(Hee, no worries!)

"South Hold. I'm a herder by birth, was only Searched a few months ago so I was lucky to stand on the Sands today. Where do you hail from?" He really was interested - he lent forwards a bit so he could hear her better over the other conversations at the table - M'haal needed to know something about her after all if they were to work together....maybe become friends.

It was a bit distracting at a hatching gather that promoted eating and dancing more than conversation to his mind. Conflicted, he thought of the stone couch Toranth slept on and the silence there. Such thoughts caused the young bronze to stir.

Confidence, shyness, want of company, want of near solitude, movement, stillness...

Mine?

Don't worry. Sleep.

"Ahh, I've never left the Weyr, I watch the youngsters for those who work during the day," she smiled and grabbed another meatroll popping it into her mouth, "Joo weally stould fry one," you really should try one, was what she had meant to say, but with her mouth full it came out awkwardly. She snickered and swallowed, "try one!"

A South hold, herder, interesting, she would be sure to interogate him another time about his home, see what it was like there. She glanced around a moment, she liked that teh new weyrlings were gathering together, she was sure they would all make great friends. But a pain of jealously swept through her as she noted a a weyrling speaking to his father and getting congratulated no doubt.

"I don't really have anyone here to celebrate with.." she added softly, and right away wished she hadn't said it.

You're very muddled.

"Weyr-born? You'll have a headstart then. I'm still getting used to living here."

It was funny how the dragonet knew how he was feeling. And how natural it seemed to have his lifepartner speaking to him in such a way already. It was as if Toranth had always been on the edge of his mind, connected but seperate and utterly beloved. Should he ever be taken away, M'haal knew, he'd die without the bronze like all the other riders who'd lost their dragons before him.

How morbid.

Hush Toranth.

Hushabye.
Somehow he knew the dragon yawned - M'haal chuckled good naturedly at Layn, her meat roll and at Toranth both. But he sobered a bit at her hushed comment. He took nearly a full minute to reply, careful with his words.

"...that's a shame, Layn. Atleast you can celebrate with me and the others - and your beautiful Ireth"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 12, 2007 3:08 pm

Ireth grummbled restlessly at her lifemate's sudden agitation and woke sluggishly, you have me of course, Ireth will always be here.

Layn was not exactly startled, but was shaken as the sweet voice..if it was an actual vocal thing..shifted through her mind. She'd lived near dragons her entire life, but nothing could compare to hearing her beautiful Ireth.

"That is true, there is almost the entire Weyr here it seems, so let's party!" she snickered.

T'bell heard the whistle, but paid it no heed. He was more interested in the conversations he was listening to and had no idea of the motivation behind it.

Zephyr's head came up on the greenrider's shoulder and tracked the whistle to its source, eyes settling on the figure of E'sar as he emulated the whistle.

T'bell paused and turned to his flitt, rubbing the blue's cheek as he followed his gaze with a friendly smile. "Oh, was that you? He copies things." He smiled at E'sar, clueless. "You're one of the newly Impressed. How do you feel?" The flitt turned his eyes to watch him as well, seeming more like a moving shoulder decoration than the flighty things of many colours darting above.

E'sar knew he'd whistled loud enough for T'bell to hear, but if he was disappointed that T'bell did not turn, he hid it well. He wore a positively licentious grin on his face as he sauntered closer, having taken the greenrider's measure far more than was necessary, and surely more than was appropriate for a boy with a young dragon to think of.

Then the firelizard sat up, fixing its jeweled eyes on him and imitating the exact sound of his whistle. It gave the brunette pause, but only for an instant, a little amused by the creature. He knew by now to be wary of firelizards; the little beasties could be aggressive towards even the most innocent of passerby if they felt their master was in danger, and E'sar was no innocent. But when no attack was forthcoming and T'bell carressed the blue on his shoulder, unperturbed, E'sar relaxed, a little more indolent, assuming that casual, deliberate manner of a young man getting his hopes up about certain things...

So cute! E'sar thought, swallowing back a bit of his grin. "Ah... I noticed. He's good at it," the brunette nodded, glancing at Zephyr and wondering naughtily what other sounds the 'lizard could reproduce. He didn't dare say so to T'bell-- he wasn't sure how to take that smile of his. Did this 'rider seem a little... naive? He couldn't be. He was a greenrider, and even Hallbrats knew about their tendencies. No, he probably just didn't expect these sort of advances from a weyrling... that had to be it.

"Mmm... still a little overwhelmed by it all. It's so much better than all of the stories say," E'sar admitted, answering T'bell's question and darting his glance again to that sage little fire-lizard, wondering at its calm watchfulness. He didn't quite let his thoughts drift fondly towards Luith, keeping his focus on the matter at hand. "And my family... they're already suggesting things about my reputation, since I Impressed a green and all," he smirked, his eyes wandering just a bit. "But I don't know what to expect anymore now that I've Impressed..."

T'bell chuckled and pushed his bangs out of his eyes as Zephyr settled back into his spot as a necklace. "The stories can never get it right, no matter how hard they try. It's so different when it's happening to you.."

