1st November 2004

Its odd to be home - married. I left merely engaged, with only thoughts of private time together in my head. Never did I dream that he would have that planned! Sati was expcetionally pleased to see us return. Apparently Silver did not give her much in the way of help with Rhiannon, which I was a little displeased about. Rhiannon had run Sati ragged, and the poor girl looked pale. We returned in time for them both to go to the Fa'e party, and as yet I havent had the time to tell Sati about David and me. I'm not real sure how she would take it.
Of course I did not forget my youngest during this holiday. We carved pumpkins together, took her trick or treating and I made her a costume for the afore-mentioned. She wanted to go as a wolf, unsurprisingly and as soon as I get my camera's film developed I can put a picture in the photo album of her in her costume! She looked very adorable, and got plenty of candy to rot her teeth with. Although I did not let her eat it all in one sitting - and luckily she had learned her lesson with the cookie incident and she saved some of the candy to eat another day.
Speaking of teeth when we returned home she proudly showed me that another of her baby ones was hanging by a thread. She thinks its fun to turn it right around. It makes me shudder when she does that though!
Her reading is going well, and her writing is showing progress. In the end I decided to home school her; and providing we visit the clinic often enough she shouldnt want for company of children her own age. I dont know what it was, but I couldnt bring myself to make her go to school. And I did miss her when we were away. And here she comes again, running in...wearing her costume again! Oh dear - maybe its time to tell her that Hallowe'en is one day only...

Rhiannon wandered up to the clinic, her hair in two bouncing pigtails. Her mum was just down the road, and because she had been very good she was allowed to walk down to the clinic on her own like a big girl. She paused, wondering what Cyrus was doing and she went over to him.
'Umm hi.' she said, waving.

Jiora
He frowned a bit, making a note to ask his momma about this photosynth-ee-sis thing later... "But if my momma is a plant, how come she eats people food too?" He eyed the pixie stix for a moment. "...how can the pixies even breathe in there anyway?" And they were all squished together... Pixies must be really strong to survive all that.

Cyrus glanced toward Rhiannon and waved a bit, his tail twitching warily. "Hiya, Rhi." He glanced around a moment, one ear pinning back slightly. "Where's your daddy?"

Sayuri_Nitta

'With my mum,' she said, twirling one of the pigtails in her hand.
'Why you want to know?' she said, wrinkling her nose at him.

Black Duvet
Angie paused in her assault of the tube to blink and turn to look at Cy. "I guess we're just special in that way, too. Ah--!" She turned back to her work as the pink sugar began to stream from a small hole in the tube, and she shook it, trying to get it all out.

She stared determedly at the pile of sugar, not noticing Rhiannon.. and just staring at it. "Go on. Fly away, little pixies."

A pause.

"..oh. my. god. I think you were right, Cy. They're not moving!"

Jiora
"Cuz it's not safe t'wander around alone and stuff," he said somberly, frowning down at the ground. "There's mean people."

He glanced back at Angie after a moment, leaning over with his hands on his knees to peer at the dust. "I dunno... I think Aunt Jacky was right when she said it was just sugar and flavor. Shouldn't pixies have wings anyway?" Then again, these could just be very, very small pixies...

Sayuri_Nitta
'They are only down the road,' she said with a little giggle. She knelt on the grass near to Cyrus, watching the strange lady.
'What are you doing?'

Sayuri walked past at that moment heading to the clinic. She shook her head at Rhiannon kneeling on the grass in her clean clothes but simply pursed her lips and entered the clinic.

Black Duvet
"I think people just mistake them for sugar 'cause they're such midgets..and maybe they can fly without wings," she murmured, wrinkling her nose at the inatimate pile.

"..aw, Cy..d'you think I killed them? Maybe I wasn't careful enough.."

edit: Angie blinked at Rhiannon, then poked the pile gently with her index finger. "See this? These're sugar fairies. People stuff them in tubes and sell them as pixie stix..I just found out recently, so I'm tryin' to free 'em.. but they don' look so good t'me.."

Jiora
He sighed at Rhiannon, his tail fluffing in agitation. "Maybe... But you should still be more careful. You don't wanna get caught by a mean person."

He glanced back towards the pixie dust, poking at it warily with one finger. "I don't think it was you... They probably couldn't breathe after they got put in the packet."

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon laughed.
'Those arent fairies.' she pulled at the grass, sprinkling it on her lap. The poked her tongue out at Cyrus.
'You sound like my mum.'

Black Duvet
"Those poor pixies," she said solemly, bowing her head. "Never had a chance.."

Slowly, she began to dig a hole in the ground, not seeming to mind the dirt collecting under her fingernails.

"How do you know they ain't pixies, though? For all we know, we all could have eaten enough pixies ta populate an entire world.. they still deserve a proper burial, though, even if they ain't pixies," she sighed, scooping the sugar into the hole and starting to cover it back up again.

She blinked at the rest of the pixie stix behind her, scratching her hair and so getting a bit of dirt in it. "Should we make graves for 'em too..?"

Jiora
His tail fluffed up more. He grumbled and sat down in the grass, pulling his tail closer and trying to smooth it out - stupid tail. "Well maybe your momma knows what she's talkin' about," he said quietly.

He glanced toward the rest of the pixie sticks and shrugged. "I dunno... I think puttin' 'em in the ground is stupid. I don't wanna be buried if I die."

Sayuri_Nitta
She poked her tongue out even more, while she tied grass-blades together to make a chain.
'Your tail is funny,' she said, looking back down at the growing grass chain.

