the Hitmonchan. "That thing." he said, obviously recalling his last encounter with him.
"That thing is my friend." Mike said with a scowl. "And if you won't respect him, then you'll fear him! Beacon!" he barked. "Shockwave!"
The Ampharos replied with a bark of his own, flapping his flippers before exploding in a bright flash of light. Several streams of lightning shot out from Beacon's body, changing direction several times in the air before turning and flying straight for the enemy Pokemon, ramming into him and exploding. The Rocket froze as the attack turned his Pokemon into a miniature supernova, causing bits of dirt and gym door to scatter even more. When the dust cleared, the Hitmonchan was reduced to a twitching mess on the ground, at which Mike could only roar in laughter.
"What do you Rockets do all day?" he said between hysterics. "I think it got weaker since last time!"
"Man! I'm outta here!" the Rocket wailed, recalling his Pokemon and running away. This honestly left Mike a little bummed.
"Aw." he said, his laughter subsiding. "Didn't even get the chance to get riled up." He turned to Portabello. "What's the sitch' in there?"
Mistress Kasiya has left one of her Pokemon behind and continued onward. Mike looked inside at the large green dinosaur-like Pokemon trashing about inside. He had never seen Kasiya with a Pokemon like that before.
"Oh wait! I can solve this problem now!" Digging through his bag, he pulled out his 'new' PokeDex and opened it, pointing at the rampaging Pokemon. After a the device whirred, clicked, and didn't explode, it chimed, displaying a picture of the Pokemon in question.
Tyranitar: the Armor Pokemon. a robotic voice droned. If it rampages, it knocks down mountains and buries rivers. Maps must be redrawn afterward. The quakes caused when it walks make even great mountains crumble and change the surrounding terrain. It is the evolved form of Pupitar and the final form of Larvitar.
"Oh hey! It's Ada!" Mike cried out. "That's what her final form is? Not bad!" He spent a moment to check out some details on the Pokemon.
We should go help her. a voice hissed in his ear. Impressive or not, even bugs in a swarm are dangerous.
"Got it." the trainer said, snapping the PokeDex shut and stuffing it into his bag. "Let's go Beacon! Everyone inside!" Mike took off down the hallway, following closely by Portabello. Lagging slightly behind was the waddling Ampharos, who slowed down, forgetting exactly where he was for a second. The thought literally sparked between his ears as he recalled Mike's order, and Beacon flopped down the hall, loosing a series of loud honks.
Ada continued to stomp around in the gym's arena, causing a good deal of the much smaller Pokemon that surrounded it to think twice before going in for an attack. One of them, an Arbok, decided to be brave and lunged. As the Tyranitar turned to face it, a Tauros that was flanking her also charged. P.B.!
Leaping into action, the Breloom kicked off the ground with his powerful legs and delivered a kick square into the side of the bull, sending it skidding across the floor and landing with practiced grace.
"Hope you don't mind a little backup, Ada!" Mike called out to the Pokemon. "I just couldn't let your trainer have all the fun!"

Ada, meanwhile, had been in the process of trying to blast a new skylight into the roof of the gym when she realized she wasn't alone. The Tyranitar wheeled around, spotting a human that had entered the arena. She loosed a savage roar until she realized she knew him; though she may have cut it off due to the sudden swarm of Pokemon she found herself surrounded by. She snarled, sweeping her arm down and planting a solid Brick Break into the Arbok that had lunged at her. The purple snake, despite type resistances, flew back a dozen feet and landed awkwardly, and it didn't appear to be getting up any time soon. Ada became aware of a presence behind her and she turned just in time to see a green Pokemon plant a kick into the Tauros that had tried to make an attack of opportunity, and the bull Pokemon bellowed painfully as it skidded across the floor. The Tyranitar glared at Mike but let the human be; after all she was certain that her trainer was rather fond of this one and preferred him not to be thrashed into a meaty paste. And as though to emphasize her fearsome presence, she turned and fired a point-blank Dark Pulse into the face of the Hypno that had desperately been trying to make its Confusion attack work. Naturally, it didn't end well for the Psychic-type.