At the mention of his family's suggestions T'bell displayed a knowing smile. "Ah yes. Greenriders all have to be the same, don't we?" He shook his head, eyes finally catching the others gaze wandering as he affected a light tone. Despite that, he blushed. "The rumours aren't true, we're not always in heat. You should have a few years before you worry about her flying."

Was he checking him out? No...he couldn't be, he was just a weyrling. Then again weyrlings were so old nowadays. His cheeks coloured further and Zephyr cooed at his shoulder. "You'll be having a fun time with the training, I can tell you that." He steered the conversation towards the dragons. "What is her name?"

E'sar nodded again, giving in to just a bit of the deep affection he felt for his Luith, and knew now how impossible it was to ever capture the full breadth and depth of Impression. But he was really more interested in the color in T'bell's cheeks, and smirked a bit more. "Years?" he repeated on a plaintive note; there was no doubt that he would fit the greenrider stereotype to a T and had no worry in mind at all. Not yet, anyway. "Hmm... I don't believe the rumors, anyway. They say too many things down in the Holds." He shrugged, deciding to play cautiously.

But when T'bell flushed darker, it was E'sar's turn to put on the knowing smirk, and he pretended not to hear the 'lizard's noise-- what he knew was a response to T'bell's emotions. So he was not so naive after all! He had to concentrate to hear the greenrider's words, idly thinking that T'bell could not be more adorable if he tried. Noting T'bell's discomfiture, he blithely let him press on.

"I dunno if I like the sound of that," he arched an eyebrow. "Fun? Every time they use that word at this Weyr, it ends up being some horrible chore." E'sar shuddered at memories from his candidacy.

But he was more than willing to talk about Luith, even though he suspected it was a ploy to distract him. "Luith," he answered, and could not keep the adoration from his voice, not the least abashed about it. The bond was so fresh, so strong, that E'sar did not think he ought to be embarrassed about it, anymore than he felt embarrased about how intent he was on that smallest glimpse of T'bell's collarbone. "Is it always... this strong?" he murmured, meeting T'bell's eyes with all of the fervent love for his dragon in his dark green regard.

He carefully ignored the mention of any Hold's ideas on greenriders, instead moving to the chores. "Yes, 'fun' means anything but." He smiled, "Late night watches, dawn watches, lugging firestone, cleaning, cleaning, more cleaning." He shook his head, remembering his weyrling days. "Expect to be dead tired. If you're not...someone will give you more chores."

He let his eyes meander about the crowd and switched his wine to the other hand as E'sar followed the line of conversation. "Luith? That's a pretty name." Light green eyes matched his gaze and his mouth quirked in a knowing smile. "To a degree. It seems so strong now because you've just Impressed. Soon you'll be more used to the force of it, then the actual bond will grow stronger with familiarity. You'll be hungry, tired, and...irritated, all at the same time." His eyes flicked away, "It can be annoying at times, but you'll never want to give it up."

Orana spoke to Janista in front of the food table with a smile until the brown interrupted her thoughts. Orana welcomed the interruption from the brown, it was re assuring to know he was still there but she always knew there was always that lingering presence within her mind.

Green Trith's rider comes He told her.

Remia, She thought with a smile, she had been wondering were her friend was. Orana then looked at the brown I thought you were supposed to be napping she teased the dragonet playfully scratching his eye ridge.

I am where ever you are mine, came his reply as he looked up at her with his large blue eyes.

Orana couldn't help but smile communing privately with her Ilorith her life mate. Orana looked around trying to spot Remia amongst the crowd of people and dragons. When she finally did spot Remia she was already walking toward the two “Remia is my friend.” Orana explained Janista then added “Rider of green Trith.”

“Remia,” Orana greeted her friend “Thank you.” She beamed with pride Then she smiled and gave a nod “I believe I understand that now” she replied then gaev the shorter girl a quick friendly hug before standing straight again.

(( sorry, I fell asleep as soon as I got home last night. ^_^; ))

Remia grinned cheerfully, and tilted her head. "And a wonderful feeling it is, too. Is this your brown? Hello, Ilorith. What a handsome fellow you are!" she said to the pair, directing her last comments down at the brown hatchling.

It's hard to believe you were once that small... she thought, and she felt the amused chuckle of the dragon drift through her mind.

I am as large as I need to be, Mine. When I was small, you could learn with me, and now I am large so we can fight thread, came the reply, and Remia smothered her own chuckle in her hand.

Looking around the group, Remia was about to open conversation with the rest of the new weyrlings, but someone off across the room caught her eye and made her eyes perk up.

She raised her arm in the air and waved, cupping the other around her mouth as she called, "Imrin! Over here! Hello!" She'd had a good time with him at the last gather, and hoped he would come and talk with them. She could feel Trith sigh in her mind. Not because she disapproved of him, but rather because he wasn't Datiath's rider. Trith enjoyed those conversations immensely.

