In fact he had not, but he was a light sleeper and the combination of her movement and her voice roused him. After barely an instant he was upright and alert. But everything was calm and peaceful, just as he'd left it, and he relaxed, set his spear on the ground, and brushed some pine needles off of his arm. He was looking forward to a good swim later; at home he spent a few minutes in the ocean every morning to get rid of the sticky dryness of sleep.

"Good morning!" he said to Vena. "Did you sleep well?"

Vena smiled at Fisk as he awoken, totally not sure if it was her fault that he had awoken. She nodded her head, " Quite well thank you." She looked up, watching the beautiful sky turning ever so slowly blue, "Look." she spoke raising an arm to point at the beautiful sky. She tail wagged softly as it showed she was happy. Her mind was totally away from the fact that they would have to depart, but she knew in the back of her head they would, so until that moment came she'd enjoy the time as it was right now.

Obediently Fisk looked at the sky, smiling at its radiance, then smiling at Vena's. His tail wagged in time with hers. "Here, let's get rid of this and make sure the fire's out." He spread the remains of the fire around and buried any signs of smoke with sand. Then, brushing his hands together to get the dirt off, he laughed. "Wow, I really need a swim." He pointed into the forest. "The stream is that way, if you'd like one too... Last one there is a... ahm... slow! Is slow!" And he was already running.

She smiled, "I think that's a good idea!" Her voice sounded happy. Her paws moved quickly and she ran basically once step behind Fisk. Her eyes sometimes flickering form ahead to look at Fisk. Then back, she tried extremely hard not to let her thoughts wander, but it was slowly becoming harder and harder to get the green wolftaur out of her head. So shaking her head she pushed the thoughts to the back of her head for a later time.

Moving gracefully Vena avoided trees and other objects so not to harm herself, but every now and then when she had a clear spot she check to see if Fisk was still there and if he said anything. Last thing she needed was to get lost.

(Note: Just changing the font color around, seeing how it fits him. :3)

There was a rapid thumping of paws on sand, then nothing... then a massive splash as Fisk took a long, leaping dive into the water. When he bobbed back up amidst the white foam he yelled, "Woohoo!" like a little boy. Then he lazily sank under, came back up to dash the water from his eyes, and paddled around, enjoying how very awake the frigid water made him feel.

((You're font in the latest post looks best to me so far.))

More lighter thumping of paws upon the sand was also heard as Vena chased down teh beach following Fisk. Silence followed as Vena took a massive leap to try and make a splash as large as Fisk's. A huge splash erupted as Vena jumped in, though it wasn't nearly as big as Fisk's. Her head bobbed up as she smiled at him. "This is good." She laughed, bringing up an arm and aiming a slapsh to hit Fisk.

Underneath the water Vena's paws made strong strokes so that the wolftaur stayed afloat. She could feel the cool refreshing water sinking into her fur, making it feel heavier, but at the same tiome lighter. As if she was waking up or something. Vena figured she should do this more often. It felt really good to swim away the waeirness of night.

His head snapped back as he was splashed and he gave a barking laugh, scooping water with both arms to heave back at her. The sunlight sparkled on the surface all around. The sounds of their splashing carried through the forest with the racket of morning birdsong. A butterfly alighted on the tip of Fisk's spear, which he had left on the bank, and then it fluttered away. The taur hovered there in the river, treading water and taking everything in, and exulted: what a perfect morning!

But nothing is perfect, and Fisk knew it must end. He had to finish his hunt and return to his pack.

When he started feeling the coming autumn chill in the water, he waded ashore and shook himself all over like a dog, sending waves of droplets into the leaves that sounded as if it was raining. Then, panting and grinning, he turned to look back at Vena. "It's been fun," he said. "I'm glad I came." After that, though, he wasn't sure what to say. Words again. Why couldn't he find the right words? Snap out of it, he thought. You'll be coming back soon. It's not a big deal.

He picked up his spear and rested it against his shoulder. Pools of water welled up in the sand around his paws as he dried. The breeze felt cold against his wet skin. "Well..." And he bit his lip ruefully and didn't say any more.

Her arm came up to stop the water from hitting her in the face, but of course, it didn't work, causing her to get the water in her face. She laughed a nice gentle howling laugh. Looking at the water she could see the beautiful shafts of sunlight shifting through the water. Her piercing blue eyes watched the beautiful sight before her, totally unaware that Fisk had left the water.

Looking up her gaze showed she just realized it was time that they parted. Walking, using careful steps, Vena came up a bit off form Fisk, only to shake her firery coat free of the clinging water.

As she finished shaking herself, Vena run a quick hand over her fur and hair straightening it out herself as she walked over to Fisk. "Yes, fun it has been." She agreed with a smile, "I'm glad you came too." She felt a alight warming feeling coming to her cheeks and prayed to what ever god she was supposed to that Fisk wouldn't notice her slightly shaded face.

Vena lifted one paw and scraped it across the sand beneath her paws. When he spoke she watched and thought hard. She didn't know what to say, or do. Hugging might be slightly odd so she ruled that out. But saying goodbye wouldn't be a bad start, "I guess this is goodbye until we meet again." Her quiet voice spoke. It was more a statement then a question, but it could've been taken either way becuase the tone of her voice didn't make it clear.

Fisk smiled, grateful that she'd said it first. "Yeah, I guess it is." He held out his hand for a handshake, which could have seemed too formal a gesture but that he had a crooked smile still on his face assuring that he didn't intend it to be. "See you in four days," he said brightly.

Taking her own smaller hand she smiled, placing her hand in his as a handshake. "See you in four days." She nodded her head as if to confirm to herself that what she said was true.

As she brought her hand back from the handshake she smiled one last time, "Goodbye." She whispered as she turned to race into the forest, only looking back to make sure she saw his reply, then turning to disappear. For an orange wolftaur, she seemed to blend right in as she dodged trees, leaving the scene behind her, thoughts of the creature she just met fogging her mind as she dashed away to find her brother.

"Goodbye." He watched her go, smiling to himself and twirling his spear a few times, then shook his still-wet hair and bounded lightly into the trees. The mighty hunter was back in business.
