Seeing as Mrs. Umizu was at the head and Ki wanted to sit next to her, he sat to her left and got as close as he could to her. He thanked her kindly and then went and grabbed a piece of chicken. The chicken was very nice and moist, but Ki refrained from gorging himself. Ki knew that this wasn't a rich family, so he didn't want to take all the food... and come out as a big. His mind darted about the room and landed on the chandelier. Like a light bulb his mind lit up at the brilliance of it. Next he turned to Mrs. Umizu.
"Mrs. Aoi's mom, that is a really nice chandelier and the food is spledaramajamagrandama!" even though that wasn't a word Ki didn't care. He was trying to be nice, especially to someone who let two uninvited guest into her home.
After the comment he smiled graciously at her, then his eyes looked over at Shania. The smile was still on his face when he looked at her, but this time it was a tad nervous and he was biting his lower lip. It wasn't the fact that these were new people... Ki just wasn't used to being around so many. Of course the city has many residents, but they are more like the backdrop to the world. You don't think of them as actual living breathing beings, more like the scenery. Now he was actually in one of the residents houses, and now he realized how big everything was... and how small he actually was. It was sort of intimidating.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye he spotted a photo album. Jumping from his seat he went over to it, picked it up and brought it back to the table. Even though this wasn't his house, and this wasn't his, he began flipping through the pages. Laughter started crashing out of his mouth, for on that page was a picture of Aoi (as a baby in the tub). Again he got up, but this time went over to Shania, to show her.

Shania took a moment to study the chicken on her plate. It looked so delicious and the smell drifting to her nose was so pleasant that she wanted to savor it. But finally Shania took a piece and placed it in her mouth. Flavors rolled across her tongue and she gave a contended small sigh. She found herself unable to resist the raspberry jam. That had always been her favorite. Shania glanced at Inanise with a smile. "Would you please pass the Raspberry?" she asked. As she did this she caught Ki's gaze from across the table and gave him a warm smile. She recognized the nervousness in his eyes. She could understand why. But she was glad he had this opportunity to relax more. Taking the Jam, she placed some on the bread and lifted it to her mouth when she noted that Ki was gone. She looked for him and saw he was standing near a shelf before resuming his place at the table. What now? She wondered with a mental groan. I hope he doesn't offend Mrs. Umizu or Aoi. A moment later he was up from his seat again. As he shoved the album in her face she leaned back trying to see what he wanted to show her. A chuckle erupted in her throat at the image and she quickly attempted to swallow it. "Really, Ki. You should ask before going through things like that." she scolded, trying to keep a straight face. But she could feel the corners of her mouth twitching and knew she was failing at her mission. ((Haha))

"Achoo!" Vincent rubbed his nose lazily as he managed to sift through the busy street, unable to focus his half open eyes into where he was going. His languid steps faltered from here and there, and time after time he mumbled a soft apology to whomever he bumped into as he zigzagged his way towards town square, his hanging arms flopping left and right from his hunched shoulders.
He knew he was attracting trouble upon himself but he could care less. Only 3 copper coins a silver pocket watch filled the hollow void of his pockets, and unable to pay for transportation, he had no other choice but to walk 17 miles under the blazing hot sun through a treeless path with little human habitation. He could have chosen the much longer route around through a forest rich of wild animals for him to hunt, but it just wasn't his style. He used to like the sunshine, but the journey made him a change of heart.
He apathetically bumped with a large muscular man, who rashly pushed the young traveler away, who passively flew out of the street, and crashing before the doorsteps of the house of a certain someone ((Aoi)). As he stood up after barely pulling himself together, his dry jaw dropped open and his stomach came to grumble at the sweet juicy scent coming from inside.
Vincent reached out for his stomach, trying to stop the now becoming incessant rumbling. He hasn't eaten for days except from a few wild vegetation that he managed to wash and grind to eat. He hesitated to knock on the door (it wasn't his nature to barge into some stranger's house), but ended up doing so anyway as he lost his balance and banged his head into the door.

