I personally don't chew gum ever but our band director hates it when people chew gum in band class but its usually percussion but he doesn't care...NO GUM IN CLASS he says.

our director usually tells us to spit it out or swallow it or he just doesn't care. so we get it easy.

hn. i've never chewed gum in my high school class before.
[braces suck -w-;]
but in middle school i did it once or twice, and almost got written up for it.

but, whatever. i guess some band directors are just up-tight about it =(
about the push ups, ew.
i would hate to have to do that!
after doing ten, i'd probably like.. die.

Me, I don't chew gum, but if we get caught we have to wear it on our nose, and if you do it alot, you have to chew a peice of gum from a jar everyone spits their gum into before class. It hasn't been cleaned out for years! So yeah, no one chews gum durring class.

It hasn't been cleaned out for years! So yeah, no one chews gum durring class. EWWWWW!! There's an art teacher at our school who does that but she sells the jar on e-bay! In our band, one of our band teachers is a self-proclaimed gum nazi, so if she sees anyone with gum, it gets ugly!

we have to spit it out, and then the entire class gets the "i once had a student who was chewing gum, and didnt spit it out, then halfway through a song, she started to turn blue(she played the flute) bla bla bla. she was choking on the gum. its always the same story.

my band director gets pissed as hell if someone has gum. he even puts a garbage can in the entrance of the band hall and a sign that basically says if you have gum spit it out, you shouldnt have it in this room anyways.
regardless, some ppl still have it and play their instruments
....i dont know how you ppl do it. i cant play with gum in my mouth. i cant sing with gum in my mouth either.

It's push ups for us if we're caught. however, if he's in a really bad mood, we've got to scrape it off the chairs and the ground stressed lol. i never chew though, i wouldn't want gum in my t-bone anyway.

I don't chew gum at all in school unless a teacher says its ok, but I know several kids who get caught with gum all the time in band, and our BD really just embarasses them and makes them spit it out. Nothing too harsh. Although if you combine gum chewing with other bad behavior, you could easily get a detention.