Black Duvet
"Really?" Angie paused, nervously smoothing out the mound of dirt that announced the resting place of the coloured sugar. "..well..do you have anything in mind to do with it?"

She then noticed his tail and its puffiness. "How odd," she mumbled, tilting her head to the side slightly. "My cat's tail does that sometimes, but only when it's hunting or freaked out or something.."

And it clicks in her head.

"You feelin' okay, Cy?"

Jiora
He grumbled at Rhi again, pressing the fur down and hugging his tail closer again. "It is not funny. Your hair's funny with that weird gray stripe," he said, sticking out his tongue.

He shrugged at Angie's question. "My momma says sometimes they burn dead people...or bury 'em at sea, which really means they put 'em in the ocean. I think I'd wanna go in the ocean if I ever died." He paused a moment and blinked at her, one ear pinning back again. "I'm feeling fine."

Sayuri_Nitta
'No my hair is pre-ttee.' she chanted, in a sing-song way. She smiled sweetly.
'I like your tail really,' she said solemnly, holding out the grass-chain bracelet she had made.
'Its for you.'

Black Duvet
"Ocean?" Angie blinked, looking back at the clinic doors. "I dun think there's an ocean anywhere near here, but.. I bet there's at least a sink or a bathtub in there.."

She looked back at Cy, then at Rhi, then at the bracelet. And blinked again.

Slowly, she got up, clutching her stomach. "I'll..just leave you two lovebirds alone," she managed to say between snorts. She bit her tongue to try and surpress her laughter, and started to wander towards the clinic doors, but shortly collasped on the lawn in fits of laughter. "Cy's got a girlfriend!"

Jiora
Cyrus frowned sulkily at Rhiannon, only taking the grass bracelet after eyeing it dubiously for a moment. He didn't put it on though, simply frowning at it and trying to figure out why anyone would want a bracelet made of grass.

And then Angie mentioned lovebirds. And..and...girlfriends?!

gonk

He dropped the bracelet as though burned and practically leapt away from Rhiannon, already beginning to babble something about cooties and infection. "I do not Angie! That's gross!"

{{XD Says the boy with only girls for friends.}}

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon had no clue what the strange woman was going on about..lovebirds? Where were the birdies? She smiled when Cyrus took the bracelet, thinking that they might be friends, but her face fell when he threw it away. He thought she was gross? She felt her bottom lip tremble, and tears welled up. She stood, and shouted;
'I was only being nice!' and she ran into the clinic crying.

Black Duvet
Angie laughed even harder at Cy's reaction, curling up into a little ball and practically shaking with laughter. After a few moments, though, she peered out of her curl to where Rhiannon was..and wasn't now.

"I think you made her disappear," Angie blinked, sitting up and brushing the grass off her shirt. "Then again, it was partly my fault, too.. ah well. Should I try and invite her to the arcade? You can come too if you behave," she teased, wagging a finger. "I've still got those coins from last time, too.."

Jiora
Cyrus blinked after Rhiannon, not quite sure whether he should be relieved that she was gone or worried over her crying... Stupid girls. Bronwen would never do something weird like that, would she? Rhi should be more like Bronnie...except not a dragon. "Well I don't wanna be your boyfriend!" he shouted after her.

"No, she didn't disappear.. She ran off crying for some reason. I didn't even do anythin'!" Okay, so he dropped the bracelet, but only because it'd been covered in girl cooties! gonk

He perked at the mention of the arcade, glancing toward the clinic for a moment. "Yeah.. We should probably make sure she's okay too," he said, already glancing curiously into the clinic.

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon had run straight to her mother, clambering on her lap. Sayuri couldnt really work out what was wrong, but soothed her anyway, wiping her eyes, and stroking her hair. When Rhiannon had pretty much stopped crying, she gently asked what was wrong;
'Cyrus was mean to me,' Rhiannon said, wiping her nose with her hand. (( yeah i knew eww but she's a kid ><))
'I made him a grass wrist band and he threw it away.'
Sayuri just kissed the top of Rhiannons head.
'Well I'm sure he didnt be mean on purpose.' she said quietly.
'Yes he did,' came the petulant reply.

Black Duvet
"Too bad I didn't bring my anti-cooties blanket," she teased, running up to the clinic doors and pushing them open. Once inside, she looked around for Rhiannon, and spotted her on her mother's lap. She pondered for a moment, but wandered towards them anyway and paused in front of Sayuri, clasping her hands behind her back.

"I don't think I've introduced myself," she said softly, looking from Rhiannon to Sayuri. "My name's Angie." She bowed a little, then lifted her head to peer at the girl. "..ehhm..are you okay..?"

Jiora
He scowled sulkily and stepped fully into the clinic, pointing a rather accusing finger at Rhiannon. "Well you got it all covered in cooties!" He paused before continuing, crossing his arms over his chest in an attempt to look intimidating despite his tail fluffing up again. "Besides, I don't want a girlfriend."

Black Duvet
Angie blinked, excusing herself and then walked over to Cy. "We're supposed to be making nice, you goof," she hissed in his ear, nudging him in the ribs with her elbow. "Go say something nice to her. And make it sincere. Go!"

Sayuri_Nitta
Sayuri smiled a little, shifting on the seat as Rhiannon buried her tear-puffed face in her mother.
'Hi Angie. Rhiannon will be okay.' she chuckled.
'She's just a little too young to have worked boys out yet.'
Rhiannon turned around on Sayuri's lap when Cyrus came and started making a fuss. She screwed her face up and blew raspberrys at him.
'I dont even know what cooties are! I dont have them!'
Sayuri quieted Rhiannon down.
'Who has been filling your head with all this?' she asked, looking from Cyrus to Rhiannon and back again.
'You are both too young to worry about boyfriends or girlfriends.'

