Miyoko Clarinetti Awwe that sucks >.< is she a good percussion player? because if she is then you can't complain..unless it's trumpet that was really for her. We have a bunch of girls in brass, infact last year there was a girl who was a trombonist, and when she was in seventh grade she was in third chair in our wind ensemble and last year in eighth grade she was first chair biggrin . Oh no...now I'm starting to wish that my conductor and the people who could change schedules change mine.... gonk they sticked me in brass when i'm a woodwind player. we have a new principal...and she seperated the brass/percussion from the woodwind!!! I'm sure it was NEVER like that, last year in sixth grade it was like that just so we can experience other electives every other day... but for some reason nothing went wrong during concerts biggrin . Don't worry, feel proud you're the only girl in brass! I was the only girl in the front row...and i felt proud x3 be better then the guys and make them feel stupid--i did that smile -miyoko The thing is that the formal trumpet, now percussion is really good still. grrrrrrr. Well she has played the piano since she was born pratically, lol, so she plays the bells good. Well now that we're with with 8th graders, im getting 2nd chair. though i am still the best 7th grader I really thing it sucks that principals can have a say in how the band is run. half of them were probaly never even IN band. evil

In 6th grade here, they separated it into brass/percussion and woodwinds because each section needed individual help as they started out that couldn't be achieved with having about 70-80 kids in one class. For the rest of middle school band, however, they were in the same class. I'm so glad to be out of middle school band. Marching band is much harder, but now I actually understand what all these band geeks are talking about..and I feel like more of a band geek now. biggrin

elfwyn141-wow, interesting ^_^, well atleast you have a good percussionist? ( band fails without them sadly xD) ^^ I use to be the best clarinetist...in sixth grade...I think i got too lazy over the summer crying I know! stupid principal........
Pie Please- The eighth graders weren't seperated, they were together--but they had two classes still (we are a huge band ^^) that was the reason for us in sixth grade too!!! the prinicipal before our most recent one was better when it came to handling the band...>_< I just hope the new principal won't cancel our wind ensemble's trip to europe this year........ crying the thing is, in high school i'm hoping to join concert band still, even though marching seems fun, I wanna go to one of those big music schools and everything...but maybe it would be good to discuss this with my conductor =/ i dunno what to do in high school really sweatdrop -miyoko

Hm...
Where to start...where to start... one trumpet always blasts, the trombones never come in on time because they NEVER EFFING SHUT UP the clarinets always smack into things and us(percussion) would be lost if it wasn't for me. I'm the only one of us who even cares about band..

Heh, I'm not a middle schooler, but I'm posting anyways because a few of my friends are still in it. XP XD I prefer some of the people in middle school band over high school because some of my bandmates are complete asses... *coughmarybowerstonymillercough* Anyways, we got unanimous superior at all our concerts when we were in middle school...
