i personally have fallen in love with Fushigi Yuugi and all the characters and the story, even though after they killed nakago, it went slightly down hill...

I just started reading Genbu Kaiden but I have to say that I think it's a little better than FY. Don't get me wrong, I love them both but Takiko just seems more mature than Miaka and it just seems more gripping.

jade11sg I just started reading Genbu Kaiden but I have to say that I think it's a little better than FY. Don't get me wrong, I love them both but Takiko just seems more mature than Miaka and it just seems more gripping.

Genbu Kaiden, definitely. So far. The original Fushigi Yugi just dragged after a while, and got boring. Genbu Kaiden is much better than I ever thought Fushigi Yugi was, at any point in that series.

The more I re-read my 2 volumes of Genbu Kaiden...the more I love it. I think Miaka is more selfish than Takiko. Miaka just wanted to get into a high school her mom wanted to, while Takiko just wanted to be wanted.
But I love Chichiri...so I can't say that FY was all that bad. I'm just gonna say that Chichiri and Tasuki brought some life to it...but that's my own opinion ^^

I can't really choose cuz both are good, but I think I would choose Genbu kaiden. It's more of a mystery
then Fushigi Yugi, and I love mystery. oh and in case you're wondering what mystery it's Uruki, is that how you spell it?

I can see a lot of similarities between the two characters... but really, I have to admit I like Takiko more too. She's more mature and not as flighty/ditzy as Miaka

well i think that the old Fushigi Yuugi has a little bit of a complicated story. The drawing of Genbu kaiden is obviously more detailed since the great yuu watase has gotten better. Some people in this forum said that they like the refreshing change in the personality of the main female character. Takiko does seem to have more of a mature kinda outlook. The only thing that she doesn't have is Miaka's perserverance to try and beat the bad guys. Anyways, if Takiko has some of the traits that miaka has, then she'll be a good character no da!!

Genbu Kaiden, without a doubt.
Just looking at the opening sequences, I already liked Takiko more than Miaka. Takiko is sparring with a classmate and Miaka is.. well.. dreaming about food. Takiko, though strong physically, is emotionally weak, which is where I think she went wrong when summoning Genbu. (Lets see how strong you'd feel when your mother died and your father ignored the death, then SPOILER FOR CHAPTER 13finding out your father wrote the book to save your mother. Takiko decided to make a wish to bring back her mom, but we all know Genbu can't do that, which will probably be another emotional blow.)
Suzaku seishi are usually happy to go on board the team. Most of the group is pretty much in love with Miaka, and Konan loves them.
Genbu seishi are different. They hesitant to join Takiko (or don't even want to join at all) and they're feared and hated by the people of Hokkan. Uruki is the only one in love with Takiko, while Tomite's crush seems to go away later in the series.
Takiko is a more likeable character to me.. she's a girl who can hold her own in a battle. All she wants is to be accepted somewhere, and maybe, for once, have someone protect her.

Genbu Kaiden is more interesting than Fushigi Yugi is in my opinion. The storyline is better but Chichiri isn't in it and he is like the best. Limdo is an interesting character though, being both female and male. I would definatly say Genbu Kaiden.

Genbu Kaiden.. I guess I like it better becuase of the difference of Takiko and Miaka. Takiko is..well how do we put..more dependable then Miaka, and she can stand up for herself. sweatdrop
