This fact isn't technically an animal fact...
It's a bug, but whatever I'll post it anyways.

Cockroaches pass gas every 15 minutes.

AAHHHAAAA!!! i found out but its kinda gross..but now i can live without the guilt of never knowing how they do it ^_^ Because angler fish are so sparsely populated throughout the vast millions of cubic miles of ocean, chance mating encounters between males and females would be unlikely. In fact, when deep-sea anglers were first brought up in trawls they puzzled scientists because they were all females. Then someone noticed small "growths" on the female that turned out to be males. When a tiny male meets a female he bits into her flesh and literally fuses with her body. Like the linking together of web sites on the Internet, the two blood supplies also fuse together so that the male obtains nutrients and oxygen from the female. Without any need for most of his organ systems, such as eyes and digestive organs, the male's body degenerates into essentially a pair of sperm-producing testicles. Thus the female essentially becomes a hermaphrodite with up to six or more of these tiny male parasites attached to various parts of her body. Although functionally bisexual, the eggs and sperm come from genetically distinct parents, thus providing vital genetic variability through meiosis and genetic recombination. As a functional hermaphrodite she can have sex any time or place, without worrying about meeting a male in the dark abyss of the ocean. Clinging to her body like minute, blood-sucking parasites, the males have little interaction with the female, except to fertilize her eggs with sperm. IM SORRY IF YOU DIDNT WANT TO SEE THIS BUT IT WAS FOR THE GOOD OF ME AND SHILOH WE NEEDED TO KNOO BADLY!!!

Lucy Fugus
Orcas and dolphins are in the same family, yes.

A pregnant female bat can eat her body weight in insects every night!

Less than 0.5% of bats have rabies. It's just not as common as people think.

yeah, people have exagerated how many bats have rabies way to much. Jeff Corwin did a test on bats with these scientists and they caught about 150 bats and only about 5 had rabies, if that! lolz

here are some dog facts...

The average dog's mouth exerts 150 to 200 pounds of pressure per square inch. Some dogs can apply up to 450 pounds.

A one-year-old dog is physically as mature as a 15 year-old human.

Dogs chew up your underwear because it smells like you.

A dog's smile runs from the depth of his eyes to the tip of his tail.

Sheep have whole on the bottom of their stomach where lanolin comes out. Lanolin is the oil wich creates a 'sheep smell' and keeps their wool clean.

There is no such thing as a cornish hen sold in stores, they are just younger meat birds slaughtered early.

Pigletts need to have their 'needle teeth' clipped at an early age to prevent harm to the mother during lactation.

Toxoplasmosis is a harmful desease that can be spread to pregnant women by a cats feces and cause an unborn child to be aborted.

- White Tigers are actually a cross between a Bengal Tiger, and a Siberian Tiger

- The white coat of a Tiger is a rare genetic trait, and to produce another Tiger with a white coat, both the male and femal Tigers would have to have the same genetic trait for their white coat.

- The Swift fox is the most rare breed of fox, and is almost extinct.

- Red Panda's are not actually panda's at all. They are more or less like a lemur

Polar bears are classified as marine mammals because they spend most of their lives on sea ice, using it to hunt seals, breed and travel. - Just found this out today thanks to an article on MSN Breaking world news, website.
