Chuckling softly Caelen eyed the older stallion for a moment or two while pondering his response, "Oh nay, I'm an emotional enough stallion when the mood suits me. I've jest not been one fer overly emotional relationships with other stallions. Call me old fashion but a slap on the back or a knockin' o' hooves suits better than nuzzlin' each other like two ole' biddies."
"The lass is a bit torn. I'm thinkin' that if I hadna gone away fer awhile she'dve found a way ter be rid 'o herself til she wanted ter see me again." Chuckling softly he winked up at that stallion, "I jest simply beat her ter the chase an' disappeared so she'd not hav the need ter hide." This Marina sounded like a whole barrel of fun.. If only he could have a few words...
'Me mam is prolly what kept me family tergether all the years we did. I miss the ole lady.. naggin' an all I must admit." With a quick shifting of his weight Caelen's eyes lost focus for just a moment or two, "Mam's been a bit off these last few years. We lost me dah in a fight.. Raidin' another herd. It's a bloody way ter live but he died the way he wanted ter. Not in bed and old."
Mint green eyes widened a bit before he threw his head back and roared with laughter, "Aye sir, I'm nay tryin' ter laugh at ye.." A soft hoot left his mouth before he could stop the laughter from continuin' "Me an' yer lass have a long long way 'fore anythin' would happen." His face turned serious, "Yer lass and hopefully mine someday means a lot ter me. She's a spirit rarely seen around here. To be blunt with ye, Az offered herself to me and I didna take advantage 'o her. I'll nae have her comin' ter me later sayin' I confused her. When children come about it'll be mutual, sir."

Kale chuckled softly, knowing his daughter well enough to see that she'd had done what she needed to get away from him.
Black ears flicked forward and Kale shifted slightl apologetic, "I'm sorry for your loss." He murmured; it was only right to say such. He had just recently reunited with his father, quite briefly as a matter of fact but....his father wasn't the type to hang around consistently. Kale probably had a smattering of other siblings aside from his own. All would have different mothers of course.
Kale raised an eyebrow at the green stallion as he laughed, though he let all of it roll off of him. Hopefully the laughter was a good sign. He listened quietly, ears flicking once or twice, as Caelen explained things. "That is....surprising." He murmured finally, surprised that his own daughter--the very one who always claimed solitude was preferable to companionship--would do something like that. He finally nodded once, "I see, good luck with that hope though, Azariel isn't one to give in to that easily." Ha, more like never. Azariel had always been against children of her own.
His head turned a bit, ears catching the faint murmurings of words. Was Azariel back already? She cooled down a bit faster than he would have guessed.

Kale was an understanding sort, probably a very good father under the correct circumstances. Being forced to deal with rambunctious children and the questioning of where precisely their mam had gone to had probably just made it not near as easy to deal with.
"Aye, thanks but I canna say I'm over-sad anymore. Dah went down swingin' an' that's about all he coulda asked fer. A hellion ter the end, aye." The stallion next to him seemed to go contemplative for a moment or four and the urge to question and dig deeper into the family dynamics niggled til he couldn't hold back. "So I know ye now, an' o'course, Az, but what about yer side o' the family? Mam? Dah? Any o' them still around ter spend much time with ye?"
Mouth wide open ready to make a response to what Kale had said about the stubborn little mare, Caelen lucked out when he saw the flickering of ears and the turn of a head. Having Az walk in on him calmly discussing children would probably make enough anger to force the teepee to explode. Tempting as it was Caelen changed his expression to an almost bored air and shifted a bit to look at the door.
Just in case Kale thought he'd taken leave of his senses he winked before "mumbling" in a stage-whisper, "Oi, how I miss that lass.. I canna seem ter keep me mind ontop 'o things anymore."

