 'Y-your tail--' Goosie sat up suddenly, wiping blearily at her eyes. Her voice was thick as she began to panic, looking around for it. She seemed relieved when she saw it was intact, despite having already seen it several times since her rescue. She lifted her gaze, meeting his eyes and asking a small and confused: 'H-he had it...h-he had it...h-how'd you...g-get it back...?'

 "... I never lost it?" He said, bewildered."What made you think I had...?"

'H-he had it...' She repeated, clutching his arm shakily, '...H-he s-said...y-you...w-were gone...' Stumbling over her words, Goosie wrapped her arms around him again, clinging as she mumbled 'I-I d-didn't w-wanna s-say...w-where they w-were...h-he...k-killed you...' and closed her eyes.

"N-No, I'm still here" He promised, clutching her.

'S-sorry...' She quietly apologized, the sun now beginning to dip into the sea off on the horizon, with the temperature dropping as a result. After another pause Goosie curled up tighter in his embrace, for the moment content to stay there.

"You've nothing to apologise for..." He promised, his eyes resting on the sunset. The feeling of relaxation was something alien to him as of recent, but Goosie's apparent tranquility had done much to calm him. He stooped a little to kiss her forehead.

There was a long pause, the breeze making the leaves rustle all around them. 'You're free.' Goosie quietly said, finally breaking the silence. It was the first smile she'd managed in a very long time. She opened her eyes, looking out at the water and feeling a small, temporary wave of peace.

"We both are" He smiled back, almost feeling tearful to see her smile again.

She lifted her head, eyes flickering over his face before settling on his, barely visible hidden behind his shades. After a lingering pause Goosie leaned up, gently kissing him.

Taken by surprise, Bristan returned the kiss, his furry tail coiling around her. He could not help but smile into it, happier than he had been in a long time.

When they withdrew, Goosie smiled a little again, reaching up to push some of his hair back and then resting her hand against his cheek. Her eyes searched his for a moment, her expression sobering up and deepening before she finally whispered 'Um...promise something?'

She averted her eyes a little, trying to think of how best to word it in her fuzzy, busy mind. After a moment she finally settled on a very quiet 'If he comes back...don't um...d-don't g-get yourself h-hurt...it's pointless...I-I a-already thought I-I was over, so...'

'T-think about it...' She tried weakly, leaning her head into his chest and letting her hand fall, her arm joining the other in wrapping around him again, 'I um...t-there's nowhere safe now...j-jails don't hold him...I-I dunno. I j-just don't wanna fight, I'm tired and um...t-there's no home now. Not really...i-it seems pointless. To try.'