Elsewhere in the slowly degrading gym, Kasiya glanced back at the ice wall created by her two Water-types and grinned, completely oblivious to the secret back up she'd acquired since the start of her little mission. It was probably a good thing she didn't know Mike was there, otherwise it would have taken her focus away from her goal. With the Rockets blocked off behind them for now (Ariel and Levi went a step further and created a second ice wall only a few feet away from the first) Kasiya knew she could press on toward Giovanni's office, which served two purposes. If Shocker wasn't there, she knew, at the very least, that she could get down to the laboratory from there, and she couldn't help but chuckle to herself as she didn't know any other ways down to Gio's "secret lab".
Bursts of flame from Hiro kept any Rockets at a safe distance and it didn't take long for Kasiya and her party to arrive at the large, solid oak doors that opened to Giovanni's office. An impish grin crossed the girl's face as she recalled breaking this door down more than once before, but she really didn't care about causing unnecessary damage (obviously). She was here to rescue her Raichu, and in the process, teach Giovanni and the rest of his goon squad a lesson. Kasiya DeLuca was a lot more troublesome than they gave her credit for. The last two times this door had been kicked in, Digger, her Sandslash, had done the honors, but since the Ground-type was absent, Kasiya gave the nod to one of the other Ground-types in her presence without even testing to see if the door was locked, which it most likely was. Leviathan gave a roar and reared back, pounding a large fist against the oak again and again until it began to splinter from the pressure. The Swampert gave another bellow and with one final, crushing strike, it bowed inward, falling into hundreds of pieces at her feet. The Swampert then ambled into the room, doing a quick check to make sure it was empty, and she looked back to her trainer and gave a nod.
Kasiya narrowed her eyes and practically stomped into the office, kicking bits of shattered door out of her way. A quick glance around the room showed her that Shocker wasn't here, but somehow she knew that her beloved partner was close. The most disheartening thing was the fact that she could not see the window to the lab where it normally was, but the wall seemed almost too pristine to be real. "There has to be a switch," the girl reasoned. Giovanni was fond of that sort of thing. Immediately she rushed over to the book case and began to tug books from it, tossing them to the floor in a heap behind her. She went through every shelf with no luck, and she was seriously considering just having her Pokemon start to blast through the floor like Mike had done the last time they were here. Well, not blast per se, as Nitro had actually tunneled down through into the lab below.
Her Pokemon rose to the occasion, however, each starting to search the room as well, and in no time at all, the entire place had been torn apart, all with no luck in finding a switch or lever or button that would open up the sliding panel. Kasiya flopped down in the chair behind the desk, spinning around a few times as she allowed her brain to think. She was getting anxious, and angry, as she knew that it was likely that backup would soon be arriving. Her worries were warranted as just then, more Rockets entered the room. "How does that open?" she screamed at the nearest grunt, fueled by nothing more than pure anger at this point, and she gestured from him to the wall. "I know the lab is through there, how does it open!?"

Needless to say Ccrenu was annoyed to see that Exeggutor deflected the cloud of poison with it's confusion, though it wasn't like he was expecting Erika to just let her pokemon be poisoned. Bubbles' last effort was for nothing, but he did manage to take out Erika's first pokemon so it wasn't all bad. Keeping that momentum going would mean victory, even if only barely. Of course Crenu wasn't planning on getting in that situation, intended for Pet Shop to run through this pokemon and possibly even Erika's third. With the Leer set in Crenu was ready for an attack, but they countered with a good move that would prove very troublesome. "Hmm, reflect. Very well. Let's not waste time and let them set up the field any further. Pet Shop, Fury Attack, bust that barrier into nothing." With the wall of light Exeggutor's defenses would be hard to get through, but Pet Shop had raw power on his side and he knew how to use it! The golden Fearow burst forward with incredible speed, his head like a piston as his beak shot forward and back over and over again. But his strikes were not random, every time his beak flew forward it was in the exact same spot as the last, a concentrated attack that the two had worked on tirelessly and that Pet Shop was proud of.

The Summers' family temporarily put the pending battle on hold while they cleaned up the kitchen and placed an order for pizza, considering it was about that time of day anyway. It was never uncommon, at least when Keegan was still at home most of the time for the to share in the kitchen duties and as such they usually finished in very little time. Today was no exception, and though he'd been granted a minor delay in what felt like an impending battle of doom, it was down to crunch time and there weren't any more reasons to stall, unless of course, he managed to come down with a sudden and urgent case of acute appendicitis that required immediate medical attention. Sadly, however, his appendix remained healthy and rather not-inflamed so that was out, and he couldn't even blame food poisoning.
