"Er..." Brice said, scratching the back of his head, trying hard not to laugh at Sabel. "Right, so do you know what we can eat, without giant... whatsits scaring my friend?" Brice asked pointing at Shelob " And it would be lots better if you put up signs before hand." Brice pauses, tilting his head to one side before asking, " Whats a tangerine or a blackberry?... and who are you?"

Aion had not yet caught sight of the black widow when Sabel came barreling into him, "What the..." He instictively wrapped his arms around the quivering figure, wincing at her death-like grip. "Whoa, calm down, it's okay no one will hurt you while I'm here!" He murmered soothingly, while glancing around nervously in an attempt to locate what had frightened her so. His eyes widened when he spotted 'Shelob', however he forced himself to remain calm, though it took all his will power not to collapse in a quivering heap. He didn't trust his own voice so he simply stroked her hair continuing to murmer comforting nothings to the terrified Hyenid.

OOC: Elladan, i regret to inform you...your bio did not come through, please send it to me again, click the little speech bubble-shaped icon above my post to send me a pm (personal message). The rest of you go easy on the Newbie. And you got to admit that's a pretty good 'first post ever' for someone who had never even heard of Role Playing.

Still whimpering and incoherent, Sabel lessens her grip only slightly. Clearly she has not progressed very far from the 'mindless with terror' stage just yet. "It's gonna EAT meeeeee.... gonk " She moans.

Ignoring the giant spider and everyone else's reaction to her appearance, and the sudden realization that he couldn't rememebr the last time he'd eaten, Owen's first and most immediate instinct was to find the nearest source of water. Spying a nearby stream, he immediately raced to its source to find a small but deep artificial pool at the base of a waterfall cascading down a rock built into the wall. With a joyous cry he leapt in, slipping easily beneath the surface. It was the most rapturous sensation he had ever experienced as far as he knew - the feel of the cool liquid sliding across the membranes along his neck that filtered oxygen from the water, his skin revitalized by the moisture as if every pore on his body was newly awakened... for that short moment it was easy to forget his current situation.

The corpse in the hall barely affected Lune at all. He had no interest in the corpse whatsoever and remained deep within his thoughts as he adjusted his gait in order to avoid stepping on, or into, it. The scent of cleaner air did bring some of his attention back to the outside world but he was still quite occupied with his depressing musings.

Lune was ripped from his reverie by the sudden scream that erupted from Sable's mouth. Shelob? Vague images of a large spider flickered through his mind as this name registered in his consciousness. He recognized the need for immediate action and moved with surprising speed, getting around the others and putting his own body between the unarmored members of the group and the direction from which Sable had come.

Lune's eyes swept the area, and fastened onto the form of a large carapaced creature with eight legs and rather distinctive markings. A... black widow... I think. Strange... He would have frowned had his facial structure permitted it. His black carapace reflected the somewhat clearer light in this place and he enjoyed the feel of the cleaner air but he kept his eyes fastened on the strangely feminine spider. His visual assessment of her ended fairly quickly, considering the amount of fuss that the arachniphobic hyena was making. She is one of us... isn't she.

"My name iss Lune. The hyena iss arachniphobic, pardon her dissplay. May I assk your name?" Lune's command of his speach had improved rapidly with concentration and he kept his tone of voice quite moderate in his polite address. His tail remained in its customary position of readiness though and he maintained his position between the spider and his furry, and slimy, companions.

The black widow snickers. "Oh that's rather mild compared to some of the reactions I've seen. One unfortunate young woman became a mouse, and was terrified of herself running in circles screaming until she ran into a snake-guy and promptly fainted in terror. My name is Shalobina, but everyone just calls me Shelob...for some reason though I'm not sure that name is exactly a good thing..." She shrugs. "So, pretty good to see another arachnid around, there aren't too many of us that are insectoids. Mostly mammals, a handful of reptiles and a few arthropods. There was a squid, but he ran afould of some trouble...hmmm, actually, this isn't my place to explain...you'd better go see the council, they're out scouting the ship right now, but they should be back sometime soon. Until then, look around and make yourselves comfortable here in the dome. We call this place Sanctuary." Suddenly she reaches up into the tree and produces a fragrently ripe nectarine. "Here, give this to the girl, maybe it'll calm her down. Fruit is about all we have to eat here though, so things are a bit edgy amongst the carnivores."

