Correct. (There's a question above. ^^^)

Well, I take art and choir, which even if they had exams, they'd be super easy. We took a test last year as freshman to see how we stand up against the nation's freshman, and if we got above average on three of the four sections you can exempt one test. If you're above on all four, you got two.

Since I got above, I only took two exams. whee English exam he gave you every answer the Friday before the test, and I strangley understand math, but I still got plenty wrong. rolleyes CHEMISTRY IS EVIL!

QUESTION TIME!
What in Harry's world takes on the scientific term 'architeuthis' in the muggle world?

Do you mean wotcher? I mean Tonks says a lot of things...can you maybe make the question more specific?

and to answer the other one,

What in Harry's world takes on the scientific term 'architeuthis' in the muggle world?

That's the giant squid. Why is it in Pirates of the Carabbean they also have a giant squid but call it...kraken is it? or was it a giant octupus?

Oh I take art too! Basically that's the only subject I am getting an A in...
PostPosted: Wed Jan 10, 2007 1:35 pm

Yeah, you were right. And I do supose I should have been more specific. But she says it consistantly. Sorry.
'Nother question. What does the company that Vernon Dursley focus on selling?

Prefect-Sallie

That's the giant squid. Why is it in Pirates of the Carabbean they also have a giant squid but call it...kraken is it? or was it a giant octupus?

It was a variation of the Giant Squid. Called a Krakken because a true giant squid was called a Krakken in Medieval Ages by some sailors. It also had various other names xp . Also, there is a version of a giant sea monster in the majority of classical mythological stories.

Greece had the Hydra, a three-headed sea serpent which was Posiden's pet and the creature that he sent out to do his dirty work (notice a simliarity there?). Rome had the hydra under a different name.

Pirate lore called it a Krakken and it was said to be able to devour an entire ship if it wished to do so.

In DnD (one of my areas of knowledge....Gawd, I'm sucha nerd. wink ), the Krakken was said to be a sea monster in the shape of a giant squid, except the actual Krakken was monstrous. The Krakken was extremely intelligent and in some cases, Telepathic to it's master. Of course, this lore was based from a bit of every day life. So it may have come adapted from the Posiden myth. In which case, if Pirates also borrowed from the Posiden myth, that could explain how the Krakken knew Jones' wishes. Also, it was technically a pet of Jones'. So...who knows? That's my two bits.

Obviously you're right about the sqiud. The kraken was also in greek myths.

Who is Lasuris Bonao?

Another question. This one's easy.

What's Grubbly-Plank's first name?
PostPosted: Sun Jan 14, 2007 5:36 am

Just goes to show that I need to research more on my mythical beast and such...

the answer to the first one...actually I don't know... cry was he even in the books? I suppose that he was a famous witch or wizard...or a dark wizard... or the author of a book...or some one's pet?

and the second one is Wilhemina...
