ooc: I'm going to take a small hiatus from the RP thread... I want to get a few things for the story worked out in my head before continuing. Also, I'm going to lock the thread for the Thanksgiving break on Tuesday... I know for a fact I won't be near a computer for the entire time, and I don't want people who have to be gone for Thanksgiving to get left behind... RPing will resume as usual probably Sunday or Monday. I hope no one is too offended or aggravated by this, but its something that I felt was the proper thing to do. I'm sorry for my absence from the RP thread, but theres some things that I want to get worked out first. I've been reading Frank Verderosa's FFVII Internet Series Fanfic for inspiration, and I think I've got some interesting ideas for the RP. Also, once we've finished this RP, I've given thought to creating a sequel. Just thought I'd keep you up to date.

ooc: That sounds cool. By the way, where is Frank's stuff? I never finished it, and I couldn't find it once his site went down.

Smacking the punching bag, Yuffie coughed up a storm as it sprayed a thick cloud of its powder stuffing into the air.

"Go-*cough*-d, d*cough*am pie*cough*ce of *cough shi*cough*t!" She sputtered through the suffocating cloud. Having locked herself in the sound-proofed, trap ridden, training room as usual, she continued to barrage the beaten old punching bag in a fit of anger. "Why-" she began through more coughs as the dust settled,"... s**t-head."

The young Kisaragi couldn't take it anymore. Goddamn Gohdo, what a pompous s**t-head. "Getting drunk, and dating boys for whom you don't care" my a**! The teen mentally fumed. "I've never been drunk!"

An over-sized shuriken pierced deep into one of the large targets on the wall. As she watched the straw and sand trickle out of it, she couldn't help but think of how boring this was.

"I'm not getting any venting done at all."

Tossing a black leather jacket that stopped rather short of her midriff, she snagged a jug of sake as she left the house. Leaves rustling as she ran along the woods, dodging obstacles as they materialized out of the darkness, the rustle of the white fur collar around her neck and ears kept away the falling snow. The icy wind and frigid air sent needles of soreness through her muscles as she forced herself to speedily travel the path she had once seen from the vantage point of a random stranger's shoulder. Stopping to eliminate a random monster, she remembered the creep of a Don that had abducted her, and the exponential amount by which her escape skills improved after that experience. Smirking as she passed through the mountain, she reached the spot where her and that Turk had been taken to await their comrades.

The crunch of snow beneath her as she carelessly dropped onto the ground registered nowhere near as much as the cold sensation further assailing her body. Though she consciously did not care, her frame was shaken by an invoulentary series of shivers, protesting the unecessary exposure. Her black, metal-studded short shorts and usual forest green top were not exactly best suited for the conditions.

Popping the top off of the sake container, she produced a small dish for sipping sake, and poured a bit for herself, silently tasting it. I don't see why I'm stuck here. I want to leave, go on another adventure, but Gohdo won't let me. Why does he expect me to be calm and at rest if he takes away the excitement I need? I hate being his tool, and he knows it. She sighed into the wind, then poured herself a little more alcohol. I should just disappear on him. That would piss him off, but I would need an excuse. Aw man, why can't someone just come trying to kill me so that I can say "I was fleeing for the town's safety"? Ew, what if it was someone like that Heidigger, or Corneo, or Palmer. Another shiver ran down her spine, this one induced by memories rather than the present. Too bad there aren't any hotties out there that are looking for a girl to kidnap. Someone who'd know how to party, joke, relax, and have fun. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice the icy chill as she stretched out and laid herself on the snowy ground. Hmm, maybe like that Reno...

... Wait. YUFFIE KISARAGI WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?!?! She mentally screamed at herself. You're just damned desperate for adventure, that's all. Ugh. She angrily grabbed another helping of sake. Seriously, Reno? UGGGGH! YUCK! The guys got no class, he's a slob, he's obnoxious,.... eeeeewwww! The thoughts scampered through her brain, before she drifted off again, this time staring at the stars.

OOC: I was wondering...don't we need someone to fill in Vincent?

IC:

Tifa couldn't help but laugh out loud at Cloud's comment.

"You know, an easier way to block that," she explained to him, motioning her arms to show a visual explanation, "is to not go against the force, but to catch it."

Explaining to Cloud Strife how to block properly in a sparring session was a bit odd for her as she had always seen him so focused on combat before, but she remembered her stay in Wutai with Yuffie a year earlier her own session on how to throw kunai. That was somewhat close to a nightmare session.

She began to approach him slowly, "Kind of like..."

Then with most of the speed that she could muster, she rushed at him, throwing a punch. Out of a reaction, Cloud had stepped out of the way, catching her wrist in the process. Tifa stopped as soon as he did lest make both of them lose balance and fall, which would have been a bit awkward considering.

