"I was afraid something like this might happen," Thomas replied grimly, with a quick glance at their own lupine companion. Aion had certainly shown little inclination to violence so far, and in fact seemed to be quite passive in nature, but he was worried such a submissive personality might be easily persuaded to follow an alpha male-type. "I'll be sure they don't get their hands on our poor friend here at least. I leave this new group to you for now..." his other questions could wait until he had given the body a proper burial... assuring the others he would return shortly, Thomas moved off alone into the trees...

Copper sighed, which sounded very much like a puppy's whimper and turned to face ther group that had arranged itself around the scorpion man. She was wondering just how to introduce herself. She decided perhaps it would be best to let them rest.
The hound-girl turned to walk away when a beguiling scent wafted to her sensitive black nose. Her ears perked up. She enthusiastically began to search for the source of the scent. It did not take her long to realize the fox was the source of the lovely smell. Quite unwilling to walk away and equally unwilling to wake the exhaused fox or the ferret she flopped to the grass to wait.
She watched them quietly, and with a single-minded devotion, although she did smile as she noticed the ferret gradually curling closer to the fox. She winced when the fox awoke screaming, but then she begun laughing (so hard she was rolling on the ground and her laugh sounded distinctly like baying) as she watched the uncomfortable scene between the two.
" You two are funny!" she announced once she could breath again. " I'm Copper, who are you?"

Lune's entire body tensed and his tail twitched as he was ripped from his revery by the fox's scream. It took him only a moment to identify the triviality of the situation and hiss in quiet annoyance as he raised his body up from the ground and turned to face the amused canine. Bah, such antics... He spotted a grasshopper on the ground a short distance in front of her and moved toward her calmly, his tail relaxed again.
"My name iss Lune. They are Elix and Chestnut."
When he got close enough he caught the grasshopper with his mandibles and quickly consumed it.
"Sso, how have you carnivoress been ssurviving, Copper?"
Lune focused his human eyes on the canine's own and lifted one hand from the ground to finger-comb his blonde hair.

" Very much like that Master Lune," she told him refering to the grasshopper, with a twinkle in her deep brown eyes. " I never thought I'd be ruduced to eating bugs... but yes it is as it happens. Though I suspect that some of the carnivores might be doing a little 'foraging' in the corridors."At this last sentence her droopy face dropped a bit looking rather pathetic.

Species: Serval
Appearance: She has spotted patterns almost like an ocelot, the spots run in lines down her body. Her fur is short and is golden where the black spots aren't. She is fairly short, only about 5 foot. Her hair is golden brown and shoulder length. She has very long legs and arms for her body, and her hands and feet are paws with longer 'fingers'/'toes'. Her ears are ridiculously tall and her tail is only 2 ft long. on her face, her jaw is extended into a muzzle with fangs that almost show. She has golden-green slitted eyes.
Abilities: Serval's are very quick and agile, Slade shares these abilities. She can catch a bird in flight. She is not physically very strong, and will bristle and run from most perceived threats. Being something of a loner, she is often uncomfortable around others and will bluster to cover this. She is quick-witted when solving her own problems but has trouble presenting her ideas to groups unless prssed for time. She is fairly fast on her feet, but is not an endurance runner and takes a long time to recover if forced to run for an extended period.

Aion shifted in some startlement at Copper's outburst and Chestnut's scream. Jerking his head upright and leveling peircing green eyes on the hound. He blinked a few times as he gazed at her, and his nose twitched. Interesting.... a part of his mind told him. That same portion of his conciousness seemed unduely facinated by Sabel and Chestnut as well, though each intrigue seemed a little different. His ears twitched slightly, and settling back into the shade he decided to simply watch this confrontation. He might learn something about his wolf impulses.

Elix jolted nervously when Copper burst into laughter, instinctively he pulled back and hissed at Copper's proximity. Then he dropped his head abashed at his own reaction. "Um...hi, I'm Elix.... the fox here is Cestnut,...I guess it's nice to meet you..." Elix said hesitantly eyeing Copper apprehensively, as though he were debating whether or not the hound girl would try to eat him.

