"Kailine! After you left I was a complete jerk to him and left too! I was going to give you time to calm down and then talked to you! But since Dusk was closer, and I didn't think I'd pissed him off to the brink of wanting to rip my head off I decided to apologize to him first! He needed my help anyway..." Reynee froze, turning to Dusk and whimpering softly. Why was he saying that? The cat growled and pinned her ears back, clenching her first and narrowing her eyes dangerously at Kailine. This witch wasn't even letting her explain! What kind of friend was she?!

"I fell okay!? He was kissing me, I tried to walk away but my foot got caught on that root," She pointed behind her at the root sticking out of the ground to prove her story. "And when I tried to keep my balance I used him because he was there and Dusk ended up falling as well! That, Kailine is why you found me laying on him! It wouldn't have to cost us our friendship if you would stop accusing me of sneaking around behind your back! I was GOING to talk to you! I really was! But I had no idea where you even went!"

"Wing-man put Xian Pu down. And no follow like dog. I no want you now. Go, shoo!"

A dark shape swept down over the forest spread out before the orphanage, its shadow like a large bird of prey's, but very much human in body. With a soft rustling of feathers and the barest tilt of the large ebon wings, the figure fell to the ground softly, his wings clapping heavenwards to allow his body to drop. A soft mewl was released from the bundle within his arms, wrapped snuggly in a white sheet, as they fell...

"No do that! Cat not made for fly!" Xian Pu snapped angrily, twisting ferally within the blanket in hopes of release. Her orange eyes flashed gently as the man who held her - the owner of the slender black wings as well as a devil's tail - dropped her without so much as an apology.

"That's too bad, because my wings are my mode of transportation," he replied, voice as flat as the look he gave the little girl. Bending at the waist whilst placing his fists upon his hips mockingly, he sneered into her scrunched visage and purred. "Get used to it."

The kitten merely hissed.

Azruael had brought the girl here in hopes of ditching her, but he knew it wouldn't be easy. Not at all...she was like a fungus, and hadn't the ability to let go of him, no matter how much she screamed things at him in Chinese about how much she hated him. She was the one with the problem, not him...at least...

As both began the short trek to the building in front, one's ears gave a feeble twitch. Xian Pu paused in her step and cocked her head to the side, a single brow furrowing as the other shot up. Her tail bristled eagerly as she turned and picked her way towards the interesting source of the distant noise.

Only a large hand upon her shoulder held her back. She snapped her head back and glared up into narrow, golden eyes - eyes that mirrored her own in their cattyness.

"And where," he began softly, his deep tones a sarcastic velvet. "in Hell do you think you're going?"

"I hear voice."

"I always knew there was something wrong with you, Princess."

The catgirl stamped her foot impatiently and pointed into the wood, her upper lip curled in both a scowl and grin of her own. The demon listened with little interest...until he heard the angry voices. Anger. A smile curled his slender lips, his fingers twitching - how he relished others anger. And how he was going to make this into a sport! A delighted, albeit deranged chuckle left him as the pseudo father scooped up his pseudo child - who protested the act - and moved into the trees.

"Oh my," he sang, eyes dancing like a firefly's light as he sauntered like a tomcat towards the others, clapping. His golden orbs were flashing - bright, erratic...excited. He was only going to make this worse. "That was a beautiful slap, my dear. Very nice."

Xian Pu wasn't at all phased by the scene playing out before them. The fury and betrayal, as palpable as it was, didn't make her cringe like a girl her age should. Oh no, she giggled and allowed the demon to hold her, her arms snaking around his neck as she turned her curious face upon them. As much as they denied one another, Azruael and her were very much alike.

Or alike in the way they were both quite sadistic.

A smile ghosted over the demon's lips as he leaned nonchalantly against a tree. Their little fight was none of his -- well, yes. EVERYTHING was his business. He listened to the accused's words, arms folding over his chest; he turned his steely eyes upon Kailine.

"My, my...she was going to talk to you, my little flower? You believe that? Oh yes, she was going to speak with you after she had had her way."

"You nosy..." the kitten piped up, half-heartedly. After all, she wanted to know what happened too.

Azruael simply smiled.

All Kailine heard was garbled nonsense. Reynee was trying so hard to explain away all of her mistakes, and it sounded like a whole pile of bullshit to Kailine. What crappy reasonings.. just because he was closer she decided to go after him first. Did Reynee really believe the bullshit she was spitting out? Was she really so blind, continually piling up the lies and excuses to try and defend her actions?

