Elnara laughed and rubbed the back of her neck. "You make me sound so young," she murmured. "Although ... I suppose I am, really. I just don't feel like it ... so much has happened."

Her bare feet tapped lightly on the stairs as she stepped, and she looked up at Lore. "What does it feel like to have been alive for so long? I mean ... I really can't imagine it ..."

She stopped herself, blushing. "I'm sorry, that was rude of me," she murmured, embarrassed.

"That..." Lore replied, "Is a bit hard to explain, I suppose it's both fast and long time living at the same time," he murmured as he stopped at the door to the second floor, opening it, "After you've lived enough years it seems like time goes by pretty quickly, but when you have more or less forever in front of you, it's a long, long time."

Elnara nodded thoughtfully. "I guess that makes sense," she murmured, stepping through the doorway and waiting for Lore to join her. "Sort of like, when I look back at my life, it seems so short - despite the fact that as I live it it seems to go slowly. That sort of way?"

"Sort of," Lore nodded as he looked for the medicial section of the library.

Though he was thinking the opposite in a way, he knew a lot of time had passed, but the days just seemed to be going by quicker.

Elnara walked slowly behind Lore, her eyes taking in as much as they could and tucking away the details in her mind. The library was so huge ...

A sudden thought struck her mind, and she couldn't help but laugh softly.

"Hmm..." Lore could hear the laughter, not that he minded, it was nice and pleasant, but it peaked his curiousity, "Is there something funny?" he inquired softly.

Everyone was doing as he should unless some univserity student decided to make a mess of things (which is sometimes a bit humourous though not for the student).

Elnara blushed softly, but she was still laughing softly.

"I think I might have just realized how naive I might be," she smiled, her eyes laughing even after her voice was still. She went on to explain: "When I was growing up, I was always in awe of my grandmother's library ... she had - has - the largest collection of books in the entire Four Lands. I always thought it was so big ... and now I'm coming here and there are floors of books, so many more than I've ever seen in my entire life in one place!"

She stopped abruptly, and her blush deepened, embarrassed.

Lore smiled fondly, as he kind of pieced together a bit, coming from a similar background, "Book... or rather paper resources are vavuable, making books an expensive resource indeed. There are lands that purposely grow trees to make paper, these lands are good and while it does take years, it is what allows books to be massed produced here," he also added as an afterthought, "In addition there are about five major schools of learning for scholars, they find our library convient, so rather than put resources into expanding their own, they put it into this one. Patrons who wish to make a good name for themselves also help the library grow," he explained, "That is the only reasons why this place has become as large as it is now."

Elnara smiled warmly. "I think it's wonderful that people care that much," she murmured. "I mean, our people all learned to read and write - but there were very few who actually owned more than one or two books, and no one cared to own more. Or could afford to ... and really, how many people dared visit my grandmother just to ask for a book from the library? Very few ..."

She shrugged.

"Well, I think one of the reasons is the education system, it's rare in these cities that it is the parent that teaches the child everything. Children," he coughed, "In theory, I say in theory because it is dreadfully difficult to track people down, are required to go to schools until they have fulfilled the education requirements."

He shrugged a bit at that.

"Part of what they do, is that they encourage the children to do research," he points out two young people sitting in one corner, "Those two are doing last minute research on some topic of history their teacher gave them. They are to read, take notes and write an essay on the topic, and provide proper referencing," he laughed, "Everyone who works here keeps telling them not to leave it at the last minute, after all there are only so many books on the a subject and you want to get the best first."

Elnara followed Lore's finger with her eyes and nodded. "I hadn't even heard of people not teaching their own children until I came here ... and though I know Celebor's happy to have started school, I still want to teach my own children as much as I can."

She shrugged.

"Yes true, it's fine actually to teach your own child, it doesn't matter," Lore replied finally coming to the medical section, "Many of the clans in Gaia still teach their own children, now which books or what type did you need?"

"Well," Elnara mused, "we're studying anatomy ... anything on the anatomy of different races? I mean, I don't need anything ... it's more just for interest's sake, since the kids are looking at books I thought I might as well." She shrugged.
PostPosted: Mon May 21, 2007 9:14 pm

Lore thought for a minute, "There should be a nice picture and overall altas type book of the basic races," he mused thoughtfully going through the book shelf, "Assuming no one took it out, but mutli race medince is rare."

"Well, Yuki and I thought I might as well see what I can do with my healing," Elnara told him, following him and looking at the books. "And of course, what with the variety of students at the school, he thought it would be a good idea if I know about them, and anatomy's the most basic step, right? He says, if I'm going to be healing, I might as well know what I'm doing."
