In the Entertainment room Victor runs into Gaius againGaius Harper Gaius shifted restlessly on the couch. It was impossible to get comfortable - if he wasn't crunching the bony length of tail hidden under the wirey black hair, one or both of his proto-wings were pinned awkwardly against the back cushions. He finally had to settle with resting one arm back over the couch, sitting in a slightly side-ways angle, and had to shift periodically as one wing caught behind him fell asleep. One screen, James Bond duked it out atop a train, as heroic and dashing as ever, but Gaius' mind was on other things. It'd been a day, more, and the tools were still missing and everything locked away. When was Sabin going to give them back? Surely the apology would have been enough... So distracted was the pegasus-man, he didn't notice when Vixen, in boredom, began nosing through the collection of movies, occasionally stopping to paw at a couple, and succeeded in spilling a number of them onto the floor. Victor Zimmerman Crawling was steadily becoming easier for Victor, it wasn't certainly a fact he was entirely proud of, it still was very strange and demoralizing that he had to crawl like a lizard in order to move. But that was the hard truth of it, he was becoming a lizard of some unnatural kind, and he had to try and learn to make use of all his limbs if he was going to manage living day-to-day on the island. Victor stopped outside of the entertainment room, it was one of the few places he hadn't been in the village yet, he had also seen the Bat-man, Tommy, just outside of the place but never did go in to look for himself what was there, maybe there was a book or something he could grab from the shelf. After approaching the door, Victor had gotten used to having to rear himself up, balancing his weight on his tail and next to the door, while he worked the doorknob with his chest arms, using them was still difficult, but the small more humanlike hands managed to turn the knob, and crack open the door. With his forelimb, Victor was able to pull the door open and slide down and inside the entertainment room, using a leg to kick it further open while he scuttled inside so his tail wouldn't get caught again. He noticed the TV was on and playing...a james bond movie? someone else must be there. "Hello? anyone in here?" Gaius Harper Vixen was first to notice their company, looking up from the movie case she was having fun batting around the floor. At the sight of Victor, her ears first flicked back, tail lowering in uncertainty, but a whiff of the guy brought back her confidence, though she didn't move closer to him. Instead, she went around the couch to bump her wet nose against the underside of one of Gaius' long feet. The horse-man was jolted from his worries by the sudden coldness. "Eyagh!"he cried, jerking up in his seat. Wings flared, he glowered down at the dog, about to say something, but noticed there was a draft, and the sound of someone else in the room. The voice sounded vaguely familiar, but he couldn't place it. "Yeah? Just me here..." he called over his shoulder, eyes drifting back to the movie. Victor Zimmerman Victor realized who it was after seeing the dog, and the wings that Gaius spread out after getting cold-nosed by Vixen. Victor wasn't quite sure if it was the best idea to stay... considering how Gaius reacted last time to seeing him. The lizardman moved closer to the side of the couch, so that he could speak to the Horse man, and that Gaius could see him, if he wanted to. "Hey there Gaiuss....itss Victor" Gaius Harper Gaius finally turned away from the movie, casting a casual look back over his shoulder, and froze, staring. There, just like that nightmarish evening, sat Victor, propped up on his four natural limbs, the extras all curled around. This time, though, the sudden shock was less, as he'd already seen the man-thing before, and the room was well-lit and in a public place. It was the difference between encountering a bogeyman in your room at night and walking down the street on a sunny day. Still unnerving, but not to the same degree. Still, that didn't stop Gaius from staring. It was several moments before Gaius found his voice, which came out in a high, nervous pitch despite his attempt to sound casual. "H-Hi Victor... what brings you to th-this neck of the woods?" Victor Zimmerman Victor watched Gaius stare back at him for a short while before starting to shuffle himself around the back of the horse man's couch, before moving to the couch next to Gaius' and then with some effort, climbed onto it, facing the horseman, having to lay out on his belly, looking between the movie and Gaius. The staring didn't bother himself so much, but he was bothered by the nervious tone in the horse-man's voice. "I wassss going to look for a book to read or maybe watch a movie. I hadn't been in here yet, it looksss nicsse" Victor told the other man, his tail flicking back and forth as it hanged off the end of the couch. "You ssshouldn't be worried Gaiuss, I'm not going to bite you or anything like that" Gaius Harper An unusually high laugh escaped Gaius, who glanced between Victor's face to his limbs and the tail. "Ahaha... yeah..." How could he act that casual with that body? Still trying to avoid the topic of their last encounter, Gaius motioned at the TV screen. "You, uh, like James Bond? I always enjoyed the movies before I came here. Good simple action and gadgets and stuff..." Victor Zimmerman Victor frowned at the high laughter that came from Gaius, looking towards the Horse-man, watching him, and then back to the TV screen. "They're alright moviesss, only one or two I really do like, Dr. No and Goldeneye. I like Myssstery moviessss more" Victor's chest arms figited, licking his tongue along the inside of his orginal mouth. He rather not allow things to get into an uncomfortible silence where Gaius might be compelled to leave out of discomfort by his presence. "How've you been ssssincsse the other night?" Gaius Harper Gaius winced. He'd hoped the topic wouldn't come up, but it was unavoidable, really. "I'm... alright. Work at the site has gone well... except for a couple, er, misshaps... er, bumps... obstacle thingies. And, well, talking with Zach..." He ran a hand back over his neck and sighed through his nose. Unavoidable. "Listen, Victor..." he spoke in a steadier voice, though he avoided looking at the guy's slitted eyes. "I'm... sorry about what happened... it's just, well..." He waved a hand at Victor's appearance helplessly. How was he supposed to deal with that? Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded at that quietly, he was curious what was going on with the theater, but that wasn't what Victor really wanted to talk about right now. He watched Gaius wave his hand towards him and the lizardman turned his head away for a moment, to the TV screen. "Itssss alright Gaiusss." Victor paused, it wasn't exactly alright, Gaius had screamed, and then ran out the door, in the most vulnerable moment of his life, Gaius had ran out. The lizardman's upper mouth twitched before he spoke again. "It hurt me alot that you did that, but I undersssstand why it happened, you got sssscared, it sssstill botherssss me, all thisss" Victor said as he used his foreleg to motion to himself. Gaius Harper "It's just... damn..." Gaius shook his head feebly. "I don't know. I don't know how to handle it. It's... like... nrr...." He made an odd sound in his throat and looked away. He didn't want to say it, but the limbs, the features, they reminded him of that night, months ago, when his still-human feet had passed amongst the gruesome forest of failed corpses. "W-Was your serum... supposed to do that? I mean, if the labs were actually trying to do something like that to you... damn, they're worse than I would have thought." Victor Zimmerman Victor shook his head quietly "I don't know if it issss sssupposssst to be like thisss or not, I haven't called them to assssk, not ssssure I want to know, becausssse i'f i'm not done changing, it could get worsssse" Victor looked towards Gaius after saying that, studying him, the odd sound he made and what he said... had he seen something like this before? Victor shook his head at the thought, it didn't seem like anyone he talked to so far had seen anything he reminded them of. "Gaiussss, you don't have to worry about handling it, not like I will have too...and if it doessss get worssse, I'll need friendsss to help me get though it, at leassst afterwardsss." Gaius Harper Gaius shook his head, staring back to Victor, or more accurately, staring at his features. "But how can you handle it? I mean, look at you! Look at what the labs have done to you... you're not just going to accept that, are you?" He sat back against the couch, sighing. "I... I don't know, Vic. This is all too much... I mean, how many changes have you had? If the next one is worse..." He trailed off, stopping him short of asking the man just how much humanity he'd have left. Victor Zimmerman "I handle it...by focussssing on Living, Gaiussss, on living. I don't like whatssss being done to me but I have to accept that it hassss been done to me and in all probability, They're not going to change me or anyone elsssse back." Victor shifted his body, his tail falling to the side off the couch as he tried pulling himself up to better look at Gaius. "I already did look at mysssself, and I broke the mirror with my sssshoe" Victor said, crossing his forearms as he looked back at the TV. "I've changed two timesss...." Gaius Harper "Twice..." Gaius repeated. That meant he still had two more... If such a drastic change could overtake Victor after only two, what more did he have in store? Two mouths, would he even be able to speak? To move? How could a body handle that kind of warping? "I'm sure they have to have something for times when this happens..." Gaius suggested. "I mean, something to take it back? Some way to fix it? That's what all the experimenting they do is for, right? If not, then... what good are they?" Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded at the suggestion, looking back at Gaius "Itsss ssssomething I'll have to assssk, but do you know if they have done anything to fixss anyone elsssse'sss change? ssssome of thisss they might be able to fixsss with sssurgery..." Victor shook his head, it wasn't a thought he liked to entertain, what could the labs possibly do now to make this any 'better' or take it back? "Hassss anything like thissss happened before?" It was a nagging question that was on his mind and he had to ask. Gaius Harper "It's, er, well..." Gaius fidgeted, trying to shift his feet only to find Vixen resting on them. No wonder they felt so warm and heavy... "Er, you see..." He ran a hand back over his neck. "Truthfully... I... haven't seen any kind of 'fix'... I don't know, I'm probably not the one to talk to..." He chewed on his lip, looking away from Victor. "It... I don't know if anything like this has happened to subjects here... but, on Halloween, there was this area of the path to the graveyard... all the trees were hung with twisted, disfigured... animals. They were clearly failed experiments. It was... horrible." Gaius gave an involuntary shudder. "I... I don't know if you're like them... but..." he trailed off. Victor Zimmerman Victor looked away from Gaius after the mention of the failed experiments, the implication was there, that he was like them, the twisted and disfigured creatures Gaius spoke of. The lizardman shook his head, it was something he didn't want to consider, to think of, but Jordan, he had mentioned complications and was scared that he was developing them and might die as a result. Was that Victor's fate? was he some twisted abomination because someone in the labs had made a -mistake- ? The seed of doubt had been planted, and was taking root in his mind. It was frightening to think of, if the result of his changes so far were because someone didn't mix something right, or shook the test tube too long or mixed too much reagent into the serum.... "I'm not like them....if they were assss bad asssss you ssssaid, I wouldn't be here now" Victor said flatly, but couldn't even convice himself....was he a failed experiment? doomed to die from complications from what the labs were giving them? Gaius Harper "O-of course not..." Gaius faultered, though he didn't sound confident at all. "I'm sure... somehow... you'll be fine..." The movie had lost all appeal to Gaius. How could he enjoy it sitting there, talking with Victor about failed experiments of all things? "Even... even if you change, at least you're still human... in mind and soul, at least," he offered. Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded at what Gaius said, it was true, he would still be human in mind and soul, unless with the next change he let himself decend into darkness and let go of rational thought. It was a sobering and frightening thought, that while his body was warped and twisted, and might become something worse, more monsterous, that he might loose his mind in the process. "I'll be alright Gaiussss, asss long asss I have friendssss, and people I can trusssst closssse to me, sssso if thingssss do go bad, I don't do anything...to myssself, and get help if needed." Victor was very serious of that point, the other thing that really did scare him, was the thoughts of self-destruction that had entered his mind, and left just as quickly. If his door wasn't open... and Zach had stopped by, would he had tried to just end things? would the labs have stopped him? "I want you to be one of thossse people Gaiusss, a friend I can trussst" Gaius Harper Gaius shifted uncomfortably. It was a lot to be asked. How could he offer support to something like Victor? How could he ask such a thing? Hadn't he seen how he'd run out before? Part of him berated himself. How could he be so selective in who he supported? He wasn't like Zach, after all. If he was going to help one islander, he was going to help everyone. Would he be like this if it was Marshall sitting there on the couch across from him? Or what about Liamh? Clenching his hands together in his lap, Gaius took a long breathe before nodding, slowly. "A-Alright... I'll do my best. You'll have to forgive my nerves, though... It's not easy. Not at all." Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded towards Gaius, then looked back at the TV screen again. He knew it was alot to ask of Gaius, and was unsure for a moment if the horse-man would agree or not, but was glad he did. All Victor wanted was to be treated and supported like any decent human being should support another. "Thank you, and I know itsss not eassssy, but you are sssstronger than you believe yourssself to be, And I would do the ssssame for you if you were in my possssition" Gaius Harper Gaius flinched. "I... er... right." Victor's words were convicting, very much so. Now, more so than ever, it was his duty to support the man, and he was bound to it by his honor. Giving Vixen a shove to get his feet free, Gaius pushed himself up off the couch. He needed to get away, get some time to himself, to deal with everything. Time to think. "I-I need to go... just need to take a walk or something," he explained, hoping Victor wouldn't take it badly. "I'll... see you around, okay?" Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded, quietly watching Gaius and Vixen while he shifted himself to a more comfortible position. "Ok Gaiussss, I'll ssssee you around, you know where I'm at, drop by or call sssometime." The lizardman slid off the couch and moved towards the DVD collection, his tail landing close to the Horseman's feet while Victor looked though the movies there before picked out 'Jarhead'. He fumbled with the DVD case, and the controls on the DVD player before getting the DVD into the DVD player, and started the movie, moving back to the couch and getting back up on it. "Take care Gaiusss" Gaius Harper Gaius watched awkwardly, unsure whether he should help the guy as he fumbled. It was like watching a handicap, he didn't know how much intrusion would be insulting. "Right, you too Vic," he gave a final nod and went for the door, Vixen following with a DVD case clutched in her mouth, though Gaius didn't notice it as they both exited through the door. It was a relief to get out of there. Much as Gaius liked company, it was hard facing something like that. Victor Zimmerman Victor watched Gaius go, he was partially glad that the horse-man had left, but was also sorry that Gaius didn't feel like that he could stay. Mentally Victor went over what they had talked about...and the questions that he had in his mind, things he was building himself up to ask Dr. Duvert. He needed to talk to someone in the labs... there were things he needed to know, but was almost afraid to ask. The lizardman laid on the couch, watching the movie, silently thinking of someone else he needed to talk to. Bia. How was he going to talk to her like this? [Fin]

Movie NightVictor meets Tommy again Victor Zimmerman [New RP] Victor woke back up with a groan, he had fallen asleep while watching Jarhead, his upper body and head resting on some pillows he had grabbed earlier. He shifted and sat up as much as he could, one of his chest arms felt like it had fallen asleep. The menu screen for the movie was playing in an endless loop. The lizardman sighed as he tried shaking the numb limb, now filled with small pins and needles as proper circulation returned to the small twisted limb. Victor glanced outside as he went to take the movie out, and noticed it was just starting to get dark. Victor quietly wondered exactly how long he had fallen asleep as he searched the vast collection of movies for something else to watch. Tommy Christian Tommy slowly pushed the door open with his shoulder, wincing all the while. He had some dirty bandages still on them from when Zach had raked his back with his claws. He wondered absently how the red dragon was doing, but quickly blew that thought out of his mind. He just didn't care anymore. He blinked a few times, trying to get the haze of sleep from his mind. He had woken up about twenty minutes ago. For once though, he was clean (at least mostly...he still had some blood stains that wouldn't come out). He crutched his way into the entertainment room on all fours, his hands wrapped in linnen to help protect them from the constant contact with the ground. As he entered though, he heard rather than saw someone else in the room...Jarhead was being taken out. He chuckled somewhat at that, wanting to comment on that film. He decided not to though, not knowing who was in the room. Instead, he just crutched in further. Victor Zimmerman Victor heard someone trying to come into the entertainment room and wondered who it could have been while he used his chest arms to clumsily stick the DVD back in its case and put it down, looking over his shoulder to see who it was that came in. "Tommy?" Victor asked, it wasn't that hard to recognise him, but the lizardman was expecting to see a walker with the Bat-man, and was surprised to see the linen on his hands, and the bloodstains on him. It took a moment for Victor to get hismelf turned around to face Tommy, something fairly easy to do now that tommy was on all fours, like he was. "You alright there?" Tommy Christian Tommy blinked a few times as he instantly recognized Victor's unforgetable face. He smiled slightly...Tommy liked the guy. He had it rough, for sure...but he'll make it out alright...the same couldn't be said for Tommy though. He picked up his right hand and stretched out the forming wing before putting it back down and stretching the other. "...Heh...pretty damn far from alright...but I'll live...that's all that really matters anymore...." he shook his head, trying to clear it of the self-defeating thoughts that have been plaguing him for the past few days. What he wouldn't give for some prozac...or a drinking buddy, whatever works. "What'cha watchin'?" Victor Zimmerman "I actually wasss going to pick