A soft chirp wandered up from his flit, a warning before the little green suddenly took flight. OOoh dear, this couldn't be good. K'hin tilted his head up, spinning in a circle trying to keep the little monster-as he fondly called her durning these time- in sight. Why was she circling.

Sonia paused in in her hoovering before steadly making her way towards the left and he followed. Nothing more that he could do. He could not fly and yelling no bad girl sounded redundant and embarssing. The little green fluttered down lower circling a other flit. A bronze, Rikk?

Had to be. Rikk was the only flit she showned any affection for let alone reconginzed by name. Say the flit name and her little head would perk up and she glance around before snorting at him. Which met that was R'ael!

He walked closer and paused. R'ael and a other boy that looked vaguely familar. Ooh yes. He had impressed a bronze from the hatching but Kahlin had failed to catch his name. Soneth had caused him to forget everything for a few moments. She still made him want to jump up and down like a moron but that was undiginfied.

He paused before approaching closer. "Ah...R-R'ael?" he finally stuttered. He eyed the other boy before speaking again. "C-congrats on impressing a bronze. We'll be in classes together latter." He had been in a dream state though most of the impressing and the other probably felt the same way so might as well be polite and help the other place him.

"Oh! I...Thank you.." he turned a touch red across the cheeks...mared by a small scar across his nose. "Thank you...I...I wasn't expecting to impress at all..." He said with a sort of thin smile. He didn't look like the kind of person who wold normally be neverous. Quite the reverse...his face had serious lines that made the smile seem somehow suprising.
His dark hair only added a sort of brooding look to his features even with the smile, still, his dark eyes were friendly enough.
"Um... Jarest...er...maybe I should say J'est..." he said recalling again his persistant Dragon....even if he did find the shortening of his name a touch... ironic....

The hand he offers for shaking is stained dark from manual labor, calused and lined with small cracks in places... not yet softend by oils for dragon hides or calused the places a riders would be from how they held the reigns... but in time.

"What kind of Dragon..." he asked...and then stopped afraid it might be rude to ask.

A small creep of a smile started and he nodded. "I, wasn't expecting to either. Are you a friend of R'ael's or did he just bump into you?" He asked visably relaxing. Jarest...J'est seemed kind. Serious looking with those lines around his mouth but his eyes where..pleasant?

He paused before taking the other's hand to shake. His flesh was unstained but had calluses just begaining to soften showing work in repeative motions.

"She's a green. Has these adorable freckles across most of her muzzle," He said dreamly before a flush of red tingled. "Ooh um I'm Kalhin wait K'hin..shortening my name just seems so odd."

***POOR N'TREN! T.T Everyone just stepping on him***

N'tren merely sat and listened to introductions and dragon colors being giving out. If someone would just step back a little, he would have a chance to get up... Or...

"I hate to interupt but if one of you chaps (XD) could give me an arm or move back. I would rather not spend the rest of the Hatching celebration on my rear."

At least it wasn't muddy, just dusty. So his good leathers weren't too messed up. Just needed some brushing off.

Imirin caught the sound of is name and turned in a lazy circle to locate the source. Ah, that greenriding weaver girl. He affected a quick smile and began to slide throught he crowd in her direction.

It was only after retreat would have been very rude indeed that he noticed the other riders she was with. The sigh that escaped him was one of annoyed resignation, but it didn't show on his face as he approached. Pah, dragonriders. A glance around showed that Bait wasn't about to come down heavily (likely to try and take his head from his shoulders) and that for the moment, he was safe. Hopefully she didn't have the little blue beast present.

"Remia," He smiled and took her hand as his mismatched eyes wandered over her, "You've been makin' yourself scare since the last gather." He slid a glance over the gathered Orana and Janista. One of them must have Impressed, they were a happy bunch. "Your friends?"

"Hey no problem, it was my fault..." R'ael beamed to the younger man rocking slightly on his hears. "Besides, it's a day to celebrate, people are bound to run into e....Sonia!" He blinked as the green flit appeared, whirling around Rikk, who trilled brightly and flew an flashy display for her benefit. "Ka...er I mean K'hin!" His grin widened even more, as though even if the sky had been overcast he could have lightened it with his open smile. "And N'tren! Hey!" He beamed, reaching over to clap them both on the shoulders, clearly not minding the stumble that hand landed N'tren on the ground, as he shifts his pat to an offer to help the other rider up. "N'tren! Say congrats to my good freind K'hin! See? I told you you'd do great! You too J'est!" He reasured. "It does take a good bit to get used to the shortening, but you kinda forget how odd it seems when you're neck deep in chores."

"He contantly says he's a herd beast," K'hin chirped in becoming more at ease as he was greeted, beaming happily at R'ael. He laughed softly as he finally noticed N'tren. "Sorry..I've been a bit dazy with every thing. Are you alright? Or did we stamp you into leathers yet?" He was at ease, so odd for him.

Sonia trilled back, eyes whirling as she watched the flashy display. She landed on her owners shoulder cooing up at the bronze and preening trying to get Rikk to join her.