Jiora
Cyrus winced and pouted at Angie. Why was she taking Rhi's side? Rhi was the one trying to be all...girly. Ugh.

He gazed blandly at Rhiannon while she blew raspberries, ears pinning back in irritation. "Do so. My aunt Jacky said all girls got cooties. 'cept the really super cool ones like Bronnie. Cuz she's a dragon an' stuff." He glanced hesitantly toward Sayuri, shifting his weight from one foot to the other for a moment before pointing toward Angie. "Well...Rhi gave me a grass bracelet an' then she said it meant Rhi was my girlfriend." He paused and made a face, sticking his tongue out. "And girls have cooties so I said that was gross."

Jaclyn, who had followed Cy and Angie back into the clinic, settled herself into a chair in the corner and did her best to look innocent. She didn't have a thing to do with this. Nope. Not a thing. Really.

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon looked at Cyrus like he was a bug;
'Well maybe you should be Bronwen's boyfriend then!' she shouted, sliding off Sayuri's lap and pushing past him to run out of the clinic. Sayuri stood, sighing.
'I think she was just wanting to be your friend Cyrus - nothing more.' she gave the boy a small smile.
'And there isnt any such thing as cooties,' she said nodding.
'I best go - see where she ran too.' and she left.

Jiora
He recoiled visibly at the thought of being Bronnie's boyfriend. That was just... gonk She was his friend! You could be boyfriend with your friend, could you?! He frowned a bit when Sayuri said there were no cooties. "Maybe..." It would explain why he hadn't died from being infected by Rhiannon yet...

He glanced toward Angie and shook his head, wandering closer for a moment. "You're too cool to have cooties. And why are you gigglin' so much?

{{G'night Sayuri. :3

XD And sorry about Cy being so anti-girly. Hopefully he'll grow out of it soon.}}

Rhiannon hasn't wanted to go into the clinic very much lately. She doesnt want to go in case she sees Cyrus, who she says is a 'smelly head'. I wish I knew why people would put such nonsense into the minds of young children. I mean really, telling Cyrus that girls have cooties? I dont imagine it was Jiora who told him that however. I believe I heard Cyrus mentioning 'Jackie' told him - whoever that is.
Well anyway I'm hoping that Rhiannon can forget about this, and maybe they can be friends anyway. Right now its not going to happen. I explained that Cyrus didnt really mean anything, and probably didnt think he was being mean anyway. Not sure if she believed me.

Rhiannon swung her legs on the chair in the shoe shop, watching as her mother walked around, picking up different styles and turning them over, looking at prices and colours. She yawned, her mouth opening wide, and Sayuri tutted as she passed the chairs again.
'Hand over mouth when you do that, young lady.' Rhiannon poked her tongue out at her mother's retreating back. She was bored, bored, bored! of trailing round the centre, this shopping trip was becoming never ending and she longed to go home and play with Wolf and Pup. Maybe even climb a tree if she could get her mother to let her change out of this dress. She picked at the ribboning and pouted. Wonder what girly shoes her mother would pick out for her this time? Something with bows no doubt. She sat up as Sayuri returned, holding something behind her back. Rhiannon's eyes widened as she showed her what it was - trainers! She had wanted a pair for ages and ages and ages - was her mother just playing a trick on her?
'Try them on,' Sayuri urged. Rhiannon kicked off her patent leather shoes and grabbed the trainers. They were white with lilac stripings and joy! When she put her feet down lights in the heel flashed!
'I can have these?' she said, hopping around and watching the lights in the shop mirror. Sayuri chuckled, nodding.
'You sure can. A treat - but you have to do one thing.'
Rhiannon posed in front of the mirror. What? There was a catch. She made a face.
'Its nothing bad - you just have to try and be friends with Cyrus. And remember,' she said, bending down so that her face was level with Rhiannons. She looked into it at Rhiannon.
'Boys can be silly!' Rhiannon giggled, hugging her mother and skipping around the shop whilst her mother paid for the trainers. She wanted to wear them home, so her old shoes went into the trainer box. On their way home, they stopped in Sumra's Bakery, and Sayuri bought two chocolate muffins with sprinkles. She hoped that Cyrus would like them - and if Rhiannon gave them to him maybe the damage from their last meeting would be put right.

Sayuri walked in, Rhiannon dragging behind her, a small card box in her hands. She spied Cyrus, and hid behind her mother almost tripping up. Sayuri took a seat, smiling at Kaioto with her twins, and another woman who sat with her; the one that Cyrus was most often with here - for now she couldnt think of her name! Rhiannon clung to her mother, her lips pressed together and she looked solemn.

Jiora

She laughed softly, shaking her head in amusement. "I suppose it would. It'd probably be real irritating not beng able to sit ever." She snickered mischeviously. "I bet I could even take something over with that kinda power."

Cyrus glanced up when Rhiannon and Sayuri came in, pinning his ears back just a bit. He shook his head a bit and went back to what he'd been doing.

She glanced up at the mother and daughter who'd just entered, smiling politely. "Greetings, you two."

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon tugged on Sayuri's arm; she leant down and Rhiannon whispered something. Sayuri shook her head, and pushed her forwards towards Cyrus's direction. Rhiannon squeaked as she was pushed along, and she stood awkwardly clutching the box.