ssssomething, fell assssleep during Jarhead, you want to pick sssomething?" Victor looked over Tommy's hands again before moving to the side so Tommy could choose more easily. Tommy Christian If Victor looked close enough, he would see that there are small patches of blood that had seeped through the bandages on his hands also. But at the thought of picking a movie, his eyes seemed to brighten somewhat. "Oh! Um...sure! What'cha feel like watching?" he says as he crutches his way toward the selection. "Hmm...comedy...maybe a black comedy...of course we could always go Mel Brooks....Young Frankenstein maybe...Though horror would be good...any Dark Castle movies here...? Hmm..." he mutters all of this to himself before turning back to look at Victor. "I dunno...pick a genre," he says with a grin. Victor Zimmerman "I'm pretty open to watching almossst anything...but maybe a dark comedy would be good" Victor suggested, his eyes noticing the blood on Tommy's hand-bandages, but not saying anything yet. "I think I sssaw a couple dark Casssstle moviesss in there" Tommy Christian Tommy nods a few times before running an extremely long digit along the movie titles, keeping his other hand planted on the ground for support. "Hmm...well, Dark Castle is more straight up horror...though House on Haunted Hill and Ghost Ship couldn't be taken seriously...hmm...Ah what the hell..." he says as he plucks House on Haunted Hill out of the rack. He puts the DVD case in his mouth before crutching over to the DVD player. It takes a few tries, but he finally finangles the disc into the player. Nodding with satisfaction, he turns and climbs up onto the couch, grabbing the remote with one of his feet/hands. "How've you been, man?" he asks with genuine concern as he waits for the Title Menu to load. Victor Zimmerman Victor chuckled as Tommy picked out House on Haunted Hill, It really was a pretty bad movie, and the orginal wasn't entirely good either. The lizardman watched as Tommy held the remote with his foot, which upon closer inspection did look more like a hand... He looked from Tommy's foot back to the Bat-man. "I've been alright, talked with sssomeone earlier, Gaiussss, pretty good guy, don't know if you've met him or not, but he wasss the firssst to get a look at me, I called him over to bring sssome food to my duplexss that day and gave him a bad fright but I think he'sss better now" Victor couldn't ignore those bloodstained linen sheets much longer. "If you want, I got ssssome old shirts, jeansss, and khaki shortsss that I won't be able to wear again if you cut up and used with those sheets, might help out" Tommy Christian It's pretty obvious that Tommy doesn't have the greatest manual dexterity in his feet/hands yet, as he presses the wrong button a few times before finally getting the movie to play. He glances over as Victor mentions Giaus. "Hmm? Oh Gaius...heh, yeah. He seems like a good guy. Only met him what...twice I think...heard he was a carpenter or something...wonder if he could install a pullup bar in my duplex..." he muttered moreso to himself before looking back to Victor, "Did he? Goddamn...but yeah, I know how you feel on that end. I had this one guy feint on me." At Victor's mention of the linen sheets he glanced down to his wing/hands, flexing them. "Yeah...I dunno...hurts like a b***h. My bone structure wants me to crutch myself along, but my knuckles just aren't toughened up enough for that yet. They're all scraped up still..." he says with a sigh, "But yeah, that's not a bad idea. I've got some stuff like that back in my duplex...Actually, may as well use my battle dress uniform...that stuff's pretty damn tough." Victor Zimmerman "Yeah, He's a good guy, and he's a carpenter and probably could do some work for you if you asked" Victor told Tommy and nodded at hearing someone feinted on Tommy, it certainly wasn't a nice situation to experiance, and it was a bit comforting to know somwone else understood how that felt. "Probably would work out well, if you had some tough fabric or something to keep from wearing down, and then padded the inside to be easier on your hands when you moved around" Victor looked towards the TV screen asin the movie the security gates in the mental asylum got tripped and locked the people inside. Tommy Christian Tommy nodded a few times, wondering just how the hell he was going to do that with his hands as they were...maybe someone with more opposable thumbs than he had could do it for me. He shook his head in thought before glancing at Victor and then the movie. "Yeah...they took away my bed a while ago...got no place to sleep. Think they want me to...um...do the bat thing I guess.." he says with a shrug. "...all of a sudden this movie hits a lot closer to home," he mutters out as he watches the patients murdering everyone in the asylum. Victor Zimmerman "They took your bed?" Victor asked with a frown, he didn't like the idea of Tommy having to do the 'bat thing'. So that was why Tommy wanted the pull up bar put in his duplex. "Thatsss...not right, you ssshould at leassst be able to have bed availible to you, I mean, how could they exspect you to try hanging upssside down from sssomething to sssleep? your feet can't be that ssstrong already are they?, I doubt they'd want to risssk having you break your neck or sssomething from waking up from a nightmare and falling headfirssst to the floor" The thought of that was bothersome, as wasTommy's comment about the movie. "Probably be better if you borrowed one of the couchess in here, then you'd have sssomething to ssssleep on." Tommy Christian "Yeah, tell me about it...I dunno...but something tells me they're strong enough..." he says quietly, remembering how it felt when the claws on his feet dug into Zach's midsection like a vice. He shuddered slightly. "Actually, the couch thing's not a bad idea...just need to find some people with working opposable thumbs to move it." He paused for a moment, thinking about what he just said...and started chuckling at the absurdity of it. Victor Zimmerman Victor looked at the couch and back at Tommy after he mentioned the opposable thumb thing. "Well, I couldn't really lift it, but probably could help push the thing along, you're in 54 right? itsss not that far away." He did want to help Tommy out, it wasn't fair that Tommy had his bed taken from him. Tommy Christian Tommy's head perks up as the Maryln Manson version of Sweet Dreams are Made of These comes on. He'd always like both versions...at least until Manson started to sound like he was puking into the microphone. His head bobbed a little to it, his ears picking up quality in the music he'd never heard of before. When Victor spoke, it