I am, Vivian answered smugly. She pulsed with power for a moment, energized by success and her strengthened connections with the humans. We've got a whole list of things to get done before all those forces of evil catch up with us, by the way. I do hope you've all got some horses, at least.
Miley was still hidden next to the door, still not sure what was going on. Obviously everyone was reacting to someone he couldn't see or hear--but what was it?
Carilee, meanwhile, was now reflecting on the implications of dealing with a sword straight out of a prophecy. Or at least one that appeared to be. The strange effect the sword's power had had on her magic was still disturbing her, too. She pushed her glasses back up her nose and sniffed. "What did you just do to us?"
Pulled you into the prophecy, I daresay.
((Sidenote, she can and probably will draw power directly from the humans, but since it's spread out over all of you usually it won't be enough to be noticeable. At least at first.))

“Pulled us into a prophecy?” Colby asked, finding it hard to acknowledge the sword as if it were human. “Couldn’t you pull some one else into it?” Even as she asked that, Colby was nearly positive of the answer. She had been chosen, and even if she hadn’t, she had been there when the choosing took place. In all the stories she had heard these things never really gave people much of a choice.

At that moment one of Keldan's mentally files started flagging her befuddled conscious down with some rather important information.
"The Sword of A Thousand Truths!" the memory mentally screamed at her. "The prophesy! Remember? You were just telling people about a couple of weeks ago!"
"Oh yes, that's right," she mentally answered herself. Of course, she added a few embelishments to the tale, but the gist of it indeed dealt with a talking sword and a bunch of adventerous hero types and all sorts of nice things that stories should have. Keldan swallowed nervously. She really hoped some of the... extra excitement she put in wouldn't happen.
"But... this will be fun. A nice change of pace, I dare say."
"Well then. We're in a prophesy, eh? I suppose we'd better get going," Keldan stated matter-of-factly. She glanced towards the backroom. There was no sign of Hock re-appearing just at that moment, so Keldan lightly climbed over the counter.
"Emeralds, you say? Down here?" Keldan asked aloud, carefully reaching for the most likely sword on the bottom shelf. Hopefully Hock wouldn't walk in right then. If he did, Keldan was fairly sure she could talk her way out of the situation. Or at least she hoped she could.

Pull someone else into it? Well how was that for gratitude. Vivian recalled the humans she was involved with the first time such a prophecy occured being similarly reluctant, but really now. This was a chance to be immortalized in the annals of history and legend. They should be thanking her! They'd probably have to survive it first for the immortalization bit to happen, but still.
I'll have you know I waited quite long enough for the right moment to do this, Vivian answered. She would've continued along that track, but one of the women chose that just that moment to hop over the counter. Vivian could appreciate a person who took matters into her own hands like that. Yes, it's me. She pulsed briefly. But you you probably ought to start running right about now if you're going to escape the Hock-man. Touch me to the door and I'll unravel the locking spell for you.

Keldan swiftly grabbed the sword that pulsed and gave it a quick look over.
"Not too shabby," she thought. Then she wondered briefly if the sword could hear their thoughts, or know that Keldan's expertise with swords was that the pointy end was held away from you.
Shrugging off those thoughts, she briskly walked towards the door, and gently touched the sword to the door.
"I suppose the rest of you should come along before Hock notices," Keldan stated dryly, as she waited for the sword to work her magic.

Jarrick considered the sword’s “request,” mentally figuring just how much an emerald-studded, talking sword was likely to cost. More worrisome than that was the fact that he was actually thinking of listening to the sword in his head, though he knew all too well how his dad would handle that. On the other hand, he had come of age as far as he was concerned and the chances of finding another reason to leave the town anytime soon seemed all too slim.
Opting to move on before he could convince himself not to, Jarrick moved within range of the sword and the brightly-dressed woman who held it. “I guess we’re going now then.” Jarrick commented, as much to the sword as to the woman.

You're right about that, Vivian said as she pulsed and, sparing no time, shoved her power into the bonds of the spell until they burst with a sharp pop. Moving would now be a very good idea.
Miley was getting a bit scared now. These people were obviously trying to break out of the store now, and if Hock came back and saw them at it while Miley was still in the store he was sure to get in trouble. Big trouble. Miley had retreated a bit when the odd-looking woman had approached with the sword, but now he pressed forward again, eager to be out the door before anyone spotted him.
Carilee hadn't thought that far ahead; she had followed the general crowd towards the door, of course, but she was definitely on the back edges of the crowd--just the people Hock would see first and catch most easily. Gulping for a moment, she shot a look over her should and tried to think if she knew any good spells for this kind of situation. Particularly spells that didn't need an involved summoning first...
Hock, carrying a large and apparently rather heavy package, chose that moment to back out of the door to the storeroom.

Li, feeling better from Vivian’s burst of magic, stepped in front of Hock. He skid across the counter and started to talk at him. “Hello, sir, I was wondering if you possibly had a nice dagger of some sort in the back. The selection out here is not to my tastes.” Li smiled at the man hoped he wouldn’t really notice the crowd by the door or the missing sword.

"Indeed," Keldan muttered. She quickly opened the door- quietly- and quickly slipped through, Vivian still firmly in her grasp. Walking quickly, Keldan strode away from the store, very intent on not getting caught by Hock.
"This way, I think," she called to the people following her. It was quite a crowd. It seemed everyone in the store didn't want to be caught in the break out.