Jiora
Cyrus glanced up again when Sayuri pushed Rhi toward him, his tail twitching warily for a moment. He glanced from the girl to the box she held and back again, arching a brow the way he'd seen his mother do all those times. It always look very intimidating when she did it - maybe it'd work the same way for him?

"Hello, Rhiannon.." Another glance to the box. "..what's with the box?" he asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon twisted a foot, her shoe making a squeaking noise on the floor. She held out the box to him;
'Umm..' she said then spoke in a rush;
'TheseareforyoutheyareveryniceandIdidnttouchthemsotheydonthavecooties.'
She pushed the box at him. The box had 'Sumra's Bakery' on the lid and inside are;

Jaclyn tried to hide another laugh behind a hand and failed miserably. "Oh yes. Making people bounce would be much better than keeping them away from chairs." Another of her classic lazy grins. "And there's nothing wrong with aunt's spending time with their nephews."

He took the box from her - more to keep from getting it smushed against his shirt than for actual want of it. Still, he peeked inside curiously, ears twitching as he tried to figure out what Rhiannon had just babbled - why was she talking so fast?

Cyrus blinked at the cupcakes, glancing from them to Rhiannon for a moment. "Er..thanks," he managed. He tilted an ear toward her hesitantly - there were two..he couldn't just eat them both! It would be rude. "Um. You can have one if you want."

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon shook her head;
'No they are for you!' she squeaked again, her nerve breaking and she ran back to Sayuri. Sayuri laughed as she scrambled onto the chair beside her and hid under her coat.

Jiora
Cyrus blinked after her, tilting his ears forward in perplexion. What was her problem now? He hadn't even done anything this time! He glanced down at the box again and picked up one of the cupcakes to munch on - maybe it'd be a good idea to stop trying to figure girls out...

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon peeked under the coat; he was eating a cupcake! Maybe he didnt dislike her after all. Sayuri stretched in her seat, trying not to nod off.

Jiora

Jaclyn chuckled softly when Kaioto got flustered, shaking her head a bit. "Don't worry, ma'am. I was only teasin'. Though I don't get how anyone could really like talkin' to Ji." She glanced up toward the ceiling. "She's...snarky, or somethin'."

Cyrus scratched behind Shimrith's ears absently, glancing down at the remaining pastry. "It's a cupcake, and it's really good and sweet."

He glanced up at Seven and shrugged lazily. "You sound like my momma. She doesn't like when I get dirty either." He didn't seem to notice Rhiannon peeking at him.

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon pulled her box of dominoes from Sayuri's bag, sliding onto the floor and placing them down. She started making a circle first of all, her tongue poking out the side of her mouth as she concentrated on making them stand on end.

Jiora
Cyrus shrugged a bit and nodded, more to keep from being lectured further than anything. It wasn't that baths were bad. They had to do with water, and that automatically made them neat. He just didn't see the point of using them to get clean.

He glanced toward Rhiannon and tilted an ear toward her curiously, trying not to make it too obvious that he was watching. What was she doing with those..thingies...whatever they were?

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon had finally put enough up on end to make a little spiral. She twirled her hair around a finger thoughtfully, then pushed an end domino and giggled as they all fell down, clacking into each other one by one. She picked them up and started putting them on their ends again, making a bigger spiral this time.

Sayuri_Nitta

Sayuri leaned down, and quietly asked Rhiannon to pack up her dominos. She slid them back in their box, and Sayuri put them in her bag. Rhiannon stood and went over to Cyrus.
'I have to go now,' went her shoes.
'Cya soon!' and she ran off after Sayuri.

20th November 2004

Well the last time Rhiannon met Cyrus certainly went better. She was so funny about giving him the muffins that I am sure she would have thrown them at him and ran if I hadnt have warned her that doing that would only result in squished muffins. I'm not sure if her little gift helped at all - only time will tell. After all its not as if they can be forced to like each other!

I hope that Lenore, Eirnae and Damien are okay. I dont recall seeing them in the clinic for the longest of times. Maybe I should drop a note by or something...Sati may know how to deliver it - if think they live in a magically concealed house - or so Sati told me....hang on a second - Rhiannon has come to show me something.

Sayuri put down her pen and closed the journal, turning as Rhiannon came up to her smiling. She opened her hand and in it nestled another one of her milk teeth.
'Oh it finally fell out did it honey? Okay well put it under your pillow and the Tooth Fairy will be sure to take it whilst you are asleep.'
Rhiannon ran off yelling:
'Tooth for the Tooth Faaaaaaireeeee!'

Yup she did. Another of her teeth have fallen out. Its the second of her upper milk canines. Not sure whether to give her money or something else. I know she would like money - she has a little piggy-bank and she loves putting it in and hearing it clink against her other saved pennies.

24th November 2004

Sayuri sat up suddenly, and glanced at the neon numbers of the clock on the bedside table. 2:07am - so why had she awoken? She rubbed her sleepy eyes and looked at David's form. He was obviously fast asleep, and she looked at him fondly, before throwing the sheets off herself. Her mouth felt a little dry - maybe that had woken her up. Then she saw it, the bright moonlight filtering through the shades of the window. She peeked through two slats: the moon hung low, and glowed with a milky luminence. Maybe that had woken her up - but that hadnt happened since she was pregnant with Rhiannon. Maybe she would just go and check on her...she padded quietly towards her daughters room. Pushing the door open quietly she was startled to see Rhiannon seated on the window ledge, her hands pressed against the glass as she peered out and up at the celestial body.
'Rhiannon?' Sayuri called quietly, not wanting to frighten her. Rhiannon turned and Sayuri uttered a tiny gasp. Rhiannons eyes glowed a little; the way animals do in the dark Sayuri managed to realise. Then her daughter blinked and the reflective glow seemed to fade and Rhiannon yawned.
'Mummy?' she asked, sleepy all of a sudden.
'What are you doing in my room? Is it morning already?' Rhiannon crumpled as Sayuri took her in her arms, her lashes curling on her round cheeks as she slipped into slumber. Sayuri put her into bed, and then took a seat in Rhiannon's room. She would get no sleep tonight - her whirling thoughts wouldnt let her.

