Thiiiiiiiiiis, would be a great part for a snack. I think one of them should look over to see all the other characters sitting at a lovely table, sipping tea and eating finger sandwiches. Kiki could be showing off her famous "banana upside down cake" .
I'm sorry- I just pictured that happening and thought I should share it.
Considering I'm pretty joyful right now this is probably all incoherent. ]]

Shef, having no common sense whatsoever, did not back away, or attack. He stood and waited for Malis to approach--or what he assumed was still Malis. His hands were glowing with a golden glow--the remainder of the golden arrow just recently fired.

Lumah stared at the wall of raging wind through Malis's eyes. The creature laughed and held out his hand.
"You are foolish creatures." he stated, "You cling to life and depend on each other to survive... Why, when you can take all of the power for yourself?"
He looked at the wolf.
"Your love for the human you protect..."
The snake.
"Your foolish faith in the girl's abilities..."
The bird.
"Your pathetic dependence on humankind..."
And finally, the owl.
"Your friendship of this boy, based around lies."
"You all have forgotten your true purpose." he started again, "You all have forgotten that we are not born to bond with humans and become their loyal pets, as you all have done. We are born to protect them... From themselves... Without us, they will destroy their own existence. They are rotting their planet from the inside, and, no matter how we try to keep them on the path of purity, still they seek other devious means of self-elimination."
He pointed at the humans in the group as they stood behind their shield of wind.
"You will all suffer the same fate as your forefathers did." he groaned, "And I will be there, to send you to the afterlife. I am Lumah, the Dark Ether. I am invincible, and I will emerge victorious from this useless battle. You have no chance, humans."
"I will be waiting for you on Mount Gagazth, where you will meet your doom. Come and face me, if you dare, or instead face the destruction of your beloved Earth."
And with that, he disappeared, vanishing in less than a second.

Queenie sniffed the air.
"I believe they're gone," she told Floreta.
The wind shield immediately dissipated in a whirl of wind, and she looked around.
Marina blinked.
"Well, good thing he had nothing bad to say about me," she commented.
Reign snorted as she padded up to the group.
"Don't be retarded," she snapped. "That obviously only means you pose no threat."
Marina bristled in her cat form, but due to Reign's size, the small white house cat was now easily outmatched. Mewling sulkily, she turned and padded back to curl around one of Queenie's large paws.
"So now what?" Floreta asked the group. "Falian is still unconscious, and I can feel myself growing weaker - I've strained my powers far too much. And Shef seems to be lost inside himself." Everyone seemed to glance over at the boy before they all looked at each other and Floreta again. "What're we going to do?"
"I'm not unconscious."
Floreta jumped as Reign shifted slightly in surprise, looking over her shoulder.
"Oh..."
Falian managed to pull herself up into standing ********, I have a Godawful headache," she cursed, scowling and glaring tiredly at the group - as if the sunlight hurt her eyes. "Mind telling me why that b*****d thought it funny to wake me up by talking s**t about my Guardian?" "It's alright - wherever you are right now is where you should be." You know, there's a door open to walk through!
You just need to be brave.
Nothing good comes easily, you see!
The courage to keep faith is inside you.
And everything is a choice!
So you might as well forgive yourself. "I can't tell you how to succeed, but I CAN tell you how to fail.

Shef stood up from where he had been kneeling. Surveying their location, he noticed, finally, the large dragon that had fallen and lay unconscious, near them. As no one else seemed concerned, he walked over and placed a hand, apparently fearlessly, in front of the beast's snout, attempting to detect breath.
The dragon did not stir. Shef remembered seeing another boy around here, for a few moments. Gone now, however. The boy stood up and glanced around, until his gaze fell on Regond.
Then, surprising everyone, Shef walked over and asked, "Isn't Gagazth where June is supposed to be?" Proving that, after all, he had been listening to the old man.

Calentine found himself in darkness. His eyes were open--pain told him he was alive. But no light filtered into this dark and desolate prison. He could feel nothing... see nothing... only the dark shackles binding him to darkness. Then, sound filtered through. Beautiful laughter; a woman's laughter. A flash of blue hair. Then, darkness.

Kiki and her Guardian watched the scene from their secluded tree.
The wind shield had been suprisingly sobering.
Kal and Kiki looked to each other darkly, if only for a moment.
Kiki's darkened hand was held to her open wound as her legs brushed against the dirt of the ground.
He-- Malis, was correct. It seemed to the pair on the treebranch,
that everyone, even them, were only on this journey for their own self-servitude.
Kiki's deep, sienna eyes flickered between members of the group.
It made a lot of sense. Really, they were all waiting to see which of them would be the, "chosen one". Even though there was no chance for survival.
Ether could be destroyed by them, could it not?
All Kiki had asked for was material. Easy. She had no intention of rising to glory for any of this. Adventure was all, and objects. She was too simple to destroy what she loved.
Which was probably why Malis said nothing of her or Odemunk.
A chill shiver ran down her spine as she realized this selfish truth.
Not only for her, but for the entire group.
She had to jump down as the chill worked up to her neck, and she was fine again.
But what Malis had said was intresting. She looked with curiosity over the group as she held out an arm, and Kal landed on it.
Slowly she went over to them- considering this.

"I-I believe so." he stuttered, "But we cannot face Lumah now! He will kill us all!"

Shef tilted his head. So far, he had managed to ignore what Lumah had said through Malis. "So, you do know who or what June is, then? You weren't there when the old man told us about her."

"...Wait, what?" he said, confused, "Did you say rune? Because there IS a rune is the mountains that will lead us to Malis's domain. You said rune, right?"

((The many lanterns on your avatar are proving to be difficult, especially since that, due to a lack of printer ink, I had to snap a tiny picture of it on my cellular phone. But I'm not giving up yet! ))

He ruffled his feathers and turned to Shef.
"We cannot defeat Lumah, for he gives off an aura of pure darkness that will completely drain whoever comes near him." said Regond, "When I was imprisoned there, I saw it happen with my own two eyes. No Guardian or Guarded can lay a finger on him!"