Kale's ear flicked forward and he sighed softly, a wry smile gracing his maw, "My father is not the best of Soquili. I only recently came in contact with him again." A shake of his head, "I haven't seen him since, but he is not the type of person I would want around my family."
He shrugged and shook his head again, "I also have a brother--only half, but just the same--I haven't seen him in a long time as well. The same with my mother." He shrugged a bit, "The only family I really have is Az and the other children, but they're gone as well..." Ah...depression was trying to set in again, wasn't it? He beat it back with effort.
With the voices growing closer Kale caught the other stallion changing his demeanor and finally whispering--though anyone who tried could clearly hear it. Kale let out a soft sigh. Would things ever be simple again?
----------------------------------
"Enough with the feigned flattery, Caelen," broke in Azariel, her black head poking in to look at them both, "We have a new teepee mate, father," She informed him calmly, smiling, "Mashki says it's okay and I know you'll like her--She's..." She trailed off, looking back out to speak with the other, "...bleh, he name's Rashkae."
Az had indeed calmed down. Quite a bit, actually, and mostly from the help of the new mare that she had encountered on her way away from the teepee. Normally, Az wouldn't have said anything, let alone spill a few troubles to a completely stranger. But Rashkae was different. She was...well, she flt like a sort of mother-grandmother to her already. Though that made absolutely no sense even to her.
She was more calm now, that that was all that mattered.

Nodding his head carefully when the stallion spoke of his father but didn't really have the time to reply before Azariel and someone else could be heard moving closer and closer to the entrance of the large teepee. "If ye had the chance I think we'd all change a bit about ourselve an' our family."
His attention was removed from the stallion next to him and his own green ears pricked forward kneely to listen to what was being said oustide. Nothing between the two, they were both females.. Az and another mare of some sort, seemed to be hinting at anger. A definate bonus.
A new herdmate?
"Feigned flattery? Now now, yer much too cocky fer me poor mind." All lies, all the time excpet he was probably the most honest stallion he had ever met. Not to be too cocky, right? "Rashkae, eh?" Shifting his weight a bit his own curiosity took over and the urge to take a solid peak at whoever was on the outside still took over.
What he did catch sight of was a bit unusual at least in coloring. Blacks and white were swerving and striping all over her body. At least the part of her body that he could see. No hair or face could be seen yet but time would tell. Hopefully Az wouldn't think this has "checking out" another mare. Curiosity killed the cat you know, why not the Irishman?

Curiosity killed that cat. Satisfaction brought both Kale and Caelen back, eh?
The thought of another herdmate, obviously a mare--even Az wouldn't bring just any stallion home and be so calm about it. The voice helped confirm as well.
With a glance at Caelen--why did he just now realize they had an almost identical name?--he stepped outside the teepee to politely greet the newcomer and get out into the fresh air. It was a lovely day anyway.
The new mare was definitely a sight to see. She certainly wasn't going to be confused with any other. The glowing white lines and lack of eyes helped make a lasting impression.
-------------------------------------
"Cocky? I'm hardly any of that, Caelen," She chided, giving him a mock-cross look. She wasn't even angry at him, not annoyed at all; she was far more amused than anything else. A strange feeling for when she was around him.
Something twinged as she caught the green stallion looking at her new herd/teepee mate. It wasn't the most...pleasant of twinges either. A glance at Rashkae calmed most of the twinge. Rashkae wasn't the right person for Caelen and she had said so herself. The perverse pleasure she felt at the knowledge that she was more suited to the irishman than any other in the vicinity made her feel mildly embarrassed for such thoughts.
Just perfect...
---------------------------------
Rashkae chuckled silently to herself, so pleased and amuse by the entire day. She wasn't amused at anyone in particular--she found the young child, Azariel, adorable and terribly cute even with the horrible conflicts in her heart--but the entire day had just been one fun and joyful adventure. Hopefully she had found her new home.
She didn't want to sleep alone anymore.
Well...innocently alone. Who could blame her for wanting company? A soft audible giggle escaped her, her gaze catching on the newcomers. One was obviously little Azariel's father--family resemblence was unmistakable there--but the green one. Ah...so he was the one initiating the conflict. How lovely.

