Gretr "Nah, Only the few people that come for flowers, that kind of thing. Someone almost wanted some stuff enchanted, but they changed their mind. Mostly I just worked in the lab, out back. Would you like to see it?" Graros needed to show him a few things, get him used to the place before he asked about recruitment. He could show the boy the serious stuff while he thought about the offer. "By the way, what's your name?" Graros asked curiously. "Adan," he answered simply. "Yours?" This guy was awfully friendly for little reason, as Adan saw it. A nervous dread had crept into his spine and was trying to clentch his hands. He always had something to hide and it was always with them, so once he got suspicious he felt its affects pretty deeply. That is to say, he was scared. In the back? This guy seemed to be alone, which may be good or bad. But one guy Adan felt like he could fight as long as he wasn't caught unawares and hit over the head or something stupid like that. He didn't respond to Graros' offer just yet.

"My name is Graros, remember?" Graros only said that, still waiting for a reply. ((Sorry, I can't work much with that. It's also very early. *yawn*))

(yeah, I feel sick too)
"No, I'm sorry, I forgot. Sure, I'd like to see your lab. It's probably bigger than mine," he joked. Whether you were counting his apartment or the small room in the back of the store, he might just be right. Seeing another person's work space might just be worth the risk, he had decided. There might be something he could learn from it by the way it looked or what equipment the guy had.

((I think I feel good enough to post...)) " Alright then, lets go." Replied Graros, leading him into the lab. Currently it had a small center table in, well, the center, and a counter that went around the East wall to the North wall, straight ahead of them. At the end of the counter, on the north side, was a door that had various types of plants covering it. On these plants were some small orange bulbs that seemed to glow in the light. On the counter and table were cluttered lenses, knives, potions, plants, flowers, anything a Plant mage should have. "Well, here she is," said Graros proudly. "I use this lab for everything except for-" At this he stopped. He had almost let out his secret before it was time! He needed to let the boy grow used to him.

Adan gave him a quick look before returning his gaze to the lab itself. That meant he had noticed, but what he thought of the unfinished sentance was harder to determine. "I'm sure there are a lot of things you don't use it for."
Adan knew that if he started the precedent of asking unwanted questions, then questions could be asked of him that he didn't want to answer. It was a part of normal banter that sometimes turned into friendship, questions, but the risk was great for some one who had something to hide and perhaps did not lie well all the time. "You can tell me another time," he added just in case Graros really did want to tell him something. "Can I see some of your work?"

"You can tell me another time," he added just in case Graros really did want to tell him something. "Can I see some of your work?" ((sorry for taking so long, just wasn't up to it)) " Some of my work..." Graros thought a little. Should he show his secrets now or later? He decided to show him a few more domestic plants at first. Walking over to a counter, he pulled a small pot with a green stalk growing out of the dirt from behind a few roses. "This," Graros said grandly while displaying the plant, "Is my most recent piece of magic. At a simple command it will grow into a beutiful flower that changes color according to your mood. It can also be transformed into a shoot again with a different command. Grow." When Graros said the last word the plant seemed to tremble with joy. It then burst into a red rose. "Isn't it cool how this works? I havn't figured out what makes it do this yet, but I think I am close. You only have to water it once every week. Now, Wither." As Graros said wither, the rose seemed to shudder a little bit as if sad. A single drop of dew wound around the stalk as the plant proceeded to shrink back down to size. Placing the wonder back on the shelf, Graros asked Adan a question. "So Adan, now that you have seen this invention, what do you think I should name it?"

(that's ok!)
Adan felt sad for the plant, then annoyed at himself for feeling sad for a plant. "I'm not sure. The girls will really go for it, I bet, if you can give it the right name. Let's see...Uh. Companion plant? I really don't know." He shuffled his feet a little, embarrassed and using the excuse of adjusting his robe. It was almost hot in there after the cool night air.
"What did that color mean, any way? Red?"

