"True enough!" Kaito laughed. "In the case, how did you sleep, miyuki? Well?"
He grinned at her, playing with her verbally. Perhaps it was a bit childish of him, but no one had ever accused Kaito Aldrich Winters of being mature.

"I slept very well!" Miyuki replied.
Even though sometimes Kaito could get a bit annoying she liked talking to him.
"What are we going to do today?"

"I have absolutely no idea," Kaito replied cheerfully. His tail flicked back and forth. "Some sort of celebrating, I would imagine - apparently everyone's going to be there, taking part in it. And how many people is that, now?"
He glanced down the table at Elrohir, who naturally would know best how many people there were on the ranch.
Elrohir had to think about it for a moment, though.
"Two hundred fifty, give or take," he concluded finally. "There have been a lot of expansions the last decade or so."

"That's one way of putting it," Lin chuckled, "I don't think anyone would have imagined when it first started for it to grow this large..."
It was already a large operation to begin with, but now people had actual houses, they sold horses and who knows what other skills. Haven had done the one thing her father thought would happen eventually, end the slavery of children.
Now it was a small community.

"I think the men ought to take a leave," Elrohir said as Haradhel served the meal. "Find themselves some wives. Most of the danger is gone, it's probably safer here than anywhere else on the continent. We don't just have an army, we are an army!"
He laughed.

Lin chuckled at that, Elrohir had a point about that. Nearly everyone in Haven could fight to an extent, and the very few children born here were taught how to defend themselves. Of course this was back when everything was uncertain and there had been the chance some slavers would want Haven gone.
"This is true," she grinned at the thought.
She wondered if Vanya might like to take a vacation too, now that she thought about it in all the years and different men that had come to Haven as far as she knew Vanya hadn't found anyone neither had she?
"Hopefully Dad will also visit soon once the twins return to talk to him. The twins have kept mom and dad busy," she paused, "And something about misplaced objects but I didn't quite understand that part."

"We going to wait around for him?" Earendil asked Lin curiously.
He knew they were planning on leaving the day after Yestarë, but if she wanted to wait for her father, he wouldn't argue the matter.

Lin shook her head and smiled, "He can visit here without us, but with all the changes going on he does need to eventually have some sort of say in what's going on."
She still thought he forgot he even owned the place, or had planned to give it to Elrohir and Haradhel and forgot to mention anything about it.
Or just didn't mention it because he could be a bit of a jerk like that.
"It's kind of strange despite the fact of the time different in both worlds there are just a lot of changes."
Sure it had been maybe only, four or five years, but they had clan grounds, they had houses, her parents had actual babies. It was kind of strange when thinking about it.

Earendil chuckled. "Fair enough.Though I'd have thought that you'd be used to the changes by now."
They'd been dealing with them for nearly a century by now, after all.

"I am here, but if you think about back in Gaia, portal hopping has only been going on for six years at the most and all these changes. We use to live in an inn at first, now we have a whole set of land for houses for my older siblings, the main house, and there are businesses.... more siblings... some grandchildren."
She grinned looking at Miyuki who was happily eating after thanking Haradhel.
"It's a lot in six years."

Earendil laughed at that. "I guess when you put it that way ..."
He grinned as they finished off the meal. "At any rate, we should get ready. This morning is more reflection than anything else, but there are going to be a lot of people there, and I'm sure you'll want to catch up with them - at least the ones that you haven't yet had a chance to visit since you came here."

Lin paused at that and nodded in agreement, "You're right, it'll also give me a chance to really meet people I probably haven't had a chance to meet."
The population of Haven boomed around the time her mother had become pregnant and Lin had become traveling she was sure there were many people she simply did not know.

Haradhel got up and started to clear the table, waving away Shiro's attempt to help her.
"You all go outside," she told everyone firmly. "I'll take care of this in no time. Go on."
Earendil stood and held a hand down to Lin. "That sounds like sound advice," he winked at her. "Maybe we can get a few chats in before things get started, then."

Taking his hand, Lin smiled brightly at the thought. There were certain people she had yet to talk to. Mainly those who due to demeanor or other reasons were hard to find or get a hold of.
"That sounds like a plan."
Looking down at Miyuki she noted that the kitsune's plate was empty.
"All done?" she asked anyways.
"All done!" Miyuki replied hopping down from her chair.

Earendil smiled. "Then off we go," he said; and with that, they headed outside.
It was a beautiful day. Early though the hour was, the sun was up, and the air was already warming. There was a little bit of snow left on the ground, but only where the drifts had been the deepest; other than that, most of the snow had melted away by now.
The ranch yard, usually fairly empty, was full of people - mostly men, but a few women as well.