So many things were going on at once it was hard for the stalliont o dice just who he was going to speak to, who he was going to look at, and where to stand so as to make the best of what was going on. Ahh, the trouble with life was that sometimes it got just far too complicated for his likings and forced him to do about twice as much dancing on his feet than he was accostomed to having to have to do.
The stallion next to him looked over ath im for a moment and in that moment he realized one thing. That lass' father hadn't really seen the similarities in the name. That was just as well he had had much more important things to worry about thans names. After all, what did a group of letters really even mean?
Now onto paying attention to his lass and then the mare that seemed to bring a calming effect. Even the desire to tease and rile was much less than usual. Sure, it was in his tempermant to want to rile up and to have a spark going but not too much with such a calm creature around.
"Alright lass, yer nothin' if not wonderful.. but ye already know that I'm sure." Smiling easily, Caelen pushed his way out of the teepee to stand beside Kale again. On the way out he pushed his neck along hers giving a soft nuzzle and touch. She was in a calm mood, so a soft touch wouldn't bug her too much most likely...
...
Well now, the new mare was striking to say the least. Glowing black body with white stripes or was it glowing white stripes with a black body? Hard to say precisely so he'd just group her as a shining mare.
Bobbing his head respectfully to the elder mare... Not to say she was old just that her aura had much more dignity and a timeless clean-edged finish the ordered respect. "'ello there. An' I'm nae sure what the lass has tol' ye about me... but I'll have ter say it's all lies an' I'm Caelen."

Kale was also looking at the new mare, though his gaze was less curious and more...polite. Kale was too gentlemanly to stare and gape at another, especially a male. She did have one of the most pleasant airs about her.
His eyes slipped back to the younger pair and he noted Caelen's motions silently, more amused than anything else. Mm...perhaps he could kill two birds with one stone? Take the apparently new herdmate for his daughter off to get to know her (as if he was going to just let another waltz in without an interrogation) and leave to two new love-birds alone for a moment. That would be a nice change, and good for everyone.
But only in a few minutes.
-----------------------
Azariel huffed softly, "Uh-huh," She mumbled, lipping at his cheek as he nuzzled her neck. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy it--but as before, she wasn't fond of public displays of affection.
"Behave, Cael," She murmured, eyeing him suspiciously, "You don't want people getting ideas in their heads, do you?" She certainly didn't. The all-knowing smirks that would grace the face of those she knew if they thought she had finally "settled into her role" would make her scream.
Whether or not Caelen would actually listen was another thing entirely.
-------------------
Rashkae smiled gently, knowing that it must be a difficult time for all of them, after all, a newcomer had just arrived onto the scene. She still couldn't help but giggle softly; these ones were so vibrant with live, even if they had hardship and not-so-good experiences in their lives.
She blinked and looked at the green Stallion curiously. She hadn't been spokken or odded to klike that for a while. She laughed at his words, "Oh, no! Everything is quite alright, Caelen," She spoken kindly and crisply, "Azariel and I had a nice chat about everything, there's no need to worry about such things." She laughed softly, shaking her head. She could already tell this would be a lovely bunch.

The group around him was talking. Okay, so Kale was more like eying the group and being a bit of a group watcher. He didn’t seem to say too much, but then too when you don’t say too much you don’t get into trouble. Ahh, his mam had tried to explain that several times after making foals cry because he had thought their self-made necklaces or bracelets had been ugly. Sure, they really had been but saying so probably hadn’t been “tactful” or “diplomatic” Och.
Right right.. Back to reality.
“Ye know I canna behave lass.” Smiling slightly at the feel of her lipping at him. Eve if it was a “go-away” or “quit it” touch it was an improvement from what he usually received from her. “Besides, when ye keep tellin’ me not ter touch.. Ye’ll have other people wonderin’ what’s between us, eh.”
Stubborn mare. Shaking his head out a bit, he canted his head to the side to listen to the black and white mare speak to him. “Well then, if I’m nae in trouble I guess I havena been tryin’ hard enough recently.” Winking at the ageless mare before swishing his tail innocently to let it overlap Az’s, “Tis a pleasure to be meetin’ ye. Truly tis, but what made ye want ter be livin’ here?”

