I know they've been said before, but... FIGHTING: Botan and Keiko. They kicked arse in the Maze Castle arc. Botan has limited powers and Keiko has none, so they resort to somewhat crude methods like baseball bats and the SODs. (Slaps of Doom.) I find it funny. Hiei and Kurama. They have somewhat similar fighting styles, I think (Kurama's more calculating, but neither is stupid, and both can be cruel.) Plus they are both extremely powerful so they can easily exterminate the target. Yusuke and Kuwabara. They're both street fighters, and they both enjoy fighting for fighting's sake. I think it would be funny to watch them pwn enemies together. Hiei and Kuwabara. I agree with Yuudai, they would compliment each other well because they are opposite species. Plus, they're both swordsmen, so a duel between the two of them and two opposing swordsmen would be interesting and hilarious. I can hear the insults flying now...! Shizuru and Keiko. Similar to Botan and Keiko, only Shizuru kicks more a**. ^^
COUPLES: Hiei and Kurama, if it's done right. If neither character is OOC and the relationship is set up under JUST the right circumstances, I'll go for it. Otherwise, just no. To be honest, one of the reasons I like this couple besides all the obvious reasons is because I can't see either guy with anyone, except MAYBE Hiei with Mukuro, below. Somehow, in a paradoxical manner, because neither guy is really the type to date, they seem to work together...or is it just me? ^^ Another reason I find it convincing is because they understand each other well. Both know the others' weaknesses and strengths, and while Kurama is much older than Hiei (depending upon your various theories about Hiei's age) I think that Hiei is experienced for his age, allowing the gap to be reduced to an extent. I don't know about any of that uke and seme terminology (never really got much into yaoi besides this pair and a few others) but I'm at a loss as to which one would be more dominant. Either way it's cliche, but I tend to lean toward Kurama being dominant over Hiei just because of his age and intelligence. I like to think that Hiei would put up a good fight. In all honesty, though, regarding everything I've said, I think the relationship would never be a fully committed one. I don't know if Hiei is capable of that. I think it's friends-with-benefits material at best. Another thing to consider when dealing with this couple is how demons feel about homosexuals. I think it's safe to assume that demons have prejudices, and it's never been clear whether they accept gay relationships openly or whether they reject them. On the one hand, it's possible that demons regard women demons only as ways to breed and would scoff at the idea of becoming what they would consider a slave to a woman's will in a relationship (not that that's what all relationships are made of, but it's easy to see how macho demons might confuse that). Maybe male demons consider relationships with other males to be more manly and less weak. Then again, they could have the viewpoint that love between male demons is wrong or more weakening than having a relationship with a woman. And most likely is that demons consider having any sort of relationship a weakness in the first place. At any rate, I'm not saying that Hiei and Kurama care about demon stereotypes, but it might be a factor in their relationship whether they care or not.
Mukuro and Hiei. I originally didn't like this pair, but having read most of the Three Kings arc in the manga, I like it more. I didn't know Mukuro was a sex slave (was that edited out of the anime?) and though it's a little cliche, it brings a lot to her character which was otherwise lacking. I also didn't like Mukuro because I thought she was ugly (shallow, I know. cry ) I don't think so anymore, at least not the way Yoshihiro Togashi draws her (I can't vouch for the anime version) and not after she derobed herself when Hiei was healing. That said something to me about her confidence, her inner secrets and her...well, affection for Hiei. She revealed to him one of her innermost secrets because she could relate to him and trust him. People argue that she shouldn't have looked into his memory without permission, and I agree, however, Hiei is an accomplished telepath, yes? I'm not saying that he's more so accomplished than she is (that's neither proved nor disproved) or that he's able to control this ability while unconscious, but is it possible that he allowed her to see? That he had finally had enough of hiding his life and wanted someone to know a tiny bit of the monster he had inside? Maybe I'm romanticizing the situation, but then again Hiei was, in a sense, reborn after fighting Shigure. He had basically given up on his will to live, saying that there was nothing left for him. He sacrificed his arm and nearly died, and was, in a way, reborn because of Mukuro, indebting him to her in more ways than one. Perhaps Hiei actually didn't mind that Mukuro looked into his past, perhaps he never knew, or perhaps when he realized what happened he didn't react because he knew that there was nothing to be done. Darn, now I'm all conflicted. rofl I think that if Hiei were to fall in love with someone it'd most likely be a girl (though he somewhat reveals a misogynistic quality a bit throughout the series...yet again, that might create a good twist to the relationship) who has been tormented and found power similar to the way he has, because he could relate to that. More importantly, though, and probably the main foundation for the Mukuro/Hiei pairing is that Hiei can respect her as an equal. Perhaps it doesn't seem like a big deal at first, but considering the amount of work most people have to do to gain his respect, let alone women, it's a pretty amazing feat for her.
Shizuru and Kurama. The reason I like this is due to the fact that Kurama is easily the most intelligent boy in the show and Shizuru is the most intelligent woman. They also both have similar outlooks and demeanors. Though, because they're so much alike, I think they might clash. *ponders*
Botan and Koenma. I know it's a bit trite and I also know that people claim to see implied Ayame and Koenma, but as far as I can remember Ayame's in the show like twice. Botan and Koenma have a lot in common, what with Spirit World and all. They also compliment each other well because they have similar senses of humor and personalities, at least in my opinion.
Hiei and Yusuke. A lot of the time I think this is really messed up, but then there are those days that I kind of think, "Yeah, I see it." (Especially when I remember that one doujinshi page where Hiei kisses Yusuke... heart ) They have a lot in common psychologically speaking; neither one has had a true father, both have never belonged in their given settings, and both have short tempers. Then again, they might conflict against each other like Kurama and Shizuru.
Yusuke and Keiko. It's almost so typical it's boring, yet a little sweet if you don't mind that kind of mush (which isn't really in abundance in YYH anyway, at least not until the end...) At the same time, though, there's a lot in this relationship I don't like. Mostly it's the cliche idea of a girl who slaps around the guy, whether he deserves it or not. (Someday, I'll write a story about spousal abuse featuring one of these couples, I swear.)
Kuwabara and Yukina. I think that between Kuwabara's honor and masculinity and Yukina's witty but polite personality, they compliment each other well. To me, that couple makes the most sense out of them all. I can see them being together in ten years, thirty, fifty and seventy. It's just sweet. biggrin They remind me of a lot of the married couples in anime/manga--the strong, macho man warrior and the housewife whose cooking is marvelous. (Sorry if that's stereotypical, but you have to admit it fits them pretty well.) My only qualm with that is that Yukina seems to be a lot smarter than she lets on. Then again, though, she could be the housewife whose cooking is marvelous and who humors her husband but is much more intelligent than he is. A lot of people don't agree that Yukina has feelings for Kuwabara in return, but I think the anime and manga show that she does. She responds to him, even if it's in a slightly ambiguous way--she never really says that he's her lover, nor does she turn him down. I think that she does like him, even if she thinks he's silly. Perhaps that even makes him attractive to her.
Sakyo and Shizuru, to an extent. They would have been perfect if Sakyo wasn't antisocial. (Figured that from when they said he used to torment animals as a child. I don't know if he could really be considered antisocial/psychopathic.) I think the villain angle works for him and Shizuru, but I also think that she is too...well, human (can't think of a better word...) to love someone who used to carve up live animals if he still has similar tendencies. Plus, the guy wanted to allow giant demons into the world, which I doubt Shizuru would have approved of, mainly because she understands that many demons eat humans or otherwise pray upon them.
(Sorry for the dreadfully long post, but this is a very interesting thread.)

