Kairi turned her head quickly and jumped to her feet at the sound of Sora's voice, "Sora! You guy are ba--" the redhead lost her smile as she saw one boy missing. "Where's Riku....?" Kairi looked to see if he was lagging behind, he wasn't. He was no where in sight, "Sora? What happened!? Is he alright....?"

She looked around at the group, another woman had joined them. She seemed to know Will, Kairi looked back at Sora when he finished addressing the older woman. "Sora...please tell me what happened. Please! I need to know....."

They promised they'd both come back...they promised!

At the docks

Sensing her alarm, and feeling his own heart tug at her worried words, Sora simply reached out and pulled her into a hug. What was he going to tell her, really?

Patting her back with a faint, sad smile and glad that Kairi couldn't see his expression at the moment, Sora simply murmured. "He left for a little while...but he'll be back soon, Kairi. You'll see."

He paused even as he patted her back comfortingly. "I'm sorry for making you wait for so long..." Pulling away, he continued, taking in the redhead's expression and wondering when - if ever - Kairi could stop worrying for them. He hated making her upset, but it seemed like so many things were out of his control at the moment.

"Did anyone bully you?" Maybe a change of subject was in order, truly.

Port Royal, Docks

Rufus rolled his eyes when he noticed Reno checking out this Elizabeth woman. That was so like him. The blonde was about to make a comment on it when Sora came back, smile on and ready to go. He raised an eyebrow, questioning. Where was the other boy, Riku? Luckily, he didn't seem to be the only one with this question, and the red-head girl echoed his thoughts out loud.

"Where's Riku....?"

"He left for a little while...but he'll be back soon, Kairi. You'll see."

He... left. Right. Rufus' eye narrowed suspiciously at the keyblade bearer, but chose not to question him. After all, it wasn't really his business anyway. There was a small bit of awkward silence before Sora broke it, asking if anyone had bullied Kairi.

"No, we kept Reno here on a short leash while you were out." He smirked, glancing momentarily at the red-headed Turk.

Turning to Rufus, the guy who'd been at the warehouse earlier, the boy flashed him a brief smile, nodding at his comment. Strangely enough, Sora had the feeling that the other man knew more than he let on somehow, which made him a little uncomfortable.

But now, there was no real time for that. The question was, would he wait for Riku here? He didn't know how long the 'visit' was going to take, and he definitely did not want to think about it. Pride was right - as much as he hated it - there was nothing he could do, not right now, and not with the level that he currently was.

Perhaps the only thing that comforted him, in a tiny, microscopic measure, was that Anti-Sora despised the other Heartless as well, for some reason. At least, that was the impression he had when Anti-Sora lingered for a little while back at the warehouse.

"Thanks, Rufus." Tilting his head to Jack and the others, his smile faded as he remembered how he and Roxas had harrassed Riku to ask Jack for treasure, and how Riku had promised to ask Jack when they got back to the docks.

Well, it didn't seem possible now, did it? Looking away, he focused his gaze on the ship, quite unable to muster up any smile now. "Well then...are we gonna set sail? You're coming along too, right, Elizabeth?"

Port Royal - Docks

Almost there… almost there… okay. Now it was full. Reno took the now emptied gas tank and slid it back into the copter before returned to the Boss and the others. Now they were all set to leave when they were ready… which he sorely hopped was soon. Rufus didn’t really want to go on that ship, did he?

The Turk rounded the aircraft and rejoined with the rest of the people. It took Rufus’ comment for him to notice that one of the two boys was back. But not the other? Only the spikey one was here, not the silver-haired boy, the one that pissed Reno off so easily. Odd… why had they split up?

Maybe it was individual senses or maybe it was because he was trained, as a Turk, to notice the suspicious. Spikey here was good friends with the other kid as far as Reno could tell. Why leave him behind?

“What happened to your other friend… the one with the attitude?”

Docks

Sora bristled mildly at the off-hand way Reno had referred to Riku, but then decided that it was probably a fair statement. Even then, he was very much obliged - as a friend - to take offense at the reference. Riku did not have very much of a attitude problem!

Well, maybe a little, but still!

"He left for a little while," Sora responded, doing his best to keep his voice casual. "With Pride."

Well...there was no sense in lying to them, was there? What he was more worried about was if Riku was going to get back soon, and if they were going to set sail without him. The effects of the alcohol had already worn off, thanks to Pride's sudden appearance - funny how some things like that had a sobering effect on one person.

