I think Will is popular because he's all heroic and innocent and brave...he's the stereotypical hero..Orlando always is in all his films...and if that's the sort of thing you like..then you'd love Will 3nodding he's the typical romantic dashing hero.
for me though, I prefer jack all the way xp much more interesting and much more original. that's just my opinion though.

I'm not too fond of Will. He's a blouse.
Still, he's got that brave, sweet, nice-guy thing people dig.

Will is extremely dull. Jack is the only thing keeping the movie alive. Personel opinion. but, I guess, to a degree kinda think that Orlando is cute but Johnny Depp still beats him and he is way older. Always a bonus.

Well, I'm going to be honest here, because frankly, I like bein honest. biggrin Will Turner's character is a dime a dozen. He loves Elizabeth, so he saves her. He protects her from the evil pirates. He sets off it save her from them, too. Now, haven't we seen this plotline before in one form or another? It's not oriningal at all. ( And to be honest, Elizabeth is annoying, so why he loves her, I have no idea! razz ) Anyway, of course, Orlando Bloom girl fans are going to support his character, but take it from someone who really loves Orlando Bloom as much as the next fan girl. His character wasn't entertaining as Captain Jack Sparrow's, I might say, and it was unorinigal. But, if we set aside his character, Orlando Bloom is a great guy. So you see, some people only like his CHARACTER because it is played by Orlando Bloom aka DREAM HUNK! While I have the strength to say, even though I am an Orlando Bloom fan, that I do not like his character, Will Turner. Do I think that Orlando Bloom is a great actor and a great guy? Of course. But the character he plays...dull as an unshined penny. So, I said my peace. biggrin :

Antag0ni5tic Turner is disgusting. There is nothing about him that I find the least bit attractive. He's whipped by Elisabeth. He's dull! Boring. Blaaah. I'd have a better time chatting up Cotton, for cripe's sake. I concur. I really don't understand why people like him either. Bleh.

[_ _] The fool doth think he is wise...He is certainly not my favorite character, but where would Pirates be without him? I still like his character, though. He is a bit dull, but he is the mirror to Jack Sparrow in many ways. Jack uses his wits to get what he wants. Will *tries* to use his "brute" and swords, and when he tries to use his wit, he fails. Miserably. Jack is the "bad-man" while Will plays the "good-man". (relative terms, obvious. Since Jack switches sides xD) Jack knows what to say and when to say it, while Will generally doesn't seem to ("If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.")
I guess what I'm saying is that you kind of feel bad for him. He tries so hard to be lovable, especially to Elizabeth, and gets denied. Then when you think he might get her, he's denied again. Everything he does is for Elizabeth, basically, and you are "supposed" to feel bad for him in a way. That is, until he finally gets her in the end and everyone is all "awwww..." and your pity turns to the Commodore because now HE has lost Elizabeth.
So basically... I like him because he's different from Jack. He's not a pirate, really, which is refreshing, despite how much I love pirates. pirate He provides a wonderful contrast to Jack so that you can appreciate Jack that much more, AND, as others have said, he's got that "cute lover-boy" charm going for him.
And no, he doesn't change from the first to the second movie too much. It's still about Elizabeth, but he seems... To have his wits about him a little more. I realized while watching the first movie just now how young he looked compared to the second. I mean in general, his character seemed quite innocent and very much on edge. Now, he seems a bit more mature, informed, and able. Still a charming lover-boy, sure, but I do see a change in him.
In any event, he's not a terrible character, as far as that's concerned. In my eyes, anyways. 3nodding ... But the wise man knows himself to be a fool. [_ _]

I don't particularly like him; he's too much of a good guy. His character is essential for the story though, so... no hard feelings. ;D

Will is pretty much the only completely innocent character in the movies. If he hurts/kills some one, it was always in self defense. He steals something, it's to help save the woman he loves.
Yeah, he's kind of obsessed with Elizabeth but the other characters have flaws too. Elizabeth is an attention whore, Jack's an alcoholic and Norrington -though I love him dearly- can be a pompous a*****e at times.
In a way, it makes sense that he's so set on saving Elizabeth at all costs. He owes her his life. When she found the medallion, she could have told everyone he was a pirate, but she didn't. Had she told them, he probably would have been hanged.
And about him being boring, a durr! The movie takes place the 17th century, if you weren't dull, you were a heretic.

wallace100 hey everyone i think that will turner is okay but he is a little bit on the slow side if you know what i mean i mean come "aye avast" thats lame Right, because some kid who likes Braveheart a little too much could do so much better when facing a ship full of armed men who are allowed to fire whenever the hell they see it's necessary.