The redhead really didn't know what to expect from this upcoming match, other than that they'd narrowed it down to being a three-on-three. Endless possibilities were flooding his mind as they headed outside, and though their property was somewhat expansive, Keegan was pretty sure they didn't have an actual arena lurking there somewhere. "So where is this going to happen?" Keegan asked, having made the switch to his strongest six Pokemon for obvious and intelligent reasons. He was quite certain his father wouldn't want to mess up any of their fields.
"Oh, honey, you worry too much," Maggie cooed, pointing to the truck. "I already called Mr Moore and he said we could use the gym. Hop in the back and we'll get over there in a jiffy."
"Wait, you're going to watch?" Keegan asked, wincing a little as his mother gave an eager nod. Sure, that was just what he needed, a little more humiliation in his life. Every son just loved to be curb-stomped into oblivion in front of their mothers. "What about our food? And isn't forcing your kid to ride in the back of a truck illegal now?"
"You heard your mother, boy, you worry too much," Todd said as he climbed into the driver's seat.
Maggie beamed at her son. "The pizza's going right to the gym, and since you're not technically a little kid anymore, if we get pulled over, the only one that gets fined is you, so you'd best bale out and make a run for it if you spot the fuzz, got it?"
"Oh, Mother, you're so funny."
"I hope you've saved your money, sweetheart," was all she said in reply as Keegan clambered into the back of the truck, and he soon realized that riding in the bed of an old pickup truck wasn't nearly as fun now as it had been when he was a kid. His old injuries from the past week felt every pothole, bump and grind and by the time they got to the gym, he could barely pour himself out and onto the pavement as he saw Flannery's grandfather speaking with his parents. He stood back, stretching and popping his spine back into a normal position while not overly trying to eavesdrop, though he did hear that his fellow redheaded Lavaridge native had locked herself in her office in the gym and was refusing to come out. Keegan had a sneaking suspicion that this battle wasn't only for his benefit, but for Flannery's, as well.

Okay. It was quite clear that Ada was not on the Nightmare level of 'giant scary Pokemon that also like you'. At least, not yet. However, he wasn't stomped into a puddle, so that was good enough for him.
Golbat to your right! Mike snapped his attention to the bat circling above him, which was eyeing him intently. A melody of honks and various majestic sounds foretold the arrival of Beacon, who ran as fast as his unfancy footwork allowed into the arena. The Pokemon's eyes grew wide at the large amount of Pokemon and attacks that were present at once. The mental stimulus was almost overwhelming for the Ampharos.
"Beacon!" Mike called out, rolling out of the way of the swooping bat. "Take out the mean bat!"
Mean? The electric Pokemon grit his teeth at this new information, following the Golbat as it returned to the air high above the melee. The red gem on his forehead began to glow a bright white as Beacon glared at the flying Pokemon. Both Mike and Portabello saw Beacon unleash a powerful new attack from his gem, which sent out a pattern of glowing stones like a shotgun blast, recoil and all, with a loud bang. The kickback sent the Ampharos tumbling backward (not without eliciting several frightened shrieks from him), but the move hit its mark. The glowing spray peppered the Golbat, and sent it spiraling to the ground.
"Well that was frighteningly effective." Mike said. Always something new with him. Portabello added.
Beacon struggled to his feet, incredibly dizzy from his little trip. He looked around for the mean bat, but instead saw at least one hundred Pokemon, many of them duplicates, and some of them coming right at him. The Pokemon flailed around in fear as a Persian and Nidorino raced towards him, honking wildly and running in circles.
"Beacon!" Mike cried out. "Guard yourself! Put your...arms up!" This would not end well.
What happened next couldn't have been guessed by anyone. Hearing his trainer's words, some switch inside of his head must have finally flipped. With a quick snap of electricity, Beacon's body suddenly disappeared in a giant mass of fluffy white cotton that swelled out from his body. The Persian hissed at sudden transformation and skidded to a halt, but the Nidorino remained undeterred, and crashed into the giant ball of cotton, which floated away harmlessly, bouncing off the wall and rolling off to the side of the arena. The Nidorino looked on in confusion, unaware of the green blur that had just landed on the Persian behind him, or the foot that then connected with the side of his head, sending him into the wall, but with much less grace then Beacon.