25th November 2004

Sayuri was still in the chair in Rhiannon's room, her head leaning over onto her shoulder as she slept. Her eyes fluttered as she slept. Rhiannon slunk out of bed - she wasnt sure why her mother had chosen to sleep in her room but she was hungry and so she pattered quietly into her parents room, clambering on the bed and bouncing on it.
'Daddy! Daddy! wakey wakey!' she called.

David Wolfenbrother
David slowly woke up, cracking one eye, smiling a little. "Hello there Rhiannon. Why you bounching on my bed this morning? And where's your mommy?" He sits up, shirtless as he usually slept, streaching a little.

Quote:
'Mummy sleeeeping in my room,' she said giggling.
'She all,' and she pretended to be asleep, tilting her head to the side and making snorey noises. Then she opened her eyes a bit to see if David was laughing.

David Wolfenbrother
David chuckled a little, and stood up, lifting Rhiannon, onto his shoulder "Lets let mommy sleep, kay? How about I cook us some dinner, huh?"

Quote:
'You mean brekkfist!' she giggled, plaiting the ends of David's hair.

David Wolfenbrother
David chuckles, heading down to the kitchen, setting Rhiannon on the counter top "How does bacon and eggs sound?"

Quote:
Rhiannon made a face;
'Yucky eggies,' she said, watching him with quick eyes.
'But I want bacon!' she coiled a strand of her hair around a finger, tugging on it a little.

David Wolfenbrother
David chuckles a little, and gets out a pan, starting to fry up some bacon, starting some toast in the toaster. "So how did you sleep last night? Getting near the full moon, isn't it?"

Quote:
'I dont know - is it?' she asked, the sounding very un-childlike for a moment; evasive really.
'I hear the moon singing.' she suddenly said, her eyes flashing.
'It calls my name. Does it call you, Daddy?'

David Wolfenbrother
David takes a sharp breath. "You say you hear it sing? You hear it call your name? How sweetie? What does it say?" He finishes up with the bacon, putting it on two plates, putting some toast on either plate, setting out some jam and butter. He sits down, looking a little serious.

Quote:
'I dont know.' came the answer. The scent of bacon was sending her nose atwitching.
'Its like,' she searched for the words with what knowledge she had at her age.
'Like a friend calling me. I want to be with it. And the sound it makes is like when Mummy sings to me. Like being at home.'

David Wolfenbrother
David nods a little, eating a piece of bacon, lost in thought. "As for your question, the moon does speak to me, sing to me. It has ever since I was a little older then you."

Quote:
Rhiannon ignored the toast and ate the bacon heartily. She licked her fingers, looking at him;
'Why does it sing to us? Does it sing for Mommy too?'

David Wolfenbrother
"It doesn't sing to mommy, and as for why it sings to us...." David stopped, thinking. He hadn't expected this moment to come so soon, and a thousand different answers ran through his head. Including all the warnings about the hunters, and those that woud fear her just for what se was.

Quote:
She looked up from where she had been making two toast slices attack each other - jam all over her fingers now.
'What Daddy? Why does the moon sing too you and, and me and not Mummy?'

David Wolfenbrother
David smiles a little. "Cause I, and you, share a special connection to the moon. We arn't exactly like other people. You know how daddy can look diffrent sometimes? Like a big wolfman?"

Quote:
Rhiannon nodded - that was cool! No one elses daddy could do that - well she didnt think so anyway.
'Yeah - you like a biiiig teddy bear,' she giggled.

David Wolfenbrother
Chuckling a little, David continues. "Well, normal people, humans, can't do that. I'm what's called a Werecreature. A werewolf to be exact. It means that I can change my shape between that of a human, a wolf, and somewhere inbetween. Werecreatures come in all types, like foxes, wolves, birds, cats. And all of them share a connection to the moon. We all react to the moon, especially when its full. It can make us act wierd. Since you are my daughter." He taps her on the nose. "That means that you are most likely a werewolf, or will be when you get older. Thats why the moon sings to you, and calls your name."

Quote:
'Oh,' she said, wrinkling her nose. That was alot of words! And she only got half of it.
'So - we are different?'

David Wolfenbrother
David nods a little. "I"ll explain it better when your older sweetie. For now, diffrent is close enough I guess." He smiles, clearing off the table, cleaning up."

Quote:
Rhiannon wrinkled her nose. What was so weird about being a werewolf:
'But arent werewolves really cool?'

David Wolfenbrother
David sighed a little. "Not everyone thinks so. Some people will be afraid of you, or not like you because you are a werewolf." He keeps quiet about the hunters. He didn't want to scare her. He would cover that someday when she was older. "So to anyone that you don't know really well, you don't let them know what you are."

'Oh..' she said, twirling her hair.
'I'll try and 'member Daddy.'

David Wolfenbrother
David smiles, kissing Rhiannon on top of her head. "Thats my girl. Now, how about I take you for a flight? Would you like that?"

Rhiannon hiccuped, nodding and smiling;
'Yes! Fly with the birdies!' she flapped her arms, giggling.