He was glad that this was a plant that couldn't completely tell feelings, or it would have been Silver, for Secrets. "But the name Companion Plant? I don't know. You have to make it sound appealing, yet a little mysterious. Well, would you like one of these plants? You can have one of these others." As Graros was finishing his sentance, he walked over to the counter, opened a cupboard and pulled out a plant with a blue stalk. "And don't worry about pay. You can have it free." After he closed the cupboard, Graros walked over to Adan and held out the plant.

You need to give out a list of what the colors mean, maybe even put up a sign in the shop when you have them available there. People will be much more interested if it means something to them personally, if they see the plant react to them." He looked slightly embarassed, even took a step back. "Gimmicks like that work all the time, as far as I've seen. What other secrets do you have hidden back here?" Well, if Graros was trying to get Adan to open up and be herself, this was probably as close as he was going to get without asking personal questions and/or discovering her secrets for himself.

"If you look on the bottom of the pot, there is a list of the colors and meanings. But on your other question, I have hundreds of 'secrets' back there. But the one secret I brought you here for in the first place is one that will change Anthalis forever. Have you heard of the Arcane Underground?" Graros left this question open. Now he had to see if Adan would peice it together. If he did, his reaction would be his choice. Out of sight, vines covered the door to the front. Plants near the doors started to bloom. All of these things would be there if Adan tried to pull something. It wasn't a trap, more a safeguard. If Adan did not join, he would be stuck here for a while. If he did, he would not come to any harm. It would be easier that way.

Adan had felt so comfortable that she was taken aback. The room suddenly seemed smaller, her own secrets in danger of being uncovered. It was difficult to control her breathing after that first gasp, which she hoped he did not hear. "I think I may have heard that mentioned some where before," she said to stall. "My father always told me not to get in the middle of things-- don't join sides," she continued... Took a deep breath. "But I'm going to have to disobey that crazy son of a b***h." Now, Adan loved her father, but she also felt that it was his dealings with the Council that caused him to vanish. He was probably dead, and probably killed by them. In retrospect, that made him crazy for joining sides-- the wrong side. "Underground, underground," he said, feeling that his speech verged on babbling. "I didn't know you called it that. Please, let it be what I think it is. Tell me."

"Before I tell you, why don't we sit down." As he was saying this, Graros pulled up two soft chairs from behind a desk. " The Arcane Underground is a secret revolution movement. It is against the Council, which is overcome by greed. We are lead by Captain, and you cannot enter our stronghold without a special key. We have several mages and a few normal people with us. We even have a few people who support us inside the Council. And if you would join the AU, we already have a mission for you." Graros hunched over a bit. Adan probably would join. "Earlier, you were asked for a job from a Council member. I'm going to take you to our stronghold and you should get your details there. So, are you with us?"

"Yes. But I was going to go to her right away-- I've already done the job, really. Delaying might be a bad thing," he said, trying to explain quickly. "Can you tell me what my assignment is now instead?"
Adan was excited and half of him was determined to follow this group all the way. The other half was asking 'WTF just happened?'
((hehe, sorry, feeling sillier than usual))

"Can you tell me what my assignment is now instead?" Adan was excited and half of him was determined to follow this group all the way. The other half was asking 'WTF just happened?' ((hehe, sorry, feeling sillier than usual)) ((ITs ok. I'm going to be gone all week long, will post when I get back. This one is done in secret. See ya! Edit: I am back.)) "Sure." THey won't mind if I tell him, given the circumstances, Graros thought. "You are going to give her the knife, but make sure to figure out what she uses it for or any other vital info you can get. But make sure that if you get an offer from her, tell her that you will think on it. IF she locks you up until you get an answer, or anything else, do what you think is right. But most importantly, do not give any info away. In fact, here's something to make sure that you don't." After he finished his sentence, Graros reached into his jacket of plants and pulled out a small ball of a flower. "If you are questioned or anything like that, just let this hit some stone or dirt, and it will grow extremely quickly and give off a forgetful gas. There is an antidote, but only the mage that made the plant can make it. This is our backup. Remember me, though. If you think hard enough you will, so you can return here and retreive your memory of the Arcane Underground." Done, Graros let out a sigh. "Good luck, and be quick."
