Kane's eyes were half-lidded when Kika stopped. Secretly a bit disappointed, he opened his eyes and looked down at her. She had her own eyes closed now and she seemed somewhat upset.
Was she planning something again...or was she genuinely upset?
Her scent was confusing even Kane.
"What?" he asked simply, wondering what she was thinking. Of course he also wondered why she'd stopped, but he wasn't about to voice that question...

Kika opens her eyes looking up at him, shaking her head she chuckles slightly rubbing his neck again "Nothing, just slightly confused is all." relaxing she closes her eyes again. She wouldn't tell him that she like being able to be close and not worried about being attack. Nor would she admit she like that he seem okay with her.
Moving her other hand slightly she attempts to turn it over just so she could flex her fingers. She wasn't use to having them held this long.

Her movement caught his attention and he automatically released her other hand, now that the 'game' seemed to be over again. Plus, he'd started making that strange sort of growl again, and found himself a bit...distracted. He thought he should care about this, but for some reason, he didn't.
In fact, he seemed to pause for an extra long time before saying anything again. Almost as if he had been thinking very deeply on the matter.
He wasn't thinking anything.
Damn his curosity.
"Mind sharing what about?" Slitted eyes blinked back at Kika as Kane tilted his head at her. He did want to know...but he also didn't want to deal with a crying female again, so he'd decided not to press.

Lifting her hand Kika push her bangs away from her eyes, only to have them fall back itno her face. Frowning she makes a face before she looks up at Kane. She wasn't really sure how to explain to him what she was feeling. Biting her lip she looks away for a moment as she thought about what to say.
Rubbing his neck slowly she looks back at him "I'm trying to figure out how I am so comfortable with you. Like this...right now..." looking away she close her eyes, as she didn't want to see the expression on his face.

Chuckling softly while still somehow making the soft growling noise, Kane smirked and shook his head a bit. "Ah, I see." He reached out and playfully flipped the offending locks of hair from her face. "I suppose I should be asking a similar question."
The truth was, he had been asking himself that question...for some time now. Of course, he wouldn't admit it, seeing as he'd come to no definite conclusions yet. Best wait until he had answers...
Pushing off the ground, Kane shifted quickly to lie on his stomach next to Kika, resting his chin on crossed arms as he seemed to study her intently. His wings stretched a bit before refolding themselves against his back comfortably. Why was he still here? He'd spent an extraordinary amount of time with this odd Pae'il who thought she was a wolf. More than he'd have spent with any other Pae'il most likely. So, what was it that made her different? Perhaps, despite their difference in species inclinations, it was because they were essentially so much alike in their ways. So alike..and yet so different. Just enough to capture the attention of the curious feline part of his mind.
Without even thinking about it, but almost like an afterthought, Kane reached up and took her hand, placing it back on his neck after it had been dislodged from his moving. He never said anything. Just put his head back down on his arms and closed his eyes.

Kika eyes widen slightly the moment Kane took her hand, placing it back where she had it. Now she was the one left in shock from Kane's actions. Shaking her head she turns so she is comfortable. Rubbing at his neck slowly she just looks at him more confused then ever.
She wasn't understand this at all, yet she rather enjoy just laying next to him. No fighting, just enjoying eachother company. With a small smile she moves closer so she can place the other hand under his chin rubbing at it slowly.
She would push the thoughts out of her mind for now. It wasn't good to dwell, it only would cause problems.

The sound only grew louder the moment she started rubbing his chin, though it still retained its softness; far from the harsh nature of his usual growls. He wasn't sure what to call it anymore, though he knew it couldn't be a growl. Growls were usually voluntary and something about this...wasn't. He also wasn't angry or trying to be threatening. So...not a growl...but what was it?
Without thinking again, Kane lifted his head a bit and tilted it back. Eyes closed, he couldn't help but notice with some private amusement that he was practically lying beside a wolf, exposing his vulnerabilities...and feeling completely relaxed.
How odd.
'...feels...nice...' he thought drowsily, focused only on Kika's light touch.

Kika smiles before she leans closer just to listen to the noise he was making. It was rather soothing in her mind. It was different from the sounds she normally heard from a feline. Shaking her head she looks up at his face, not realizing how close she was to him until her lips brush against his.

Kane tensed immediately, though he didn't move from where he lay. He simply froze, muscles tight as he slowly opened one eye. Eyebrow raised curiously, he wondered what she was doing this for again. Hadn't she said earlier it had only confused her? Why would she do it again?
...why had she done it in the first place, though?
He knew he'd seen something like this before, but where? Something to do with Takeko...
...and Aspen. Oh, bloody hells...
If it would have been possible, he'd have tensed further as he pulled back away from her. 'Keep calm...don't make a big deal out of it...'
"Didn't we talk about this earlier?"

Kika would have pulled away first but Kane beat her too it. As her skin darken she look away from him frowning "I wasn't trying to do that again. I was listening to the soothing noise you were making. I didn't know when I looked up at you, how close we were." shaking her head she sighs before she lays on her side facing away from him.
If she had a tail it would be around her waist right now showing how vunderable she felt at this point. Being confused then wishing she could hide in the forest didn't help the matters either.

Oh. Whoops...
Suddenly very glad he hadn't made a big deal out of the incident, Kane shrugged dismissively. "Eh, no big deal. Just...making sure," he finished lamely. Gah...stupid...
It was becoming increasingly tempting to get up, walk slowly over to the nearest tree...and beat his forehead against the trunk. Why in the hell were there so many awkward moments? And why did he stay here after so many?!?
The tense silence hung in the air like a thick, descending mist. Then, finally...
"You...thought it was soothing?"

Glancing over her shoulder for a moment she simply nods then turns to lay on her back "Yes, very soothing. Makes me feel calm, like I don't have to worry about anything." with a light shrug she looks up at the sky. Why in the world did she just say that? That was like giving away her weakness.
Looking over at him she smiles alittle "I sortof wish I could make that sound. But I have a feeling canines can't. All we do is growl." closing her eyes she place her hands behind her head. The wind lift her hair lightly blowing it back into her face with made her wrinkle her nose up for a moment.

"Hmm..." Eyes closed for a moment, Kane pondered this thought. It was a soothing sound? Calming? Well, he had been relaxed while making it, so he supposed that made sense.
"Well, to be honest, I didn't know I could do it either," he admitted, shooting a sideways glance at Kika. "Maybe you can too and just don't know it? Have you tried?" He tilted his head curiously, tail flipping lightly in the fallen leaves. Maybe they had something else in common?

Looking over at him she arches a brow wondering if he was right. Shaking her head she sits up slightly "I really don't think I do, but then I never been pet like that either." glancing around then towards the forest she lays back down.
She didn't really knwo how she would react if someone did that to her. Not that she was or wasn't curious. She was just thinking it over trying to figure out everything.

"Hmm...well, it was an honest question," he shrugged nonchalantly, pursing his lips to blow an irritating lock of hair out of his eyes. Darn unruly stuff...
He glanced back at Kika, mind working. Hmm...damned curiosity. He wished he could turn it off sometims; though he had no idea how he'd go about doing that if he could.
Sitting up and shifting to his side, Kane leaned on one arm. Eh, he really wanted to know. For no reason other than his own curiosity and with no other possible motives in his mind, he reached out towards Kika, claws carefully retracted for safety. Touching only his fingertips to her neck, he paused, hesitating for a moment before lightly stroking her neck like she had his. Would she react the same way? Make the same odd not-growling noise?
