Chylde_Orchid ~Leadstorm continued running, looking for a bike to 'borrow' or a place to hide. he glanced over his corner and saw the glint of the overchromed bikes, cars, and helmets gaining on him. "s**t, s**t s**t}" he muttered to himself, then he spotted an onramp to the freeway that was closed off for construction. "Maybe there's a skidster or something with the keys left in it" he thought to himself, then Sprinted across the busy street to have a closer look~ ~Leadstorm Dove the last 30 feet to the site, rolling as he hit the ground and making a bee line for the first thing with wheels he saw. No keys. "s**t" he said to himeslf as he ran to the next vehicle. "with my luck, the only thing I'll be able to hijack will be the paver..." at that his ears picked up the distinct sound of wheels peeling out on gravel... he had time for one last thought before they'd be on them. "s**t" he thought.~

Trau worked at the gears, trying to pull every ounce of force out of the engine, but it just wasn't enough; the bikes were going too fast for his Frankenstein bike. "Something else," mumbled Trau. He held on for a second longer, and then noticed, "They're going towards the overpass." He glanced to his right. "Tummault Street...I used to live off of Tummault Street..."
"s**t...I hope they didn't change this city too much. The last thing I want to do is slam myself right into the side of a building that wasn't there 18 years ago. Deceleration trauma is so not the way to go."
Trau peeled to the right on the next street, jumped a low-lying barricade, and took the bike into what amounted to an alley. He pulled on the handlebars like a pinball machine- tapping left, tapping right, tapping left, tapping right- dodging garbage cans and dumpsters the whole way through. Ahead of him, about 20 yards down the alley, was a wide-open space; the construction site of the off-ramp and another low barricade.

Aleister smirked and gave Threl an appraising look. He spoke in a low voice, "Look chummer, King Chrome's dead, had a nasty accident, thats all we got time for right now, and we sure ain't got time for pills neither. I dunno if you're just playin it real cool, but I think we gotta at least consider the facts for a moment. Who the hell was that back at the club? And why was that fat gonk recording our conversation? And why 'd we get outta there so easy?" He stopped momant to consider what he'd just said and noticed that the place was a little less crowded since they'd come in, looking to the bar he noticed Lanx making an obvious attempt not to make eye contact. The hell was his problem? He looked to the door again, another one walking out? s**t, was he starting to lose it? How many times had the two of them cleared out dives like this, matching chrome and guts against other street toughs, seeing who'd be king of the sprawl til the next big rumble... fightin' to be at the top of the scrap heap. These days were a little different, they had "objectives" now, and someone to answer to. They had to keep low profiles, taking care of business without drawing too much attention. Threl and Aleister were sent to this city to sow the seeds of something much heavier than any barroom brawl or street rumble. Aleister had worried that someone with some real clout might take an interest in their business before they'd had time to finish up, and it looked like he might have been right.

He hit the low barricade and pulled up on the bike, easily launching himself across the street. At just about the same moment his bike hit pavement, something was rattling with the sound of about two hundred old shake-n-spray paint cans being prepped to go at the same time. Trau checked his bike and held on hard. No, it wasn't his bike making the sound. Then he noticed the man clutching a shotgun and diving behind a backhoe when the two street bikes landed. "Interesting. Looks like I'm not the only one being a little on the defiant side tonight."
Trau watched for a second as the two Chromers signaled to each other over the roar of the bikes and the muted sighs of the city. When they pulled the autopistols, Trau cranked his throttle, jumped another barricade into the construction site, charged the closest man like he was jousting, and, in one motion, drew, swung, and sheathed his katana.
Trau felt the sword bite deep into the man's upper arm; flesh, sinew, something harder than bone. He might have cut if off, he may not have. What was for certain, however, was the fact that this man wasn't going to be holding his autopistol much longer.
Trau pulled around the construction site, using dirtpiles and heavy construction gear like an old-fashioned dirtbike track. He looked up to see another car pull into the construction site entrance. "Uh-oh."

Threl really hadn't given this much thought but then again those are the details he really didn't care about. All Threl was worrying about was getting the old group back together if that was even going to happen any more... "Well all I know Chummer is that if someone is following us theres not much I know about losing a tail and I'd rather just square off with em. Another thing is these are damn good pills and if you don't want em I'll sure as hell take em." He reached forward and in one motion grabbed them and tossed them into his mouth, which was followed by a loud gulp. "But the thing I find most annoying is the fact that you keep looking over at Lanx. You don't think he set us up did ya? Because I know as well as you do that he doesn't have the balls too stand up to us let alone make us the enemy."