(( xDD ROFL, btw. xD There's raspberry juice and strawberry jam xD ....and welcome, Kind Stranger! : D)) Mrs. Umizu only smiled at the energetic lad, remembering the days when Aoi was that young. "Isn't he such a cutie?" she asked Ki, chuckling.
"Mom!" Aoi shouted, scratching the back of his head. He was blushing, but his tanned skin did not make this noticeable.
Ellryna chuckled even more, looking at the embarrased Aoi. "You should see this too, Inanise." she told the quiet pale girl, who finally had her hood down, revealing her white hair and pale skin. She almost looked like a ghost in clothing. "Um...it's...alright." she replied shyly, a faint but visible blush appearing on her cheeks.
Ellryna laughed, enjoying the company. "You children should stop by more often and bring energy into this house, especially you, Ki." she said. Having Ki around was almost as good as having a toddler, but better. His energy seemed boundless and she loved to see youth. "All this youth in my home makes me feel young again!" she laughed.
Aoi laughed as well. "You are young, mom." he told her teasingly.
"Oh shut up!" his mom replied, chuckling.
The one-armed Aoi took a swig of water and relaxed back on his chair. He was full, having eaten almost three platefulls of food. Mrs. Umizu was done as well. "It seems that your brothers will be late again, so you children should continue eating." then turning to her guests, "one's a librarian and one works as a city guard, you see, and both are workaholics, just like Aoi here." she gave him a look, drawing a "he he" from Aoi.
"There's plenty more food in the kitchen, trust me." she told them with a reasurring smile, before excusing herself from the table. "And don't mind the dishwashing. You are all guests." she told the others.
Aoi, however, stood from the table, excusing himself. "Yeah, I'm the only one allowed to help. But please, help yourself to the food." he smiled, before grabbing a piece of bread and spreading butter and strawberry jelly on it. "Mmm."
Inanise was only halfway done with her food, and she watched them all interact with veiled interest. This was the first time she was around so many people, and interacting with them. Each person struck a different note in her, and her impressions were thus: Ki is an energetic young man, hesitant to use his powers for reasons unknown, he seems to be friendly. Shania is a kind person, understanding especially to Ki. She senses power in her, but just how strong and how much is left to be determined. Mrs. Umizu is a strong woman, and although she looks old physically, her spirit is youthful.
We are an eccentric bunch. Inanise thought to herself, before eating a spoonfull of chicken and rice.
Just then, a loud knocking sound was heard coming from the door. Knowing that his brothers would just come right into the door, he knew this was someone not of this household. "I'll answer it." Aoi said, leaving his food on his plate.
Aoi answered the door with a smile, and was surprised to see an exhausted looking person, his head leaning on the door that opened inward. "Are you alright?" Aoi asked immediately. He led the stranger inside and to the dining room right away. The man looked famished.
"Oh!" Ellryna gasped, seeing the starved boy. "Oh my, are you alright?" she asked as well.
"Sorry to put him here right away mom, but he looks like he really needs it." Aoi said, and his mom only nodded her head in understanding, fetching a plate, spoon and fork and placing it before the young man, who sat right next to Inanise.
Ellryna placed ample food on the stranger's plate, knowing that he might choke himself if he took too much, too soon. "Take it easy now." she told the young man.
Aoi stood beside the boy. Although he was kind and let him in, he didn't want to take any risks and find out that this boy meant harm. To most people, Aoi's size and stature was enough to demand respect and/or fear, but he knew well enough that there were some people who could care less about his size or stature. Being beside the boy helped him to assist the famished lad, but also it placed him in a position where he could act quickly should anything happen.
Inanse looked at the newcomer. She had moved a bit to the side and away from the boy. Suspsicion was the first thing that crept into her mind, and she held her powers ready to use in a second's notice. Inanise continued to eat, glancing at the boy every now and then.
In her mind, she wondered just how friendly Aoi was. Old Inshi once told her that although such a trait was good, sometimes it could also be bad. She mentally shook the thoughts out of her head. It was no time to think negatively. Her gray eyes looked at the scene as it unfolded, hoping that this newcomer meant no harm.