snapped Tommy out of it though. "Hmm? Oh...heh, fifty four's a second floor duplex. Besides...now that I think about it, it's obvious the labs don't want me to have a bed to sleep on...they'll probably just knock me out and steal it while I'm asleep." He shrugs in his defeatist attitude. With a sigh, he pulls out a package of blood from his cargo pants pocket. Victor Zimmerman Victor shook his head when Tommy said it was a second floor duplex, the lizardman had completely forgot the odd numbered duplexes were on the ground level, Evens were the second floor. "They're a mean bunch of basssstardsss if they'd do that to you again, they ought to at least provide you ssssomething to ssssleep on even if its just a matressss" Victor frowned in disaproval, shaking his head "Well you could try ssssleeping in here then, or...." The lizardman glanced at the packet of blood for a bit, distracted, but then remembered what he was going to say. "We could share my duplexss, If you're active at night while I'm up during the day, you could sssleep in my bed during the day and jusssst trade off at night" Victor suggested "at leassst until you got sssome furnature in your duplexss and that pull up bar" Tommy Christian Tommy nods as Victor speaks, "Yeah, I hear you...goddamn bastards...But if I had to guess it's one of those behavioral modification experiments or something, you know? See how long before I crack..." He shakes his head with a sigh. "Heh..tried that...doesn't work when people try to use the place during the day," he says with a grin. At his next comment though, he openly looked surprised toward Victor. "...you mean it? Like...seriously? You're not ******** with me, right?" he says, surprised...but also rather happy about it. Victor Zimmerman Victor didn't like the idea of the labs trying to experiment to change Tommy's behavor.... with the people populating the island already changing into animals, experimenting on trying to change people's behavor or thought processs seemed even more cruel, and more frightening. "I am sssseriousss Tommy, and definately not ssscrewing around on thissss, I did sssay I'd help out if you ever did need it, and its the leassst I can do" Victor smiled slightly when he said that, he really did mean it. Tommy Christian Tommy paused for a moment, looking at the television, "...huh...how about that. And here I was thinking I'd just get a meal and a movie out of the night." He grins and pokes a straw through the packet of blood. "Thanks man, I appreciate it, really I do," he says to Victor. "And I won't be there long either. I just need to find Gaius and see if he can help me out." Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded, watching the Batman drink the blood from the packet, glacing back at the movie where one of the female characters was getting electicuted in an electro-shock therapy device. "You can ssstay assss long asss you need Tommy, it really isssn't a problem, I'm happy to be able to help anyone" Tommy Christian "Well thanks again, man..." he says with sincerity. He glances back to the screen, not really needing to since he's seen this movie well over ten times. He smirks and shakes his head before looking back to Victor. He blinks a few times in thought and then grins, "Last name's Christian by the way. Tommy Christian. Where're you from?" Victor Zimmerman "you're Welcome" Victor said politely as he watched some other person in the movie meet their untimely death. "Zimmerman" Victor told the Bat man "Victor Zimmerman, native to Maine, father was a tailor and I had to learn ssssome of that but I moved and lived in Bossston, Masssss for a while to earn money and go to college, that whole deal, where you orginally from Tommy?" Tommy Christian Tommy nods a few times as the Vincent Price look-a-like gets shot a few times. "Maine? Huh...yeah, I'm originally from New Orleans myself. After the hurricaine though, my family moved to Florida...though by that time I was already at the Air Force Academy. Heh, reason I ended up here...was on a an ops flight to Aviano Italy. Think the plane hit a flock of seagulls or something..." Victor Zimmerman "I got grandparentsss in Florida, they sssstay down there jusssst about full time now, they ussssed to move back and forth between Maine and florida" Victor had to shift position again, stretching his chest arms while on the Tv screen, where Mrs. Price was being devoured by the darkness that been trapped underneith the asylum. "Never been to New Orleansss sssorry to sssay, been up and down the eassst coassst but never traveled out to the gulf coassst, I'm here caussse they tricked me into finissshing an internssship with them" Tommy Christian Tommy grins at the small talk they were having. It's not something you get around here very often. Most of the time it was one person complaining to the other about how much this sucks. Or some hairbrained scheme about how they're going to get off. Or sometimes, if you're lucky...talking down a friend who's gone feral. "Yeah...goddamn what I wouldn't do for a big plate of boiled crawfish..." This was nice though. He hadn't had one of these conversations in a long time. Tommy grins at the scene. "And here's where the movie gets just stupid...I mean, it was alright, up until this part, yaknow? Descent surreal horror...we don't quite know what the 'evil' is...and then this s**t." Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded, it was nice to just have a conversation with someone else for a change. The lizardman looked at the packet of blood Tommy had, Was that all the bat man could eat now? the couple times he met Tommy he always had a packet of blood with him. "you could try getting some boiled crawfisssh, sssshell them, then get ssssomeone with a blender to puree them into a liquid then mixss it with the blood" Victor had to shift his tail out of the way, the trouble with laying on a couch with something so long was it was hard to keep comfortible with it hanging half off the couch. The lizardman chuckled lightly at the movie scene, it really was a stupid way to end a bad remake. "Yeah....they could have done better than that, Itsss like they gave up near the end and wrote in that ssstupid ssscene" Tommy Christian Tommy glanced down at the blood packet as he drained the last bit of it out. It looked like an empty Capri Sun...yaknow...except red. With a sigh he stuffs the trash into his cargo pocket. He chuckles at Victor's remark, thinking of a quote from the Simpson's. "I can still eat corn on the cob...if someone cuts it up and grinds it into a mush paste...now that's good eat'n!" he says in a decent 'Grandpa Simpson' voice. "But...nah, I dunno if I could even stomach