Hmm "sighing trees" => forest, personifying the trees might allude to the person being elvish...or one of the maia, def. canceling most of humankind and dwarves. "roof of stone" => cave? or good architecture like a castle or halls....so someone of high status "But we shall never see each other again" => some twist of fate separating them....
I still thinking of Elrond and Arwen...although did Elrond ever cry for Arwen? She was his youngest (and only) daughter...
Hm sounds like a noble person, high position yet not above emotion....that strikes out all of the "bad guys"...
Was the person Gandalf?

I'm guessing the "stone roof" means Menegroth, so Melian?

The stone roof does indeed mean Menegroth, but the person is not Melian.

Ok, so we know that whoever it was visited or lived in Menegroth and that they were female. Judging from the last two lines some twist of fate separated her from someone important to her. Morwen?

And I have one: Held in esteem am I, Fairest of lands, sought by many, bearers of heavenly light. Eternal haven, home of gods. What am I? Not the best ever, but I tried. ^^