Lune's eyes closed and he sighed with a soft hiss. Indeed... I too have vague recollections of not eating insects... Even if we still possessed the majority of our memories I wonder how many would apply now.
"I ssee. The population of inssects and arachnids around here doess sseem rather large. It sshould provide what we need to ssurvive, regardlessss of whether it iss enjoyable or not."
Lune's eyes opened again and he looked at Copper with a strangely interested look. A tension, almost an excitement, flowed through his heavy frame, tightening his muscles slightly as she spoke of carniverous foraging.
"Perhapss that wouldn't be a bad idea... If it could be proven that thosse monssterss that Thomass referred to can be hunted..." He turned away and began to move in the direction where Thomas had disappeared.

Chestnut's nose twitched. A part of his mind revolted against the hound. The smell he got from her was..... it felt dangerous like an enemy, but looking at her she seemed perfectly freindly. The other part of his mind was as attracted to her as his fox-mind was revolted.
He stood up, stumbling a little over Elix and stepped forward. " Ya.... I'm Chestnut.... and um.... so you're Copper?" His ears twitched this way and that he sort of hoped she didn't laugh at him. All such hopes were dashed when his stomach rumbled loud enough for everyone to hear.

Copper turned to the Fox and the Ferret her droppy face again breaking into a dog grin (tongue out and the edges of her droopy muzzle turned up). She laughed gaily when Chestnut's stomache revolted against the abuse of prolonged abstinence.
" I can show you where to find some good bugs," she told him, humor still evident in her tone. " I'll just follow my nose," she said and began to enthusiastically sniff around. " This way!" She suddenly announced and dashed off. It was hard to resist baying for some reason.

Aion's ears perked foreward his green eyes tracking Copper's every movement as she ran around. That cold wolf part of his mind held a vauge curiosity for the hound-girl. Not the same way it considered Elix or Chestnut, or even the corpse. But it was interested all the same. Then she started baying, and Aion forgot all else, his throat itched and his muzzle twitched, before he could think about it he rolled onto his feet in one motion. He stretched up to hs full height rolling back his shoulders and throwing back his head, then he loosed a spine-shilling howl, which could be heard for miles within the grove, echoing through the trees until it seemed to come from all directions at once. Lost in the feeling of it, Aion didn't even seem to notice the others who might be nearby, and simply let out a second long-winded howl.

In answer to Copper's baying, and Aion's howl there was a stiring in the bushes and grass to one side of Copper's path and an appendage drew up out of the grass just in time to trip up the hound. The long scaled leg drew inwards as the somewhat reptillian head emerged from the nearby bush, looking down at the recently fallen Copper as it rose, along with the scaled body, and kept rising farther than it had any right to do until it towered at 9 feet looking down at her from behind its mouthful of razor sharp teeth. The eyes were cold, hungry, and irritated. With one step of the creature's incredibly long legs he was standing virtually on top of her and considering her as if wondering how to avenge himself on her person for interrupting whatever he'd been doing a moment before.

Sabel sat back watching the others lazily, geting up to slowly follow after. Then as the new being rose from the grasses she froze, her mane again exploding into a halo of fur. "Gah...ohmigodit'saraptor!" She squeaked, still frozen in place. her mind was filled with images of such animals jumping and running ans sneaking around slaughtering people. It was at about that point she started to edge towards the cover of the trees, seemingly thinking she would somehow blend in.

She stopped, still on the ground staring up at the creature that had emerged from the foilage. She looked up at him with huge brown eyes full of paralyzing fear. She did not speak, she could not run. She simply waited.

Chestnut slid to a stop when he saw Copper fall to the ground.
" Are you all right?" the words were hardly out of his mouth before the lizard man appeared, towering over Copper. Chestnut didn't think, or at least his only thought was ' He is going to kill her!'
The little fox man was filled with an overwhelming emotion. All he knew was that Copper couldn't be eaten. He had just met her.... she had a nice laugh.... she was going to show him food. His concience screamed for him to do something, drowning out his body's urgings to run away.
Hardly knowing what he did Chestnut ran full speed and with a nimble leap placed himself in between the reptilian man and Copper. Far from a cringing cowering Chestnut this Chestnut stood bravely facing the man head held high with a challenging gleam in his green eyes.