Ic:"Well it is a little bit hard to put up signs when there is no one to read them. You are they only travelers in quite the while. Plus the spider wil not hurt you." She adds looking at the panicked Hyena. "And the answer to another quistion is my name is Humamor. The blackberries are not actually blackberries. I am not sure what they are?"

Smiling somewhat hesitantly at the spider-lady, Aion gingerly accepts her offering, then coaxes the quivering Sabel to follow him further into the sanctuary, away from the aracnid. Once he believes a decent distance has been reached he settles down beneath a tree still comforting and stroking the hyenid, and offers her the fruit, which strangely does not seem particularly appetizing to the wolf. "Here Sabel, the spider isn't going to harm you, I've got you, and here's something you can eat I think. It's okay, calm down." He continues in that low monotonous murmer one uses for frightened children and animals.

Lune blinked once during Shalobina's reply and then nodded when she was finished. He relaxed his tail and moved slightly closer to her in order to make conversation more pleasant, remaining at a polite distance of a meter or so.

"It iss a pleassure to meet you Sshalobina. I am ssurprissed that there are sso few but... there are many thingss that have ssurprissed me in thesse passt hourss." He blinked in the equivelant of a shrug. "I vaguely remember a ssensse of danger assssossiated with 'Sshelob'... I cannot recall from where though." His eyes narrowed slightly in extremely mild annoyance. Lune shook his head suddenly and returned the focus of his attention to Shalobina. "How do we inssectivorss get by here? I doubt that fruit will ssuffisse for long. I am not hungry yet but... Or... perhapss that iss a quesstion for thiss counssil."

Lune watched the behavior of Aion and Sabel out of the corner of his eyes. She seems very distressed. Perhaps it is good that there are few arachnids in this place. Here, I have found one with whom I can talk at least. His expression did not shift, since it couldn't, but his body lowered slightly toward the ground.

OOC: I'll be taking over Shelob's character as Furry-chan is going to be busy for some time.

Shelob looks as uncomfortable as a chiton covered arachnid can. "To e honest...that is something of a problem we're aving. So far the predators have managed to control themselves, but there is talk of..." The black widow glances around to ascertain exactly who is present then leans forward and whispers to the scorpion, though it would appear as if she had just leaned forward to give him a soft kiss on the cheek. "There has been talk that the predators will begin taking the prey creatures as victims. That's why I have a web around my territory, just in case someone happens to be an insectivore." The spider leans back with a grinning expression but the look in her eyes assures she is anything but relaxed.

A strange torpedo shape rose swiftly from the bottom, the aerodynamic mantle and huge eyes unmistakeable. with fully ten arms, two of which were longer than the rest of the body ending in spade shaped 'palms', allof which lined with two rows of clawed suckers. At the base of the two longest tentacles was a vaugely human shaped torso, yet that was all that appeared human of the creature. It broke the surface and then expelled a large volume of water then inflated with air.

"Hiya! I'm Krakky, 'cause I'm a kraken get it?" The voice was that of a young girl and the chilish giggles which followed her speech were equally indicative of one who was not yet an adult, nor even an adolescent. "So, who're you?" Krakky asks extending one of her tentacles like a hand.

IC:"You can eat the moths there a little bit cruchy on the outside but juicy on the inside!"she said while nipping a moth out of the air giving it to the scorpian than grabbing one herself.

Brice made a face at what Humamor said and looked around for something that looked good to eat. His mind instantly focused on some whitish, thin looking kind of vines *not worms because that would just be silly*, that were steaming in a, what was it... bowl? Then he remembered a little stand with a man who made that stuff called ramen. At this point he was actually drooling at the thought of all this ramen.
