In light of recent events, the little ferret boy found it increasingly comforting to scurry around and steal, pilfer, abduct, borrow without asking, and snatch anything and everything shiny, then hide it away in his random hidey-holes around the Sanctuary. As long as his mind was on something positive that absorbed most of his concentration, he wouldn't have time to think of what was going on around him. Granted, it was horrible, yes, but he didn't want to think about it. What if he was next? What if one of friends was taken next? He shuddered to think of it, and returned to his task: un-attaching a shiny metal knob from a small drawer in the living room. He had already carefully checked said drawer, and nothing flew out or exploded, thankfully. With a cry of triumph, he pulled the knob off and closed the drawer, then carefully sat down on the floor to study his treasure, twitching his red tail incessantly.

Taem was sitting in a corner, alone. So many bad things were happening all around him! In his hand, he was twirling a small hand mirror. His eyes darted back and forth. It was as if the white and black fox was just anticipating that he would be next. Why not? It seemed every person he thought wouldn't be taken... was.
But he was shaken out of his thoughts when someone came into the room. He was drawn to the newcomer, especially the twitchy tail. "You scared too...?" he asked, eying the character.

With a squeal he jumped and fell over, and whipped his head around to look at Taem. When did he get there? "Oh, yeah.. I've been trying to keep my mind off of everything that's happening by collecting shiny things," he said with a small grin, holding up the shiny knob to the drawer. "If I concentrate on other things, then there's no more room for me to think about anything else. It's worked so far, at least," he said with a shrug, then got up and walked over, flopping into a chair next to Taem's, pocketing the knob. He reached his hand out for the fox to shake. "My name's Juniper. You can call me Jun or Junie, if that suits you better. What's your name?"

The fox couldn't help but giggle as the poor ferret boy fall over. "Oh! Are you okay?" he asked, sitting up a bit more as he leaned to see if the guy was alright. "Shiny... things?" Taem repeated, giving an odd look. "Okay..." As he said that, Taem clung to his mirror even more. No way was he going to part with it! But he did take the offered hand and shook it. "I'm Taem. Nice to meet you Junie!"

A soft blush crept into his tanned cheeks as the fox giggled at him, but he smiled and giggled as well. "It's nice to meet you too, Taem. Yes, shiny things. I think it has something to do with my nature. I like to find shiny things and hide them, though I do restrain myself at times if I must. That's a lovely mirror you have there," he said, pointing at it. "May I see it, please? You don't have to let me hold it if you don't want to, it's just really pretty." He leaned over as he said so, looking at the mirror, eyes wide. "It really is very pretty. Where did you get it?"

"Well that makes sense. Shiny things are awfully pretty!" he said, grinning. When Junie mentioned his mirror though, Taem clung to it even more. "O-oh, sure...!" he said, trying not to wince as he held it out to the ferret. He made a face, trying to remember. "I don't recall where I got it... I've just had it for a long time!"

He took it very carefully, holding it gingerly, studying all of its details. He also looked at his reflection in it and made a face, then fixed some of his hair that had fallen out of place before handing it back to Taem. "Oh, it's a shame, I wouldn't mind having a mirror like that. Maybe I'll find one somewhere else, I don't pilfer things bigger than a tennis ball," he said and shook his head, one ear twitching. "It's lovely, though, I love all of the details around the edges. I'm afraid I don't have much that's really that pretty besides -- well, not much." He stuck his tongue out; he almost mentioned something in his special hidey-hole, and he very well couldn't do something like that, could he? "Do you come here often, Taem?" He asked, ears perked. "I'm here all the time, I don't have a home anywhere else."

Taem kept an eye on the ferret. But he couldn't help but giggle as Junie made a face in it. He took the mirror back, cuddling it. "Well maybe you could find another for yourself!" he said, smiling. "Um, kind of. I suppose. I usually just do chores around Youko and Sirius' house." But he usually did it unnoticed.

"Maybe I can, I don't know. I'll have to look around sometime," he said with a shrug. "Well, at least you have a home outside of the Sanctuary, and what a Sanctuary..." He muttered, his tone slightly bitter as he looked around, reminded of all the goings-on that had been happening. He shuddered then looked back at Taem. "I want to get out of here as soon as possible, but I'm not really in any hurry to try anything, not after..." He shuddered again, not wanting to think about it.

Taem shuddered too as Junie reminded him of how horrible the Sanctuary was at the moment. "Maybe... maybe it'll get better?" he said, full of false hope. He knew it wouldn't end until everyone was either dead, or the sniper was caught. "Me too..."

The ferret curled up in the chair, wrapping his long slender tail around his legs, and straightened out his skirt. "I hope it gets better soon... Hopefully the sniper will get caught before anyone else gets killed.." He shuddered again, then looked at Taem. "So what's your favorite thing to do? Hobby-wise. If you haven't guessed already, I like to collect shiny things. What do you like to do?"

"You like cleaning? You think it's fun?" The befuddled ferret asked. How could cleaning be fun? "Oh well, to each his own, I suppose. But being with friends is lots of fun, too! I don't have any, though.." He admitted, ears flattening a bit out of sadness.

"Well... Yeah! It's calming! And fun when I can play some music," Taem said, feeling rather embarrassed. "What? You don't have friends? Well why not? You're a nice guy!"