"Like that," she finished. "You just follow the angle of my punch or kick and catch it."

Cloud had stared at her quizzically, a first real good look at his face since he had suddenly appeared in front of her bar one day. Fighting back down her emotions, Tifa looked away from him as he dropped her arm and brushed back a stray lock of hair back into place.

She had gotten over this stage, right? Tifa kept on repeating this over and over again in her head. She was over it, right?

So why the hell was it so hard to tell him the truth? That she had been worried about him ever since AVALANCHE went their separate ways, that Aeris was now just a memory to live on forward for not in the past, that she...loved him?

As the awkward silence lingered on between the childhood friends, luckily, footsteps caught her ears and her attention diverted.

"...Did I accidentally unlocked the door?" she murmured to herself as she rushed out the back room.

ooc: I'm going to push the Turk/Yuffie part ahead a little bit....

*Reno shook the cold snow off of his jacket irritably. They had arrived in Wutai the previous day and had not been able to obtain much information about Yuffie. It was clear that she enjoyed the nightlife, but other than that he had not been able to find her himself. He had delegated to Elena the task of coaxing information from the Wutai Palace guards; she was much more "equipped" for that sort of work than he himself was. He had assigned to Rude the responsibility of questioning various nightclub owners and frequenters about information on Yuffie; Rude was suprisingly able to act nonchalant when he wanted to. Reno himself had decided to ask the thugs and crooks of Wutai for information on Yuffie's daily habits; thieves and crooks tended to keep their eyes open more than ordinary law abiding citizens. Reno's intuitions had paid off as usual. A dodgy looking man had told Reno that he had seen Yuffie run off to Da Chao for hours on end... after some "persuasion." Reno was hardly suprised at this information. A pest though she was, Yuffie took her training seriously, especially when it came to materia. He had, therefore, decided to make a little trek up Da Chao in hopes of finding her, but wasn't getting his hopes up. He shivered slightly and drew his coat around him tighter. He just hoped that they would be able to kidnap the pest quickly and get the job done with. He could already see all the gil that they were getting. With a grin, Reno trudged on.*

ooc: I'll let you decide whether or not you want Yuffie to get spotted right away or not, Kaede.

*After stoping Tifa's attack, and letting go of her wrist, Cloud stands there, confused.*

Why did she suddenly look away? and why isnt she talking anymore? Maybe she is preparing for another attack... Okay, watch for it, be ready, and catch it this time...

*Not hearing the footsteps due to his thinking, Cloud raised an eyebrow as Tifa suddenly just took off out of the room.*

Cloud: Hey, wait? What's wrong?

*Then after hearing her say something about maybe unlocking the door, he realized there might be an intruder. He quickly ran over to his sword and picked it up. Cloud then turned to the door and ran out, ready incase a thief was inside.*

Rude walked out of the fifth nightclub he went to, pushing up his sunglasses for what had seemed to be the millionth time. He gained some interesting insight on Wutai night life, much different than what it was two years prior. From what he learned, Yuffie Kisaragi was quite the party girl, though try to sneek in a hit and you would be down on the floor. The descriptions were numerous and scattered; nothing seemed to connect. The only things that did was that she was the typical teenager, and Godo Kisaragi often had to drag her back home if she stayed at the nightclubs too late.

Well, that's not really interesting, he thought to himself as he looked down at his watch to see what was the next place to stop by. Luckily, nobody seemed notice that he was a Turk, or didn't seem to care. A lot of the owners thought he was looking for a job as a bouncer, but Rude didn't blame them. He looked menacingly cold enough and he easily played the part.

Clicking on another button, Rude switched to see what time it was. He, Reno, and Elena were to meet again at the inn in a few hours to discuss whatever information that they were able to gather and what steps to take to complete the job. But the gut feeling of doubt still could not go away. Rude frowned, shaking his mind off of these thoughts and continued to focus on their assignment.

It wasn't like him to think otherwise.

OOC: I'm kind of waiting for Kaede to respond as Red to continue on as Tifa, and uh...I guess either Gwyn or Kaede to continue on with Rude 3nodding

ooc: Alright... here's Reeve.

bic: *Reeve stood on the deck of the Highwind, letting the breeze blow through his hair. His meeting with Mayor Shelton had gone very smoothly. Out of all of the politicians in the world, Shelton was his favorite. He was a good, honest mayor that stuck up for the rights of the citizens of Corel and helped his city progress. Reeve and Barret both did everything in their power to help him. Reeve stumbled as the Highwind unexepectedly started descending. Reeve looked down and saw the resort town of Costa del Sol growing larger below them. With a grin Reeve started towards the exit hatch of the airship. They were down in no time, and Reeve stepped out. He took a deep breath of the ocean air. It felt rejuvinating. No wonder this town was such a prime resort town. He had only been here a few times in his life, as it held no political significance and Reeve wasn't exactly the "vacation" type. As Reeve entered the town he immediatly saw Tifa's bar. He was impressed. Tifa had managed to get very good premises. As he drew near he noticed someone he was not expecting to see inside the bar. He entered with a wide grin as he hailed his friends.*

