Aurora stood up on tiptoes to see, her face lighting up when she saw her name. She glanced at his hands, and then tried to make the same ones with ehr own. "You can write my name! And is this sign language?"
She copied his hand movements as best she could, Aurora's face screwing up a bit in concentration. It was kind of fun too.
Neith laughed and hugged Emme. "Yes... it cost a lot, but it's well worth having it all. You can go camping on your own land, or have somewhere to escape. And it'll have room for the children if they ever want to build a home of their own. What were you thinking about... or is it private?"

Emme paused for a moment, at a loss for words. On the surface she was a very open person, more than happy to share her opinions and thoughts... but there were some things that she just hadn't felt ready to share. She picked up a cloth and wiped down one of the counters, all to aware of Neith's perceptive gaze.
"Um. It was nothing really... but yeah, some what personal. I think I'm still adjusting to living here in Gaia. It's an awefully social place for a loner like myself." She grinned, and as always, she couldn't help but wonder how she came off to other people.

Ray clapped when Aurora mimicked the names correctly. Though he was still often quiet frustrated with the fact that his communication skills were so limited, he was excited to see Aurora so willing to learn. He jumped down from his stool and ran to get the book that Emme had picked up to help them both learn sign language. Maybe if Aurora could read just enough, they could practice sign language together! .

"Well, ok." Neith let it go, and grinned. "It is, I know. But you'll get used to it, and you can always stay on my land if you need to escape. I think that's partly why I needed so much of my own land, I can just escape if I need to."
She got it right! Aurora clapped as well, "Yay!", and followed Ray towards the book. Aurora glanced at the adults, half wondering if it meant that Ray wouldn't ever talk. It would be really scary to not be able to talk, Aurora thought to herself, deciding that she would try and learn as much sign language for him as possible. That way, he could talk to her no matter what.

"Thanks for the invitation. We'll definately have to go camping some time. Ray really enjoyed being out in the country as well. As much as I love my studio, the little backyard just isn't quite enough." Her attention shifted as Ray jumped from his stool, Aurora following. It was nice to seem him interacting with another child. She kept him cooped up far too much.
Ray flipped open the book and showed Aurora his favorite words. He knew quite a few now, but it was hard when no one but his mommy knew them. *Thank you for the lantern* He signed, and then pointed to the signs in the book, flipping to a few paper clipped pages.

"He'll love it then, there's a lake in the center of the place." Neith grinned, and started to clean some dirt encrusted chains that had been waiting for a clean for a while. She glanced over at Aurora, noting the book and asked in a quieter voice, "He still can't speak?"
Aurora watched him and then glanced at the book, it all connecting quickly in her mind. She beamed, and hugged Ray. "It's fine! I hope you liked it, I picked it out on my own."
She still kept her eyes on the book, absorbing the information and trying to memorize it.

"It doesn't look like he'll be speaking any time soon, either. It was a little difficult to accept at first, but we're learning sign language together, and he really seems to pick things up quickly, both signs and writing. I think he may be a bit older than he appears... I was always petite for my age as well." She said, almost stubling over her words. She wasn't ready to hint upon her deeper fear... her fear that he'd some how reflected upon her own feelings of isolation... her own inability to open up to others.

Ray hugged Aurora excitedly, showing her as much as she could absorb. He'd already figured out enough signs to talk with his mommy almost with out having too much difficulty getting his point across. He was so excited to see Aurora trying to understand the signs as well. Aurora was such a good friend! He needed to think of something nice to do for her.
