That's why during an abortion, they anesthetize the fetus, closely watching its vital signs, carefully dislodge it from the uterus, gently remove it through a dilated cervix, and lay it in a comfy bassinette. And give it a non-toxic rattle to play with.

God, that's such a stupid ******** argument. rolleyes Is Mme Zinny going to have to break out the clue-by-four?

I know, right?

My God.

I never heard of anyone talking about an artificial womb. That is a very interesting concept.

Indeed; that would be so awesome.

These are some I hear outside of Gaia and inside of Gaia.

"All pregnancies should end in abortion"

"You have a potential genetic disease, you have to abort"

This one was quite funny. This happened in a classroom at college.

Me: I don't really agree with abortion as a form of birth control
Person: You are so anti-woman
(Mind you, my hair was really short, I wear guy's clothing and I don't wear any make-up but at least this time, I was wearing my feminine pink Jack Sparrow T-shirt)
Me*looks down shirt* Last time I checked I was female and if I was a guy, why would I bleed for a week and want chocolate?
Person: Wait, you're a girl?

EDIT:This one sort of bothers me and to me isn't that intellegent to use in an abortion debate: The side effects of pregnancy and those that use Pregnancy can end in death. I've read several where they have said it as if the death by birth was significantly high. All the women I see pregnant, I see them months later cuddling their new baby.

Yes, it doesn't hurt at all, that's why they use local anaesthesia/anaestesia on the woman. rolleyes

That and the whole "it's much safe then pregnancy and childbirth" is a bunch of crap. It can be very risk and painfully (some even more so then others, depending on the type of abortion and how far along she is-it's surgery, vacuums, ect...). Pregnancy can have risks and childbirth can be painful, but abortions seem even more so.

Some risks are-an allergic reaction
blood clots in the uterus
incomplete abortion — part of the pregnancy is left inside the uterus
infection
injury to the cervix or other organs
undetected ectopic pregnancy
very heavy bleeding
And this is from planned parenthood

Why would people be willing to go through that if they are perfectly healthy and it's not necessary?

There are fewer abortions than births. If you use the avaerages alone and use the law of large numbers, comparing each abortion to each birth, abortion IS more dangerous. Since there are fewer of them, though, there are fewer instances of harm to the woman.

Well...I'm not so sure I'd be willing to say abortion is more dangerous than birth. Logically it doesn't seem like it would be.

Pregnancy is 9 months, and pregnancy itself comes with risks. The sooner you get an abortion, the less chance for something to go wrong from pregnancy, and the less time for serious complications to develop. When you're removing something the size of a walnut from your uterus, it's going to be less dangerous than removing something the size of a melon from your uterus.

I'm not going to say abortion is completely safe. Someone pointed out awhile ago, I think it was broorel, that the statistics they quote contain abortion-related injuries and deaths (though there aren't many recorded deaths from abortion). But it does seem that it would carry fewer risks.

True that the sooner the abortion is done, the less risks it has but even though it's a size of a walnut when most people abort, it's how they get it out is what is dangerous.
What sounds more dangerous? Having someone use a powerful vacuum like machine in your uterus or giving birth? Cause the first sounds more dangerous to me.

The problem about the recorded deaths, I heard some go unreported so it's true, we don't really know how people die from it. So things like that aren't always acurate.

If birth is so much more dangerous, why do women TRY to get pregnant? Why do so many women--even pro-choice ones--keep their pregnancies when abortion is legal?

(I honestly don't know the answer to this; I'd never get pregnant intentionally and it boggles my mind that any woman would rather go through pregnancy than adopt...)

There already is a pregnant "man".

Yes all pro-life women are infertile or lesbiens, which is why we don't have to worry about abortions and support adoption.

Ah what will they come up with next?

It would be interesting to see how men handle pregnancies compaired to women but since most men don't have a uterus and all that, it won't happen.

I guess according to that logic, noone would be pro-choice (well noone that can't get pregnant anyways or never been pregnant).

I've heard "abortion would be a sacrament."

It's as if no woman wants to be pregnant, or as if men wouldn't want to be pregnant either.

And as if men totally dominate the planet, and they don't.

And as if the only reason anyone doesn't love abortion is because they hate women.

Really, it's just an incredibly stupid argument. rolleyes
