The ninau had surprising endurance and the journey continued with no interruptions - Dune contemplating the order in which she would complete her tasks which included shopping, drinking and checking to see if anyone had tried to contact her in the last few hours to see if she was available for hire. That having been spoken for, she had then proceeded to examine her nails in the attempt to see how badly they had been damaged by the cliff face.
In fact, Dune seemed rather content with the long journey and wasn't surprised in the slightest when she glanced up and found Durem approaching at a rather quick pace - the ninau beginning to slow, his neck arching as he began to control his gait and prepare for the bustling city that they would soon be entering.
"S'nearly over." Dune murmured teasingly and adjusted the mask upon her face to ensure it was secure.
...Moving to Durem...

[Enter from Barton] It was in the very instant that she set foot upon the Temple grounds that she felt a stirring begin in Fiore. The Elysian was by no means immobile or untalkative before, but now there were pulsations coming off of her, strange and wonder-evoking that had Ourania scrambling to remove her pack and ascertain the well-being of her Crystal.
Fiore was glowing, which under normal circumstances would not have been surprising except she was currently brighter than a lighthouse beacon calling to seawrecked sailors in the night. The crystal was hot in Ourania's hands, nearly burningly so as the colors kalidescoped madly across its surface, veins of magic whirling heatedly.
"Fiore?" Ourania squeaked, flinching at the heat of the Elysian crystal but unwilling to let her go. "Fiore, please."
The crystal ceased its activities, becoming calmer and, thankfully, cooler against the novice summoner's palms. Ourania looked at the crystal curiously, wondering what had occured, when she felt the threads of power beginning to shift. There was a soft sound, like slow electricity as a circle appeared that latticed inward in a beautiful pattern. Ourania recognized it for what is was when it had first begun forming and allowed herself the smallest of gasps when it was completed. A summoning circle... oh dear deities it was a summoning circle.
She clutched Fiore against her breast and ran the rest of the way to the Temple, careless of the state of her feet and the fact that she was losing things out of her unclosed knapsack. She stopped only once to correct the problem, and continued to rush until she saw the looming doors of the Temple.

kheleksul could sense the living nearby. They let off a ... strange sort of smell. Not that she didn't like it, that is. It reeked in a different way than her own flesh, its insidious fumes creeping and twisting... calling to her own weary body, asking it to just lie down and complete the circle of life.
Circle of life my arse, she thought crossly. I've got a reason to stay here. Khel glanced fondly at her crystal, which let out a calming blue glow. As if to reassure her that Yes, you're just as alive as anyone else who comes round the bend.
Tucking her crystal away ((I'll let you try to guess where... BWA HAHAHA)), she crept towards the shadows cast by the trees.
And she waited. Waited to see who it was that had wandered by her Temple retreat....
((Ok, I've got to go. So I'll just be the lurker... the ever-present shadow! domokun ))

-/ I'm assuming this is where we're starting. >< /-
Sarabi wandered into the area in front of the temple. She came seeking anwers. The core of her watery soul felt an odd sort of tug as she approached the large temple. This has to be it, she thought. She knew she had some kind of reason to be here. It was just up to her to find out what it was.
As she neared the thicket she could sense someone watching her. The forest has eyes. Something that her father had taught her from a very early age. Her long spider legs twitch waiting for something to strike...

"WARK!"
"Gauri, hush," Javira said quietly as she bounced along on the chocobo's back. The woman reined in her chocobo, looking around the heavy forest. She didn't even know what she was looking for, if she was looking for anything at all.
Gauri, for her part, tossed her feathered head against the reins. She. Was. So. HUNGRY! What was with Javira, not feeding her 45 our of every 60 minutes?!
Adjusting her bow across her back, Javira steered her chocobo through the trees, touching each one as she went by. There was something different about this place, but she was not very wise in the ways of nature. People, she knew; trees, she didn't.
A sweet, intoxicating scent. The chocobo perked, then bolted toward it, leaving Javira clinging not to the reins, but to the yellow-feathered neck. She stopped as suddenly as she started, and dug at the ground with powerful talons, seeking a small clump of mimett greens, and throwing Javira rudely to the ground.

-/ Ooo...swirly transition screen! /-
At the creature's odd sound drew Sarabi's attention quickly. She spoke to the girl, while looking at the child. This creature wasn't settling well with her. "I'm not quite sure where we are at the present." Before it bugged her any farther she has to sastiate her own curiosity, "And um..what, by chance, is that?" She motioned with her left hand towards the large yellow bird. Two of her spider arms followed suit and pointed as well.

