There seemed to be mostly negative answers from the group, which Raven expected. After all, if they could already do magic, then she wouldn't have to teach them. It was also something of a relief to hear that none of them had been attempting spells on their own, where they might hurt themselves or other people.

Or none, save one. Zoning in on Ligeia, Raven frowned and folded her arms. "Really, Mister Solon? Please then, by all means, share your experiences with the class."

Her tone might have sounded sarcastic, and indeed she didn't approve of such behavior without hearing the circumstances. But part of her, a small part, was interested in what sort of progress he'd made. He had seemed like an intelligent student, and they always got the full force of her teaching- as well as her discipline.

Meanwhile, a few clattering noises could be heard from the back room, which Raven was obviously trying to ignore. Harder to ignore was an especially loud slamming sound, followed by a piercing "ouch!"

Ligeia for a moment wondered if maybe he shouldn't have spoken up as the teacher didn't seem... happy. He pushed to standing up though none the less. Share his experiances with the class he thought to himself then nodded, "Ahhh... well I have taken several classes in magic half of them with you and half of them with Mr. Barkhelm, hes the one that told me of soul's element and showed me how to called it up and manipulate it." He explained, looking down at his hands and cupped them together to called up a sphere of ice before he held it out in one hand for her inspection, "I can also make it into spines and shoot them." He added after a moment. His aim was improving though it had yet to be perfected.

He wasn't sure if he liked all of this attention on him both that of the teacher and of the students but... at the same time he had choosen the magic arts as the ones that he wanted to study, the ones that he wanted to put his whole self into. As nervous as the teachers attention on him made him he couldn't back down right? Had to show what he could do so that he could move forward.

While he thought this the majority of his mind was... waiting. To see what she thought, what she said and while he waited his wings fluttered and twitched behind him. The sounds from Anoki drew his attention for a moment though, the 'ow' concerning him a little. Was Anoki ok? Had he not been in class and a bit afraid of his teacher he would no doubt have gone to check on him.

Ala's attention fell upon the unfortunate member of their ranks who'd been chosen to speak before them all. In other words, she was watching the poor owl boy get volunteered to try magic in front of them all. But, the koala girl's attention was diverted by the loud noise and proclaimation from the back of the room. She tried not to turn and stare, feeling that Raven wouldn't like that as the teacher was obviously trying to ignore it. So Ala tried to keep her attention on the owl boy, though she glanced back occasionally to where Anoki had disappeared.

At the mention of the other magic teacher, Raven's mask of curiosity dropped suddenly, her face completely expressionless. She had known that there was another teacher, of course, but for him to be starting students on casting spells so soon, without any grounding work, was educationally unsound. And to have them work on something like attuned elements with such ease... Raven shook her head. Fortunately, this boy seemed to have natural magical talent, something she had suspected already. What else could explain his early ease with manipulating magic?

"I see," she finally said, voice even. "Has anyone else taken a class with this Professor Barkhelm?"

After the cry from the back room, there was a series of creaking noises, but other than that, the room seemed to have fallen silent. In any case, the crashing, thudding sounds had ceased, as had anything that sounded like it was alive.

Ala turned her attention from Legeia and Anoki (who'd fallen rather silent) to the teacher as she asked the class a question. The koala girl shook her head. No, she hadn't taken any classes with the other magic teacher. Though, he did sound much cooler than this one if he was letting her classmates try magic already.

Earako, throughout this exchange, had been more interested in the sounds Anoki was making, then what the teacher was saying. Any discussion of that other teacher she'd rather tune out as much as possible. Besides which, Anoki was his friend, and it sounded like he was having a difficult time back there. The batlings expression turned from nervous to concerned, and she gazed fixedly toward the back room.

Until Raven asked that question, stealing any chance that Earako might have otherwise have had to pretend she'd never had to be in his class. Her attention lept to the front of the room, and she visibly sunk in her seat, practiced posture forgotten now.

"Ma'am, I had Professor Barkhelm's class twice." In contrast to her early words, which had been meerly whispery, her voice now audibly shook. "I only go to your class, now."

Well, that was one less child for this new teacher to scar. But the bat, the child of that horrid man, had been in Professor Barkhelm's class. And from the sound of it, she didn't seem to have enjoyed her experience. Raven was not surprised. In fact, a small part of her was pleased, and a small grin flickered across her face, betraying her true emotions.

Still, any teacher who scared a child so badly as to frighten her away permanently clearly hadn't learned all of his own lessons. She would have to confront this Professor Barkhelm at some point, and find out exactly what he was thinking. After all, if he mistaught students, he would be making her job infinitely more difficulty.

