Arashi got up to pay then began the walk back to the training ground. Her mind a little preoccupied as she mulled over some personal matters. Despite not having much of a social life things had a habit of getting snarled up rather frequently for her thanks to meddle some family and superiors.

Kugen stood and followed Arashi, salmming his hands into his pockets and staring at the ground. When they reached the training grounds again, he stopped near the center and waited for Arashi-sensei to give him some kind of instruction.

Arashi was a little disappointed to see Kugen looking so dejected right after the break but kept it to herself. It would take time and patience to break him out of his shell but she felt certain it would be worth the effort.

She walked into the center of the arena without speaking and removed a small stack of papers from her vest. She set eight of them around her in a circle, one in each of the four directions and in between. They were not specially treated to respond to chakra though the rest in the stack were. She had grown out of needing those along with her Chunnin vest.

Taking a moment to focus she closed her eyes briefly then opened them. It didn’t take her long to focus anymore, it came almost as naturally as breathing to her. Without making any hand seals she focused and each of the papers smoked for a split second. Inscribed on each was a single kanji, strength, endurance, obedience, loyalty, courage, wisdom, sacrifice and silence. They were the principles on which shinobi was built and what was expected of every nin. It was a neat bit of chakra control when done slowly and flatly remarkable at the speed with which Arashi executed it.

Kugen raised an eyebrow as Arashi placed the pieces of paper around her. He watched as she effortlessly gathered her chakra and made the symbols appear. Noting the skill it took to perform this skill so easily, Kugen crossed his arms. He looked back up at Arashi. "The eight principles..?" He questioned Arashi-sensei a bit hesitantly.

"Yes Kugen, I'm glade you remember them. These are the pillars on which I've built my life." Arashi gestured to them then picked them up and put them in one of the many pockets in her vest.

"I hope to teach you the control necessary to duplicate this particular feat yourself. Come stand beside me please." She said, not expanding on her first comment.

Kugen uncrossed his arms and walked over to stand next to Arashi. He couldn't help but notice that he had built his life around slightly different principles than Arashi-sensei's.

"Chakra is a combination of the energy of your mind and body concentrated and focused by your will into a use able form. Chakras are also the name given to the eight major 'gathering points' of energy or 'gates' in your body. This energy flows through your body and is just as important to it as the blood in your veins and the air you breathe. Without it you will die." Arashi could remember her teacher drilling those facts into her head as a punishment for not being able to keep up with the class when it came to the basic ninjutsu they were learning at the time. Nothing had ever come easily to her but it had made her stronger.

"To effectively utilize it you must not simply be able to force it to conform to your will. You must know how much or how little you need to achieve the effect you desire and be able to control how much of it you release. This is not a simple thing and must become instinctive. It will be a rare moment where you will have enough time to calculate this consciously in combat." Even some Chunins never really mastered chakra control but they were not her students. She would never even consider letting a Gennin take the test half cocked like that.

"Still, awareness and control come first. Sit down please."

((sorry, I can only stay on till 8 (on the east coast)...I have oober-homework... crying but I'll try to post one more time before I leave))

Kugen stared at Arashi a little wide eyed. Chakra control was something he needed to work on. For his kekkei genkai to be succesful, the user had to have precise chakra control. Even though Kugen had a disadvantage, he wasn't perfect with chakra control to begin with either. A successful ninja would be able to control their chakra and the kekkei genkai regardless of any disadvantage. He sat down when Arashi-sensei instucted him to, he was curious to say the least...hopefully this exercise would be able to give him more chakra control over his kekkei genkai.

"Hold this paper in the palm of your hand, its been specially treated to respond to chakra. Concentrate on the feeling of it moving through your body and then focus it into the palm of your hand. If you are successful, the paper will become scorched or burned." Arashi held one of the treated papers out. A normal one wouldn't respond to chakra well.

Kugen held the piece of paper in his right hand and stared at it for a moment. He then held up his left middle and index fingers and closed his eyes, trying to concentrate his chakra into his hand. It didn't exactly worj for the first few moments, but eventually he was able to burn a hole in the middle of the paper with four light burns where his index and middle fingers were touching the paper. Since he had open vents in his hands, chakra flowed more freely through his middle and index fingers, he just hoped that Arashi didn't notice enough to ask questions...he wrapped his hands for a reason.

"Alright, as you can see the paper burns rather easily. This time I want you to try and incinerate it totally with just chakara." Arashi smiled a bit, these were the easiest parts of the training.

Kugen rolled his eyes a little, not exactly pleased with the fact that he hadn't been able to do it right the first time. he focused his chakra again, having gotten a sense for it already, it was a little easier this time. He quickly forced his chakra to his hand, if his eyes had been open, they would have clouded over slightly, this was custom to his bloodline...but he hardly noticed that unless he were to look in a mirror. The paper actually caught fire in the middle this time, showing his pure talent...however, talent doesn't make you an expert and the fire quickly burned out, leaving the edges of the paper unscathed. Kugen opened his eyes and glowered at the fragments of paper still left in his hand.

((I gotta go, I'm already a half hour past my deadline sweatdrop ...I'll try to get a post in before I go to bed...))

((its okay, no rush just reply when you can))

"Good, try for as long as it takes to get it right. Don't rush unnecessarily, this is as much about feeling what you’re doing as getting it right." Arashi handed Kugen a few more of the papers so he could work at his own pace. Once he gained control enough to release larger amount of chakra they would begin work on releasing small ones. It was much harder, require a great deal of precision to achieve the proper effect.

Kugen took one of the pieces of paper and tried it again, this time trying to hold the chakra there longer, but he was unsuccessful again. Kugen burnt his way through several pieces of paper before he was finally able to get it right.

"Good, now try to scorch a circle in the middle without burning all the way through the paper." Arashi handed him another small stack of the papers.