Javira's first instinct was to unshoulder her shortbow, grab an arrow, and aim it toward the sudden motion. It was rather an ineffective gesture, since she was still mostly sprawled on the ground, and bows aren't well shot from that position.
"That's... fine," Javira said slowly, unnocking her arrow and taking it and her bow in one hand and taking the winged and spider-legged creature's hand. She hauled herself upright as gracefully as she was able.
"Wark," Gauri insisted contentedly, munching on a mouthful of greens.
"You got me into this in the first place," she told the chocobo, looking stern but sounding much less so. Sighing, she folded the small pink wings on either side of her head into her hair and smoothed it down, then arranged her white--now smudged--robes. "So, where have we arrived?"
((Congrats, she indentified you as not a random encounter. There was no swirly transition screen, you see.))

Javira had an idea of where she was--in a forest--but not what was around here. It didn't matter too much at the moment. "That," she said, summoning up all the disdain she could muster, but ending up sounding fond, "is a chocobo, and a royal pain at that. Gauri, this is... oh my, I'm terribly rude." Javira fussed the feathers in her hair down. "My name is Javira. And you are?"

A chocobo..right. That was something that would have to be filed away for later. "I am Sarabi Adruenna of West Barton. I came here out of sheer curiosity it seems." She tucked a lock a blue hair behind her ear. "I am an aquamancer to a small degree. I also have some control over dimensional magic. But it only works bringing things to and from my house." She shuffled the ground a bit. She still felt uneasy. As if some..thing was watching her from the woods. She still couldn't quite tell what it was.

"Well then, Sarabi Adruenna of West Barton, this is Gauri," she said, patting the yellow chocobo on its feathered shoulder. "We are from... approximately that direction." She glanced around herself, then up at the sky, and the indicated a direction that may or may not have been north.
She riddled with herself for a few long internal moments. It seemed odd to her to introduce oneself with an announcement of magery skills. Was it something in the be-winged and be-legged creature's culture? Javira shrugged to herself and erred on the side of modesty. "I know some small curative magics." A pause. "Is something wrong?"

Masa was enjoying her walk through the dense forest. So many emotions were flowing through her mind, hardly any of which belonged to her. A smile crept on to her face as she looked up to the tree tops. It seemed wherever she went out in the open, a flock of curious birds would follow, drawing on her almost constant cheerful disposition.
The trees and bushes seemed to thin out a bit as she neared the forest's edge. She could hear voices up ahead, and could sense a bigger animal...more emotions, very care-free. 'Strange...' she thought 'I didn't think anyone else would've read about this place...'
As she exited the forest, the first thing she noticed was a very unusual, human-like creature, sat atop a wonderful big, yellow bird. Masa's face lit up as she saw the bird, it was so lovely, and she had never seen one like it. "What a beautiful creature!" She gushed as she walked over to it. She sensed that the creature was confident in itself, and as she had sense before, very care-free. Masa had learned never to fear any animal, because they would easily sense her fear...but without fear, all they can sense is her desire to be friends. Lightly, she ran her fingers through the feathers on the bird's chest, more than happy to stand there and do that all day.
After a few moments, she blinked a few times, and realised that she hadn't even introduced herself to the bird's owner, or the other girl that was presant that she had only just noticed. A light blush touched her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I just love animals...I get a little bit carried away when I see one I've never seen before..." She smiled "My name is Masamune, but you can call me Masa!"
(( surprised I've PMed Masa's profile to Khel, so I assume you guys will get forwarded it... whee ))

From the shadows, khel watched with vague amusement. More of the living. What ever happened to the Temple I remember? One naive child-ghost, one cynical zombie, and one angsty ... whatever the Guardian is.

He landed silently, a thin smile creeping across his face, as he appreciated the skills that a decade had given him. It was only a momentary pause, and then, it seemed he dissappeared again. There was no tracks showing where he went, no broken twigs, nothing, just a swirling of breeze, as though he had disappeared into thin air.
A moment later, his feet touched down again, without a sound he could notice. He was standing on the edge of a cliff, looking down at a strange building, and the forest surrounding it. It seemed almost like a moat, or a wall, protecting the citadel within, protecting whatever treasures or people resided there from unwelcoming guests.
His smile was gone now, as he seemed to pop out again, there was a strange whistling sound from up above, barely audible, and down he came again, now in the forest near the citadel. Loamy soil cushioning his landing as the scents of life and death strangled his sences.

A sudden change in the feelings of some of the animals in the forest caused Masa to stop petting the yellow bird and turn around to face the forest. Something was causing the animals there a slight feeling of distress, like they had been suprised by something and were now worrying about it.
Masa closed her eyes and tried to focus. She had been working so hard lately on trying to communicate with animals, rather than just sensing their emotions and feelings. She could hear the slightly frantic chirping of the birds, the rustling of the bushes as small creatures scurried into them to hide...but she couldn't hear any actual voices coming from the animals, only very distant thoughts that she couldn't translate. A gentle sigh escaped her lips as she opened her eyes. "I'll get it some day..." The animals of the forest seemed to calm down a little, and Masa did the same.
