Colche lifted ehr head again, her brow creased, her eyes dark and troubl;ed, they lacked any of that smile that the island braught to her "Dream, no, go away" she managed to choke her head bowing as she stead it her fingers scrunching at the sides ofher head "don't like, dream go away, please, please" She looked at Emelyn as if she were there to cast away the nightmares whichplagued her thoughts and wouldn't allow her to sleep. She breathed heavily sniffling as she did so, she looked paniked almost like she was hyperventalating "no go back, no, no, dream go away" her forehead touched her knees then as shebattled with herself her fingers entwined in her dark raven hair "dream no hurt, no hurt, dream no hurt" she muttered over and over her breathing still irratic as she held herself in a tight little ball.

"No, no no," Em said, coming closer to the girl, and putting her arms around her- hoping she wasn't afraid of touch. She must have been through so much, to have such horrible dreams- and Em didn't want to make her any worse. But she couldn't not reach out to her.

"Dreams aren't real. They can't hurt you. They can be scary, but no matter what you dreamed, it's gone now. No one can hurt you. You're safe."

"safe?" the girl squeeked, her tear stained cheeks lifting to look at the other girl. She flinched slightly at the touch, but no woman had ever hurt her, no woman had ever touched her in a way that frightend her.Even Aubrey, though er mother figure had hurt her recently, this new change, Aubrey had looked after her, frreed her from the prison that had enveloped her for so long.

Looking up at the femme whom held her she shivered, trembling in Emelyn's arms "Frightened..of..dream" she coughs taking a few shuddering breaths. She wanted so much for the dreams to fade, to leave her be but they never did, she got sleep for a while, sleep, dreams, hopes, happyness then one night they would just appear again, the dark, the cold, the men, the light, the bed, the chains, they would all just hit her and she would be frightend to sleep for fear of encountering the faces which haunted her behind her sleepign eyes. She swallowed herd leaning in to Emelyn and sobbing softly "make go away, plea, please" she stutters, hoping somone, somone who knew how to speak, who understood everything, which was how she saw everyone else on the island, could just make her dreams leave her alone, let her sleep away from the nigth mares.

"Oh sweetie," Em said, enveloping the sobbing girl in a warm, possessive hug, as if holding her could sap the fear from her, "I can't make the dreams go away. But we can keep you safe. Dreams scare us so we can... feel alive. So we can love being awake and safe. So we know that we're okay." She smoothed some of the long, raven hair away from Colche's face. "It is okay. You can cry to get it out."

She didn't even know the girl's name, but felt automatically protective towards her, and hummed low and sweet in her ear, hoping to soothe the pervasive fear that clung to the small figure.

Colche held tightly to Emelyn for a little while, her tears staining the other girls top with those big sad tears long before she lifted her head, her tears starting to stop, ever so slowly though she still held on to Emelyn as if it were a life or death situation. "Colche" she stated after a moment of thought on her part as well as a slight soft, tender smile which unfortunately didn't manage to make it to those haunted eyes. She was still frightened, and she gussed she would have a few fitful nigths without sleep before she was finally forced to sleep just by sheer exhaustion "No sleep, No dream" she whispered lowering her head as if she were embarressed almost frightened of this statement alone, her dark blue eyes closed, she wished for words to say what her dreams were about to somone, she had some of them, she held tightly to the words that her book was teaching her, that other people gave herwhen they spoke and she mimicked "Nice, thankyou" she whisperd hugging Emelyn tightly for a moment, she hoped the womanunderstood ehr she was always so unsure if hershort broken speaches were comprehensable or not.

"Colche? Is that your name?" Emelyn asked, looking into the large, liquid blue eyes with wonder. Had they always been like that, or was it part of her transformation? For she was obviously changed- her body seemed covered in marks, and fur ringed up her back. Her ears, too, were no longer human.