David Wolfenbrother
David chuckles, and gets Rhiannon into her jacket, stepping outside and shifting to his wereform, lifting her in his arms and taking off, flying over the forest, trying to put his worries out of his mind.

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon squealed as they took off, her hair whipping around her face and she leaned as far over David's arms as she could, watching the scenery flash by below.

Sayuri entered the kitchen just after they left, rubbing at her sore neck from sleeping in the chair. She walked around blearily, making herself a strong pot of coffee and cleaning up after her husband and daughter. Once the kitchen was cleaned up, it was onto the laundry, and as she worked she thought over Rhiannon's slow change. She was truly becoming at least partly a werewolf and she wondered what that would mean and what it would bring in the future.

12th December 2004

Sayuri moved around the house, walking back and forth from the boxes of decorations. Tinsel, garlands, wreaths were draped on wall and ceiling, over doorways and centrepieces were put on tables. She listened as she stopped, a wreath in her hands for the front door. She could hear Rhiannon laughing, and the wolves barking as they played out in the snow. Out to the front she went, with wreath, tag and hammer in hand. A few knocks into the wood, tack was in and the wreath was hung. She adjusted it, and then went back inside. Hurrying into the kitchen, she donned oven mitts, opening the door and pulling out the christmas cookies she was baking. They werent done yet, so the tray went back inside.
Taking off the oven mitts, Sayuri went back into the living room. She found the stocking that Kaioto had given Rhiannon, and tacked it above the fireplace to join the one that David and she had bought their little girl.
She then spent time putting up the Christmas tree. Twinkly lights went on first, then all the different decorations. Sayuri had asked if Rhiannon wanted to help, but that morning there had been a fresh fall of snow, and so she was tempted out by that, saying she wanted to build a snow wolf. Sayuri stood back a while later, admiring her work;

There was a clatter, and Sayuri turned to find Rhiannon running in, leaving damp snow patches where she walked. She ran up to the tree and oohed at it, peering underneath to see if there were any presents there yet.
'Nothing there yet sweetie,' Sayuri laughed, helping her out of her duck rubber boots and outside clothes.
'Go into the kitchen and work on your nativity set, and you can have a cookie when they are baked and iced.' Rhiannon ran happily off, Wolf and Pup at her heels, and Sayuri put her boots and clothes away.

Sayuri smiled as she took down the paperchain decorations that Rhiannon had helped make. It had been a lovely family Christmas once again, and their daughter had been pleased with all the gifts she had received; even some had come from other families that used the GMFC. There had been a secret Santa run, Sayuri had bought some soft toys for the family they had been assigned, and they had received an odd little nest from Nanook. She imagined that at some point a creature would emerge from it. Rhiannon had certainly enjoyed running downstairs and peeking into every morning to see if something was there yet. She carefully put away the Christmas decorations, placing them in boxes for storage until they were need again.
She listened, smiling at the shrieks coming from outside. The snow was still falling often, which Rhiannon loved. Except for the fact that it meant she couldnt use one of her Christmas presents properly. They had gotten her a bike, in red and silver shiny metal: Sayuri had known that a girly pink one would not go down well with the little girl. There had been other presents too, Yuumei had given Rhiannon a funny little dragon toy, and Kaioto's stocking had revealed a plush wolf which now sat on Rhiannon's bed with the other many soft toys.
And now the boxes had been put away. The house was once more back to normal, and as she started on dinner she hoped that she would hear from her other daughter soon. Sati had rang her on Christmas Day to apologise for not being able to attend Christmas dinner, she had said she was feeling unwell. That had been the last she had heard from her. She had not been able to contact Silver either. Wiping down a counter top in the kitchen, she heard the clatter of the door and then sounds of quick footsteps. Rhiannon came pounding in, her wellies leaving clumps of melting snow on the floor.
'Ack! On the paper!' Sayuri scolded, shooing her daughter onto some sheets of paper that had been put down just for snow covered boots to go on. As she helped Rhiannon out of her boots, Rhiannon chewed on a thumbnail, and then piped up;
'Mummy - where do babies come from?' she said, almost nonchalantly.
Sayuri blinked. Okay - so she was going to talk about some of that with Rhiannon anyways - but when she had prepared a speech, and some literature that Rhiannon would understand.
'Umm Mummy has to do dinner right now.' she said.
'You go play and I'll tell you later okay?'
Rhiannon skipped off, calling to Wolf and Pup, and she heard her playing in her room. Sayuri sat down at the kitchen table, pulled out a notebook and a pen and started making notes. If she had to go through this talk with her little girl, then she was going to darn well do it right!