Ki it his lip, then stuck out his tounge and closed his eyes, and finally nodded his head in agreement to Mrs. Umizu's comment on the cuteness factor of Aoi. After all the humor that awoke from the pictures, Ki retired the book back to its proper space and afterward went back to sit in his seat and scarf down a plate of food (not actually tasting it, just inhaling it). The empty cavity in his stomach was now full and Ki could have taken a nap if new energy hadn't been sent flying about the room with the arrival of a stranger.
Making a mental note on how, instead of returning back to his seat with Inanse, he was next to the boy. Making Ki wonder how much trust Aoi had in this newcomer. "That was really scrumptious!" Ki told Mrs. Umizu.
Briskly he went over to Shania, though she probably already realized what he had, to tell her of his distrust in this new lad and that it was reassured by Aoi's queer movement to the lad instead of Inanse. After telling her of his concerns, Ki went over to Aoi and stood by his side and giggled. Next he took a chair and put it where he was standing and got on top of it to try and be as tall as Aoi, but he still was several inches shy.
"Hey, Aoi," Ki whispered into his ear, "are you staying here with your mom tonight? 'Cause I was wonderin' if Shania and I could spend the night with you and Inanse." He didn't know what Shania had planned after this, but it would be too far to walk back home tonight, plus it was dark outside.

Shania watched with surprise at the new comer. Although she wasn't completely relaxed about the situation she found herself more concerned about him then worried about his character. He seemed so ill, and he wasn't the first person in the city, especially recently, that she had seen that way. She watched as he was settled down in his chair and silently wondered who he might be. She didn't recongize him and had no idea if he was an elemental or not. She could only sense he was not air. She listened to Ki's concerns but before she had a chance to reply he had dashed off. A small smile slipped across her face at this. But then she resumed her cautious study of the new comer.
((At college. xd But stopped by the comp lab to print stuff out and figured I'd check this. Oh. And. Maybe Shania likes...juice...on her bread? biggrin *dashes off to PHL 201*))

It was dark outside, but Alyssa and Calib Aiken both wandered the streets of Laista. "See Cal? Didn't I tell you that it's a nice city?" Alyssa asked her younger twin. Calib shrugged his shoulders and stuck close to his older sister. Having moved in only weeks before, both Alyssa and Calib didn't know the city well. "But why'd we come today?" Calib asked. "What if we get lost?" Alyssa smiled. "Then we get lost, and hope that we find our way home in time for dinner." Calib shook his head at the simpleness of his sister's answer.

Aoi continued to stand beside the stranger, helping him when he needed. He seemed weak, however, Aoi could sense in him a water elemental, his own powers reacting to the stranger's. He kept a kind and smiling face, but inside he was thinking. He did not know what class this boy was, but he did not want to have an event like what happened between Ki and him to happen again, especially at the dinner table.
Ki's cheerful voice snapped Ellryna from her serious state, causing her to smile at the young boy. "Thank you." she told him, taking his plate politely away and going into the kitchen to clean it.
While she was away, Aoi watched as Ki went close to him and asked him about staying overnight. The tanned man smiled at Ki. "Of course, you're more than welcome to. We do have a guesthouse, unfortunately, there's only one bed in it... and you two will have to share with Inanise." he chuckled.
At the mention of this, Inanise's head snapped up to look at Aoi. "I can.. sleep outside." she told him. She was raised in the forest afterall, and she was more comfortable sleeping on dirt and on tree branches than on beds, odd as that sounded. Old Inshi had a bed in his cave, but he slept on it most of the time due to his old age.
"nonsense!" Ellryna told her, overhearing the conversation. "I have more than plenty extra futons. I've had sleep overs before you know." she smiled.
Inanise was forced to concent. "Oh.. alright." she said shyly.
"Good." Mrs. Umizu said, cheerful. "I'll pick up plates for those of you that are done, and you can settle in more comfortably. Aoi will lead you to the guest house in a bit." with that, the motherly figure disappeared into the kitchen.
Aoi smiled at all of them. "We'll wait till everyone is ready. I hope you don't mind." [[ hehe. LOL. ]]