"I'm Emelyn," she said softly, glad that the girl's tears were coming to a close, but still troubled by what she thought Colche was saying. "No sleep? Do you mean, that... you think if you don't sleep, you won't dream? You can't go without sleep for long, Colche. And you can't run from your fears. You have to face them, or they'll never go away."

...But isn't that what I'm doing? Em thought, a small voice in her head reminding her of all the avoiding she'd been doing lately. Hadn't she found her way here by trying to escape from speaking with anyone, to hide away from her own thoughts? And wasn't she harboring thoughts of escape, of running away from this madhouse. Her conscience hissed at her. And I thought you hated hypocrisy.

She shook her head, banishing the voice from her mind.

Colche looked up with a frown, her dark eyes sparked for a moment, but it wasn't with happiness it was with anger "you, no, my dreams" she stuttered closing her eyes for a moment "No want chains, no dark, no men, no hurt, no dark, no more, no, no dreams, no sleep, no dreams" she whispered. The fur on ehr neck stood on end as she looked at emelyn her ears twitching, before her latest change her scars had been vissable but now with the changing of her flesh the marks of er abuse had all bt faded only a few white scards littered her arms interrupting the strange markings that covered her body "Colche, want Brave, Frightened, Frightened be put back dark" she knew she had been told over and over she would never be put in the situations she had been forced in to before she came to the island but her dreams, her dreams broke through these promises , her dreams broke the fragile glass that was her happinessand sank her in to this frightened mess, this child whom needed somone to tell ehr it was okay, to tell her that her dreams would never come true.

Chains... men... hurt... dark... the words stung Emelyn, and she was only hearing them. What must life have been like for her? What had she gone through, that her nightmares were so vivid and heartbreaking?

"The hurt... men... chains..." Em tried to convey to Colche, with halting words as she, too, tried to understand it, "whatever horrible things happened to you... they're never going to happen again. No men will hurt you, and no one will chain you, or put you in the dark. The dreams are just that. They're dreams. They can't hurt you. ...I wish I could make them go away," Emelyn said, still haunted by the imaginings of what this girl had been through. She'd seen victims of abuse and poverty all over the world, but never had she seen such fear, such blatant memories of pain shining through someone's eyes.

Colche closed her eyes, if she understood truely what prey meant, she would truely do it, she would prey to which eer god was listening to make her dreams go awaya nd to make her life happy. She always smiled these days, her life usually lost in the bright shiney island wheer she had family, friends and more, but this dream, this dream which haunted her made her so scared that she avoided everyone, afraid that meeting a male, even one of the ones she trusted so very much, would bring about the pain, the hurt, the dark. She swallows hard licking her dry cracked lips "promise?" she whispers, her voice sounding cracked, more silent than it's usual paltry whisper. Perhaps she just neededa promise, a pact taht it wouldn't happen any more, these dreams always jump started ehr fears even though she was usually quite happy to greet and play and eat and speak with everyone, speak what few words she knew "Emelyn promise?" she looked up at the woman, a child cradled in the arms of an elder sister perhaps looking for assistance for a promise for a hope, for reassurance, if only the dreams would go away.

Emelyn bit her lip. She knew she couldn't promise Colche that she would never feel pain or fear again- for she knew what sort of horrors this island may have in store for all of them. But if she understood what it was that Colche was afraid of, what her past had held... Emelyn nodded, and ran her hand gently down the side of Colche's face.

"Yes. I promise that here, on this island, you won't be hurt like you used to. The men here... are not bad men. And they won't touch you. And no one will tie you up. ...I promise." Em hoped with all her heart that her promise would hold true.

