Since Keanu had been quiet for most of the conversation Chath nearly jumped when he finally spoke up. He gave a wry smile and noded his head relieved. "Yah sure, if you don't mind." he continued thining back to his other essay he still had to write. He wondered if he would have to read that one allowed too.

He wondered what Keanu would say since...well he gave a brief glance at all their notes. Nothing really well planned had been written. Perhaps the boy would go with the flow and go from memory?

Phew. Subconsciously Paxton let out a deep breath he had been holding in. Why was he nervous? He knew he wasn't all that bad, certainly not a selfish brat. And again it was back to notes---

The bird listened tentatively. So body magic was enhancing your abilities. Paxton wasn't sure what he had been expecting, but it wasn't anything like that. This was certainly a most pleasant surprise, maybe someday he would be able to withstand one Keanu's lung-crushing hugs! ...Using magic too keep himself safe wasn't really selfish. Nobody knew just how hard Keanu squeezed.

Another sigh of relief and a nod, he was done, done! ...Oh defiantly he would think on everything he had learned today...just at home...when Thomas couldn't interrupt his thoughts.

Thomas seated himself once more and arranged a few papers in front of him. As the students discussed which of their groups would be the ones to present he readied himself to take notes on their performance and finding. The fancy feather-quil lifted up out of the ink bottle, tapping itself neatly on the glass rim before hovering over the paper, ready to take notes. Thomas crossed his fingers in front of him and leaned his chin lightly against them.

His eyes slowly moved to Keanu as the boy volenteered to go first. He simply nodded over to the boy, his que to begin.

First to go, wonderful. That'd mean less time waiting around.

"Well, we found out that we have a lot that's not similar about us." Which was to be predicted, they where different people afterall. "But we did find that all three of us have a genuine wish to protect people we care about no matter what the cost." Perhaps he'd gone a bit too far there, but it was true enough in his mind. "A strong enogh will to be able to stand up for what matters is matters or needs to be done is what we conclude to be a factor in being a spirit." Ok, so they had said they didn't know if they all had a strong will, but it SOUNDED good. And tossing it in would probably help more than hurt.

Well, even if the teacher tried to tell him he was completely wrong, being the stubborn thing he was he'd challenge the teacher. He was supposed spirited afterall right?

Earako listened attentively as Keanu spoke. In part, because she was interested in what her friend had to say, but largely because she wanted some idea of what she should say when it came to be her turn. Keanu was on her 'admired' list, which meant whatever he did must be right.

Well, that sure sounded like her friend. He was brave, and protective and good. She'd learned that first hand. Watching him, she was able to feel slightly less nervous about her own upcoming turn at speaking. He didn't seem scared at all, and maybe that meant it wasn't scary.

Or maybe it meant he was just really brave. Either way, she managed to settle her hands neatly in her lap, looking more calm than she had since the class started.

Chath listened to Keanu impressed by the way the kid was able to express the similarities between them all. Yah the will to protect people sounded perfect. He wished he had thought of it first and was abit envious. He also wondered what the teacher was going to say about it. He hoped Keanu did well.

Keir shook his dragon head and laid back down watching the teacher like a cat. The teacher made him nervous, it bothered him that the teacher seemed able to read minds.

That seemed to have gone well Ligeia thought to himself, giving Keanu a smile. Now he just hoped that the teacher thought the same. He looked down at the notes that he and Chath had made, curious if the teacher would want them to show the work that they had done. He supposed Mr. Barkhelm would tell them so he turned back to look up at the teacher a waited quietly.

Thomas nodded slowly to Keanu's presentation, his hands still folded in front of his mouth, "Indeed... just because you carry the same base magical type doesn't nessicarily mean that you and your fellows will like the same things or have the same goals in life. What makes those given the quality of soul different from the others is their selflessness. Their life is second to those they deem as their loved ones or innocents. They are the first into battle and often times the last off of it." He tipped his head to one side, "But they also have the tendancy to be brash... and because of this it's the one class that suffers the most losses of lives."

He scribbled something down on the paper in front of him, "Well done, Soul group. Keanu, you may be seated. Next up, Class of the mind."

Chath listened to the words that the teacher said, joted a few notes down and then then let a sigh of relief slip through his lips quietly. Keanu did well, that was a relief. Not that he didn't think he did well he jsut wasn't too sure about the teacher. That guy gave him the willies. He wondered which group was next hoping to hear Earako speak next, though Paxton's persentation should also be interesting.

Poor guy was stuck with a teacher for a partner, meaning he had to come up with all the ideas himesef.

Keanu listened to the appraisal of his speech in silence. It had been fairly obvious that things were varied, but this just cemented it. In some ways it was good and bad. It meant that not everyone would want to help him save people, but at the same time... sometimes more people would get in the way. And it was nice to think you were different. That whole 'unique' factor.

At the mention of how death seemed to follow the spirits didn't shake him either. Dath was something you had to come to terms with if you where going to run to someones rescue. If you where too afraid to face it how could you jump in the path of an attack and deflect it to save a life? It was something he had to be willing to face head on.

