"I am very sorry about Shagatsu and Omny. He seems happy though . . . isn't that what matters in the end?" She asked, putting her tea down, "I may have fallen for him, but that does not mean he has fallen for me. When I saw you . . . I knew it was my turn for the 'tradition' to continue. Tora, he is a very nice man and has an interesting way with horses." Iyasu giggled remembering the other day with Gigi, "But, I may have fallen for him, he may not have fallen for me."

"That's silly," Tora smiled. "You are a beautiful, graceful Geisha. How could no man fall for you?" she asked, then gasped, "You? T-The story was about you?!" she stuttered. "I don't understand. You two seem to get along so well," she said with a sad, shocked look on her face.

"Me? I hardly think I am beautiful, compared to my Onee-san and you! I am quite ordinary." She paused as her friend realized the real truth, "My father told me the legend, and I did not want to believe it. On some aspects, I do not believe it. I won't know if it is true or not . . . and in truth, I do not think I ever will. I think Kibakichi-san is very infatuated with you."

Tora blushed, then brushed the thought aside. "Couldn't be," she answered meakly. Tora sighed heavily. "Love, it's a complicated thing, isn't it?" she pouted. She rested her head on her hands and sighed again.

She watched Tora and ducked her brown orbs away. "Love is complicated to those who read into it too much." Iyasu replied softly, "If one could explain why they loved that one person, over everyone else out of the entire world, then they wouldn't be in love. To find a reason to love someone, is to have doubt in loving that person."

"Maybe you're right," she sighed, running her hands over her knees. "I still wish I could find someone though," she said, trying to add a smile.

"Tora, perhaps if you let yourself go . . . dive fully into everything else and let yourself forget . . . perhaps, someone might find you when you least aspect it?" She offered the advice, "That's what I do, every day . . . I put my heart into everything I do."

"Yes," she said sadly. "I try to do that, I really do," she pleaded, "Then when I see how Omny and Shagatsu are together, it makes me want love too."

"I know how you feel on that front . . ." She said meeting her eyes, "It hurts to see other couples . . . even animals together, grooming one another lovingly . . . it hurts very much."

"Silly, no?" Tora giggled slightly at her own feelings. She sighed and gave a sad smile to Iyasu. "Would you like more tea?" Tora asked.

"It is . . ." She joked looking down. "More tea would be lovely." Iyasu smiled warmly to Tora, always showing her optomism.

Tora poured Iyasu more tea, then warmed her own. "This has been a fine life I've had these past few months," she said sarcastically. "I send letters to my Mother often, and sometimes I have to lie to her. I just couldn't possibly tell her the truth! I know she'd worry about me not being happy. That was her biggest fear, to have me unhappy." Tora ralized how that sounded and corrected herself, "Not that I was spoiled or wasn't punished by any means, I was punished, believe me! My mother was my rock and helped me through things," she said with a sad smile.

"This life is not supposed to be easy. We are made to be precious dolls that relive the traditions of the past." Iyasu responded, "I can understand . . . it has not been easy for me either. I'm taking on another younger sister very soon and I've been kind of watching over the maiko and maids when Mother is not around, or when my Onee-san isn't. These girls are so scared . . ." She sighed, "The only time I ever feel that I am free is when I'm at the stables with the horses. That's how I would escape when I was at home."

"I know," Tora sighed with a smile on her lips. "Sometimes I wish I could go back to the days of youth where my only problem was what outfit I was going to dress my doll in," she giggled. "But then I'd have to live life over again and I wouldn't want that," Tora said honestly.

"To be a kid again . . . to see my best friend . . ." She sighed, "I agree with you! I would not want to trade my life now. Tora-chan," Iyasu paused. She very rarely called anyone else chan, besides the maiko and maids. "Do you plan on taking on another maiko once Omny has become a geisha?"