Good work, P.B.! Mike cheered, giving his Pokemon a thumbs up. Once again, master. Always something. The Breloom's attention snapped to the room above where Kasiya had gone. Her thoughts were getting erratic. The fact that he could detect them in this chaos only made him worry more. Mistress Kasiya is becoming increasingly agitated! Portabello called out, dodging to the side of a Hitmonlee's kick.
Mike looked up, seeing a small squadron of Rockets making their way to Kasiya. It was time to clear this room! He released Napalm, and commanded him to torch anything in his way, save the still thrashing Tyranitar. With a compliant 'Mag', the Blast Pokemon raised his arm cannons and began immolating the remaining Pokemon that didn't have the brains to flee.

Riza was just about to leave for Mt. Moon when she thought of something else, which was that even with lots of training along the way to Pewter City, what if Selena wasn't strong enough to handle the gym, especially on her own? It may have been a rock-type gym but she wanted to let both Faustus and Eris get some more battles in, and while the Dratini would be fine, Eris was a fire-type and at a major disadvantage. Sure she had her Extrasensory but Riza wanted something else. Something unexpected. Recalling that she'd seen a good selection of TMs at the mart in Cerulean when she went shopping for Faustus before she she made a return trip, knowing that her winnings from beating Misty should cover at least one new move for the Quilava. As she neared the store she let the fire-type out of her poke ball for company.
She browsed for quite a while, taking way more time than she really needed to, not at all caring that some of the patrons of the shop seemed to be annoyed by the Quilava wandering around free. For the most part Eris was behaving herself however, keeping her flames in check as she seemed to know that her trainer was shopping for her. Riza also used her pokedex as she went along, and she finally picked one and carried it to the checkout. It only cost her $2000 and she smiled warmly at the clerk as she accepted her change and left the store, Eris eagerly following after her in an almost puppy like fashion.
She set off along Route 4, still a little annoyed by her previous battle with Jaden and the fact that she'd forgotten that you can't fly to a place you haven't been before, at least not easily and she didn't want to risk having Plua dump her off over a forest or lake or something. She went along for a while before she stopped and used the new TM on Eris, who was absolutely ecstatic. They walked on a bit further before spotting a Rattata nosing at the ground nearby, and the raven haired girl smiled darkly. "Eris, let's give your new Dig a try," she said quietly. In a flash of flames, Eris had practically dove into the ground, leaving only a small hill of dirt to show where she'd gone in. All was quiet for a few moments before the ground beneath the unsuspecting Rattata burst open, and the Quilava launched her attack, sending the now terrified little mouse skyward. * * * * * Katie let out a small sigh of relief when she saw that Darla had won, and she smiled as the Solosis drifted over to her and rested on top of her head between her ponytails. The little psychic had managed to win, but only just, and Katie chose to recall her so that she could get a good rest. "That was a good battle," Thea said as she recalled her Happiny as well. "I have another Pokemon, actually. Did you want to go one more round?"
Katie grinned, and nodded. "You bet! And I know just the little spark plug to use, too!" Still drawing inspiration from Kilik's might Electivire, she released her Elekid who appeared in a shower of light and sparks. Little Kord seemed like he was bursting with energy as he took up a fighting stance, grinning impishly at the lady across from him as he waited for her to send out his punching bag!
"A spark plug indeed," Thea commented, laughing a little as she released her own Pokemon. Considering that her last Pokemon had been a Happiny, Katie really shouldn't have been surprised when the big pink Chansey appeared. "Start off with a bang, Pound attack," the nurse in training called out.
"Low kick!" Katie called right back, and Kord sprinted into action, clearly not daunted by the bigger opponent. Kord was not only quick on his feet but he was clever as well in that he dove into a leg first slide much like a baseball player trying to squeeze in under the tag at home plate, except that his foot was stretched out and he slammed it into the lower half of the Chansey, causing her to fall forward and over him. Kord popped up to his feet behind her, his devilish little smirk having never faded. * * * * * For a moment, Jasmine thought she had this, as the Rock Slide had been very effective. The gym leader was sure this was just about over, but little did she know, Miharu's Ivysaur had one last trick up her sleeve. When the white light spilled out over the field, it was so blinding that both Jasmine and her Steelix had to look away. "I can't believe it," the gym leader murmured, turning back to see that the little Ivysaur was little no more. A very grown up and powerful looking Venusaur stood opposite her Steelix, and as soon as she unleashed her Petal Dance, Jasmine knew it was over.
