Ura smiled sheepishly at Lin. "I think he came along more so that we wouldn't get lost," he admitted, "because it was Nadya who saved me from the sun. Lent me some of Galdor's clothes ... I looked like an Arabian, turban and robes and all."
"It's practical for the desert," Shiro laughed. "And really, it suited you!"

Lin nodded, "Yes, I wore a head scarf when we traveled too remember? I got that idea from my time in the Eastland."
Which was way hotter but as one had once said, black hair like Ura's and Lin's needed something to protect it. Actually she was amazed that Shiro didn't need anything for his head, he was just as pale as Kaito even with his wings he probably had needed something for his head.
Realizing she was probably holding everything up she took a seat beside Shiro, and close to Ura.
"Though, speaking of traveling.... did Kaito tell you about our idea to go to the Borderlands right after this?"

Shiro shook his head at Lin's question. "No, he never said anything ..."
Kaito smiled sheepishly. "Aranel suggested Lin ask Rhea for some help with getting used to her wings, especially with katas and such," he explained. "Since Rhea apparently had even bigger wings ..."
Shiro nodded. "She would be a good person to go to," he told Lin. "I've visited her a few times ... I haven't seen her with wings, but I have heard that she's capable."

"I've seen her wings but that was back when we were kids," Lin replied recalling how both Miyu and Rhea's wings helped get the kids minds off of their problems for a bit.
She agreed though that Rhea would be the best person to visit in this case. As fighting with large wings wasn't in anyone else's specialty.
"Also we wouldn't have to worry about the time difference if I trained in the Borderlands. It could take a month or more and doing so at home will mean years here."

Shiro chuckled softly. "Well, we would still have to do a lot of preparations at home," he reminded Lin. "Clothes and food and all of that."
"Which is good," Kaito put in, "because Roydon needs time to build the ship we'll be taking. He said something about a design, and building it ... but by the time we're all ready to go back home, I'm sure it will be done."
Not that he was an expert on how long ships took to build or anything ...

"I know, but it's at least a bit less time in preparing if we do it this way," Lin replied.
Besides clothes was going to be easy to get a hold of (for the most part) and she was sure food wouldn't take long not where they were. Sure there were other stuff, but less time taking to do this the better even with Roydon saying it would take a while to design and build the ship.
Since it was proven the time between worlds is really whonky.
"Besides, it would be best to hurry just in case, after talking to Arwen it's pretty clear that the time difference between our worlds isn't just a simple conversion."

Shiro blinked. "Arwen?"
"Apparently the time difference between our worlds is more fickle than we anticipated," Kaito informed Shiro sheepishly. "Lin would know better the difference, she's the one who was just in the Eastland."
Shiro looked over at Lin and waited patiently for an explanation.

"As you know it hasn't been that long since I've been to the Eastland. Like really hasn't been that long, maybe a week or two. Amora the eldest princess of the Eastland was fourteen when I met her. Today she is married with her first child," Lin explained.
She knew time passed quickly but that had been the quickest leap she had ever heard of.
"Normally for us, we had always thought two weeks was maybe anywhere between two or three years, which is obviously not the case this time."

Shiro nodded thoughtfully, then shrugged. "Look at it this way," he pointed out. "Maybe it means that even if we're gone for quite a long time, it won't be as long back home." He shrugged. "Not that we can say for certain."
"Kaa-san would be pleased," Kaito smiled.

"True..." Lin nodded, "It's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just kind of odd. Though it might have implications for those who want to live here and are living here from home..."
She was referring more to her sister than to Celebor and his family, she knew they would live here permanently, but one day she figured Cindy would go home. Cindy was even older than her Mom by now.
"Nothing bad of course it just means they're much, much older possibly than we're aware of. Not that you can notice no one ages. Except for the period of growing up, Celebor's kids must be adults by now."

"Probably," Shiro nodded. "But that's one of the advantages of having an entirely immortal family. We don't have to worry so much about such things. I mean ... Ojii-san is probably the only mortal in the family."
He grew quiet at the thought. It was actually depressing, when one considered how much time Donovan spent in this world. Though it did beg the question ... why didn't he look as old as he should?

Lin agreed silently she forgot that her father was only mortal, he hadn't changed since she was little, but he visited here too, he had to have added at least three years onto his original age, and he was older than her mother.
"He is.... he may not look it, but Dad should retire from Haven soon," Lin mused.
She wondered why he hadn't yet, she supposed he thought he was still fine, after all he still was as fit as ever, and he didn't even have crows feet.
"Actually with all the frowning he does, he should have crows feet by now," Lin muttered more to herself.

Of course no one at the ranch would ever question Donovan's appearance, they wouldn't be looking for signs of aging. Most of them didn't even know what it meant to age, had never seen humans in the older stages of their lives.
"Maybe Yukito or I should look into it," Shiro murmured thoughtfully.

Lin looked thoughtful, normally she wouldn't have questioned it since she knew listening to Vincent, their people always looked younger than they were so it was normal. Yet, she couldn't help but wonder...
"Just watch, I bet something weird happened that Mom and Dad don't know about," Lin told Shiro.

"Knowing our family," Shiro began, raising one eyebrow.
"Definitely," Kaito and Ura finished in unison.
"I say start with Raven, and then Mia, and Helen and so on, and see who terrified whom into doing what," Shiro nodded. "They're top of my list of suspects if something happened."