14th January 2004

Sayuri had put it off as long as she possibly could, but matters werent helped by Ashianna's, (the Hogwarts student they had fostered, and who was living with them during the holidays) caustic remarks, and the fact that Rhiannon felt obligated to ask every day now where it was that babies came from. She had seemed to realise it was a subject her mother didnt want to readily bring up, and so asked at every opportune moment.
Sayuri wasnt sure what it was that was holding her back; she knew that as a responsible parent that this was something she would need to speak with her daughter about it; and again once she became older about sexual intercourse and safety. She guessed it was probably because the simple act of asking meant that Rhiannon wasnt her baby anymore, and would probably be her little girl for only a little more time. In short Rhiannon was growing up. She picked up the book she had bought - it was a book about the human body especially for children, and had a chapter on reproduction - with pictures. She called Rhiannon into the living room, and got her to sit down;
'What is it Mum?' she asked, fiddling with her hair. Sayuri realised it had gotten long of late and made a mental note to get it cut.
'Well - you asked me a question remember?'
Rhiannon nodded.
'Well, ' Sayuri said.
'Babies come from women - like Mummy. You were once inside me.'
Rhiannon's face wrinkled up.
'But I'm big! How did I fit?'
Sayuri chuckled despite herself;
'Well you were once very little - in fact you came from an egg.'
Rhiannon's scratched her head.
'Like a chicken?' she asked, sounding confused.
'Well kind of but human eggs are much smaller and they live inside Mummies all the time. They are in the fallopian tubes,' and she opened the book, and showed her the cross section diagram of a female reproductive system.
'This is inside you?' Rhiannon asked. Sayuri nodded.
'This bit here,' she pointed.
'Is called the womb - its a special safe place where a baby grows.' she was relieved to see that Rhiannon seemed to be understanding so far.
'But how does the baby get in there?' she asked.
'Does a doctor put it in there - do you have a zip on your tummy?'
Sayuri shook her head;
'Mummies have eggs - and Daddies have a special...seed that makes the egg turn into a baby. The Daddy puts the seed in the Mummy, and the egg grows in the womb.'
Rhiannon swung her legs on the chair, thinking things out.
'So Daddy put me in there.' she asked, pointing to Sayuri's stomach.
'Yes. Mummy and Daddy love each other very much - and when you are in love you can make babies.' Sayuri said. It was a simplistic way of explaining it all she thought, but Rhiannon was too young for 'mechanics'.
'Okay!' Rhiannon said, bouncing off the chair and running off to find her wolves. Sayuri wondered how much she had really taken in - but well she had told her, and that was another curiosity satisfied.

{{:3 Feel free to join, Sayuri.}}

Cyrus slouched in one of the clinic chairs, an anguish sprocket caught between his fingers. He frowned a bit at the little thing, tossing it back into the air and watching as it flitted away to join a few other sprockets hovering around the puzzles. Stupid over-dramatic thing. It already looked like the spiky sprocket was trying to convince the others that its life was among the worst there were.

He sighed and slouched a bit more, tugging absently at the hem of the sweatshirt his aunt had given him. Stupid thing - it was nothing like his old clothes. ..stupid getting older...

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon pattered in, dressed more normally in a t-shirt with a wolf picture on it and patched jeans. She was carrying her foam toy sword again and ran over to a chair and stabbed it. Then she stopped, stared at the older boy and ran back to Sayuri who had just seated herself.
'Mum! There is a strange boy here,' Sayuri looked;
'No sweetie, I think thats Cyrus,' and she waved to the teen.

Sundragyn
Bronwen bursts into the clinic, wings half-extended, and comes to an abrupt stop.

Is that Cyrus? It must Cyrus. He looks taller, though. After pausing to shed her coat and boots, she sneaks closer.

Sunny follows her daughter in at last, and without a word, flops down in the corner to catch up on her reading.

Jiora
He glanced over at Rhiannon and blinked slowly when she mentioned a 'strange boy', ears pinning back in a rather sulky look. Couldn't people even recognize him anymore? His mom had said he didn't look that different! "Of course I'm Cyrus," he muttered, still rather irritated with the current situation.

Had anyone else grown too? ...this was really going to suck if he were the only one who had.

He crossed his arms over his chest and glanced at Bronwen, frowning hesitantly at her and waiting for some sort of reaction. She at least had to know who he was, right? "Hi, Bronnie."

Sayuri_Nitta
'You look biiig!' Rhiannon exclaimed, going right over to him and peering up.
'Whats it like being growed up?'
'Grown up,' Sayuri corrected.
'Yeah that,' Rhiannon said, rolling her eyes.

Sundragyn
"You're tall!" Bronnie laughed, and skittered closer. "I thought it was you, but you're tall. How'd you get tall?" She pointed at the sprocket. "I got some of those, now, too. But mum wouldn't let me bring them."

Jiora
He glanced between the girls, one ear slowly tilting forward a bit. "What's it like?" he echoed, flicking his tail in agitation. "It's not really that great.. None of your old clothes fit anymore. My mom's taking me out to get new ones later."

His ear swiveled towards Bronwen, his gaze following shortly after. "I dunno how I got tall. I just...was tall all of a sudden." He glanced toward the sprockets when she pointed them out, grinning a bit lopsidedly. "Which ones did you get?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon scowled at Bronwen, poking her tongue out at her back.
'But, but it means you not a kid anymore,' Rhiannon piped up.
'You can do what grown-ups do'

Sundragyn
"I got a shadow one and and a fire one. I named them Spook and Spark." Bronnie rocked on her heels, looking slightly askance at Rhiannon.

"When I was littler, and I figured out how to look like this, I had no clothes at ALL. So I had to go around wearing Uncle Ray's old shirt until Mum took me shopping." She giggled.

Jiora
He sighed a bit at Rhiannon, deciding that maybe it would be better not to snap at her at the moment - though he did wish she wouldn't be so rude to Bronnie. Was he doing something wrong again..? It was so hard to tell with girls... "I'd rather just do kid stuff some more though."

He glanced at Bronnie again, both ears pricked forward now. "I don't think I have any fire or shadow ones... I got a whole bunch of other ones though. I even got a cog. They're kinda like the sprockets, only they can talk all the time and they're smarter."

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon fidgeted, swishing her sword around again;
'Does that mean you cant play with toys anymore?'
That didnt sound too great.

Sundragyn
"Cool! I want a cog." Bronnie giggled. "Mum and Glee got some too. They're... uh... ee-motion, and music, and plants, and life. They're nice too, but I like mine."