Kairi smiled at the boy and nodded, "Alright!" she turned from Sora and whispered so only she could hear, "It's silly to worry....it's Riku. He'll be fine....we'll see him again." it was still hard on her, she didn't want to be seperated from her friends again....and they had promised....

She shook her head, trying to remove the subject from her thoughts. The redhead smiled when Sora asked if anyone bullied her, "Nope! I was fine!" she smiled, laughing lightly at what Rufus said about the flaming haired Turk.

The laughter disappeared when she heard Sora....

"He left for a little while....With Pride"

Kairi grabbed his arm, "Sora! He's with Pride...? Why...!?" she held onto his hand tightly, "Did Pride capture him...? Is he hurt?" looking down at their intwined hands, trying to keep back her tears. He lied to her....everything wasn't alright.

"Sora...." she whispered, "Tell me what happened. Please. So I don't have to worry..."

Docks

His hand tightening around hers at Kairi's question, Sora once again felt horrible for making her upset. Really, couldn't he do something right, at least??

"Kairi," he spoke, his voice gentler now, and a lot more comforting. Squeezing her hand softly, he continued. "Riku will be fine. You told me that, remember? He just--he just left for a little while to see the Caesar of the Heartless."

He paused for a moment, feeling a twinge of...something at the mention of the word 'Heartless'. He hadn't forgotten the brief moment when Anti-Sora - Aros' - presence made itself known to him. The surge of hate and anger...now that he thought about it, it was terribly unsettling, as if the Heartless loathed them as well.

"Pride...he said that the Caesar had a way to get rid of the darkness for Riku...and he went. To see what he has to say."

Port Docks Black Pearl D.] All of the above.

.......Well, it didn't seem like anything important was going to happen, now did it? Besides, he really needed to get to Tortuga. He was totally out of rum. Swaggering away, Jack left the group not long after Sora and his little friend did.

-----------

Having succesfully gotten away from the group and onto the docks, Jack climbed back onto the Black Pearl, shouting orders to leave for Tortuga. The captain mounted the stairs, running up them and up to the wheel.

"Raise the starboard anchor!!" Captain Sparrow shouted, the command being carried out swiftly. The ship swung away from the docks, leaving Port Royal behind it.

Port Royal, Docks

Rufus' expression immediately darkened upon hearing that Riku had left with a heartless. Sure, the blonde didn't know the entire story, but he did know that the Heartless were bad news all around. So what made Riku leave with one? He listened as Sora explained the situation to Kairi, saying something about darkness. Frowning, Rufus looked over at Sora, an unspoken question behind his eyes.

This all seemed rather suspicious to him. Maybe he was just edgy, though. Or maybe it was all that Turk training. Yeah, that definitely seemed like a more viable answer. Another question popped into his mind as he reviewed the explanation---

---What was this about a "Caesar" of the Heartless? The bastards had a leader?

By this time, and awkward silence had fallen over the small group. He shook himself out of his thoughts, expression falling back into normal nonchalance.

"So what do we do now? Should we leave without him....?"

Docks

Tilting his head in the direction of where the ship was leaving, Tseng cast his boss a dry look. "I don't think leaving is a real option." At least, not at the moment.

With the pirate gone, Tseng looked back at the others - a beautiful, well-dressed young woman had joined the group earlier, and Reno, as always had to stop to admire her. That wasn't much of a problem, really. But now...what were they to do?

Taking a moment to contemplate things and taking in the spikey-haired boy's - Sora, was it? - words, he was silent for awhile before quietly speaking. "If I may, we'll find better chances heading in than leaving this place."

As much as this place was detested by the Turk Commander, who had become quite a**l in the hygiene department, he saw no other way.

Elena tries to keep herself from saying anything or worrying over this Riku. She does not want to be reprimanded by Tseng anymore; she does not want to be a bother to him now that he seems to be in less than favorable moods. Rufus had said that she has been a good Turk, and that did make her day, but she is still worried over Tseng. Strangely, her happiness at being called a 'good Turk' by her boss is almost enough to counter her disappointment at having her offer waved away by Tseng.

Suddenly, she notices the huge ship they were going to sail on moving slowly away from the docks. Surprised by it, she almost shouted out for the others, but is stopped just in time by Tseng's response. Nodding slowly in agreement, she turns to Rufus, "Maybe Rude landed somewhere inland."

Pride? He left with pride? As opposed to leaving meekly? For some reason, Reno felt that this was not what the kid meant. Perhaps it was simply a learned intuition he gained from being a Turk for so long. It was obvious that something had happened to his friend. And then… yes. There we go. Pride was the name of somebody. It was the way Kairi spoke of him. Pride couldn’t exactly ‘capture’ somebody.