Bokusenou Yousei_Rurichan WyndiWingfall Botan and Keiko also seem to work as a good team. 3nodding oh ya, you make a good point, i totally spaced that out of mind. They worked great in the episode with the insects 3nodding Then Botan became wimp. Botan just was a victim who the tantei had to save.. * sigh* Botan in the early eps... When she wasn't grabbed by someone so Yusuke, Kuwa, Kurama and Hiei could save her.. Ah... I miss the early eps Botan. In doubt, your friends are always there......Your right! Where'd her bat go?
Plus, she barely has anything to protect her. I mean, I know she's only the guide, but c'mon! D:
...Although they may "bite" at times.....

...Although they may "bite" at times..... yeah, it kinda annoys me that they killed her in Poltergeist Report. She was really well balanced in the early episodes. =( replying to InkMistress: I cannot say I agree anymore with you! That was an amazing post. My opinion? I don't like HieixMukuro. And I think I might be a bit prejudiced since I AM a Hiei fangirl PLUS I'm writing a Hiei x OC fan fic and I think my OC is absolutely perfect for him and they're just so damn cute together as...well...ANYTHING! Friends, lover, comrades, even enemies (in a sense) they're just amazing! But I'm getting off track. ;D LOVE the BotanxKeiko fighting couple. Eh...not so much a supporter of KeikoxYusuke, but I think its just because I don't really like Keiko in general. =/ ('Cept for above.) Yeah...but I'm keeping them in my fan fic, just because I think deep down that they are right for each other, no matter how much I hate to admit it. ShizuruxKurama is interesting, and I could see them just kinda hanging out a lot. XD YukinaxKuwabara FOREVER!!! ^^

The Reviver of Dead Threads is Here!!!!!!!!hahahaha
Hiei did let Mokuro see into his mind...but I think it's more like he thought he was going to die so he didn't really care. Also since he believed he was going to die his life flashed before his eyes.
I think it's weird how Mokuro teases Hiei like Kurama would OO I find there are similarities between Kurama and Mokuro..actually her personality is a bit like some Kurama with some Hiei..you know what I mean?
I didn't like Mokuro much at first either because the way she approached Hiei- too forward for me and she seemed desperate for his acceptance. Like she saw his pain and wanted to show him hers because she wanted someone to sympathize very badly. But now I am warming towards her as I think of how much she and Hiei could be happy.
But what did Hiei mean by "You know that's not why I stay". He said that to Mokuro during one of the last several eps...and I was like : ????

I don't know what he meant by that, actually, I'd have to re-watch very carefully and analytically. 3nodding
Kurama and Mukuro do tease Hiei in the same manner. It's pretty entertaining. Haha! No matter where that little fire koorime goes, he can't escape it. ; D

Yeah he said it like there was something keeping him there...like it was ..*cough sex cough* Though I don't know if Mokuro can even engage in that kind of thing....but he meant something by it...something questionable XD
Yes Hiei is just fun to tease.. Hehehe Such a cute little ruthless demon .

Hun, don't take this personally, but Hiei's not the kind to hesitate. He said it himself during his fight with Bui, and I'm sure on numerous other occasions, he's a very impatient fellow. And it's pretty much either Hiei kills you...or he doesn't. The only person I've seen escape Hiei when he's had his sword to them is Yusuke and Shigure (sp?). Oh and I guess Mukuro and Kurama but he wasn't out for their lives. He ACCIDENTALLY stabbed Kurama while trying to save Yusuke and the whole Mukuro match was just a goof because of the Tournament match-ups.
...but then again...as long as you're not a demon that would be a violation of his parole...
...
...(whisper whisper)
Well...Hiei's not happy but you're safe. : D