She made a face at Rhiannon. "You should be nicer to me, cause I could make you light on fire if I wanted."

"BRONWEN," Sunny snapped. "We don't say things like that. You apologise right now."

"Sorry, Rhiannon," Bronnie muttered.

Sunny narrowed her eyes and peered over her dog-eared copy of I, Robot.

Jiora
He frowned a bit, eyeing the floor as though it were the most interesting in the room all of a sudden. "I dunno.. I hope I can still play with toys. It'd be really lame if I couldn't..." He sighed and slouched lower still in his chair - it was a wonder he hadn't fallen out yet.

Again his attention turned to Bronnie. He was about to speak when she spoke up about lighting people on fire, eyes widening just a bit. "Uh...Bronnie... I don't think that'd be a good idea anyway..."

Sundragyn

Bronnie folded her arms and looked cross. "Fine. I won't light anyone on fire. Okay?"

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon poked her tongue out again so that Bronwen could see.
'Yeah well I could bite you if I wanted,' she retorted, showing off her sharp little teeth. Sayuri looked over;
'Rhiannon...behave or we will go home right this second! Be nice.'

Jiora
Cyrus nodded a bit, still looking rather concerned over the idea of Bronwen of all people actually considering lighting someone on fire. "Good..." he mumbled. "You could really hurt someone if you did."

Urgh! And now Rhiannon was starting too! If it had been at all possible to do with slipping onto the floor, he'd have sunk even lower in his chair. Instead, he threw a frown in Rhi's direction as well. "No biting people either. That'd hurt too."

Sundragyn

"Fine," Bronnie said. "I won't. I promise." She flexed her wings idly in a sort of shrugging motion, and looked at Rhiannon out of the corner of her eye.

Jiora
{{XD Anytime is good, BD. heart }}

He managed a smile then, relieved at the lack of argument from Bronnie. "Good." He glanced between the girls again, sliding a hand through his hair and tugging nervously at his ears. It'd be so much easier to think of something to say if they weren't at eachother's throats...

Sayuri_Nitta

'Toys are good!' she said, waving her sword around again.
'But maybe you arent allowed to play with them. Mum doesnt play with toys anymore. She just cooks, and cleans.' she wrinkled her nose.

Sundragyn

"I... guess I don't really want to light anyone on fire, anyway," Bronnie admitted.

Sayuri_Nitta

'Well maybe I shouldnt bite Bronwen,' she said. Cyrus seemed to like it when they werent fighting - so she wouldnt be nasty. Well not when he was around anyways.

Jiora
"I'm not a very good cook though..." He frowned again. Spaghetti-o's and a few other canned foods were easy enough...but there was no way he'd ever be able to make the fancy stuff his mom made all the time. His ears perked again as Angie stepped in, and he sat up a bit straighter to wave at her. At least she wouldn't try to start fights with anyone. ...he thought.

He looked rather relieved when Rhi and Bronnie seemed to stop fighting, relaxing considerably and managing an only slightly nervous smile. "That's good... You two should try to get along more." Or at least not go at eachother like that when he was around.

Sundragyn
Bronwen looked reluctantly at Rhiannon. "I guess we could be friends. But you can't say anything mean to me anymore," she muttered.

Sayuri_Nitta
Rhiannon thought quickly - and came up with something devious for her age. If she was friends with Bronwen then she would be able to hang around with Cyrus - as she knew Cyrus liked Bronwen.
'I promise not to,' she said, smiling sweetly.

Sundragyn

Bronwen grinned broadly, and quite openly. "Okay! That's good." This was great! She'd much rather be friends with people than light them on fire.

Jiora
He sighed a bit at Bronnie and Rhiannon, managing another of those only slightly nervous smiles, though the nervousness faded rather quickly with Bronnie's next comment. "Yeah. Being friends is better than fighting with eachother all the time."

If Gaia had been anything like an anime, there would have most definitely been a rather large sweatdrop on the back of Cy's head when Angie noticed him. He grinned lopsidedly again, not looking at all relaxed anymore - did she have to point it out so loudly? - and nodded. "Uh..yeah.."

Sayuri_Nitta

She smiled sweetly again, and Sayuri watched quietly;
'Its time to go Rhiannon,' she said, standing. Rhiannon frowned.
'But Muuuuum,' she started.
'No buts, its dinner time.' Sayuri held a hand out and Rhiannon sighed.
'I gots to go,' she said;
'Bye bye,' and she waved at Cyrus, gave Bronwen a smile and ran off after Sayuri's retreating back.

Diary Entry

The last time we visited the clinic was an interesting one; Cyrus had grown into a teen, and looked very much the young man. Rhiannon didnt quite recognise him when she first saw him, but she soon went over once she realised who it was. Bronwen also turned up which led to some awkward moments: Rhiannon had started to dislike Bronwen after the whole 'cooties' incident. Apparently Cyrus seemed to think Bronwen was 'cooler' then Rhiannon which did not go down well with her at all! Of course Rhi being the contrary little thing that she is decided to take this out on Bronwen. There were words, and I thought I might have to take Rhiannon home but the mood suddenly changed and Rhiannon was being all friendly again. The cynical part of me thinks this has more to do with Cyrus then anything I said.
Anyway we continue much as ever; still waiting to hear from Sati - she hasnt been back home recently - I went around there and found that the post hadnt been taken in for days. I do hope she is okay wherever she is.
Rhiannon is developing well - growing and getting stronger each day. She is bright little thing, if not sometimes a little crafty.
