I think up to Nimrod they were more punk than anything, but after that they seem to have fallen into the pop/emo catagory.

Niether were they around in the sixties/seventies for punk rock.

i dunno... i think they are pop/punk, but i am not really sure.... theyre not super punk, nor are they really alternative

btw, why is it that people think that just because of their new album, Green Day are emo? what's so emo about their new album?
i'd appreciate if those who think that it's emo explain to me and give me reasons. i'm just curious to know.

i'd appreciate if those who think that it's emo explain to me and give me reasons. i'm just curious to know. There new album is diffrent from their older ones but i don't really know what i'd call it!

I would NEVER say they were pop! they are far from it, pop in my opinion is some crappy girl band singing songs about how they met a guy and he broke her heart and she was in love but now she will get her revenge with her girlfriends and then get over cos shes so gorgous and knows it! Im sorry but they are not pop. I also wudnt say they were hardcore punk or emo or anything! They're a mixture or a genre of there Id like to call "music to love cos it feckin rocks" Id like to mention that jus because a band starts singing bout politics it sont mean that they've become pop! They might actually be doing it cos its something they feel strongly about!!!

It's very mixed, sometimes it's very rock, sometimes it's punk and then you have a Ballad, and that's the good thing about Green Day. They have any feeling, because, if you watch other bands. They don't have any feeling, they just scream some lyrics. But Green Day knows whats a good song like...