"Blah blah blah blah BLAH. This is pathetic, Reynee. Truly pathetic. You sound like you're trying to convince yourself that you didn't ******** up more than trying to convince me. The fact of the matter is, you chose him over me, and you can't handle the consequences of your actions. Stop acting like a spoiled brat and realize that you're just a terrible friend, Reynee."

As she spoke, Kailine's voice went from sarcastic to just plain hurt. If Reynee had just done what a best friend should of, and gone after her first..

..maybe things would have been different.

She wheeled around when she heard another voice, growling softly in reply. "Who the ******** are you?" She hissed, clearly not in the mood to deal with anyone else right now.

Still, his words hit their target, though Kailine needed no more convincing over the matter. Reynee had done enough convincing of her very own, with her spattered excuses and faulty logic.

Dusk just stood quietly, shaking more and more, mind going from worse to worse, memories of pain and hurt and anger flooding back and causing more and more tears to roll down his cheek. Nothing he did mattered, no one listened to him or cared about what he said or did. The shouting just went on and on and anger built more and more. He couldn't take it, he'd taken up a life alone to avoid such things and being forced into this all at once was making him want to vomit. He coughed slightly again, hand going to his mouth automatically. He frowned more at the blood in his hand once again. His eyes close as he found it harder to breath. Of course, the calm before the storm happened as his mind cleared for a moment. "...but what kind of friend were you for screaming at your best friend just because she happened to develop feelings for me without even knowing it? she mearly hugged me because from an artists stand point she thought the tree was beautiful...if anything, you drove her to my arms..." his mind clouded and he collapses to the ground, eyes closing. He wasn't needed anyways.

Oh, this was too much! Truly! Any manners the demon had flew away upon the wings of a bird and the barest hints of his insanity tickled the edges of his mind. This was lovely! An enraged witch, a slap-marked cat, and a crying magician; could life be ever more delightful? He had to come to this place more often!

Xian Pu giggled, the vision of deviousness. "He a crazy." Revenge, hate, betrayal; it was better than a drama you could catch on T.V.! The little girl had quite the bitter mind and heart, and enjoyed scenes just as these...

Slender brows quirked upwards as he was addressed and his golden eyes flickered once more to Kailine's face. He wished to reach out and touch it, grab hold of her chin and reel her in. He wanted to manipulate her. She had such a wonderful temper! His tail gave an idle flick and he pushed off of the tree, careful of the child resting like an imp within his arms.

"Azruael," he intoned, tilting his head back slightly. His gaze became lidded - the look of a pleased big cat - and he turned said gaze towards each one of the Tahnee in turn. His lips became a small o as he listened in on Dusk's words, and he sneered maliciously, looking back at Kailine.

"You drove her into his arms and it seems as though she stayed, hm? Instead of looking for you, redeeming herself, she went pell mell to him, no doubt. To get to him first, love?" His gaze of sadistic yearning flickered from the witch to the cat.

"And they made up before the best friends did," he sang quietly. "And even after, she still didn't go after you..."

His eyes flashed as he made a home within the anger, relishing the pain of the others. Xian Pu shifted within his arms, having never seen the man act this way before. Her ears flicked back, one fang draping over her lip as the corner of her lips quirked.

Twilight growls from the branches of the tree, throwing rocks at the demon. "Don't touch Dusk's tree you filthy evil demon" He hissed gently, though was careful not to hit the small cat in his arms. He had to protect the tree while Dusk was lost within himself.

Reynee hissed loudly, turning to the b*****d that'd decide to screw with Kailine's head. "You SHUT UP! This has nothing to do with you! Don't you DARE speak as if you know me!" Common sense was really dead right now, and Reynee suspected she was one of the only people actually sane right now. At Kailine's words, Reynee paused, staring at her and frowning. The cat shook her head slowly. "Kailine...I thought you knew me better than that...I didn't choose him over you! I would never do that!" And she wouldn't; Reynee wasn't the type to pick individual people.

Everyone was against her today! Even this b*****d that had no idea who the hell she was! "...I'm not the terrible friend, Kailine. You are. You jumped to conclusions yesterday and today you won't even listen to someone you once called your best friend, instead you listen to this demon that doesn't know either of us. Some friend you turned out to be." She didn't sound or look mad, in fact there was no emotion whatsoever on her face or in her voice. How could she do this to her? Here Reynee was trying to calm Kailine down and out of nowhere this demon comes and ******** around with her head! What kind of friend is that? She actually regretted meeting the witch now, blinking and glancing up at Twilight.