Kale watched the two younger Soquili out of the corner of his eyes. Instinct and fatherly duty wouldn't let too much go and nothing either of them did went unnoticed. Kale trusted Caelen...but only to a certain point. It was only their first real meeting after all.
He remained silent toward Rashkae for the moment. He honestly didn't know why, he just....didn't want to muster the effort. it was unlike him, oddly.
----------------------
Azariel snorted and moved her head away, half-tempted to glare at him. Idiot. Why did everything he said have to be true, anyway? Why was she dealing with this so calmly? Why the hell was she asking herself these questions?
"You're going to have to behave at least a little bit, Caelen," She hissed softly in the direction of his ear, "I'm not too fond of bad boys." She chuffed and shook her head, "But if I let you touch without incident then they'll think something's between us anyway. The best thing to do would be for you to stop, because I don't belong to you, so don't go about acting as if I do." She belonged to no one. Especially a green stallion who seemed determined to make something of their relationship. The more something pushed against her, the more she pushed back.
..........Even if the little voice in her head kept hinting otherwise.
--------------------------
Rashkae chuckled softly, shaking her head. "I'm sure that if you tried hard enough, Caelen," She murmured thoughtfully, "You could get into plenty of trouble with your love over there." She smiled innocently, though inwardly, the laughter echoed and echoed. They were a terribly cute new couple. Even if the mare refused to allow it and the stallion couldn't cease his button-pushing.
"Hmm?" She had been distracted for a moment, nothing worth mentioning--"Oh," She laughed softly, "The pleasure is all mine, sir Caelen," She replied back to him, smiling. She paused for a moment, surprised by the question, "Well....I suppose it would be difficult to explain," She mused thoughtfully, "I simply....had a feeling that I should come here." It was the best way to describe why she had come. Any other explaination....was not as apporiate.

Ut-oh. It was lesson time. The last time he had had to teach Az something he had shown her that she really did like his touch and that it was just her mind throwing a rather weak fit.
This time he'd teach her that part of her wanted him to belong to her and vice versa.
Turning and winking so that only Kale and Rashkae could see what he was doing and both would know that he was up to something and not acting the part of someone who has truly given up and or decided that the mare wasn't worth the effort. She'd have absolutely no idea which is what he needed.
Propping up a foot Caelen immediately dismissed everything Az had said to him. She was used to him reply to essentially everything he said well this time the mild irritation he felt and the pride he carried aroudn wouldn't allow for him to give her the respect and attention that an answer included.
Smiling easily, letting his mind and body let go of the black and white mare to focus on another black and white mare... "What makes ye think I've a new love m'dear?" Batting his minty eyelasses like an innocent child. "Ye see, ye've heard it from the horses own mouth that I've nae a tie in the world to keep me anywhere. Slowly, he straightened and put all of his weight firmly on all four legs. "It's been quite a pleasure ter meet the ye miss, but I'm afraid it's time fer me ter be makin' me exit."
Little did the group know, actually, none of the group knew that he did indeed have to leave.. But hopefully his sudden decision to exit would trigger something.. even the tiniest bit of response in Az or else he knew he'd never let himself return to this place again. Duty did call though, and he had to go find his child and herdmate.

Kale sighed, undoubtedly amused by the other stallions actions, but knowing Azariel would not take to the other boys actions kindly. She never took well to anything unfavorable, she never had.
If Caelen wanted to get himself injured or do whatever else he wished, that was no business of Kale's. Only if he tried to do something to, with or against his daughter would Kale come into the picture. As of yet, the jury was still out.
--------------------------------
Azariel was silent, blue-green eyes looking at Caelen with mild surprise. He wasn't going to respond to that? An attempt and disagreement or even an agreement would have been nice! The nerve of him!
He was ignoring her too, or at least acting like it. Hmph. Jerk. As if pretending she wasn't there right next to him was going to make her anything other than annoyed! Did he think she would take something like that lying down?
....Wait, what? He was leaving? Since when! And why did she feel the twinge of guilt all of a sudden? Why did she suddenly have the impression it was her fault he was suddenly leaving; that she had hurt him? Oh, lord, don't say that I actually care?
-----------------------------
Rashkae merely smiled at the other stallion for a moment, "New love? Well, I dare say I don't recall ever saying it was new," She pointed out quite calmly and shook her head, light colored tresses invading her vision.
"The horses mouth doesn't always speak the truth now, does it?" She asked softly, gaze transfering between both of them, "But if that's the way you feel, I suppose anything is possible now, isn't it?"
A soft chuckle escaped her and she bowed her head once, "A pleasure to meet you as well, Caelen," She replied genially, "I hope this will not be our only encounter.