that. Anything I try usually ends up coming right back up...haven't tried beer yet though..." he says, thinking to himself. Victor Zimmerman Victor chuckled at the simpson quote, recognising the Grampa Simpson impression, and thought it was rather decent, and made him smile, not very noticible on his lower mouth with the much larger snout above it. "I don't actually like beer, but hard liquor I'll drink, a couple large long issssland Icsse tea will give me a good buzz, but haven't had anything to drink ssssincsse I changed" Tommy Christian Tommy saw something going on with Victor's mouths, so he decided to take as a good thing. He grinned. "No? heh, I'm a college and military...gotta drink on a budget. Had to force myself to like beer. But hard liquor works too, s**t, I'm good with about anything...haven't had a good Bourbon and Coke in a long time. He gives a yawn, which shows off very large fangs, while he stretches his extremely large fingers. He looks down at them for a long momnet. "...Hey Victor..." he says quietly, "is it wrong of me to...want the next change to come faster?" His mind drifts to wondering what it would be like having actual wings instead of these hideously long fingers. Victor Zimmerman "yeah, drinking on a budget, know how that issss" Victor said as he sat up further, his eyebrows furrowing together at Tommy's question, it was a pretty serious question to have to consider, and it took a moment for him to think of an answer. "...No, Itsss not wrong" Victor said as he paused to explain his reasoning. "The changesss, they have to ssstop sssometime, and if you...rather have the next change be ssssooner... issss it becaussse you'd want the changesss to end or issss it the waiting for the nexsst one bothering you?" Tommy Christian Tommy looked over to Victor with a deep sadness in his eyes. It seemed to come out of nowhere, him being relatively happy a moment ago. But he's got to let it out every now and again...or else the Zach incident may happen again. "Both I guess...but...in all honesty, I hate being trapped inbetween, yaknow? I'm so goddamn tired of this place that I'd be content with one form or the other now..." he shakes his head as he looks down at the webbing between his fingers. He blinks a few times, realizing just who he's bitching to and suddenly feels extremely selfish. With a deep sigh he continues, "Sorry...I try not to bring up this place too much anymore...but holding it in doesn't help at all either...heh, I guess bitching is my way of venting." Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded to Tommy, he could see that saddness in the batman's eyes. "Itsss alright Tommy, everyone needsss to vent and let thingssss out every oncsse and a while, doessss no good to keep emotionsss all bottled up" Victor also looked at Tommy's half formed wings. they were strange to look at, they didn't quite appear to be wings as much as they looked to be very long fingers with webbing between the extra long digits. "I underssstand how you feel, being trapped between formsss, I'm sssure almosssst everyone here would rather have to only change oncsse, rather than all thissss waiting to have it happen again. You look clossser to having the changesss finisssh...and I'm sssure thingsss will get easssier and better oncsse the changesss are done, You can worry about other thingsss and not about when the nexsst change will be. I hope when my changesss end that I won't be ssso hard on people's eyesss" Victor said and chuckled lightly, he really did want to believe that in the end he wouldn't look as bad as he did now Tommy Christian Tommy smirks at that. "Yeah...I hear ya, Victor. I had that problem for the longest time here...think I'm finally getting over it," he says with a light chuckle to break the mood. He glanced up at the television where the credits started rolling. Damn how the time flies. He instinctively looked at his left wrist to see what time it was, but mentally slapped himself because there is not watch there anymore. It won't really fit. "Yeah, it's happened...what...three times now? From what I hear, your fourth is the last one though the time inbetween gets longer and longer with each change. Should be a few months if I had to guess." Tommy looks over Victor for a moment, just trying to picture what his end result will look like...Goddamn, it looks like four different lizards are all trying to share the same skin...s**t, I pray Victor'll be alright... He just smiled, "I'm sure you'll be fine," he lies. "Besides, all you've gotta do is stand next to a gaint vampire bat and you'll look like a damn prince," he says jokingly. Victor Zimmerman "Four times?" Victor asked again even though Tommy had just told him that, it was hard to imagine if this was just his second change, and he changed to such an extreme measure, what else would change the next time it happened? how much more could his body and mind take? the lizardman shook his head, now really wasn't the time to dwell on that, at least not until it happened. Victor laughed at Tommy's joke, but not because it was terribly funny. "You won't look that bad Tommy, bats aren't really that ugly" He thought about some show he'd seen on animal planet some time, and crawled off the couch for a moment and started to poke around the animal books there, using his foreleg to hook a claw into the book's binding to pull it free of the shelf and to the floor, he picked out a book on mammals and another one of lizards. He clutched at the mammal one, fumbling with the book in his chest arms, holding the book with his lower chest arms, while the more humanlike pair turned the pages, having to tilt his head to the side to get a good look at the pages before crawling over slowly and setting it down in front of Tommy. "I'd hate to be turned into that" Victor said as he tapped the picture of a very ugly Naked Mole rat with what used to be his index finger, now just a long curved claw. with a bit of effort, Victor got the book of lizards and reptiles onto the couch, and crawled back onto it, and started flipping though it. "Might as well try and figure out what kind of lizard I am..." Tommy Christian Tommy nods, "Yeah...four times..." he says while clicking off the movie with a digit on his foot. Tommy mentally thanked Victor for the chuckle at his dumb, and probably less than tactful joke. "Yeah, I know..." he says, trailing off. A sudden thought came to him...would he lose his human eyes? A flash of Alec and his dead, shark eyes...it was possible...he shudders slightly at that though. As Victor got up, Tommy looked curiously over in his direction, "What're you gettin...oh...ah, I see...hah! yeah, seriously...now those things