((The setting of the story's getting strange now. At first, it was night. Then it turned into the middle of the day, and now nihgt? @_@ I'm confused. And oh yes, *bows* thank you for the warm welcome ^_^.))
The last thing Vincent saw was the doorknob fast approaching, and bang, it was pitchblack. He strained to open his eyes, and sooner or later, realized that he was floating in vast darkness, with sparks of light waving around him. "Where am I?" he wondered, "Oh yeah... This is..."
The stranger groaned as he was dragged through several surfaces before finally being placed on a seat. He seemed utterly lifeless, his head down, and his arms hanging by the sides of the chair's arms. The scent was a lot stronger from where he sat, and after a few minutes, he began sniffing. All of a sudden, his head perked up, and began to eat quickly.
After quickly finishing what was on the plate with a big gulp (it surprisingly took him just seconds to finish), he looked around him, and with a cheery smirk said a casual "hello" to all around him.
"My my! What a lovely home you guys got here," he began, already speaking to these strangers like a friend, "The master of the house sure is great at arranging the ornaments and furniture." As he continued to talk, there was just something peculiar in his appearance that would turn someone into suspicion. His pale blue eyes seemed... hollow, as if barely having a soul.

Shania started with surprise upon hearing the invitation to stay for the evening. "Oh, no!" she quickly protested. "That isn't at all necessary." They had already intruded on the meal. She had to admit, it was rather late, but she could still walk back. But then her thoughts drifted to Ki. "At least." she hesitated, studying him. "It's not necessary on my part." Shania didn't want Ki to have to make the walk back across the large city. Nor did she want to tear him away from his new friends just yet. As she finished this she turned and saw their new guest had finished eating. Shania gave him a gentle smile. "How do you feel?" she asked. Shania had always believed in innocent until proven guilty. She was willing to assume this lad was as he appeared until he proved otherwise. But if he turned out to have less then good attempts, she'd be ready to stop him. And judging by Aoi's actions, so would he.
((I'll change the setting at the beginning to early morning. it's just the confusion of a new rp and people trying to fit themself in, I think))

Ki still didn't like this new boy, but he carried on with jovial energy and went over to him. "Hi! My name is Ki," he said, and then began the long introduction, pointing to each person when he came to them, "I hope you like the meal! Mrs. Umizu, Aoi's "mom", but I'm betting is like really his sister, made it. Isn't she a wonderful cook?"
The next moment Ki gave the boy a great big hug and kissed him on the cheek. It was a kind introduction, though probably too over dramatic. He was a fairly good actor, but it only came into play when he was trying to cover up for other emotions. It was probably apparent to Shania that Ki was acting, and didn't trust the boy, but he didn't know about anyone else. The next moment he hopped back onto the chair and gave Aoi a great big hug.
"Oh yeah. Mr. Person; Aoi and Shania are going to have babies-," the next moment Ki was on the floor rolling in laughter and his eyes closed and filled with water. The humor wasn't in what he said, but more in the fact that he said it in front of Aoi's mother.

On the edge of the city, Alexandra sat in a patch of dirt and mediated about the day's meeting. Or tried to, anyway. She enjoyed being in nature, the one place where she could shed her perky attitude and just be in peace.
Wisps of her strawberry blonde hair left her simple braid and lay across her dirt-smudged face. Surrounding her were numerous plants, flowers, and herbs. They were the closest friends she ever had since the sickness took her twin sister, Serena, away from her over 13 years ago.
Looking up at the stars, she sighed. She then smiled softly when she heard her mint plant speak to her.
'What worries you, Alex?' the plant spoke in her mind.
'Nothing more than usual, my friend.' she replied in kind. 'Just the day's meeting was the same as it usually is. Unproductive, and unable to answer any of the questions the populace has about the crisis.'
Feeling better, the young woman, who was a slender 5'4", rose from her garden and started back to her home. She had to be early the next morning, as she had alot to do the next day.