When the pink storm of petals let up, Steelix wavered dangerously on the spot before teetering over, sending up a cloud of dust and sand from the impact, and Jasmine recalled her faithful partner. "You were great, Steelix," she said, smiling hugely as the sphere was put away. "But you were greater, Miharu!" she said, smiling over at the younger girl. She waved an arm and a pair of cute little Magnemites drifted over, carrying a shiny steel box between them. Jasmine crossed the broken battlefield and met up with the two little magnets as she extended a hand to Miharu. "Congratulations, Miharu! I present to you the Olivine City Gym Badge, the Mineral Badge! I didn't really use it in this battle, but I'm also giving you one of my favourite TMs, TM 23 Iron Tail!" She beamed as she handed the box over which also contained Miharu's cash winnings. "That was an excellent battle, Miharu! I'm sure you'll go on to the next one without any trouble!"

No sooner had Bishop taken his leave, then was there a knock on the door for the actual room service. Sasha answered the door, letting her date relax on the bed after that ordeal. A sharply dressed server wheeled in a wide array of fine foods that immediately filled the room with a mouth-watering aroma. Natalie gasped at the display. "This all looks so fancy! Like some sort of art gallery." she pulled out her phone and took a picture. "Is it really okay if we eat this?"
"Bien sûr!" Sasha replied, handing the young boy a tip, smiling as he no doubt jumped to conclusions in his head about them. "Exceeeept," she pranced over to the tray, pointing at a rather generously-sized omelette. "for z'his!" Sasha leaned in and took in the smell of the dish. It was filled to the brim with mushrooms. "Oh Bishop you are far too good to me." She climbed into bed with Natalie, swiping a small bit of creme from atop a stack of waffles. "You have," she dabbed it on the girl's nose. "Whatever you want." Natalie giggled as Sasha leaned forward and licked it off, making the exact noise you think she did.
The girls loaded their plates with all kinds of food. Natalie paid particular attention to the generous offering of fruit, while Sasha's monster omelette left little room for anything else. It wasn't until she had it right in front of her that Sasha realized just how hungry she was; still feeling the effects of yesterday's mission. She did the best to maintain her manners as she scarfed down her food. Natalie spent at least five minutes arranging hers in various patterns and snapping photos, almost too memorized by all of the colors to eat. Sasha smiled at the cute display. "You're an artiste!"
"Oh no." Natalie said meekly, lowering her phone. "It's just a hobby, really. I have a camera at home and I just kind of take pictures of random things. It's nothing special."
"I'd love to see z'hem sometime." Sasha grinned. "Maybe you can take some of me?" She whipped her head back dramatically and posed, making Natalie giggle once again.
"I've never had a model before." she said, sampling a piece of kiwi. "I mostly take pictures of abandoned buildings and railroad tracks. Lame stuff like that."
"I'm your first for everything, aren't I?" she teased. "I do shoots all z'he time. I'll walk you through it."
"You're a photographer, too?" Natalie perked up.
"Oh no, ma chere!" Sasha said with a little laugh. "I model." Natalie paused for a moment.
"I feel a little dumb for asking, now."
"I've got one later today in Celedon, actually." she speared a fat mushroom with her fork. "With my favorite photogapher. You're more z'han welcome to tag along if you'd like."
"I'd love to," Natalie frowned. "But I need to be back home today. It's my best friend's surprise party and we're having it at my house."
"Booo." Sasha said, popping the fork in her mouth.
"They are never going to believe this." she said, shaking her head as she looked around the room.
"Z'hen let us give them proof!" Sasha swiped the phone from her and gave her a kiss, immortalizing an image of a surprised Natalie whose brain tried to catch up with her lips.
"I look awful!" Natalie whined.
"I s'hink you look wonderful." Sasha cooed, planting another one on her cheek.

There was a lot going on around her right now, and wary of her new-found allies, Ada managed to hold back enough to keep from causing them unnecessary harm, though any of the Rocket Pokemon that dared come to close to her were greeted by blasts of her Dark Pulse or Brick Breaks to the face. It seemed like their little team was doing quite well, especially when the human released a large, reddish Pokemon that began a fiery assault on any of the remaining Pokemon within the arena. The Tyranitar may have lacked psychic powers completely, but she did feel a strong connection to her trainer, craning her neck upward in the direction the Breloom was looking. For a few moments, the rage within her subsided and her expression appeared almost pained, but it was fleeting as once again her blood boiled over and she blasted yet another hole in the ceiling with a powerful Hyper Beam.