are a** ugly." As Victor began flipping through the lizards and repitles book, he picked up the mammals book gently and began searching through it for the Vampire bat. "Heh...I asked before it happened...that b*****d Sabin made me play some sick game to get it. He'd give me clues. First one was a bird in a cage, second was a packet of blood. Flying, blood...two and two together gave me a bat. though I guess it could've been worse...there's always the mosquito." Victor Zimmerman Victor flipped though the pages, looking at each picture, but he wasn't a zoologist or very good at identifying reptiles of all things, and he only really had gotten a good look at himself once, and than broke the mirror afterwards. He was thinking to himself when Tommy spoke up ahout Sabin and frowned. Why would Sabin play games with someone? Victor had heard Sabin was a bad egg from Chubbs, but a good person by Zachary, Victor would have to call this guy and find out for himself "Not good that ssssomeone would play gamesss with people like that..." Victor said, his eyes widening when Tommy mentioned the mosquito. "They can make people into insssectsss too ? that'sss....horrible" Victor simply said, it really was mind boggling that the labs could so dramaticly alter people to make them into animals, but Insects were even more alien and in Victor's mind, far worse to have to change into. Victor set the reptile book down for now, he felt he need to change the topic of conversation. "When would you like to move into my duplexss?" Tommy Christian Tommy stared at the image of a vampire bat on the page before him. One was a shot of it flying, the other of it just standing there on the ground, looking at the camera with mouth open. He shuddered slightly, an odd feeling tingling up his spine. He looked up as Victor queried about the insects. "...yeah..." he decides not to mention the resident flea man on the island. And thankfully, Victor hadn't brought up the fact that he knew Zach. So he just nodded. "Oh...um...anytime is fine I guess. I don't really have much to my name. A backpack, with some stuff in it, some pictures, 'n a toothbrush." He idly wonders what's the point of the toothbrush anymore...he nearly sliced it in half by accidentally brushing the sides of his teeth once. He didn't even have that many teeth left, his mouth dominated by the large razors in his mouth. Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded at that. "Well, I'll keep the door unlocked ssso you can come in when you'd like, jussst knock firssst before you come in" The lizardman sat up more, looking over at Tommy more directly. "I got to get myssself a boxss or sssomething, get rid of my old clothesss, I want to eventually have them take that wardrobe out of my room ssso I can get a nicsse large couch to lay on, Can't sssit in the chair but itsss good for when guessstss are there" Tommy Christian "Cool, thanks again, man," he said with a nod. He quickly calculated just what he'll have to bring...backpack...medical chest with food...pictures...wow...was that all? Everything to his name can fit in a backpack. "Get a futon, those're really comfortable. Saves space too. But yeah, I'll come by sometime in the morning I guess. This nocturnal s**t's killing me," he said with a grin. Victor Zimmerman "Not a problem Tommy, alot better than having you sssleep on the floor or sssomeplacse elssse" Victor told the Bat man, thinking about his suggestion of the Futon. "I'll keep the Futon in mind, itssss a good idea" Victor closed the book on Lizards and reptiles, he probably wouldn't find what he was looking for in the book now, but he knew he could always ask someone in the labs. "I know I can sssstay up late but I'm light-sssensssitive, it ssstarts getting bright outssside and the sssun wakesss me up" Tommy Christian "Really? The whole uh...cold blooded thing?" he asks. God tha must suck a**...couldn't even imagine what that'd be like. "Well...alright then, I tend to get tired at dawn, so yeah...that'd work out nice." Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded at that "Yeah, the whole cold blooded thing, the ssssun makessss me feel warmer, better, more active, ssso not much choicsse, been waking up about... Ssseven each morning." the Lizardman shrugged his shoulders "Not that bad except if it getssss too cold at night, that can bother me...which isss why I ordered an electric blanket, don't have to worry about the cold" He used one of his chest arms to rub along his lower jaw, and then the underside of his much larger snout, it was very strange to feel these features, especially the upper mouth, that huge maw he would try and keep closed when he could but sometimes moved on its own when he spoke. Touching those features only reminded himself of how muh his body had changed and he stopped, letting the arm drop. "I guesssss I'll ssssee you sssometime in the morning then?" Victor asked, thinking he probably ought to be going Tommy Christian "Heheh, I'm too scared to ask the labs for anything. I'm not all that much in their good graces at the moment...long story, but yeah...it'd be nice to get a computer...I have an external harddrive I managed to salvage from the wreck, but my laptop's probably 20000 leagues under the sea right now." Tommy glanced at Victor rubbing his extra set of jaws and quickly looks away...back down to his magazine. "Hmm? Oh...yeah, sure. I'll seeya then. I've still got about nine or so hours before I'm tired enough to go to sleep." Victor Zimmerman Victor had started to crawl back off the couch, with the reptile book in his arms when Tommy mention wanting a computer and how his was under the ocean now. "I have a laptop, I don't ussse it much anymore, I wouldn't be opposssed to sssharing it, I wassss thinking of giving it away but decided to wait, might be usssseful later" Tommy Christian Tommy's eyes light up, "Really? Sweet...I've got some stuff on there I'd like to look at...writings and pictures and things like that. Heh, don't think I've got the manual dexterity to play games, eh?" he says, trying to make light of the situation. "But yeah, rock on. I'll catch you later then," he says with a nod. Victor Zimmerman Victor nodded "Yeah I hear you... I don't have much dexterity in these little arms and hands of mine....but yesss I'll ssssee you around Tommy" the Lizardman says as he starts to crawl towards the door, standing up to work it open and then sliding outside, carrying the reptile book with him Tommy Christian Tommy nods to him as the lizard-man leaves, "Seeya later, man." With a sigh, Tommy presses the power button on the television, turning off the light humming. The thought of the beach bar called to him.

