"Really..." he replied in surprise. He had wondered what the others had done with their lives, what they looked like now and how he could find out first-hand for himself.
"I'm glad you have so much faith in my lack of work experience," he remarked with a smile. His parents words echoed in his head at that moment, telling him how he was wasting his life and would never amount to nothing. But now was not really the appropriate time to talk about his problems.
"But you're right. It has to be more than just coincidence. Like...some curse! That we're doomed to die here!" He wiggled his fingers, trying to look spooky.

Violet laughed and pushed him gently,
"Well, that wasn't fixing it or anything was it!" she cried indignantly, a grin still wide on her face.
"If we all suddenly die now i will be forced to follow you forever, hitting you repeatedly with my halo," she joked, miming hitting him over the head as she did so.

"Who said you'd have a halo?" He replied with a wide grin, stuck out his tongue and then got up to take off down the pier. He had always teased her whenever they had small talks like this, so why not carry on the tradition? His feet thudded against the wooden boards in an attempt to escape his fate.

Violet laughed and pulled a shocked face. Scrambling to her feet she chased him down the pier, yelling as she did so,
"If you think you can get away with that one you are so, so wrong!" she laughed as she ran. Almost all the memories she had of Richard were of chasing him or being chased, it was just a thing of theirs she guessed. Speeding up she stretched out her hand, just a little off grabbing his shoulder.

As he felt her hand on his shoulder, he turned swiftly and grabbed her arm, pulling her closer to him before swinging her through the air in a circle. "But I WILL get away with it!" He put her down, hoping she was dizzy enough from her little trip and took off again. He too, however, was a bit unstable as the world spun under his feet. It was too late to catch himself, however, and he fell to his rump with a wooden thud, his pealing laughter filling the air.

Still giggling and dizzy, it took Violet a moment to realise he had fallen. Quickly sobering she ran the last few steps to catch up with him and was soon kneeling by his side.
"Are you alright?" she asked, long trails of black hair blowing across her face in the sea breeze as she spoke.

Tears were already forming around his eyes from laughing so hard, and he struggled to breathe. "Yeah...I'm...fine...hahahahaha!" he managed between gasps of air and chuckles. He wiped at his eyes with his shirt and glanced at her. Her hair across her face was simply breath-taking, but he said nothing about it. "You know...I think Jasper takes you for granted. He doesn't realize what he has right in front of him," he whispered with a smile, catching a few strands of her and tucking them behind her ear.

Violet smiled and leaned her head against his hand, closing her eyes breifly. Opening them again she sighed and sat next to him again.
"What would Jesper possibly want with a girl like me? especially with Yumi around," she said softly, leaning her head on his shoulder. Looking up at him she smiled faintly and pulled gently on his hair. It was obvious why they called him angel, and it wasn't just because of his surfboard.

Yumi watched helplessly and Jesper rode away and burried her face in her hands, frustrated tears running between her fingers. I can't believe I've been so stupid! she scolded herself, running her fingers through her hair and kicking a near by pole, only to clutch her foot in pain. She cursed lightly and then checked no one was around. She then rested her chin in her hands and sat, thinking...

"That indecisive girl? She hardly knows what she wants half the time." He patted the top of her head and smiled as she tugged on his hair. She had been like his sister when he had none as a child, the thought of her being anything else no longer entered his mind. He had thought of it once, but quickly put it out of his mind when he saw how she smiled when Jesper was around.
"You, on the other hand, go for what you want. I mean, you got into college all on your own." He kissed her forehead as encouragement that she was a lot more strong-willed that she gave herself credit for.

Inside his head Jesper was berating himself. Running away from hsi problems again instead of facing them. He stoped and turned a corner and entered the untouched upper cavern. Here lay his treasures, liek the armchairs, the skull and most special of all his handmade guitar. He sat down and faced the ground in despair.

Satoshi sighed and stared out into the horizon for a little longer. He thought it was best to get up and go for a walk. Long walks helped him think about his problems. He got up and placed his arms behind his head, stretching. As he started to walk, many thoughts filled his head. Why did Yumi suddenly leave? What the hell did I do wrong this time??

She smiled up at Richard, closing her eyes as he kissed her forhead.
"I may have studied by myself, but you were the one who insisted on practically locking me in my house so i studied," she pointed out, slender eyebrow raised. Sitting up a little straighter she sat oposite him, legs crossed like a child.
"Have you had a chance to go surfing again yet? I know how much you love the waves," she asked, a grin spreading across her features.

Richard chuckled a bit at her response; it was true what he had done to her, just to get her to apply herself. "Not really. I just got back today. And it's a bit too late to be surfing now that it will be night soon. There's always tomorrow though." He stood up, extending a hand down to her to help her up. "I can take you home, if you want. My car isn't too far from here." He pointed in the direction of a silhouette of his hunk of junk, a long thin line on the hood that was obviously his surfboard.