Meanwhile, the three Rockets that had managed to follow Kasiya into their boss' office were suddenly really regretting that choice. They all had Pokeballs in their hands, but when Hiro let out a vicious snarl and herded them into the corner, each sphere clattered to the floor. Fang and Ariel were now guarding the door, the sounds of the occasional Air Slash and Ice Beam cutting through the air. Sirrus, seemingly uninterested in the chaos going on around him, continued to nose around the room for a way to open the sliding wall panel. Kasiya spun the chair around again and stood up, pounding her fists against Giovanni's desk. "How does it open?" she shouted again, eyes leveled at the grunt closest to her. "Where's my Raichu?"
The grunt's eyes darted around nervously. "I-I don't know!" he answered finally, holding his hands up in a defensive manner. "I've never even been in this room b-before!"
"You're lying!" the girl shrieked, causing all three grunts to cower, though the one on the receiving end of her shouts could only shake his head in reply. Kasiya glowered at him for a few more moments before deciding that he probably was telling the truth, as most people would spill their guts with an Arcanine snarling in their faces. "Do either of you know?" she then asked, pointing at the other two. The one on the left shook his head fiercely while the one in the middle averted his gaze. "You two," she said, pointing at the two on the ends again, "get out of here." Neither of them moved a muscle as they were rooted to the spot by fear. "Go! Before I change your mind and let Hiro here burn you to a crisp!" That seemed to do the trick, and it helped that Hiro had loosed a small burst of flames just over their heads, though not enough to set the room on fire. The two grunts didn't hesitate to flee this time around. "You." Kasiya said, now striding over to where the last Rocket stood, flanked by Hiro and Leviathan. "Tell me how this wall opens and I won't have to hurt you."
She could see that he was frightened, and it made her smile. Despite his fear, however, he said nothing; instead only meeting her gaze briefly before averting his eyes once again. "I will not betray Giovanni," he said finally, his voice low. "You may think you're in control now, but as we speak, more of us are on the way. Giovanni will capture you, take your Pokemon and use them in cruel experiments to teach you a lesson in respect. I can only imagine what he'd have in store for a worthless little girl like you."
Normally, his words would have cut like a Scyther's blade, but today, however, it only served to fuel her anger. "Loyalty, hmm? I admire that," she said, nodding. "But, I can tell you this," she went on, tilting her head and smiling cutely at him, "that's so not going to happen. Levi?" she asked sweetly, and the Swampert stepped forward. "That special move of yours - what do you say we show it to him?"
The grunt's eyes widened with the realization that something bad was about to happen to him, but he said nothing else. The Swampert gave a low growl and thrust forward with her powerful arm, slamming the Rocket's shoulder into the wall. Her fins quivered as she drew upon the power that allowed her to use her Ice Ball ability, though instead of focusing it into herself, she pushed it outward, causing the grunt's shoulder to become frozen and anchored to the wall. It took a moment for the ice to settle in, but when it did, the grunt's scream of agony could have brought the house down.
=-=-=-=-= There were benefits to being a gym leader, and one of them was knowing a lot about the regional Pokemon as local trainers tended to use them quite a lot, and though she didn't know where Crenu was from exactly, she was familiar with the Beak Pokemon, Fearow. She had seen a fair number of them in her tenure as a gym leader, especially because Flying-types posed an obvious threat to her Grass-type specialty, and she knew for a fact that they had to rely solely on close-range attacks, which was the primary reason she'd had Exeggutor use Reflect. As predicted, Crenu issued a command and the golden bird sped into action, jabbing its beak repeatedly in the same spot in an effort to shatter the Reflect. A good strategy, at the very least.
The Fearow's strikes were precise and clean, and soon cracks were visible within the wall of light. Pet Shop was definitely displaying his power, but in the meantime it seemed that he and his trainer had forgotten that Erika's Exeggutor was not just going to stand around, idling. The gym leader's eyes were faintly narrowed in concentration, waiting for just the right moment. "Now, Exeggutor, Egg Bomb," she said quickly. Pet Shop's beak landed one final, decisive strike on the Reflect and it shattered, and as soon as a hint of the Fearow's golden feathers were visible, Exeggutor leaned its top forward and fired a large, egg-shaped orb of volatile light at the now-exposed Fearow.