Moving Day
Tommy moves into Victor's Duplex
Victor had woken up early that morning with the sun's early morning light shining though the window, however it didn't bother him so much now, the sun was a larger part of his life now with his transition to his more cold-blooded nature. Waking up early also gave him an advantage because he expected Tommy to arrive sometime soon, and allowed him to get things cleaned up in his duplex.
One thing that Victor was pleased was that sometime overnight while he slept the broken mirror in his bathroom had been replaced, the fragments of glass swept away. The lizardman crawled over to the large cardboard box he had found by the trash dumpster and dragged back to his duplex and currently was going though his wardrobe, having to rest his weight back on his tail to stand up in order to clean out the drawers and put the clothes he would never wear again into the box. It felt strange for him to be throwing his clothes away, and only reminded him that he was naked... something that like his mutated features was difficult to get used to, but slowly, he was managing.

Tommy sighs as he gives one last look around his spartan-like duplex. He had everything he could now use in his backpack which was draped over a shoulder, to include some shorts, pictures, and his external harddrive. Underneath his other arm was his box-o-bloodbags. His eyes gaze over the empty room...because that's all it was to him, an empty room.
He squinted against the morning light as he stepped outside. The sun stung his eyes...he hadn't seen it in this intensity in ages. He was too tired to care though. This was well passed the time he normally went to sleep for. Ah well, he'd have to get used to it if he'd want a bed to sleep in.
He slowly made his way toward Victor's duplex. Carrying this load killed his legs, but it had to be done. Once he reached the door, he gave it a few sharp raps.

It had taken a short while but Victor had managed to push the box over towards beside the door when Tommy had knocked on the door. The sound had surprised him, but it wasn't unexpected.
He crawled over to the door, and stood up leaning against the doorframe before turning the doorknob and pushing the door open. looking up at the familiar face of Tommy.
"Hey Tommy, come on in"

Tommy yawned widely as he waited for the door to be opened. He blinked a few times at what sounded like something clawing its way up the door, but then just nodded to himself, remembering Vic's stature.
He grinned sleepily as Victor opened the door. "Hey man," he says as he puts down his things right inside, "I'm not too early, am I?" He gave a look around as he crutched his way inside. His hands were wrapped in camo-material from his BDU's now with linen padding underneath.

Victor shook his head "No, not too early, I've been up for a while, cleaning thingsss up" He motioned with his foreleg towards the box of clothing on the other side of the door. Still holding himself up against the doorframe and balancing his weight back on his large tail, Victor noticed the camo-material on Tommy's hands while the bat man made his way inside.
"Thossse better than jusssst you had on your handsss before?"

Tommy looks around for a place to roost...and catches himself thinking like that with a mental slap to the face. Bed...sleep in a goddamn bed...it's been months, just sleep in a bed. And damn did that bed look good too. He grinned just thinking about getting a good night's sleep for once. Tommy glanced back to Victor as he spoke, "Oh yeah, definately. The cuts are healing up 'n they're not breaking open either. Still hurts, but I think I'll get used to it."
He grins again and picks up his bag to move it to a more out of the way spot. Get used to ********>

"Thatssss good, I got a bottle of painkillerssss on the dessssk there if you need them" Victor nodded, and slowly slid to the floor again, letting the door close for now since Tommy and his things were inside. The lizardman also noticed the box Tommy had brought with him, with the blood in it.
"theressss nothing in the minifridge ssso you can put that in there if you want"

"You do? Sweet man, thanks," he says as he rummages in his backpack for something, muttering to himself about how he forgot the something or other. After a moment of this he looks back to Victor...and then the box, "Yeah...hope you don't mind...I know some people get...squeamish about that sort of stuff." He shrugs before pushing the box over to the minifridge.
He opens it up and stares for a moment...he was hungry again...already? I just had some less than an hour ago...Christ... He shakes his head and begins gently picking them up, one by one, and placing them in the fridge. "There we go..."

Victor looked at the packets of blood for a moment, then shook his head. "No don't mind, Doesssn't bother me ssso much assss long asss itsss not ssssplattered over the floor or dripping down the wallssss" Victor flicked his long tail in back of him, the dark packages of blood didn't make him squeamish, as long as they stayed in the bags. Even with the gory horror movies he had seen, Victor was very conscious of the difference between fake hollywood blood, and the real thing, which you sometimes have to see a lot of when you work at a hospital for any amount of time.
"You can put your other thingsss where you'd like, the wardrobe issss empty, been cleaning out my clothessss, jussst got sssome ssshirtsss in the clossset"

"Fair enough...fair enough," he said mostly to himself as he pushed the now empty carton neatly to the left of the fridge. He wondered momentarily about how he would drink his meals by the next change...the straws were difficult enough now...he prayed that he would never have to lap it up out of a bowl.
He crutches his way back to his backpack and grinned at Victor, "Alright, cool...I don't have much though, just a coupl'a pairs of shorts...but yeah, thanks again man."

"Not a problem Tommy, we all need a placsse to ssssleep." Victor sat back on his limbs, moving back out of the way so Tommy could put things were he wanted. "If you want sssome more ssshortss or clothing you can rummage though that boxss, probably tomorrow I'll put it out in front of the duplexss with a 'Free for the taking' sssign"

"Yeah, alright...think I'll do that," he said as he crutched himself around, putting away his few meager possessions into one drawer. I hardly filled up a quarter of it. As Tommy pulled out the pictures of himself and family he just stood staring at them for a long ten seconds. With a sigh, he decided against putting them into the drawer and just zipped them back up in his bag.
"Hmm? Oh, yeah sure...I think I'll do that...after I get some sleep though." He looked out the window, wincing against the bright sun, "goddamn, it's late though..." he muttered.