Smiling easily Caelen bowed his head respectfully to Kale, the stallion was a nice sort and if all went well then he'd have a chance to meet him again... If not, well then the cards weren't aligned to have the very things he wanted..
He'd never hurt Az on purpose, if she didn't strike to maim him. Someday maybe they'd get along.. but if she still didn't truly care about him then he needed to move along.
Every bit of him ached to turn to look at the mare that part of his mind had already put under the title of "his." He wouldn't let it happen though. If it killed him he was going to ignore her and see if she'd follow or.. well really anything would be preferrable if he were honest with himself.
Could he really just leave her? ... Did he have a choice? Shrugging his thick shoulders Caelen bowed his head to the lovely Rashkae.
"Yer right there I suppose lass." Ahhh, did all long-haired mares have troubles with their hair? Probably... just came with the added weight of stylish hair.
"I've a feelin' that if ye've a mind ter see me miss Rashkae it'll nae be over-hard fer ye ter do so." She was an unusual mare, but not one he particularly wanted to see in a full-blown temper...
Why?
Because she looked the sort that it took a full blown-disaster to make her angry, and then it'd be more of a rampage.
Stepping forward he bobbed his head at the three, not making eye contact with Az, "I'm off now..."

Kale nodded politely back, his braided tail flicking once. "It was nice to finally meet you, Caelen," He spoke politely, smiling, "Don't be afraid to come back whenever you like."
.....Er, at least when Kale was around? He wasn't sure how Azariel would take to the idea. She'd probably be very angry. Ouch.
--------------------------
Now he wasn't even looking at her. That almost took the cake. She hated being ignored, it was worse than almost anything else. She hated when those she cared about ignored her too. It just wasn't right.
So she was defiant to the point of bull-headedness; it was her nature. If she had decided something, she was going to stick with it until she couldn't anymore, it was as simple as that. It didn't matter if everyone and everything else screamed at her that it was different now, she could be--and usually was--more stubborn than a mule on some points.
And there he was, the stupid green stallion leaving and forcing her into situations she did not like to be forced into at any interval. He'd get an earful, that was for sure.
So she did what she wanted to in the first place when he began to ignore her. She headbutted him.
It was only "lightly" and only in the shoulder, but she'd get his attention if it killed her, "Stop right there," She hissed, glaring, embarrassed completely because she had to do this in front of others, "You're not going anywhere without giving me an explaination, you hear me?"
---------------------------
Rashkae laughed and shook her head, "Of course, Caelen," She replied, bobbing her head once to acknowledge his words, "I'm sure we'll meet again sometime, if the fates are willing." She hoped they would be, he was a nice one to chat with.
She promptly dropped the conversation, the events unfolding in front of her and Kale were far too amusing to interrupt, though...it must be quite embarrassing for the younger mare. Poor child.
Pupilless eyes glanced at Kale, wondering how the apparent father of the girl would be taking this. Hopefully there wouldn't be a scene. It would be a bit distasteful.

Bobbing his head once more to the black stallion Caelen ignored the hisses Azariel had made at him until he was out of the teepee, "Aye, I'll nae be a stranger. 'Tis too much of a pleasure ter give up me new friends, eh?"
Now time to make his goodbye's to Rashkae, "Aye lass, we'll meet again as soon as I can manage it or as soon as ye miss me." Such a feat was liable to never happen, at least the latter of the two but he figured they'd bump into each other soon enough.
Now to deal with Az...
"Lass, I've got ter get movin' if ye've a mind ter speak with me I'm sure ye can walk with me out til the edge o' yer lands."
While he may've been planning to teach Azariel a lesson or two it wasn't in his heart or mind to punish her by making it in front of either her father or new herdmate. Even a complete ogre would have more compassion than that and an ogre he wasna. Smiling softly he blew a piece of hair out of his eyes and began an easy pace, keeping his voice soft so only she could hear or their company would have to strain to hear.
"I canna stop, I mean what I say... and I've already started ter leave lass.. What explaination do ye expect? Ye've said so yerself that we've nae a bond ter keep us tergether and if I mean nothin' to ye lass I canna stay and risk getting more attached." The words were harsh and exaggerated.. but he'd get a response if it killed them both.
