Divash There aren't kippot, but the Gambino Hat Rack and other places do have regular hats. I cover my hair in real life because it is reserved purely for my bashert. Sometimes I cover with a scarf; other times I use a snood, cap, hat, or hood. But I know a great many women who cover with a sheitel/wig/hairpiece. Since that's not their real hair, they're permitted to let it be seen. My avatar's hair, likewise, is not my real hair. It's not anyone's real hair. It's not even convincing as fake hair -- everyone can totally tell it's a cartoon. So there is absolutely no problem with letting it be seen, just like there's no problem with letting your avatar's arms, legs, or even stomach be seen. That and it takes a special person to be attracted to pixelated objects. xd

These avatars aren't even convincing as anatomical humans; they're obviously stylized after certain types of cartoon animation. The arms and legs aren't in correct proportion to the torso, neither is the head.. Never mind that they're lacking a number of details..
I actually do have a number of outfits for my avatar that resemble how I dress IRL, with and without a headscarf or hat, though. emo I have too much free time.

Well, if you dress modest in real life, then whats the problem with dressing your avi any way you want...I'd never wear a bra and underwear as an outfit, I just like my avitar that way... I've thought about making it modest, but I'm too lazy...

Well, I do have a few weapons and a sword, though I obviously don't go around wearing them. xd Heh; for some reason, I doubt that- I always picture you kind of wearing trendy things of some kind that look cool. ^^;;; But, imagine if the converse was true and people wore what their avatars did. blaugh

I'm a mix between scene and my own thing, or at least I try to be...but thanks! Now I know not everyone thinks of me as a dorky dresser. biggrin If people dressed like their avis dressed, some people on here would scare me! 3nodding

Heh, I look like a geek... Or like somebody pathetically trying to fill out an EMS uniform with no upper body muscle. lol I'm enjoying taking a Krav Maga class - it's the martial art taught to the IDF - and it heavily contrasts with the TKD I learned as a kid. For one thing it's not completely useless in a real fight. lol G-d forbid I ever get into another one of those, of course.
Unfortunately, skirts do not cooperate so well with my uniform. My handy uniform pants, if I choose to wear them, have cargo pockets for keeping gear (quick access bandages, gloves, and a pocket ventilation mask, plus trauma shears and a penlight if necessary), and I need a belt to hold the holsters for my Leatherman, Mini-Mag, phone/PDA and radio. x_X (I've found that skirts do not often have belt loops - or pockets. What is up with that?) Anybody know anyplace that sells "activewear" skirts that might fit the bill? Bonus points if they come in navy blue, but I can fudge the colors. lol
Plus - going up stairs in longer skirts - I trip on the hems a lot. xd Unless I take a hand and sweep it out of my way, of course, but going up 8 flights carrying an O2 tank and an AED makes that difficult. Non-floofy skirts present this problem less, but I enjoy floofy skirts. Obviously they are not suited for work. whee
You also can't just throw on bunker gear (like firefighters' pants and jackets) wearing a skirt. x_X When I had to drill into that stuff, I drew it up under my skirt, then stepped out of the skirt and threw it across the room into our closet. mad D (I wear leggings in the wintertime, so it was okay to do that. sweatdrop )
Wow, I rambled excessively here and it's only a little bit on topic o.o; *apology*

It's okay; you'll find everybody does that. A LOT. blaugh
Never tried that branch of martial arts; what sorts of things do you do? I'm in TKD, but we do a bunch of other more practical things, like Hapkido, weapons training, Kali, etc. That and a bit of Moy Thai stuff, which is cool but scary.
*shudders* I apologize if this offends anybody, but I cannot stand skirts; I can't move in them, and they ones they sell the most are waay too short for my liking. That, and I have something against lace.
If you don't mind me asking, why do you need all of that gear? It's cool, but are you in the military or something that you need bandages and such? sweatdrop

I think she's a medic. AED is what made me think that...
I have a skirt with belt loops, but I don' wear it anymore because it's too big. I don't know where, if there is any, specific stores with skirts like that. However, you might look at Penny's or something...

I'm in TKD, but we do a bunch of other more practical things, like Hapkido, weapons training, Kali, etc. That and a bit of Moy Thai stuff, which is cool but scary. Right now that's the only martial art I'm studying.. I'm doing a lot of research into other types, but haven't made any decisions yet, because while places to train are plentiful, good ones are a little harder to find. Quote: If you don't mind me asking, why do you need all of that gear? Civilian, volunteer, right now I work for my college's emergency medical squad and then a community response organization branch of Hatzolah, if anyone knows what that is. That, and I have something against lace. I had to get used to wearing them.. It took a while to get a collection of them that suited my tastes, too - long enough, loose enough, and not that fancy. But it's just that they're not that horribly practical for everything. x_X I've seen some kinds of waterproof, drawstring, activewear-type skirts online somewhere. I just can't recall where.. I have a few regular denim skirts that do have belt loops, but they're not very strong or practical. x_x

hey- im new
i do not currently cover, but i do observe shomer negiya- not sure the direct translation but it means you dont touch the other gender
i go to an orthadox high school (though i grew up conservative) where most of my female teacher do cover at least partially
i hae taken on a lot more halacha (laws) sience i started going to yeshiva high, and my mom (single parent) and grandparents dont really support the whole shomer negiya and shomer shabbes thing, so its hard to do at home, and i some social setting shomer negiya get thrown out the window because i dont even think of my friends in a way where it would be needed- so i dont touch most boys, but i still hug some of my good friends

Two different scarf tying guides: Scarves only: http://www.tznius.com/cgi-bin/tying.pl Scarves, snoods: http://modestworld.com/free.htmlMy favorite methods from the first link are the Crown, Dutch Crown, and Butterfly. I also like the Jerusalem Twist, except that I tie it with the ties crossed under the hanging scarf instead of over it, so that it simulates the look of long hair hanging down.