Of course then he was excused to sit down. So with that he headed back to his seat and waited for the next speech. Running a hand over the top of Ymir's face and scratching at the harder scales a bit. He'd been really good that class. Keanu would have to try to get Raja to give Ymir a treat when they got home.

Ligeia got his things together, thanking both Chath and Keanu for the group before he moved back down to sit on his seat giving Vorel a rest at being his chair. Not that it would seem that the Frost Dragon had much minded this. He instead drifted over and sat down next to his partner once again. Before he started to sniff and bite at the owl's bag, he had treats in there and Vorel wanted one.

Ligeia patted him on the head, "After class." He murmured then set to making notes of what the teacher had told them after their presentation. They had done well in their work, though listening to his words there was a moment of worry at the part that said 'it's the one class that suffers the most losses of lives' but then shook his head as he wrote it down. To take the suffering on themselves was a good thing wasn't it? That meant they were taking it from someone else, would sacrificing your own life for someone elses be worth it?

He didn't want to find out the hard way any time soon but it was something to think about.

Earako shifted nervously while the teacher spoke, knowing all too well that she might have to be next. And then they were next, and that made it all the worse. But Keanu had done it. And she was a lady. A lady must... must what? A lady must entertain, and speaking in front of a class was rather like entertaining.

Making a point of not looking at the teacher, she took a deep breath before beginning to speak.

"We think some of the reason we are of the mind is because of what we are not." Her voice, usually soft and whispery, was lifted so that the rest of the class could hear, but there was still no way for it to be called anything but quiet. "We are not very physical, and we lack the protective instinct of the spirit. Which isn't to say we can't love people. We just express it differently.

She was getting off track.

"What we are good at is seeing the world. We express it in different ways, but we are both very focused. We are good at understanding how things work, and if we are interested in something, we're good at teaching ourselves about that subject. And with a subject that does interest us, we will learn everything we can. Like me, with sewing."

She stopped, taking another slow breath to calm herself. "Thank you for listening."

Again Thomas had the pen working along the paper as he watched the speech. Again he nodded his approval and made a motion for the girl to take her seat. "Precicely. Those of the mind not only have an uncanny ability to see the detail of something, see the interworkings and learn just how something works but they crave to know more and more. Even something as silly as sewing. How do you patch that rip just right, how did the fabric look before? That sort of thing. The more you know about how something works, the more you can manipulate and alter it."

He cleared his throat, "Those of the mind are normally fearful of what they cannot or will not understand. Battle is intimidating to them, they prefir to work in the back, figuring out strategy and the like... though if they hone their abilities there's little they cannot solve, few things they cannot alter or manipulate." He demonstrated by pointing to the pencil sharpener at the end of the room. It began to spin on its own. "Simple little things to the more complex."

He glanced back to the class, "Finally- Paxton. Make your presentation."

Nodding half in politeness to the presenter and half in to keep himself awake and alert while others were speaking, Paxton watched the first of his classmates go. They both did a good job. At least they clearly explained to the best of the abilities, why they had each gotten what they had. Keanu was so confident when he was speaking, it was so typical that it made Paxton smile. What was even more adorable, however, was Earako and her small presentation. Poor thing, seemed so nervous and high strung...it was actually rather cute.

"Hmmn?" The lovebird lifted his head from where it had been resting on his hand. Damn, he should have known better. Oh well, it was only fair, everyone else took a turn. Now it was his. With a sloppy pat of Marigold's head, the boy stood up and made his way to the front of the class.

Holding his sheet of notes in front of him, Paxton's eyes wandered to the various bits of information that were important. "Riight--So body. I think Mr. Barkhelm summed it up nicely when he said, quote, 'You are in control of nothing else -but- your body boy'. "

At this point Paxton paused and made eye contact with the class. "In essence, I'm more physically in tune with my body and express myself that way. It's not that I lack the abilities of mind or spirit, it is simply, they are weak," He frowned slightly as he continued. "I lack the ability to see the logic behind things and don't have that instinctual nature of selflessness that the spirit group does....soo, yeah."

"Hmm...", Thom hid his expression well, his eyes locked on the back of Paxton's head as he gave his speech. No doubt the lovebird would still feel their sharp gaze on him. Once his speach was finished the teacher motioned him back to his seat and stood himself up from his own.

"The element of the body is one that can be played upon in many ways. You believe in the ability of what you know to be true. Never seeking further knowlege beyond what you can understand or what you believe to be true. Those of the body can often be seen as the most stable or neutral ones though... they do have the tendancy to fall into temptation the easiest. Either through pleasure or inhancing their own physical abilities. They are formatable fighters though, difficult to stirr mentally or spiritually."

He took a deep breath and lifted a hand. A bit of chalk lifted up towards the board behind him, "Your homework for the night is to write a short paper on the three elements. No more than a few sentances each, I want to see if you were paying attention and what you might speculate for each of the elements."

He turned and took his seat once more, "You are excused."