"Stop, Twilight. Dusk told you to stay at the orphanage. Come here." The cat reached up to take Twilight in her arms, turning to find Dusk out cold. Why hadn't she noticed that before? Kailine and Azurael had distracted her from him, that's why. Reynee shot one last dark glare at the others before leaning down to lift Dusk up with her free arm and lean him against her, he wasn't that heavy...and they weren't that far from the orphanage, she could drag him back easily without hurting him. Despite how much Reynee already loathed this particular demon, she had a feeling the one she lived with would be very unhappy with her if she just idly stood by and allowed Twilight to attack him with rocks; besides, she was through with Kailine now, obviously nothing Reynee said to her mattered after all. She really was a witch.

...if anything, you drove her to my arms...

Dusk's babble had been nothing but annoying buzzes against her ear until he'd said that. Her eyes narrowed to slits as they focused on him, watching him fall right after.

For that one single moment, as she let that phrase sink in, she wondered if he was right.

Then Reynee spoke, and she knew he was wrong.

"Oh, how ironic. Now you're trying to turn it around so I'm the bad guy, so you don't have to feel guilty." Kailine felt so betrayed, so disgusted.. this had gone much deeper than it should have. Maybe Reynee hadn't had any friends before Kailine, because she sure as hell didn't know what it really meant to be one.

"I thought I knew you better than this, too. But it looks like I was wrong. So. Very. Wrong." Her anger, and her rage, had started to fade in place of a sadder sense of emotion, bordering on pity. This was truly pathetic.

"I love how you're saying I'm listening to this demon. Since when am I? I don't recall telling him he was right or wrong, hell I only recall cursing at him. But once more you twist things around in your mind to make it look like you're an innocent. Every minute I watch you do this it's making things clear to me. I didn't need any demon to show me the kind of person you really are."

Kailine turned around, giving the demon one last, cold glare, before turning away from him as well. There was nothing in his words that she didn't already feel, already know.. it only served to remind her. "You don't need to tell me, y'big jackass. I was there."

Her voice was tinged with emotion, as she started to feel her tears well up and threaten to fall. She didn't want any of them to see her cry, so she simply kept her back to them, folding her arms silently.

How could she have trusted Reynee. How..

He had been in the process of setting his charge down as the stone hit, and he rose, only to turn to Twilight and smile - that very deranged smile of his.

"Filthy, no. Evil, perhaps. I've been called worse, kid. I've been stoned with more anger behind each hit than there can fit in your tiny body. But if you wish to continue..."

He spread his hands out and tilted his head, a look of gentle amusement within his eyes.

"Be my guest. Take out your anger, hatred, happiness...what have you, I'll accept it."

Xian Pu bit her lower lip then, setting her face as to not allow her it to green. His sickly sweet voice made her stomach churn and his smile didn't help to calm the goosebumps rising upon her slender arms. She knew the demon to be strange, but...was this getting too strange for her? Maybe so. She had never met someone who liked to get themselves hurt physically as the black-winged man seemed to enjoy.

She licked her dry lips and shook her head.

"True that I know none of you, but it's a...ah, hobby of mine to try and make things worse. But clearly," he ended in a whisper, watching as Kailine turned from them all. "You don't need my help."

His tongue clicked upon the roof of his mouth as if pitying a child who had done wrong. He cast Reynee a glance and smile, a mimicry of joy as he moved forward towards the witch, wondering if the salt he smelt could be tears. Perhaps...and could he make them fall? He would try.

The demon's slender fingers curled around Kailine's upper arms, gentle and firm as he leaned in to barely rest his chin against her shoulder. His black wings rustled as they moved forward to mimic his hands movement, and he tilted his head, hair entangling within the witch's.

"My...best friends that barely know anything about one another. A pity...and to think she was used to you jumping to conclusions, love...to think she knew and did not come to your aid when you needed her most. She should've known how you'd react. She should've known."

His voice grew softer and softer, until is was barely audible to the girl in which he spoke to. He had made his tone as if to sooth, but knew it was underlaid and laced with greed for her tears.

"It's a wonder how one makes friends these days, what with all the back-stabbing...but you should have seen it coming. Friends are virtually useless in this day and age...

The cat girl approached him from behind and looked over her shoulder, eyes glancing at the ones who remained. Her hand found the fabric of Azruael's pant leg, and she stood there clutching it, eyes boring into Reynee. It was a strange scene, demon, witch, and cat...like seeing temptation manifested, with betrayal standing at his side.

