"It's a harrness that goes over your shoulders and it has this holder that a baby, like young little baby sits in the cradle of it either in front of the person or behind. Normally the one we have is worn in front, so you have this baby strapped to you in the front so you can carry him everywhere and still have your hands free," Ryu explained.

Lin shook her, "Nuu.... we already did that when she visited once, that didn't go over well. He didn't join us for dinner for the rest of the visit and I was told to stop stalking him because he was in such a bad mood. He doesn't even really like talking to me, he passes me off to someone else to hold. I know more about the person holding me than know about him."

"Ah," Aliya laughed, "I see. Yes, it would be difficult to see someone as scary if that's how you had first met them."
She thought about it a moment longer, than giggled. "Yes," she agreed, "I have to admit I'm having a bit of trouble now seeing him as scary, too. Though I will always see him as dangerous ..."
Elberon blinked at Lin. "May I enquire of whom you are speaking?" he asked her.
She seemed a bit young to be stalking anyone ...

"Well, yes that I can see," Ryu replied with a nod, "It would be hard to see him any other way."
He could still recall his spar with the stotic man, and it was something that Ryu didn't want to repeat any time soon. He thought Ran made him work!

"Oh, that would be Earendil's Daddy Ruel," Lin explained, "I was told if I hung around him enough then he would get use to me and then stop being a bit of a grump maybe. I don't think it's working, but I keep trying anyways."
She shrugged, it became a kind of game.

"It's a mistake to underestimate people," Aliya nodded. Thankfully, that was one lesson that she hadn't had to learn the hard way. She turned off the stairs as they reached the third floor and headed to the room where Triton was going to be staying, and set his sword in the middle of his bed.
"Where will you be keeping your things?" she asked Ryu, turning to face him again.
Elberon blinked, confused yet again. "And ... who is Earendil?" he asked. "Or Ruel?"

"Hmm.... good question..." Ryu murmured at least until Feng nearly tackled him.
"Ryu!" Feng squealed and chuckled, "By the way, our things are staying in that room," she pointed, "That's where are bags were anyhow. So I guess that is where they are staying while we go back to the river."

"Well...." she mused trying on how to explain this, "Earendil is my very good friend, and Ruel is his Daddy."
She tried to explain to him.
"Earendil is all grown up but he's still my friend."

Aliya laughed at Feng's antics and couldn't help but wish that she could have had a relationship like that with her own brother. Of course, the fact that she was seven years older than him sort of hampered something like that, but still.
Elberon smiled and nodded. "It's always good to have a friend who's all grown up," he told her. "Then you don't always have to have your parents watching over you, right?"

"Okay, okay, Feng...." Ryu gave Feng a look as she hopped off of him.
The female Second put her hands behind her back and looked at him innocently. Unfortunately he thought she actually could pull off the innocent look.
"I'll be right back," he murmured as he went to put away his sword.

"Oh... I never thought of it that way," Lin looked thoughtful, "I guess not, then I could come and visit him without a grown up, and that's fun."
Though she was use to running a muck by herself often enough when she went away anyhow.

Aliya grinned and put one arm around Feng's shoulders. "You know," she commented impishly, "I think I'm really going to love having the two of you around to hang out with. It's so exciting with you around!" And she laughed.
Elberon held up one finger of caution. "But no matter where you are, especially if you're around here, make sure that you are never ever alone, and that you always have someone with you who can take care of you if something happens. This is a dangerous world, Lin, no matter where you are ... even here on the ranch, where there are many people to take care of you, there is the danger of wild animals, or of a horse breaking loose and trampling you."

Feng grinned back to the point where she positivity beamed at Aliya, "Well this is the most fun I've had in a while."
There wasn't much besides lessons and even though lessons were fun, there wasn't much back in the Second World. No, no she liked this just fine and with Aliya to hang around with it was even better.

She had seen how big a horse was, she didn't think that would be a good thing if a horse broke out. She was far too small and would get stepped on, as for wild animals... she supposed at her size she was like a snack. Now that was certainly not fun.
"I won't be, or I try not to," Lin murmured, "I promise, that's what happens when you're so small."
Though she wished it didn't have to be like that, there was no such dangers in the world she came from, unless she went looking for it. True there were dangers that could not be helped, but as long as one stayed away from them it was safe enough.

Aliya giggled again. "Well, come on then, let's go see Halmir, he's been working on my painting for over a year now .... though I doubt that he'll work on that while you're here, he'll be drawing you instead. Well, it's been that long for me, I can wait again." She laughed again and leaned on Feng's shoulder, pretending to pout.
"Come on, Ryu, let's go!"
Elberon smiled. "Aye, the world is full of dangers. Of course as you grow, it gets better, so don't you fear."
He paused. That reminded him ... there was something about this young child that was ... different, that he had noticed.
"Do you even have any fears?" he asked curiously. After all, not everyone could befriend Elros so quickly without feeling uneasy around him.
