Helms went for a pin cover by hooking the leg, the ref counted. Hopefully this would end the match and get him the gold.

The bell rings and the match ends, the announcer stands up and speaks into the mic, "Here is your winner and the new Hardcore champion....Gregory Helms!" The ref hands Helms the hardcore belt, he holds it in both hands in triumph. Helms gets up to his feet and mocks Cyrus as he points to it in cockyness. He looks over his shoulder and gestures the ref to get him a mic. Helms snatches the mic out of his hand and speaks into it. "None of you thought I could pull it off but I did, now all of you will applaud for your new hardcore champion....Hardcore Helms!" The crowd booed him as he dropped the mic and left the ring while strapping the belt around his waist.