"I see," she finally said. "Well. That is good to know, Miss... Earako." Darn those irresponsible parents and their lack of proper last names. "If that is all, then I suppose we will move on with our lessons. This is the first demonstration of practical magic utilizing tools that most of you will see, so pay close attention. Now."

Raven paused there, seeming to wait for something, but only silence filled in the void she left.

Ala blinked at Raven's pause. The koala girl glanced about the classroom. Was the teacher waiting for them to do something? Or was she waiting for that boy who'd disappeared in the back to come back with something? Ala wasn't exactly comfortable in the silence and began to fidget some.

Ligeia took his seat again letting the magic in his hand disapate and looked down at his notes, he wondered if he had gotten the other teacher in trouble by telling Raven what he had learned from him. He tapped a bit of frost that clung ot his hands off of his gloves before looking up at the teacher when she said that they needed to pay close attention. He would do just that, wanting to see what she was going to show them.

The reason he had gone to both teachers was to learn as much as he could through both of their methods of teaching. He'd gotten Mr Barkhelm's lessons, learned magic from him and now it seemed he would see some from Raven, thusly she had his fully and undivided attention.

Well, at least the Teacher didn't seem mad at her. That was a relief. Though Earako was more than willing to deal with mad as long as it wasn't the sort of mad that dug through your head, where all your secrets were supposed to be safe, or threw chairs under you and locked doors when you tried to get away. Raven's kind of mad, Earako was willing to accept.

She relaxed now that the discussion of that other teacher was over, and waited. She could only assume that Anoki had something to do with... well... whatever. The demonstration. Earako wasn't exactly sure what he'd be demonstarting. Magic, apparently.

Hopefully not of the mind invading variety. But Anoki wouldn't do that to her.

Tired of waiting, Raven had to do something. And that something, since it couldn't involve leaving the class unattended, was call. "Anoki Kenelm!"

Another pause. Then, a muted, barely audible voice- "I'm st-stuck."

That time Raven actually did hit her own head, lightly, with the heel of her hand. "Would somebody please assist Anoki Kenelm in the laboratory? And somebody else, please recall the three basics of magic, as best as you remember them."

This was her chance, wasn't it? She'd get to be the hero, and save Anoki. Of course, it wasn't like Anoki was facing certain death (hopefully), but at least she'd be helping a friend. Helping others was a trait common to both ladies and gentlemen and she wasn't about to pass up a chance to act according to type.

She stood gracefully, and looked up toward the teacher. "I'll help him, Ma'am." She offered, heading toward the laboratory before she gave the teacher a chance to respond. After all Raven might pick someone else if she waited to long.

"Anoki?" She called out in her gentle whisper, as she reached the door through which he had disappeared.

Indigo's silence throughout this was probably attributable to the fact her dragon was eating her pens.

Having decided she liked the taste of the highlighter, Citrine had feigned sleep for a few moments, then stuck her nose back up on the desk and snarfled down another of the velvet worm's collection. Rinse, repeat. And since Indigo couldn't precisely yell at her dragon in the midst of class, she'd been--in between paying as much attention as she could to Raven and taking notes--migrating her pens out of the reach of the hungry copper wyrmling.

So far, so good, until it came to a tug-of-war between the two over the last pen--something Indi let Citrine win with a visible wince as something slammed shut in the back room. "...hope 'Noki's not hurt," she whispered to her dragon, momentary irritation forgotten.

Then she sat back up, antennae bobbing. Earako was already off the mark to go and help Anoki out...so... "Will, uhm, imagination an' procedure?" the velvet worm chimed in, flipping quickly through her notebook and taking a surreptitious glance at one of the older pages. That...sounded about right. She hoped it was right.

The two things that Raven had requested be done had been taken and done by two of the other students so Ligeia instead waited to see what was next so that he could answer again. He didn't want to get to caught up in worry about Mr. Barkhelm who seemed like he could take care of himself and end up to quiet during class and missing needed information.

He eyes went to where Earako had gone to check on Anoki, wondering if he were alright but stayed in his seat. The teacher said only one could go and help him out after all.

Vorel lifted his head to reach over under the desk and started to butt his head against the bag there, inside he knew that there were treats and he wanted one, having grown a bit bored. This class was a lot of talking and the dragon's attention span was waning... The owl saw this and reached into his bag to get one of the frozen treats out of the plastic bag that held it. and handed it off, "Be good." He murmured, hoping the frozen meat would distract him for at least a little bit.

Ala had started to move to go help the boy, but the bat girl had moved faster, so Alaqua stared down at her notes. She really didn't want to answer the question, seeing as she couldn't remember the three right off the top of her head. But a lightbulb turned on as one of the quieter girls said them. That's right. Or so the koala girl thought.