'These morons think they can take me when they can't even stay on their bikes' hethought to himself. 'this isn't even worth the ammunition.' he let the shotgun fall to his side and clenched his left hand into a fist as the wolvers extended 'Five minutes' he told himself. 'any longer and your heart'll explode, that's what the Doc said.' He felt his adrenal levels raise and his pulse jump to 400 as He switched on the experimental overdrive function of his adrenal implant. Everything slowed down through his eyes. He leapt at the chromer still on his bike, taking a step on the top of the engine to boost the foreward thrust and throw him into a roll. the chromer's autopistol leveled at him, but just before he could pull the trigger, leadstorm connected, shoving the wolvers through his forearm and pushing the barrel away. Before the poor b*****d had time to scream Leadstorm brought his knee up to the chromer's throat. They both fell backwards as the bike swerved out of control into the backhoe behind them. Leadstorm fell onto the chromer, using his body to cushion the contact with the ground. Only then did he notice that there was someone else here, someone whose body didn't glint in the setting sun.~

"This chombatta looks like something out of a comic book."The slamming of car doors caught Trau's attention; more steely-looking characters none too happy about the current situation. He zipped over to the downed Chromers and the clawed figure, drew his sword, and held it steady to the throat of the Chromer his katana bit into only moments before. "Move and you're biting it." Trau glanced to the figure perched on the other Chromer like a feeding vulture. "I figure you got two options here, take your chances with them," Trau nodded to the Chromers making their way into the construction site, guns drawn, "Or you can put your knives away and I'll give you a lift out of here."

They pulled around to the other side of the backhoe, and then peeled back. If they were going to try to outrun a RPG, they were going to have to do some fancy footwork. He could feel the breath of the RPG breathing down his neck...it was either that or his passenger. He pulled back again and darted over a pile of loose asphalt, jumped a little, and then fell back down again. Something exploded behind them. Trau figured it was the asphalt pile when little flaming chunks of tar flared up like the night sky around them. He made for the on-ramp, but decided to cut it hard right back into the thick of the construction when he heard the whine of streetbikes a few hundred yards away. His synapses flared, and then his eyes went a little fuzzy. It was time for maintenance...or an upgrade. But with current finances...hell. He strained his vision to hold on and push himself, zig-zagging through the construction site and then the side streets, back out into Butcher's Field. He pulled into just out of view of a hobo fire, cut the throttle, and scanned the horizon. "That should keep them guessing just what the hell they were chasing..."Trau turned to the man behind him. "Now, what the frack did you do to make them want to blow you up?"

Threl didnt really know what Aleister'd called him out for, couldnt know what his old friend was dragging him into, and wouldnt care either. Thats why it was Threl that Aleister contacted, convinced that he could find no better to help realize their plans. It was the weight of these plans that was unbalancing his nerves. The fate of Daitokai 3 was a matter of great importance to a number of people, most with far greater means than a thug like Aleister, and when a new force comes into play, a force that could swing the balance of power in a new and unexpected direction, these individuals tend to take notice. Aleister's job was to put things into motion, making ready for grander schemes and loftier goals. The kind of thing a chummer who'd already got things the way he wanted would like to n** in the bud. Aleister had to put all these things out of his head, sitting at their table in a divey bar in the a** end of the city, trying to explain to his old friend that they were gonna be running up against some much bigger guns than they'd ever had to deal with before. Aleister was about to put on his best "I'm fragging serious" face and try to explain all this to Threl when he heard the distinctive sound of booted feet on rusted steel above them. He only had time enough to look up, noting a number of man-sized yellowish blotches through the ceiling before laserfire cut through the roof and burned a hole in the table where, seconds earlier, his head had been.

Just when Threl thought Aleister was finally going to fill him in on way he was here a laser cut right through the table. In an instant Threl came to life, jumped to his feet and returned the laser with one of his own. Threl's eyes reveled to him that there were at least 5 more above them and he could here them heading for the stairs. Now standing ready with his claws drawn and vibroblade in hand. "Lanx! If I find out this is your doing, I'll rip your spin out!" Before he could fully finish the threat two men came running down the steps assault rifles in hand. Threl went to aim his laser again but the batteries were reading dead, So he rushed the stairs instead and lunged at the one on the left. He covered the distance quick and sunk his claw deep into the lugs throat. The other turn his rifle on Threl but was to close to do anything more effective than put holes in the wall. Threl's vibroblade cut half way through the mans head before getting stuck. The vibrating weapon made a sickening noise in the thugs skull.

Trau paused for a second, and then nodded. Not knowing who this guy was and why they wanted him, he had to think of some place that he was sure no one would be looking. The perfect place popped into his head...somewhere where the Ziabatsu never found Trau, and a place that was almost guaranteed to keep this guy away from...Chromers? Chromers seemed to stick in Trau's mind; he remembered something about Chromers from when he was a kid, mostly scare tactics from the other neighborhood kids, something about a little gang of party freaks. 'Course, they didn't seem to be a little gang...but, then again, Trau wasn't eight anymore.