And then something else clicked when Sora mentioned the Heartless. They took the attitude kid? What the hell was his problem? He was fraternizing with the enemy!

“Woah woah woah woah! Hold on, Spikey!” The Turk burst, stepping in front of Sora and Kairi. “Pause it, will ya?”

Reno paused to organize his thoughts. Okay. Question time.

“So whose this Pride and Caesar? And why on the Planet is your buddy going to go ‘get rid of his darkness’? When did this happen?”

Corridor of Darkness

Prince of the Heartless, Prince of the Heartless, Prince of the Heartless...

The words echoed in his mind, reverberating in the recesses of a brain scripting speeches and plotting scenes at a thunderous pace. He imagined a thousand scenarios, puppet-like people acting out a thousand plays before his mind’s eye as he trod the pathway of darkness, black leather boots making no noise in this world of shadow. The King, he had learned, had been setting the stage for him for some time. Now was his time to shine. He was a puppet-master, and it was time to meet his marionettes.

He stepped silently out of his portal, hiding in the shadows the dusk of this world provided. There, just ahead on the docks. Nine stood there, three women, the rest men. Immediately he picked his targets out of the crowd. He stepped forward out of the shadows, smirking at the assembled individuals.

“Hello there lovelies,” he drawled, sliding slyly amongst their ranks until he reached Kairi, herding her a step away from the two spike-heads. “Long time no see, lovergirl. How has life been treating the seventh Princess of Heart? Unlocked any dangerous doors lately?” He grinned, raising his hand to run it through her hair almost tenderly. The chain that ran from his neck to his wrist jangled slightly with the movement.

Leaving her no chance to respond he turned away, abruptly addressing the crowd. “I see the Princess’ rabble of unlikely guardians has increased both in size and ridiculousness.” He slid about, first to Xemnas, and he flipped the ex-Nobody’s hair girlishly with his fingers. “A broken whole of a once mildly entertaining adversary.” He took another step and eyed Reno with distaste. “A man who has the manners of a hornet.” Another step, and he paused. “I take it back– the hornet would have better manners.” He smiled ironically as he looked at the next several characters in the Princess’ arsenal. “A weak-willed leader and his faithful lapdog. A bumbling greenhorn.” He sneered at the blonde before turning and walking forward, bypassing the Keyblade Bearer. “A boy who denies the truth for a living,” he murmured, trailing a finger across Will’s chest coquettishly. “And his beloved,” he said, circling Elizabeth swiftly and taking her hair into his hands, running his fingers through the tendrils, “who has more tricks up her sleeve than a crooked gambler.” He spun away from her sharply and returned to the center of the circle.

He turned to Kairi, refusing to let them get a word in until he was done with his piece. “Is this your defense now, Princess? Are these the people you entrust with your safety? The worlds are dangerous, and I think you are foolish to place your trust in these lackwits.”

He laughed. The opening act is up, my friends. The next is up to you.

Sora barely had time to react, much less to recover from the strange, empty feeling that had struck him full force just before Reno spoke. Something was gone, something had slipped away from him and he didn't know what it was.

And then Reno spoke, and Sora had pulled Kairi away, stepping in front of her slightly in an almost subconcious bid to protect her. However, it turned out that Reno of the Turks wasn't the one he had to protect her from, and the one person he had to had slipped in under his radar, herding her away before he even realized it.

However, as he moved to protest, to get Kairi back before she was taken away from him again, he froze in his place, lapis lazuli eyes widening in a mixture of surprise and pure confusion.

Somehow...he knew this new arrival. He knew he had never seen this person before, but a strange, unsettling feeling lay heavy in the pit of his stomach. His heart ached, for reasons he still could not comprehend, but the sudden onslaught of these feelings was enough to keep the Keyblade Bearer in his place.

A familiar presence, but twisted beyond all recognition, sheared into something that Sora himself did not recognize, but....

Do I know you...? His laughter, his laughter was haunting, and Sora shook his head, struggling to try to grasp at the wisps of familiarity this stranger had offered him. But...just as something important left his heart, and had slipped into oblivion without him understanding, the stray tendrils of that feeling evaded him, spilling away like silver rain through outstretched fingers.

"Get away from Kairi." Any semblance of an angry response was stripped away from him for the moment. The sudden, vast emptiness that struck his heart minutes ago, and the appearance of someone his heart almost recognized...it left him vulnerable, confused, and very much lost. His voice was almost hoarse now, his vocal cords tight and unwilling to let any other sound out.
