Not to be defending either the idea of a sequal or PoM, but at least they're actually calling him Erik this time, instead of just "the Phantom."

I don't think they are. Webber prides himself in his "Phantom". Probably thinks giving the poor sod a name would ruin the "mystery".

That would be rather sad if ALW thought that. I mean come on everyone needs a name. Just cut out Erik's family name (like Guston Leroux did) there's still mystery there, no? 3nodding

I think, to him, if he did that it would mean admitting the character is not of his own creation.

And his ego is far too inflated for that little slip to get out.

OMGZ U MEEN ALW DIDN'T CRE8 POTO?!!!!!?11??!
Ok for serious, though-I am pretty much against this musical as a Phantom Phan. As a musical theater fan, though, I'm a little interested. A whole new score of music (except I guess for some fun version of "Masquerade") for the story would prove interesting. Regardless, I support Otto in his endeavors on Lord Andrew's grand-piano-keyboard-computer-thing. Yay Otto!

I was talking to my friend about the sequel, and she explained her utmost disgust with idea. To which I responded, "But you will go see it. You can't resist seeing whether ALW turned Raoul's...misfortune into a musical number."
What's even more disturbing, I can see that happening. And then, Schumacher gets called in for the sequel movie deal...Urrgh...*shudder*

Right now my insanity level is around...20%, so I don't have anything against ALW. I'd go see it just to know how it is.
Actually, I'd think that whether I'm going nuts or not.

You know what? Don't answer that. That's too disturbing for my liking at this moment.
EDIT: My friend and I started singing improvised tunes along this line. We did an adaption of Memory (thanks to you, Utakan) and also an adaption of JCS. It might just come out on Youtube this summer.)

... xD ignoring that last bit... *coughs*
Webber and Forsythe did give Erik a name in PoM, though. Remember? Mme. Giry, in her deathbed confession admits that his name is, in fact, Erik Mulheim. It'll probably get worked in there somewhere.
*shakes fist in their general direction* Mulheim.
I too commend Otto the kitten for his efforts in erasing this travesty from existence. We ought to make him the official mascot of our boycott.

Utakan And Mulheim isn't French, and Erik is from France. Mulheim sounds Arabic or something from the middle east, I was rather weirded out when I read that, that was Erik's family name. What really disturbed me the most was when 'God' told the priest of Erik's existence... eek If ALW will put a musical number about God talking, that would be just lame.

Mulheim? God talking to the priest about Erik? The afore mentioned songs of Raoul?
This is starting to sound camp.