Twilight continued to growl at the demon, jumping down to land gracefully on Reynee's back and hug at Dusks neck gently, nuzzling at him. "..Dusk pain...sick...scared...forgotten...lost..." He whines softly, glaring at the witch and demon. "They are mean Reynee, won't help Dusk, only care for self" Dusk made a nosie in pain, limp in Reynee's arm, jewel on his forehead glowing. His eyes opened after a moment and when they did they were completely lifeless. The calm in his mind had been his true self, the one who wasn't affected by his horrible emotional past, the small part of his brain that was still truely Dusk. Now the calm before the storm ended as the tree seemed to give off a small pulse, Dusk trying to stand on his feet.

Reynee paused midstep, letting Kailine's words sink in. She was ignoring the demon now, he didn't deserve her attention, and he really was making things worse than they had to be. That b*****d. The cat suddenly smiled, turning to Kailine and nodding. "Thank you, Kailine! Now I know that you really are a witch, and it's not just your magic that makes you one!" She said in the happiest voice she could manage right now. What the demon was saying finally registered in Reynee's mind, growling low and narrowing her eyes at him.

"I thought I told you to SHUT UP!" What was with this guy?! If it wasn't for him the two of them might have had a chance to make up, but now it didn't look as if their friendship would be revived ever again...it'd be a b***h of an experience of Eight and Alania ever wanted to take their families out somewhere together. "Come on Twilight, we should get Dusk back to the orphanage where he can rest." Reynee didn't need Kailine, she doubted she ever did at this point. With Dusk so out of it it'd take awhile to get there, wouldn't it? But Reynee didn't care, she needed time to calm down just incase she saw anyone. The cat blinked when she felt Dusk suddenly move, watching him quietly and holding his arm carefully.

"Dusk? Are you alright?" She asked quietly, furrowing her brow and cupping his cheek gently.

Twilight blinks, ears going back as he watches his close compaion stand. Dusk's eyes were completely lifeless as tears fell from them, standing straight finally, unable to hear Reynee's words as he moved towards the tree. His steps were steady and he seemed completely different from the Dusk Reynee knew. He walks straight for the tree, his hands resting on the trunk gently as he slowly looks up at it. His eyes close as the jewel on his forehead glowed brighter and brighter as he stared into the branches. Soon the air seemed to grow damp and clouds gathered before a downpour of rain announced the arrival of the storm. Thunder boomed and lightning flashed as the wind picked up, the branches of the tree swaying. Dusk stood there as if nothing was happening, staring up into the branches quietly. Twilight whined gently, looking at Reynee with a whimper.

Reynee blinked and watched Dusk, frowning and chewing on her lip. What was with him? This wasn't her Dusk...and this most certainly wasn't her day! No pun intended. The cat jumped in surprise and held her hair out of her face as the wind began blowing, holding Twilight protectively and walking back up to Dusk...

"Du--" She didn't even get the chance to finish his name before the rain started, squeaking and throwing her arms to cover her head. She hated rain! Reynee didn't mind water but rain was just so annoying to be in! Lovely to listen to though! "Duuuusk, what are you doing?" Reynee whined, hugging Twilight and staring at Dusk. What the hell was going on?
PostPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2005 11:39 am

Twilight continued to cling to Reynee, whining when it started to rain on him, hiding his face in her hair. Dusk simply stared upwards into the tree branches, eyes still lifeless. Slowly, very slowly, the thunder and lightning died down, taking the wind with it. it continued to rain as Dusk slowly took a step back away from the tree. His eyes slowly returned to normal, looking around and blinking as he sways uneasily, obviously confused. "..R..eyn..ee..?" he gasps gently, falling to his knees at a wave of dizzyness, panting gently from some unseen great effort he'd gone through. He swallows, fighting to stay concious, suddenly worried about where Reynee was.

The cat frowned and pet Twilight's hair, keeping her hold on him a protective one as she watched Dusk silently. What was up with him all of a sudden? It was like he was a whole different person! "What do you think's wrong with him, Twilight?" She murmured, looking up at the sky as it calmed down and nibbling nervously on her lip. Whatever was wrong seemed to be over now...but why wasn't Dusk acknowledging her? Reynee carefully put Twilight back down onto his feet and kneeled down beside Dusk, cupping his chin and lifting his face up so she could see it.

"Dusk, I'm right here. See?"
