Meladmiriel was born into what had seemed a normal enough drow family. Her mother had picked her father out, taken him, and eventually was pregnant by him. But at the age of about (In drow equivalent years) 3, her father decided he was tired of it. And so he waited til one night when Mel's mother was busy... And ran off with Mel. He managed to get out of the caves, and to the surface, where he found a village who followed the Goddess Elistraee.
He moved in, and became a follower, raising Mel to be one as well. Sadly, disaster struck when Mel was (IDEY) about 10... At noon, when most of the village was asleep, to avoid the sun's harsh rays on their eyes, a strange cult of humans came and attacked. The cult believed that the Drow were evil, all of them, and devils... And had to be killed to cleanse the earth. They slaughtered everyone. Well, everyone they could find. Mel survived, the only one, because she'd snuck out to play in the barn. She hid in the hay, terrified... and only came out the next night. When she found her father, and her friends, slaughtered, she was terrified.
She spent a month alone, only able to survive because the cult didn't take ANY of the possessions of the dead drow, believing them to be tainted. She tried her best to bury everyone, but in the end, had to put most of them in a house and light it on fire. She was, by the time the month ended, mildly insane. At the end of the month, however, her mother arrived. She had, apparently, been trying to track her down... to take her back, and kill her 'unworthy' father. Her mother took her 'home', and raised her, training her past her memories. However, when her mother had other daughters, she made it clear who was more important... As the other daughters were 'untainted'. Meladmiriel was tested, once, for magic powers... Then sent off to train as a warrior. Her sisters were tested more then once... and if not magical, were sent to be priestess and assassins, all more important to her mother then a mere warrior. Mel, upon attaining adulthood, left the moment she could.
When she arrived here, a humanoid seemed to 'claim' her, and tried to draw Mel into her home. Mel resisted this 'Aria', and, in the end, made an agreement. She found some caves, and Aria convinced one "Draco Malfoy" to customize it to Mel's needs with his magics. During this period, Mel met Shri'Ril, a male drow, who was, at first, scared of her. She showed him kindness, however, and in the end, the two fell in love. She also met Szordin, a little later, and... eventually coerced him to join her cause, for at this point, Mel had decided she was going to become a Matron, somehow.