"Hi! Wow... its great to see you guys again. Its been so long... how are you guys? I was wondering if you wanted to come over to Barret's house for a little reunion. Cid's outside of town waiting in the Highwind right now."
PostPosted: Thu Dec 09, 2004 7:23 am

Having seen the entire incident from a few feet into the bar, Red smiled, bemused. It had been a while since he had seen Tifa, but she appeared to be as fit as ever, if not a bit bored by the lack of adventure and excitement. A slight gleam of sweat on her brow was the only indication of the attempt at a sparring session she had just had with Cloud.

Thinking of the devil, he soon came sprinting after Tifa, solemn expression marking his face, hand grasped tightly around the sword on his back.

"I'm sorry for being remiss... I heard a crash, so I thought you might be in trouble, but it appears as though everything is in order. My apologies for not sending you propper notice of my visit, but I came on an impulse." Eyes trained on Cloud, he looke back to Tifa, then addressed the two. "There are a few matters that have come to my attention as of late, but it appears as though my original interpretations of them may not be correct. Please, if there is any way I can help with the business for today, let me know. I'll explain the rest later." He bowed his head humbly to his old comrads in arms.

Great, just great. Perfectly my luck that the guards were... Ugh. Elena mentally groaned. Before she had even gotten the chance to approach they Kisaragi residence guards, she had hidden in the shrubs, only to discover that they weren't your average guards. Well they were, but...

I was not expecting queer eye for Wutai to be the resident guards!

As she crouched in the bushes, she was relieved to find out though, that the two men shared with one another an extreme love of gossip. "Did you hear what Yuffie..." seemed to be one of the most common phrases coming out of their mouthes, so Elena was not too displeased.

Interesting, she thought to herself, as more and more information about the young Kisaragi spilled forth from the guard's lips. Yuffie seemed to be quite the rebeliious clubber of a young teen. While she still trains rather vigorously, but has been clashing violently against her father since the defeat of Sephiroth.

Well, at least I got that much, she sighed to herself, running her fingers through the blonde silken strands upon her shoulder. Now where were we supposed to meet up?

((Disclaimer: I hold no grudges against homosexual/no bias against them - In fact I have several friends that are homosexual.))

Still lying on her back, arms crossed behind her head, the young ninja let out an exasperated sigh.

This... This is odd. I mean, no. Gah!! Forget it! It's just some weird way of redirecting my frustrations with Gohdo. Yes! That's it! Ugh. He's such a jerk!

...Well at least Reno's not a spikey-headed jerk.

SHUT UP!!! Lifestream, SHUT UP ALREADY!

The poor young ninja mentally screamed. She tried to shift, turn over, and froze.
Well, not really, you see, her arms and limbs were somewhat frozen from the cold already - she had only just realized it.

Ooooh Baahaaamuuuuuuut! She mentally wailed, wincing as she tried to get her numb arms to move. Even her face seemed pained by the cold. Her legs were completely out of the question by this point, almost completely covered by snow. Craap, craaaaaap, craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap!

"Gaia, this sucks," She half-chattered, half-muttered. After a little while, her arms were finally out from under her head, but now a new problem presented itself - her arms rested on her chest, defrosting, but her head was now freezing in the snowy-icey-slush.

((Just trying to be realistic here, seeing as how she had been lying on the snow motionless and deep in thought for quite some time now.))

Reno narrowed his eyes menacingly as he trudged on through the snow. He was just about to go back to the inn and see if Elena or Rude had had any better luck when he something thrashing around to his right. He raised his eyebrows and slipped out his nightstick, just in case a monster lay in wait for him. As he neared the source of the disturbance, his jaw dropped in disbelief.

"Yuffie?!" He exclaimed with surprise.

His heart almost burst it was pumping so fast. Should he just nab her here, or should he try and persuade her to follow him? Well, she looked to be almost freezing to death, and she was absolutely no good to him dead. Reno shook his head and grabbed ahold of her arms and heaved her up.

"So... what brings you here?" He asked, trying to retain his casual yet rascally demeanor. He couldn't make her suspect anything...

OOC: Wait....it snows in Wutai? eek (I thought it was a summery-like place....agh, nevermind, my head hurts from finals...)

IC:

"Red! Reeve!"

