Final Fantasy 7 was the best Final Fantasy for me.. The story was well thought and you could play it through 10 times and were able to find something new even after that... The characters were well done and there was a big variety among them.. I really love the game..

My favorite is Final Fantasy 7.
reasons being -
- It was SquareEnix's first attempt at 3D polygons (which they did a good job on for a first)
- They changed the music and took it off of the traditional constant Bass run with a very kick a** battle theme.
- The story was very well thought up, and in my opinion the best storyline.
- They made a movie of it ("Final Fantasy 7 : Advent Children", as well as "Last stand" (at least I think thats what it's called)) not every game has a movie to make it stand out.
- The characters were well drawn and played out in the game.
- because of FF7, Oversized swords became a must in all FF Flash animations.
and I just realised that I have a lot of reasons so i'll stop there.

Pingu_Da_Penguin3 My favorites are FF6 and FF7 and of course Chrono Trigger cool FF7 is a given most ppl like that... and chrono trigger i love everything bout it... the cutscenes, story, characters, battle system. FF6 just owns... Great characters, great battle system, started the esper system(i think...earliest game i can think of with the esper system) I just love it aha well as for the esper system.. it kinda depends on what you mean by esper.. if you mean a summon, then the first game to feature that would be final fantasy 3... unrealased in the us until just recently, but if you mean the idea of learning skills from the espers.. well yeah it's the first but i do have to abmit.. i really like 6 too... i mean to have an opera scean and still considered one of the greats, it has to be pretty awesome

Ravenmichiru All things about final Fantasy games will go here now current topics we're discussing are: Which is you personal favorite Final Fantasy. Please give as much reasoning to why it is your favorite as possible. Also, Chrono Trigger will count because it's on the Final Fanatsy Chronicals compilation for the PS One. (If you say Chrono though, you will have to add another actual FF) So here's my next question, to those that have played both the old (SNES and NES) Final fantasy's and the newer versions on the playstation, how do you feel about the differences between the two? Feel Free to add your own topics of course I just wanted to let people know what's already going on. My favorite game is probably VI with VII a close second. Despise X and X2. Worst story line I have ever heard. It leads to your next question, was the SNES/NES better than the PS/PS2? Game today are focusing on graphics. Graphics are nice, but an RPG's heart it it's story. I haven't played XII, but I hope it doesn't suffer from overstuffed graphics and no story.

Me, Ive practically played all the FF games and I love most of them. I'll just explain a bit bout each FF game, especially the snes FF games because i dont see much of those around and well they kinda own the Ps1 and 2 counterparts.
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was just plain horrible aha. Dont think many people played it but its just the worst game ive ever played.
FF4 was pretty good character wise. You don't get to choose a party as characters come and go from your party. Decent story line, comes with a few turns and twists.
FF5 is sweet for the class changes. Can level up your characters different ways and everyone can learn a large amount of techniques. Decent music and story line but it doesnt compare with its other FF counterparts
FF6 owned, and I dont care what anyone says. Great story, Love the characters(like Shadow, sabin, and Edgar) sweet esper system(learn different techniques from different espers), awsome music, and weird bosses(Ultros and Kefka), and just overall AWSOME
FF7 also owned sum major a**. Great Story between characters(I miss Aries crying ), materia system is majorly different from any game ive ever played and I hope they make another like that. Music owned. Only downside was the graphics as everyone noticed.
Final Fantasy Tactics is awsome. Great battle system. good variety of characters and classes. Best FF music out of them all. Sweet secret characters(like Cloud biggrin )
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is alright. Some people that just played the start of the game thought it has no story but indeed does it have a story line. Not as good a story as the other FF games, its pretty basic and is easy to understand. Not much to say with this, just alot of missions you can do and keeps you occupied even after the story has ended.
FF8 to FF10-2 not gunna comment because people said alot of these.
FF12 is different and alike at the same time from its FF counterparts. Certain aspects from most of the earlier FF games is put together in FF12. I heard the battle system is like FF11. Some music is from FF5 i believe. The liscence system is kind of similar to FF10 grid system. Its gutsy of them to do it like that but it turned out all right. Chrono Trigger just owned. Great story, Great characters, Really different battle system, and I like the time travelling. Awsome bosses also.
And finally.... FF6 and 7 were my favorite. As for some of my favorite characters starting from earliest are... Butz(just because of the name biggrin )Cecil , Kain, Locke, Shadow, Edgar, Sabin, RedXIII, Aries, Yuffie,Cloud, Vivi, Freya, Queena, Kimari, Lulu, Auron, Basch sweatdrop sweatdrop 4laugh 4laugh cool cool 3nodding 3nodding blaugh blaugh

I think its pretty universal, and im no different, FF7 is my ultimate favorite game. It wasnt the first rpg i ever played, i was playing games back when the atari was still around.. thats right, im that old.. the reason why it is so loved is because it had just about everything: current best graphics, kool arse characters and enough of them that ANYONE could relate to them, eye candy for all, good story line that didnt traill off too often but enough fun things to keep u from getting bored by the story, and the koolest baddie EVER! i will love sephiroth forever.. *has the AC action figure with his own black materia and even named a cat after him*
and i own FF7, 8, 9, 10, and 10-2, and i have played all of them but i have found that i dont dont remember anything about ff8, it has revolutionizing graphics for its time, but it was not rememberable in my opinion, even if the characters were kool (i loved Edea and Seifer). 9.. i honestly never played all the way though because i got bored with it.. the chibi thing was .... >_> yea.. and i really liked FF10 and FF10-2... 10.. i honestly loved the characters (especially auron) and i personally think the storyline was great, not as good as ff7 but still great... even if the ending sucked. i loved the graphics and being a woman, even though 10-2 was mainly eye candy for guys i thought it was super cute and just fun! and i liked how that depending on how much u work at it, u can get different endings and they all end up with a final conclusion as to what really happend in their world, because by the end of 10 i did have some questions.
i have never played ff11 because i am much against online games through consoles... to me its just weird and wrong.. if i wanted to play an online game i would use my high preformance computer which i do anyways. it just seems like a way of getting MORE money out of people who dont have much to begin with.. like me for example. (dont mistake the fact that im poor and have a high preformance comp that im not poor, i am, i just have a computer tech for a dad LOL)
i havent played FF12 yet, i have borrowed my friends game and really should play it. I did watch him though and it seems fun enough but he kinda felt shorted by it.. he was working and working and just playing along thinking the game would be a long time before it ended, he wasnt even that high a lvl i would presume and then BAM done and he was like O_O.. so i might feel a little let down by the game but i dont know until i play. as for the characters.... ........ some of them are ok (i love balthier) but Vaan... so not right... anywho.. thats just my.. ramblings on that..
also Dark Star 18 i love ur Edea gif in ur sig ^_^

FF 7 was a great game don't get me wrong, but I think that it's too over-rated. I played most of the game (not all though) and It seemed a bit lacking in the story, the whole thing with Sephiroth was just a bit over the top. My all time favorite though would have to be FF IX, it had an amazing story line with some good twists. FF XIII was just to mushy and to much about love. FF XII was anther worst. It barely has any story at all and the back stories are worse, don't get me wrong it is still a good game just not stacked up against all the other good FF games out there. wink

You should play FF XII soon. The fighting style's differen't that the other ff's. You would also find that upgrading a skill will be kind of the same as FFX.
