"The nose injury is from when Isskio here bit him to wake him up. He got drunk last night at the Fort Hatching feast, and she couldn't get him to pay attention to the pot. Then he left the poor thing in the pot while it was hatching, and so Nimakio came out furious. And he attacked the first thing his little flitty eyes saw, Kya's hand."
Ray says this with a perfectly straight face. Well. Okay, it's not perfect, but it's mostly straight.

Here I was, thinking I was going to get a delightful new friend to help out with things like finding people and sending messages. But she's already given out all of the eggs... and even then, most of them should have hatched by now. I think one of the girls at Fort has a gold who's due to rise in a while, perhaps she can give you an egg."

Ray rolls her eyes at Kya. He's such a dope when there's a new pretty face! "Flits don't sit still long enough for one to properly study them," she says with a amused expression. "About all we know is that they are wonderful companions and damned useful at times. Isskio still surprises me from time to time."

Kya scratches the little blue's eyeridges. "He'll be awake in an hour, chewing my fingers off," he assures Myyth. "His name is Nimakio. The 'N' from Nakoreth, the 'mak' from my name, K'makin, and the 'kio' from his mother's name, Isskio. Well, there's an "I" in there too, because ... well, I don't know. Nakoreth suggested it though and it seemed rather catchy."