Colche smiled lightly, the smile finaly touching those darkly haunted eyes, her features becoming less severe and more calm, more towards her usual self. She yawns then, almost as if the promise had broken the spell wich held ehr fragive frame in it's cold hands, making her skin so cool to the touch. Her shivering stopped at last, the fur and hair resettling, calming and finally letting the sun kiss her icey pale skin. "Emelynn nice" she whispers, a strange puurr echoeing from her chest, this was a real puurr, something created because she was no longer entirely human. Again she yawned her big blue eyes becoming droopy though she still held to Emelyn. Her eyes closed for a long moment, allowing the drowsyness to hold her for a moment "Emelynn stay? Plea?" she looked up dozily at the other woman, lookign as if she wasn't going to hhold out for another minuite and just to proove this point, her eyes closed again, the soft puurr which cascaded from her body never receedign as she cuddled up to emelyn, still clinging to the damp blanket, her first posession, the last thing that linked her to her oldlife. A single tear rolled down her cheek as he breathing calmed and there, int he full sun, with her newest protector she dozed, a little fitfully, but she dozed the sun warming her cool skin, the smile, that gentle smile, never fading from ehr lips.

"Of course I'll stay," Emelyn whispered, and as the purring child- for that was what she seemed to be, despite the curves on her body that said she was at least into her teens- fell alseep, cuddled up with her blanket, and nestled into Emelyn. As the purring fell silent, and the girl's breaths spoke to an even, gentle whisper of sleep, Em found herself looking over the ocean, and at the splay of sunlight over the water. The peace overcame her... and for a while... she would think...

of nothing.

She had aquired a back pack, who knew from where, if anything it was the magical appearing back pack. Where ever the thing had come from it was now hers and was packed full of books. Books for her leap pad. The leappad was her most favourite thing in the whole world. It taught her words, numbers, colours, shapes, songs, all sorts of things, she carried it mostly every where. Her dreams had finally ebbed to a memory again and she was getting back in to a happy little routine, the beach being her favourite none eating haunt.

Plopping down on the silver sand she drops her bucket and spade, she wanted to build something today, she wasn't entiely sure what though but the bucket and spade was essential for building! She slipped off the back pack and settling down under the shade of a tree, the sand warm even though it was over cast by the cool palm branches. The leap pad made the most wonderful twinkling noise as she turned to the page where she had left it. This was a special book and she was reading it quite happily, learning the words as she went. Strangely a chracter in the book reminded her greatly of Emelyn and it occured to her she would have to tell the hedgehog lady so next time she saw her. She giggles, she was starting to link the people around her to the chracters in her childrens tales, Chubbs was quite obviously pooh bear, or at least in her eyes, Emelyn, well, she would tell Emelyn herself when she saw her. She turned the page the magical sound echoing in the air once again as she used the pen to touch the words and mimic the language she had been denied ever since she was small.

Kim, unaware of it all, simpely walked along the shoreline, not minding when the water rose and wet her feet, neither the mix of water and sand that got over the sandals and onto her feet. The feel of sand was always soothing... Long hairs where sightly curled around her left arm to avoid contact with the wet sand, hands in her pocket as she seemed deep in thought.

As she got closer to Colche's location, she perked sightly at the sounds, removing her hands from her pockets and blinking a bit as she came into her sight. Was there... spots on her skins ? She eyes narrowed a bit, as she tried to distinguish better. Yes, it seemed like so...

Uh.

She shrugged to herself, deciding it was at least polite to introduce herself, making her way at the same pace.

"Hey there." She smilled, once she got close enough to talk.

Colche paused as the voice interrupted her train of thought and her huge deep blue eyes fled up to the new comer. Her brow furrowed a bit but it was quickly extinguished by a smile and a puurr which echoes from her chest "helo" she whispers. Her own jet black, exceedingly long hair hid the worst of her animal features though her tail did give a twitch making a slight part in her strands. She smiles up at the woman curious while at the same time a little weary, new people were hard to get used to, she found it extremely hard to converse with people she didn't know.

Taking a deep breath though she wrinkled her strange nose in a smile, the lines beneath her eyes moving with her smile "Colche" she stated, looking at the girl curiously, she wasn't fuzzy at all was her first most noticable feature, she must have been very new, everyone whom she knew was at least a little bit fuzzy, or scaley in Amayas case.