Tifa ran over to their feline friend, giving him a big hug, and then another one to Reeve. Their arrival gave her a moment of distraction, to forget worrying, to be happy, and to become a different person than who she was a few minutes ago.

"It's been so long, two years, right? How have you all been doing?" she asked the two of them.

I was wondering if you wanted to come over to Barret's house for a little reunion. Cid's outside of town waiting in the Highwind right now.

The two had said their comments at the same time that it was a bit hard to understand them. Tifa just laughed, honestly happy to see them. She looked down at her watch. It read 9:00.

"Well, the bar doesn't open for about another hour, but I don't think it'll be busy today," she said to them, looking back up and smiling. "I don't think that the customers would mind if I closed shop for today, right Cloud?"

She turned around to the spiky blonde, who simply just nodded...a bit dumbfoundedly. She then turned back to Reeve and Red XIII.

"Just let us get our stuff ready and all," she told them. "And have a seat. I'll be done in a jiffy. Oh, and if you need anything to eat or drink, help yourselves."

And with that, she ran upstairs to her room, leaving the three to themselves.

ooc: Grrr.... lost my post stressed scream crying sorry if this one seems a little subpar, but the other one was really good! Also to Ayame- well, Wutai is to the north... lets just say that its sorta wintertime. Also it would snow more on Da Chao because of the elevation.

bic:

Reeve looked slightly embarrased as Tifa hugged him. He returned it nonetheless, but still felt akward. The simple fact was that he had never really gotten used to being in actual contact with his friends. When he had been controlling Cait, the whole thing had seemed like a game. The battles never presented any danger to him. The others repeatedly risked their own lives and saved each others many times during their various encounters with monsters, but Reeve had sat comfortably in his office remote controlling Cait. He never really felt brave or scared. Sure, he had helped the others multiple times, but he had never really gotten to know them. He had never even been in contact with them. The first time he had seen the members of Avalanche was in the Shinra Headquarters when Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aeris, and Red were being brought to President Shinra. Ironically, this sight had filled him with mixed emotions. He had hated them for the devastation they had caused to Midgar... for the lives they had taken. Reeve had lost many friends in the bombings of Reactors 1 and 5. But on the other hand he felt strange sympathy for them. He knew deep inside that what they were doing was right on some level. He knew that Shinra was evil. But what really burned the memory in his mind was the look of furious determination in Cloud's eyes. When he was later assigned to create a robot that could infiltrate their group so that Shinra could have a spy, he was secretly estatic. It was like a dream for him. He could support the people of Midgar, while at the same time fight the evil of Shinra. He had modeled Cait Sith after a small stuffed doll that one of the female employees kept on her desk. He incorporated various quirks in his design, such as a fortune telling device that shot out small slips of paper with random fortune cookie-like proverbs on them. He had thought Cait's various "fortune telling" devices funny, though he still wasn't quite sure what drove him to include them. It was also necessary to include an AI function for when he wasn't able to control Cait directly. At first everything went according to plan. He relayed the information that he recieved to the Heads of Office in board meetings, while keeping regular contact with Avalanche. But he soon grew restless. He had come to regard the members of Avalanche as his friends, better friends than any he had. When they found out he was a spy, he was devastated. He couldn't let this happen, he just couldn't. And not just because he was Shinra's link to Avalanche. He needed it. It was like an obscure sort of voyeurism. It was an addiction. He had to think of some way to stay in their group. That was when someone else did it for him. Tseng said that they had kidnapped a girl named Marlene, Barret's daughter. Reeve was relieved, but felt immensely guilty. He told them that he had Marlene, and they very begrudgingly allowed him to stay. After this he just tried to act as if nothing was out of the ordinary. From time to time, he would get little taunts from other important employees about Avalanche, but he shrugged them off. As Reeve thought of all this, he grew sullen and looked morose. Suddenly aware of his surroundings again, Reeve composed himself quickly and brought up a change of subject.

"Uh... well most everyone should be there," Reeve said to Tifa, and began counting off the member's of Avalanche. "Barret, Cid, You and Cloud, Red of course, myself, and possibly Vincent. Thats just leaving out Yuffie... and Aeris.." Reeve added Aeris in a sad small voice and grew red suddenly. He had tried not to bring up Aeris. He knew that Cloud and Tifa were probably the two most affected by it along with Elmyra. Reeve had tried not to bring up the past too much at all, since he was still rather ashamed of his behavior during the whole incident. He looked down at the ground.

"I...I'm sorry... I didn't mean to..." Reeve trailed off and grew silent again, thouroughly embarrased and remorseful.

ooc: Well... I guess thats about as good as my last one. I went into more detail about his account of the events of FFVII. I always thought that Reeve was a very interesting character, as he was something of a double traitor. I'll add something for Vincent tomorrow, hopefully.
