If they were to go to season 8 which the might.
if they got ride of someone as big as Kristen I think it would lose a lot of fans. And the series wouldnt be as good. IMO at least.
Also I havent heard anything about the actors complainning about their jobs. Actually, from the behind scenes and stuff i always see them smiling.
They have been through 6 years and more together doing the same thing.
I highly doubt anyone will want to leave.

Kreuk and Rosenbaum have both said they wouldn't renew their contracts once they've ended. They're both signed on for seven seasons, although Michael Rosenbaum has said that others are signed on for longer.
I don't think that losing the character of Lana would impact the show's ratings necessarily. Many Lana fans would probably still watch, just like many of us would continue to watch even if our favourite characters left; it might even boost the ratings because we all know that she's an unpopular character in some circles. On the other hand, losing Lex would be a problem.

Oh see i didnt know about their contracts being up.
Honestly I would still watch it but it would feel weird to me watching it.
Since I have watched it from the start seeing someone take the place of a charecter I watched through the whole series would be rather odd.

Im thinking they might do a spin off of smallville when it ends.

Well, common sense for Lex is, is that Clark is obviously a threat to the lexana situation, so the only way to keep lana away from Clark is to remind her how much Clark did lie to her, as well as every other person he might have come in contact with. Its like two lions battling it out over the same Lioness, only instead of physical fighting its psychological fighting, both guys are telling Lana to beware of th other one because they are both lying.