As he set down the package he'd been carrying and turned around, Hock registered the young man in front of the counter and was about to answer him when he noticed the crowd near the entrance. The entrance he hadn't quite unlocked. What in the gods' names--
"Hey," he called after them, and as the crowd disappeared he shot into action, bustling around the edge of the counter and down the main aisle as fast as he could without knocking anything over. "Hey!"
Duck off towards the alleyway to your right here, Vivian informed her carrier quietly. The rest of you, look nonchalant and disperse as quickly as you can. Vivian tossed out a little bit of magic to help the nonchalant part, but she didn't have much to spare yet. You still in the store--I do believe disappearing while he's distracted would be a good idea.
Carilee, aware that her manner of dress would make her more noticeable--and memorable--was doing her best to keep another pedestrian between herself and Hock, whom she could hear yelling just half a block behind them. Having a large man after her head for thievery hadn't really been her plan for the afternoon...

Li crept behind Hock as he ran out of the store. He watched for a moment to see where he’d start and ran the other way. ”I guess I’m not a very good distraction…. Maybe if I were bigger…” He smiled, “Maybe I should take a few more things… Nah, that’ll take too long.” He ducked into an alley and pulled off his sword belt. Drawing the sword, he made several cuts in his clothes, then sheathed the sword and whipped it across the alley. ”I’ll be harder to notice this way.” He then realized a smile is not befitting of an alley dweller, so he frowned as much as he had been smiling before.

Keldan needed no more urging from the sword to quickly duck around to the alleyway. Her brisk walk turned into a very quick jog after she made the turn, dodging around random piles of trash. She kept on moving down the alleyway, further from Hock's store, allowing the sword to give her directions, if she needed them. Running away from people who wanted you for not pleasant reasons was another talent that Keldan had acquired over the years.
After a few minutes, Keldan slowed, and started to try to look normal again. Hard to do with a sword in ones hand. Strolling through another alley, Keldan looked down at the sword who happened to cause all this trouble (more or less). "So now what, Miss Vivian?"

((err...hope this is ok...>.<))
Beneath the dark canopy of the forest lay a wolf beside a pile of clothing and traveling sack. It's breath was slow and even, fast asleep, fluffy tail tucked comfortably under it's nose. The sun's light spread across the dead leaves and other detritus, finally draping itself casually across the wolf's snout. It sneezed and rolled over, it's hair receding back into its skin, bones and limbs re-aligning until in it's place there lay a young woman, "as nature intended".
Colin opened her eyes and reached for the clothing, slipping into the chemise as she stood up. She stretched and yawned, blinking the sleepiness out of her eyes. It'd been a long night. She looked over her chemise, noting several tears down one side. Sighing she pulled her long green plaid skirt over it, and reached for the bodice. Colin groaned in frustration. Really this IS ridiculous! she said to herself, eyeing the shredded laces as she pulled the bodice over her head. She pulled what was left of the laces out, not much more than a handful of threads the size of her pinky finger, and grabbed a new lace from her bag. She wove it through and tied up the front, pulling it tight. Colin ran a hand through her hair only to find it snarled, matted, tangled, and burr encrusted. She needed a drink. Very badly. She grabbed her bag and set off out of the woods, toward the town that was nearby, hoping that the tavern was nearer.
It was already too late to be called morning by the time Colin arrived in town and she looked about for a tavern with the desperation of a true alcoholic. Once she'd had an ale or two, then she'd worry about the state of her appearance.

((Sorry I haven't been here. I've been without a computer for three weeks and unable to contact anybody. I hope it's okay if I join back in. If not, let me know.))
Noru stepped back as she listened to the sword. Her eyebrows creased and she frowned. Magic was something she did not want to get involved with. No, not at all. If anything, she would barge out of this room right now and never come back. It seemed her decision to stay in this village for a little longer had been a mistake. And after this experience, she was sure Miley would think twice about running off to become a hero. She checked on the boy to make sure he was okay before listening quietly and solemnly to the sword. She wasn ot going to make a comment anytime soon.
But of course, growing up where she had, she knew quite a bit of information about the Sword of a Thousand Truths. That didn't mean she liked what she knew. However, her curiosity tended to get the better of her. As the woman climbed over the counter, Noru made her way to the door. She watched the back where Hock was and kept an eye on the woman. As she walked towards the door and the lock sprang open, Noru waited for the others except for the young man to get out before leaving herself. She was glad Miley had the sense to leave before everybody else.
Glancing down at the sword in her hand and the price labeled on it. She sighed and quickly dug into her purse. Pulling out more money than was needed for the sword, she dumped it on the counter and dashed out. Suddenly, she heard Hock's voice behind her and the sound of him dashing around the counter. She watched the other's turn down an alley, and quickly, before Hock decided to follow them, Noru dashed in front of him and looked back with a haughty wave. Under her arm, she carried the sword from his store. It was highly undoubtful that he would know she had paid him for it.
Making sure he saw the supposedly stolen blade, Noru hurried off in front of him, taking the main street instead of following the others down the alleyway. She made sure not to go too fast, lest Hock not be able to follow her. Hopefully he would take the bait. After all, he had seen the sword she was carrying from his store and not the money she had left him on his counter.

Jarrick, hearing the sword's advice, hadn't wasted any time getting out the door and down the street. He hoped Hock hadn't already seen and recognized him back there; as he shot a quick glance over his shoulder he saw the woman with the sword practically asking Hock to run after her instead of the others. At least she looked like she could handle an angry shopkeeper, Jarrick thought wryly.
Jarrick turned left into the next alleyway, figuring that it wouldn't matter much if they got separated since it seemed like the sword would be able to contact them anyway. As he emerged into the next major street, he slowed, not wanting to look suspicious; there was no one but a young woman in a bodice nearby to see him even if he was suspicious, though. Shrugging at his apparent luck and figuring he had nothing better to do for the moment, Jarrick started strolling down the street towards the young woman.
